I passed through Cadman Plaza Park while heading to DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) for an event, which the park became a key mark for me along my route. As an outdoor fitness enthusiast, I just could not resist stopping in to take in the vibes of this park, plus take pictures. At the time there were several activities going on, yet the park had such a tranquil vibe. Cadman Plaza Park has a memorial known as the Brooklyn War Memorial that I just could not take my eyes off while browsing the area. I later found per Cadman Park Conservancy; the memorial is dedicated to the more than 300,000 heroic men and women of the borough of Brooklyn who served in World War II. Inside are displayed approximately 11,500 names of Brooklyn service members who died during the war. And the two massive exterior high relief figures that depict a male warrior on the left and a female with child to the right, symbols of victory and family. Its inscription reads: This memorial dedicated to the heroic men and women of the borough of Brooklyn who fought for liberty in the second World War 1941-1945 and especially to those who suffered and died may their sacrifice inspire future generations and lead to universal peace. During my time in Brooklyn, New York, I was grateful to encounter Cadman Plaza Park, and further pleased to discover the meaning of its memorial as a military veteran myself. ~Have courage. Terrible neglected park. Grass is too long posing serious tick hazard. Dogs consistently off of leash ruining the grass. Defaced signage. Neglected military monuments. Graffiti throughout park and on marble stone. Please looks terrible. read more

Nice park in Brooklyn area with lots of greens that is surrounded by lot buildings. The park is quite big. There are many benches for sitting and chatting with friends. If you walk across the Brooklyn bridge, this is the first park that you will see on the Brooklyn side. Nice place to be or to take a stroll after a meal. read more

A clean and really nicely kept park in the middle of busy streets and intersections by the bridges. Everyday I see different things happening In the field, whether it's children playing, soccer games, or dogs off leash (unofficially). The residents in this area definitely take advantage of the green space, and there's always something going on. And when the weather is ridiculously beautiful outside, it seems to be the go-to place to gather. There are walking paths, some maintained shrubbery, and a few statues to look at. Although the park is nice, I wouldn't call this a destination. read more

Beautiful park. The lawn is nice and well manicured. The walking path is soft and clean, never crowded. This is a park that children come to play after school or in between activities. There aren't any swings or actual playground activities here but it's a great place to put the imagination to work. I enjoy taking an afternoon stroll and looking at the flowers and trees when its nice out. read more

Really great park. Its a nice oasis amidst the concrete jungle and the parade of cars waiting to get on the Brooklyn bridge. This park is both family friendly and dog friendly. There are many benches lining the park and there are tree lined walking paths. Truly looks like a scene out of a movie. A tiny little park-- crowded, noisy, and obviously well-loved. I thought it made the perfect venue for a New York wedding, so long as you don't mind some kids playing a noisy game of baseball about fifty feet to your right, and traffic blowing by in the background. Cadman Plaza Park sits in Brooklyn Heights directly opposite from the Pedestrian walkway entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge. When coming from Manhattan on the Brooklyn Bridge it is a good way to end the day at Cadman Plaza Park. It has a beautiful memorial to Brooklynites who served in World War II. Across the street only two blocks away, conveniently available is the A, C trains of High Street/Brooklyn Bridge station. read more

Took my little one here to see Frozen at the park and was pleasantly surprised that the grass is a plastic green turf. I was grateful for that because it's easier to keep clean. There's plenty of wide open space but just beware of the traffic you have to pass through to get to this area because it's close to the bridge. read more

This park has changed a lot over the years, all for the better. The main play space, mostly used for soccer, football, baseball, etc. is not grass, but artificial turf. To play organized sports here you do need to pay and reserve space I believe. There is plenty of room for about 4 different large, organized activities to be going on at a time. The park is lined with benches on each side and also has an entire back side, behind the monument, that is less manicured and with much more shade. This is a great place to sit and relax on the benches or on the stairs to the monument. There are two large public bathrooms here as well. You can bring your dogs through here, but nothing off-leash at this part. There is no kids playground or anything, but ample space to bring sports equipment and play, even if the main field is full. TIME MACHINE THROW BACK SEGMENT: I used to play here as a kid and the main field used to be one of those fields where you played soccer, made a slide tackle and came up with glass in your knee. Somehow, that was awesome. It still looks the same after 25 years, but much prettier overall. read more

This is a cute fun park. Lots of energy with people playing games, children running, and folks just sittin' as they read or play on digital devices. The trees surrounding the park benches cool the area quite a bit so it's nice in the summer. It's a nice stop to catch one's breath after walking the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn. read more

Beautiful park well-attended and used for various activities, even if it is surrounded by boisterous traffic and vociferous construction ATM. Good respite between the rest of BK and the BB area; rest your weary legs if you feel so obliged. With copious bags of sweets at my disposal, I hit up Cadman Plaza Park, a space I've only ever had the time to walk through previously. It's pretty serene and majestic as far as NYC 'parks' go, close to the water/bridge and with a good layout. It's bustling but not overly loud, pretty centrally located, and an all-around good spot to plop down for a few. read more

Cadman Plaza Park is the veritable town green of Brooklyn, flanked by its state buildings and courthouses. I often cross it when I'm walking Olive to the Brooklyn Bridge--but never on the astroturf! Dogs aren't allowed on the astroturf! This is smart; I often see groups of kids having field days on the turf, and it would be a serious downer for a kid to slide into a dog turd. There are still too many people who refuse to clean up after their dogs, and they ruin it for everyone else. In the winter, of course, I pass by and see people walking their dogs on the ice; naturally no one says anything. It's beautiful to have this much open space anywhere, and it's particularly fitting here. Also, there's a war memorial right in the center, which gives it gravity. read more

This park is beautifully landscaped, with softly paved running trails that wind along its length and a giant fake grass lawn in the center for pick-up soccer games and ant-free picnics. A huge memorial to Brooklynites who served in WWII takes up the center of the park, and offers a great alternative to the many benches that dot the area. A perfect resting spot for tourists on their way to and from the Brooklyn Bridge, this is also a great destination for locals hoping to eat lunch outside or have a quiet place to sit with a good book in the sun. I love this little park. It's not really a park to spend all day in. But it's a great area to walk through, stop and rest or take your dog. It's at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge so it's a good place to chill after walking in from Manhattan. Cadman Plaza is a cute little park, situated not too far from the Brooklyn Bridge. The JDRF walk recently wrapped up here and there was a DJ, food/drinks, and activities. There is a nice chunk of greenery if you want to lay out or if the kids want to play. Plenty of benches around too if you just want to sit and relax. The A/C is right outside the park, as well as the B25 which will take you into the heart of downtown Brooklyn. Easily accessible and not a bad spot to visit if you just walked the bridge. read more

I walk through this park most days on my way to work and it's a nice short reprieve from traffic and tourists. It's dog friendly. There's space for sorta like soccer. And lots of benches for an outdoor lunch. I've seen people picnic here and they sometimes throw events in the park. Film and TV crews also set up shop on the sidewalk on the Cadman Plaza West side pretty often so you might even see a D-list celebrity! read more

Or they did a great job hiding them, or my Google maps app did not work lol, bit the bathrooms here are something that you need to ask if you want to get there. Kind of as someone actually tried to hide them. The park is not big, and large part of it is dedicated for sport games. The grace at that area is not real, which makes it ideal for soccer, or any game that require good conditions. It is good to have a local green zone, but if you are not really local, walk a little and get to the Brooklyn Bridge park, which is so much nicer. read more

3.5 stars. This park is in the corner of Brooklyn Heights and Downtown Brooklyn and is right next to the entrance to walk on the Brooklyn Bridge and a couple blocks from the Promenade. One side of this park is beautifully landscaped with flowers, walkways, benches and a large turfed area (I always thought it was perfect grass until I went there and saw it was the expensive grass-like turf), this side also has a beautiful memorial to Brooklynites who died during WWII. The one thing I didn't like about this side is that it borders the Court House and there were benches of jackasses making comments when I went to take a couple pics of the field. If it weren't for the dirtbags I'd bump up the place to a 4. On the plus side most of the people here are nice families and kids playing around which is nice to see. On the park's defense, I pass the park daily and rarely see the type of people that I had to deal with that one day so I'll definitely be back. Behind the memorial is the second half of the park which is much quieter and relaxing. When I went the grass hadn't seen a mower in quite some time and there was a huge patch down the center where grass had given up growing. This area is mainly shaded by trees and has a path around it lined with benches. read more

Excellent park for anything. If you want to go for a run, there is a running track going around the perimeter of the park. If you are looking for a game of soccer, football, or four square bring a ball and have fun. Or even if your just looking for a quiet place to read a book, the copious amounts of benched will provide an excellent experience for you.
