As an outdoor fitness enthusiast, I just could not resist stopping in to take in the vibes of this park, plus take pictures. At the time there were several activities going on, yet the park had such a tranquil vibe. Cadman Plaza Park has a memorial known as the Brooklyn War Memorial that I just could not take my eyes off while browsing the area. I later found per Cadman Park Conservancy; the memorial is dedicated to the more than 300,000 heroic men and women of the borough of Brooklyn who served in World War II. Inside are displayed approximately 11,500 names of Brooklyn service members who died during the war. And the two massive exterior high relief figures that depict a male warrior on the left and a female with child to the right, symbols of victory and family. Its inscription reads: This memorial dedicated to the heroic men and women of the borough of Brooklyn who fought for liberty in the second World War 1941-1945 and especially to those who suffered and died may their sacrifice inspire future generations and lead to universal peace. During my time in Brooklyn, New York, I was grateful to encounter Cadman Plaza Park, and further pleased to discover the meaning of its memorial as a military veteran myself. ~Have courage. The renovations featured a complete reconstruction of the recreational facilities and the site was named First Park by Parks Commissioner Henry J. Stern. The park reopened on June 26, 1997 with benches, play equipment, swings, a spray shower with fish ornamentation, a decorative floor medallion with signs of the zodiac, and a kiosk selling snacks with a separate seating area. Great looking playground equipment, all inside a fence that will keep the little ones from wandering off. Is the base soft? Hard to tell. Not much shade, but the trees are around for a little relief if the sun shines too brightly for you! Nestled right off of the bustling South Orange Avenue street.

The playground is the obvious attraction for youngsters but there is huge open field space perfect for picnics, kite flying, Frisbee, playing catch and much more. Framing the open field is a walking path that wraps around at about a 1/2 a mile. probably most widely used part of the park for walkers or people passing through off the main road. It can get crowded, especially when people ride on it with their bikes. There are adequate benches around the park, trash receptacles and a water fountain which is nice. The park is regularly cared for and for it's size, is a nice little place to people watch or bring the little ones if you have any.

It can get a little crowded during peak hours but besides that it's a great place. Parking is available when you show up, not many cars can fit in the lot. If you ride your bike here the parking is by the jungle gyms. Bathrooms and water fountains are by the parking lot. If you're going for a run you can start by the baseball field and loop around behind the jungle gym. Park has a section of cherry blossoms which is nice too. If you picnic please take your trash with you, it's not a cute look. Enjoy your visit ! I know I did!

From swing sets, to kids climbing equipment, and a large sandbox area there is a lot to keep the little ones occupied. Nice rubberized mats make up the floor under the swings. When my daughter was growing up I enjoyed taking her to the discovery center in any city I lived in. Now I live near this Discovery Center in Central Park. It's a decent walk from my apartment with my friends and their children. First we check online to see the schedule of activity and the hours of operation. With the pandemic going on most activity is remote. Typically there's fun filled educational opportunities for all ages. The atmosphere is always joyful and the employees knowledgeable and helpful. There's not much more to add. I'd advise you plan a visit if you're nearby. This Harlem Meer area of Central Park is one of my favorites. It's the perfect location for a Discovery Center.

Situated at the far northern point of the park on the banks of the Harlem Meer this structure hosts some wonderful live music events during the summer season. Having been there on a few occasions it makes for a relaxing time to sit under the shade while listening to world music and local musicians. This educational center is a spot to attend different programs during the year, and you can also rent fishing rods for catch and release fun in the Meer during fishing season. There are plenty of benches and places to sit at to enjoy the view along the Meer and around the center. Decently clean bathrooms can also be found in the Dana Center. Mostly locals come here which is nice as it never seems overly crowded with tourists. It's also close to some great spots to eat a few minutes away up in Harlem.

They are sparkly clean with a big reflection from the sun! It burned my eyes looking at them in the sun. One good thing about this park is the number of spider webs that you can climb onto besides the steps that you can go onto. This park also has clean sprinklers at the feet level and big sprinklers that come and go. Very clean and safe. Most important thing is the safety issue. I have a stroller with belongings and they were untouched the whole time I was in the park so that's a plus! Also this park is gated from the public and only families with toddlers and kids can go in. Very family oriented. Will definitely stop by more when I'm in this area.

Billy Johnson Playground is very cool blending in with the area full of trees and wooden…read morestructures. This is a quiet peaceful area with easy access to and from Fifth Avenue. The day I visited there were many Nannies with small children going in and out of the gate. It's a place I will not enter unless I'm with a friend that has small children. There's bucket and tire swings, an amphitheater spray feature, two granite slides set into a hill, a rustic net climber, and a sandbox and sand table. As I said I love this landscape with rustic structures and stone bridge. You need to visit and enjoy! By the way, no restroom!
