I sent a quick email and I got a response from BVMMA allowing me to drop in for the few days I was there. I am still very new to Jiu Jitsu so I was a bit intimidated to train at a new gym. This gym has a GREAT culture! 5 minutes into warmups and I felty at home there. The instructors and the students I met were first class. Got some good rolls in and learned some things. The coaches knew I was only there for a couple days and still took time to show me a couple of specific techniques I needed to address. I appreciate the opportunity to train with y'all. The overall atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming from the moment you walk in. There are three treadmills, one elliptical, and on stationary bike for cardio - you can come by any time the studio is open and use the equipment. Three small training rooms are available for individual training, as well as a larger room for various classes (yoga, zumba,...) The trainers all appear friendly and knowledgeable - I have first hand experience with my own trainer as well as the owner, Terri, of both their knowledge, support of their clients achieving their personal goals, and caring for them as people (and not just clients). It all makes for an experience where I *want* to work-out (as opposed to "should" or "have to").

I've been doing Crossfit now for almost 2 years and I started and have stayed with Crossfit…read moreAggieland. The atmosphere here had been so encouraging and I've grown so much since I began with them. It's been thrilling to have been a member as the m gym has grown and grown, in both class sizes, coaches, talent, and even the size of the physical gym! CFA offers skills training and yoga on Sundays, and have quite the Saturday morning crowd every weekend. In the summers they offer lifting classes and throughout the year, there are healthy eating challenges to participate in. They also have an in-house competition every October that offers a chance to test yourself just within your gym, and they encourage participation in the Crossfit Open every spring. CFA offers 10 classes a day, which makes it really easy to switch around if needed, but what I find wonderful is that the class times each have their own personalities and a solid group of the same people that attend every day. The coaches are always on the same page and go through and breakdown the movements, even when it's a class of veterans. There is usually two coaches for every class, but depending on the time of the class, there are usually two or three more coaches who will stop what they are doing to watch your lift and give you pointers, especially during the busy afternoon classes. Along with having a solid set up for the gym, and programming that is incredibly on point, the entire atmosphere of CTA reeks of family. Six or seven times a year there is a pot-luck, pool party, or my favorite, the Craw-Fit boil. Over the past two years I've made some wonderful life-changes and CFA helped pull that trigger. I've done some things I never thought I would do and most days I feel stronger than ever. Even when I just absolutely do not what to workout, if I show up, I always feel good walking out. And the support from the other members has been astonishing. A lot of CF gyms talk about being the same way, but everyone at CFA has fostered that supportive environment and with that support, I have been able to participate in different events and do extremely well, even when I didn't think I would! I've also met some of the best people and made some of the best friends at CFA. I really can't say enough good things about my experience thus far, and I continue to look forward to the experiences in the future.

Although I've taken Jay's class before this one was structured differently. It was inspired by therapeutic yoga so at the beginning of class we talked about the purpose and class plan and started with breath work. It was a small group so they devoted more time to suggesting healthy recovery postures for my numerous athletic injuries. Jay and Donnalee are life long yoga practitioners dedicated to sharing their vast knowledge of yoga. I walked out feeling longer and lighter and was able to sleep soundly for an entire night without nagging back pain. I planned my entire trip around the class and I was so glad I made extra accommodations to be there at that exact time. Give this wonderful studio a try!
