Ryan was extremely responsive to my ask for 12 tons of rock to be spread in my back yard. He suggested also digging out and resetting the "rivers" (the drainage channels of large river rock) which was a great suggestion as they now look great. We agreed price and a target timescale a few weeks out and he stuck to it. Hired Lucas lawn to trim our 30 foot mesquite and removed a nearly fallen 15 mesquite in our newly purchased house. They did stump removal as well which is why we chose them. After agreeing to the price they showed up about 3 weeks later with no prior warning. Trimmed and removed the trees causing damage to The surrounding plants and yard lights which I did not know about until getting home after work. When calling to discuss the damages, instead of taking ownership of the damages or offering any solutions it was quickly dismissed and stated that the damages were not possibly done by the trimmers and that I obviously was crazy. The damages was not extensive, but being dismissed so quickly left a truly bitter taste and I would not recommend them to any family or friends and will not be using them on the future. read more

Lifelong professional landscapers and family-own/operated business that does amazing work. I used Lucas Lawn to come out an fix a HORRIBLE install done by a different company 4 years ago. This was no small job as I am on an acre of land with 10,000 sq ft of grass. I was going to rip the entire lawn, sprinklers and everything out. But Ryan, the owner, came up with a much better solution that was less invasive and destructive and SAVED me a TON of money. He not only fixed and updated the irrigation system, HE SAVED THE ENTIRE LAWN AS WELL! They all wore company shirts, used professional equipment (including trucks and trailers) and kept the job site clean at all times. They have many crews and at times multiple trucks showed up to knock out the work quickly. Littering my neighborhood with stupid flyers stuffed into front doors is not welcome. I called and asked for someone come remove the unsolicited flyers. I was transferred to someone else who said it would be easier to just throw it away. When I said I'd report it as littering as they were blown about the neighborhood, he said "I'd like to see how that goes for you." That's a great way to earn business. These flyers are unwanted, a total waste and create a more negative brand impressions than positive. read more

We hired Lucas Lawn to install a new drip system and do cleanup on all our front yard plants and trees, which were seemingly, at the time, "beyond help." But as it turned out, they just needed a major haircut - a complete makeover, actually! Everything turned out great. We're super happy with the work, the yard looks great, and no probs with the new drip. Ryan was very easy to work with, responsive, and spent the time educating us about our yard. Lucas Lawn care quoted us at a reasonable price for what was being done, and did it with no hassles! They did such a good job with it, we wound up having them cut down some trees for us, which they did for very cheap and did a great job at! He quoted me a price and increased the prices by $100.00 He also insisted I do a one-time cleanup and spray pre-emergent (which didn't work very well) for $350. All of this was factored into my budget for landscaping. My yard isn't that big and it didn't take the guys that long to complete... under 1.5 hours. He suggested I wait the 2 weeks for the spray to work........ which after reading other reviews it will not work. I thought I was hiring a reputable company. read more

So far, so good. I called Lucas on a weekend for a quote. They called me back right away and scheduled me for Monday. On Monday they arrived on time with an employee who was knowledgeable and thorough, we walked the property and I had the quote within a few hours. Ryan Lucas was personable and helpful on the phone and assured me all his employees speak fluent English. The price was very reasonable, they were less expensive than some other companies by more than $100. I hired them to do a cleanup and trim my 6 queen palms. They came out as scheduled and did a great job trimming and cleaning the front and back yards, so I hired them for tree removal as well, scheduled in a few days. Update: The tree removal went well. But I discovered later that they had broken the glass in one of my yard lights. On a recent cleanup, the crew severed a string of Christmas lights I had on a ficus, and severed 2 hose lines to the sprinkler system. Cheap repairs but annoying :/ read more

Wow! I can't say enough good things about this company. David answered my call same day! I had called to other yard service providers and asked for quotes and I still haven't heard back. I was floored at the price he gave me to take care of some brush behind my fence line I thought it might be too good to be true. Once onside they handled themselves very professionally and offered to mow my yard while they were there (for a reasonable additional charge) I happily agreed. I am extremely impressed. Great service until you have a simple question and the office staff goes into defense mode. Apparently they get a lot of complaints and don't bother actually reading the questions in the email. Instead they send long, dreadfully long emails about their GPS and faulty email system. This will come in handy for some parents, as their emails could put a hyperactive toddler to sleep. All the while, the customer just wants an answer to a simple question. Instead, we're told to "read the contract". We're also told that "we know our competition and you'll be back". In the end, we cancel service and receive a final email with the typical hypocritical Christian "God bless you and your family" BS, but also....here's why we're right and you're wrong. Used them two times and must say there are much better landscapers out there that I will be hiring one of in the future. One thing that they did that was frustrating was they just showed up without confirming a day with me (2 times), thank goodness someone was home to let them in the backyard. Their prices are on the higher side considering the quality of the service is average at best. But mainly, the owner was super rude to me when on the second visit, (an annual service, none the less -) the work that we had verbally agreed upon was not completed and I had to call them back out to complete the job. The owner then proceeded to be argumentative with me and inform me that he "had written down everything on the invoice", which he had not and how "he'd had trouble with me all 3 times he'd serviced my house". - Interesting, because he'd only been there twice and the previous year there WAS an issue but it was with a neighbor's tree and not with me at all. So, in conclusion, they finished the work and my yard looks fine now - but I must advise that I would look further before doing business with a vendor that would talk to a female client so disrespectfully without having of their facts straight, very unprofessional. read more

We all know in Arizona that there are many Lawn services to choose from and this is the worst customer service I've ever received the receptionist/person that answers the phone is very rude . When they first came out for service all kinds of debris that should have been pick wasn't so me being the person that I am gave them another chance,everything seemed to be going okay then. Well they charged us a 110.00 for a so called weed treatment and gues what's growing all around our home WEEEDS. You don't want to work with this company and the owner's bad attitude. I agreed to have Lucas Lawn & Yard Care service my yard back in December. I met with Ryan at my house, he looked at the property, and provided a quote based on his experience running his business since 1994. He insisted that I sign a "Service Agreement" with him. Today, he emailed me to tell me that my rate is increasing by 67% because it is taking more time than he thought. He has decided that the terms of the "Service Agreement" do not apply to him. He also insisted when I signed up that he do a one-time cleanup and spray pre-emergent (which didn't work very well) for $405. All of this was factored into my budget for landscaping. I tried to explain to him that what he is doing is called bait and switch, but he doesn't get it. He's going to respond to this review the exact same way that he has responded to all of the others. "I'm right and you're wrong." I've posted his original email to me and my response. I wish that I could post his full, long-winded, nonsensical, response which blames me for his inability to quote a job and run an efficient business, but Yelp says that I'm out of space so I gave you a partial. You decide. Here's the meat of his original email to me: Thank you for choosing Lucas Lawn Care to offer you regular service the last 4 months. When I give a service price for a new customer the price is basically a guess as to how long on average, I think the crew is going to need to be on site each visit. Now that we have some history of visits, I can figure out an average. That average shows the men are just needing to take a little longer than expected to service your yard. So, I need to raise your price by $74 per visit starting in May. I have talked to Javier and he has confirmed that the yard is going to need this amount of time on average to keep it looking the way you have been asking him to keep it. My response: This is an outrageous bait and switch tactic. Shame on you. You, the expert, who has been in business since 1994 came to my house, looked at my yard, and told me the cost to take care of it on a monthly basis. I agreed to pay you to $405 to do a one-time cleanup even though you were taking over immediately from my previous company. I agreed to pay more for your service than I had been paying previously and I even agreed to pay $130 for a pre-emergent service that was intended to keep the cost of service down for a year, but doesn't work very well (there are currently lots of weeds on my property (the day after service) - see attached example photo taken this morning). I even signed a "Service Agreement" with you. Now, after 4 months including the months with the most growth that will take the longest to service, you send an email telling me that you plan to disregard your service agreement and raise my rate 67% because it is taking more time than you expected? Javier and his crew do a nice job and I hate to lose that service, but I have not asked him to "keep the yard the way I like it" beyond pointing out items that should be taken care of in the normal course of service. Yesterday when he was here, the only things I asked were to trim the overgrowth on the 2 trees near the front door that he could reach from ground level and to make sure that the hedge was taken care of since it was not addressed on his last visit. I see two options here. The first is that you continue to honor your service agreement and commitments at the price we have agreed. I am not looking for perfection. I am willing to have a little bit less service if that helps. The second option is that we part ways and I post reviews detailing your bait and switch tactics so that your future customers will be warned. Under the second option, you will also immediately refund the $130 that I paid for the pre-emergent service since my new landscaper will include the cost of dealing with the weeds in their price and will not recognize that I already paid for this ineffective service. His response: Since the "bait and switch" item will not be on any other reviews potential new customers will not see a pattern. Also there are so many 5 star reviews they will question yours more at being a one star. Our service agreement has a 30 day notice of cancelation that either party can cancel not an annual 12 month contract. so we can part ways now if you want since I contacted you the next day after a visit or you can get one more visit from us and that will be our last visit making it an official 30 calendar days. My guys will know to only spend the time that your price is buying so that last visit would be less work than what has been happening. I'm not trying to make things hard for you or emotional, again I just want to make sure my company is making something on each visit vs nothing. What would be the point in a company servicing a yard and loose money? I'm sure you get paid to do your job, correct. read more

Did not do a complete job, had to come back. Paid over $350.00 to have weeds pulled, weed killer sprayed and pre-emergence sprayed. I have weeds everywhere still. In fact my backyard has more and bigger weeds than I had before they came. They even sent me a late payment bill before they even finished the job. read more

Terrible! I contracted with Lucas for total yard care. Went well for first visit, subsequently all his unsupervised hispanic workers did was rake, leafblow and left. I disputed his billing for not performing any plant and tree care. Lucas contracted a collection agency and reported to credit agency. Lucas is more focused on getting customers money than satisfying customer with proper work. Stay away from Lucas. He's a nightmare. read more

I have been using the service for almost 3 months. When I first moved in I found Lucas Lawn service's card in the irrigation systems timer. On the back of the card it had the zones written out for the system. I assumed they must be the ones that have taken care of the yard before, so I would give them a try. When I called in I spoke to Tammi and she confirmed they use to service the house. She said the owner Ryan would give me a call. He called me later that day. He said the house use to be serviced and he didn't need to come out and see the yard. He would just give me the price the old house owners had. It was $60 bi-weekly and that included mowing the back yard, weeding the yard and flower beds, and rotating the trimming of the front and back yard flower beds. I agreed to it and they started. A few weeks in I saw there were weeds coming in and I called Ryan about it. I told it was grassy weeds. He said there was a chemical for grassy weeds and his lead was the only one that could apply it because it was expensive. He sent his supervisor out the next day to look at the yard. His supervisor agreed it was grassy weeds and he would take care of it on the next visit. A few weeks went by and the weeds just got worse. On June 1st I responded to an email from Tammi letting her know I was not happy with all the weeds in the yard. She asked me to send pictures, which I did. She said it would be taken care of. By June 30th, I was beyond frustrated. The yard is not very big, and half of it is now weeds. I let them know to cancel my service because they did not take care of the weeds, nor was the yard showing any sign of getting better. I get an email back from Ryan saying it was the first he had heard that I had a weed problem and wanted to send his new supervisor out. I told him I wasn't waiting another month, while paying to see results. He came back with another email with a threat of my contract and technically I needed to give 30 days notice. Whatever, I let him know I didn't appreciate that since he didn't hold up his end of the contract. I finally just called him to get to the bottom of it. He was polite but acted like we had never talked. It was the first time he had heard of the grassy weed problem and he didn't think they serviced the house before I started. Really!! He agreed they dropped the ball on communication, but said there wasn't much they could do with grassy weeds. Why didn't you tell me that 2 months ago Ryan??? Why was today the first I heard of that and that you charge extra for that kind of weed control. Anyway, they aren't a terrible service if you just want mowing and trimming (but there are others just as good and cheaper) but I can NOT recommend them for customer service, lawn and especially not weed control. read more

Response from Lucas Landscaping not true. First of all, I told him I had the same landscaper for the last 5 or more years! He came out only once to see the problems....I wanted low palm fronds trimmed off where they blocked the pool deck and diving board. These were not the high ones...he wanted a really high amount per tree for annual trimming.. Had someone else do that. Crew did not do a good job...new landscaper was amazed..paid them to do a complete cleanup of yard before they started regular schedule. Lucas took my last payment, but did no work after that... He still owes me! Very happy with my new landscape company... Like night and day! I notice he always has some kind of answer to everyone who complains...should spend more time training his crew! read more

Awful! I contacted Lucas Lawn after I received one of their flyers on my door. They post their rates on their site which seemed reasonable so I called and they informed me that someone would still have to stop by to give me a estimate. After they stopped by, the quote I received was TWICE the amount listed on their site. When I explained that I was not prepared to pay that amount, Ryan, the owner, became rude and arrogant on the phone. Stay away from this company. I recently had Lucas Lawn & Yard Care remove a tree trunk and cut a fractured limb from a larger tree. The crew worked quickly and were gone before I knew it. They handled both jobs in less than an hour. The tree trunk was approximately 3' in diameter and 10 feet tall. When I went out afterwards, I was unable to tell where the trunk had been. The guys not only pulled the trunk, but they took the time to push the decorative rock out of the way prior to starting. Once the trunk was removed, they distributed the rock over the area. If I did not know the trunk was there, I could not tell. The fractured limb was close to the same diameter, but much longer. With all of its off shoots it was closer to 30'. The limb was mostly beyond my property line into a common area of the HOA. I notified my HOA property manager to let him know a licensed, bonded and insured landscaping crew would need to work in the common area by my property line. Other than the fresh cut on the tree, you could not tell any tree work had been performed. Everything had been cleaned up and hauled away. There were no remnants from the branch in my yard or the common area. I highly recommend Lucas Lawn & Yard Care. They have performed one other special job for me (trimming of bushes along the property fence so it may be painted). Lucas is also my biweekly gardening service and annual trimming of five trees. I have been a client for over five years and have never been unhappy with the service. read more

I was very very impressed by how attentive Ryan was to my inquiry and how quickly he was able to get me an estimate. I was also very impressed with how he conducts his business. This was all before they even came out to do any work. Yesterday his crew came out and did an initial clean up. I was super impressed with the work that they did. They did a great job cleaning up my palms and just how they worked the yard. They fertalized, took care of my watering schedule, and were very quick. I couldnt be more impressed.
