We have been happy Lucas Irrigation customers for over a decade. We hired Lucas after receiving an exorbitant water bill due to a leaky (and we quickly learned, improper) sprinkler head installed at the lowest part of our yard by the prior company (a landscape firm, not an irrigation specialist). Lucas has made updates to our system over the years, including adding two zones, replacing sprinkler heads to accommodate landscape changes, and when Newton launched "irrigation only" meters, Lucas coordinated the entire plumbing effort. Today, Lucas tunes our system 2x during the watering season to ensure our lawn always looks great. We get advance notifications of their visits, and post-visit emails w/ either recommended changes or confirmation of changes made to improve system coverage. All-in-all, we have been very pleased with Lucas and can recommend them without reservation. read more

Stay away from this company. They are unprofessional. They failed to perform the job and notified me that they were refunding my deposit just a few hours before they were due here. This was apparently a good company a few years ago, but on asking around amongst contractors, the opinion was that they grew too big too fast, and are no longer providing good service. read more

You have to be careful with this company. I had a broken wire on zone 4. They sent 2 guys over. One guy was working on the wiring and the other guy was just standing there watching. He found the broken wire for zone 4. When fixing the wire, he cut off the wiring for zone 1-3. Now one zone was fixed, more zones were off. Oops, he had to re-wire zone 1-3. Then he messed up zone 3 with zone 6, and zone 6 was not working. Well said by another review, "Incompetence is an under statement". It tooks the guy 4.5 hours to fix a broken wire. What was second guy doing? Stood there watching like a customer. Here came the bill over $1,000. Are you ready for $1,000 to fix a broken wire? Are you ready paying the 2nd guy standing there watching or making phone calls in your backyard for $78.5/hour? You got it!!! read more

Having had some of the worst experiences with irrigation companies with our system at our summer home on Cape Cod I have become somewhat of either an expert or a person who just likes financial abuse by contractors. If it weren't for Maurer & Co and the brothers Maurer I would not know about this outfit. If Bruce and Jeff say they are good, then they better be just that.....or else. So when we bought the house 10 years ago the previous owner had let the lawns dry out and the system was in disrepair. In comes Lucas with a temporary solution which made me happy and especially Maurer & Co as the combination made the lawns lush in no time. So I get really into the yard, the irrigation system and once again Lucas designs an upgrade that is simple to use, and most importantly easy on the water usage. I can actually adjust the timer and stations to minimize overuse. Lucas is spot on as far as reliability and timely with reminders. If you leave in the 'burbs or around 128 I think these folks are the best bet. I have no idea if they are expensive but it boils down to the simple question you must ask yourself "could you fix it?" read more

This company did excellent work repairing my sprinkler system. Jake diagnosed why my sprinklers weren't working, replaced the heads, pointed them, and set the sprinkler timer. I had been so worried that my 1-year old sprinkler system had been damaged by winter freezing and fence installation and that it might be a big job to repair. But Jake put my mind at ease and tested and diagnosed what needed replacing from the fence install. Really happy with this company's work. I wish they had billed me right then and there for time and materials. They took my cred card info over the phone last week when I made the appointment. Still haven't seen the bill. To be fair, they did say when making the appointment that billing took 2-3 days. It's now Thursday. The work was Monday. Even a work order would have been sufficient. "Capped-off two sprinkler heads and tested water flow. Replaced 2 sprinkler heads with new x brand sprinkler heads." read more

Very unhappy with Lucas Irrigation. We have been sitting on a leak despite multiple visits from the company. When the system was turned on this past spring, we were not told about any problems, come to find that the system was noted to have low pressure and grass was dying. After much persistence and effort the company finally came out to identify and fix a leak. There was no initiative by Lucas Irrigation to follow up or outline a possible repair plan. Customer service requires attention to detail, which Lucas Irrigation does not have. Their staff are not knowledge. I would STRONGLY advise against using this company. I have watched my beautiful lawn wither away under their watch. After I left a review on Google, the company informed me they will no longer service my property. Lucas Irrigation installed a sprinkler system for our front lawn, and updated our controller to a Wifi system. The process to get a quote and schedule the work with the office was very smooth, and I received multiple email and text reminders. The crew was on time and professional; Daniel was very helpful and made sure to walk through all of the functionality in the mobile app and the controller. He even provided a great aerial map of the existing and new system so that maintenance going forward will be easier. read more

Lucas designed my system 7 years ago, and the layout of my property was challenging. Their designer and install team did a superb job, with a network of heads that integrate and cover every inch properly. Since then, I have found them very responsive to my needs, quickly coming over to tweak a setting, or replace a head (hey, that happens!), or checking my electronic controls. They send a two-person team, and sometimes I do question the need for that, but I must say that I am always well satisfied with their professionalism and follow-up. read more

July 2018: I have used Lucas on a 30 zone irrigation system at my home for a number of years. They have been a problem throughout but in June they dug up a couple of irrigation zones when they should not have and then refused to apologize and even tried to charge me for their mistake ($2,500). They have been aggressive and rude...even abusive. For example, this was the beginning of an email i received from their owner: From: Mark Lucas; mark@lucasirrigation.com Sent: 25 July 2018 09:21 You are truly a SCUMBAG ! As a result of this abuse I fired them. I am now happy using another, professional company. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Buyer beware. read more

Great company! I shopped around for the best price, quality products used for their systems as well as a general feeling of comfort with the outfit. Bill Throckmorton was my rep, very laid back, very knowledgeable / experienced and very responsive (via text no less at all hours of the day). And even when it was recently discovered that the city shut off my water when inspecting the new plumbing set up inside the house (due to getting irrigation installed), Bill went in to my home with my permission when I was out of town and adjusted the system (twice!) to make sure it's back on track. Lucas Irrigation clearly goes above and beyond and I couldn't be any happier with them. Highly recommended! read more

Horrible customer service. I called them to get a new irrigation system installed. The sales person who came by was on time and gave me good information and sent me an estimate promptly. However, the good experience ended there. We wanted some modification to the plan proposed and I had to call 3 times (and wait 10 days) to have someone call me back to discuss. Once we discussed the modification, I called them to go ahead and schedule it. I was told that they needed to talk to the techs and would get back to me the next day. A week goes by - no call. I call them back and they then tell me their plumber does not come to my town. This is now 4-6 weeks into the process. They may be good at what they do (I have no way of knowing that) but they are not good at customer service - at all. What a waste of time! read more

I was having a new walkway installed and needed a sprinkler head moved while I had the mason on the job. When the irrigation company I normally use couldn't come for a month I reached out to Lucas and explained my urgent situation. The very accommodating representative at Lucas explained that they were very busy but was able to fit me in for service the very next day.
