I moved to the area about 6 months ago and have done my hair at Lucia's about 3 times. This salon is truly a great find! From the receptionist to the stylists, everyone is very friendly and professional. I had my first ever balayage appointment yesterday with Carolyn, and I must say, Carolyn did an great job matching the color to exactly what I wanted.'The color I selected is a reddish brown with a slight hint of copper. It looks super vibrant yet natural, and gives the extra pop I was looking for. Although I am trying to grow my hair out at the moment, Carolyn also gave me excellent cut my visit, which complemented my curly hair very well. Also, the salon took diligent measures to make sure everyone is safe by taking a temperature check and having clients complete a questionnaire related to COVID. my hairstylist Erin was late 35 min! when i walked in, I was told that she is wrapping up and should be with me in couple of min. after waiting for 15 min I asked how much longer it will take. I was reassured that she is almost done. I was sitting right in front of her and she didn't even acknowledge / apologize for being late. when she was done with her client, she spent another 5 min taking pictures of the hair she just colored and chatting with that client. receptionist had to remind her that I am waiting. when she finally approached me, she just said sorry and starting cutting the hair. i was hoping that at least she would focus on making sure I get a nice haircut, but it ended up being disastrous. I was a first time customer two weeks ago, and was thrilled to be able to get a haircut, style, and full highlights for just $79 via Groupon. With such a great deal and few negative reviews online, I had nothing to lose. The salon is small and basic. There's a lot in a small storefront. The staff is incredibly nice - from the receptionist to my stylist to all of the other ladies who worked in the salon. They all had smiles and were friendly to talk to. My stylist was quite friendly, making small talk and asking lots of questions about what I wanted (a welcome departure from other salons where I often say what I want and am met with "ehhh this would be better for you..."). I was happy when I left the salon with a professional blowout that neatly curled the ends of my hair under. But after washing and drying it myself the next day I found that I really wasn't happy with the cut or the color. The long layers are really more of a singular layer (hair in two different uneven choppy lengths) and the highlights are a bit blotchy where they were supposed to one just a touch up of the roots to match with my old highlights. It wouldn't be so bad if the flaws weren't so visible, but I have had several people point them out I'll be going to a salon to get my hair done again very soon, but unfortunately it won't be this one. read more

I have been going Lucia C Salon for 8 years now for my cuts, keratin, and up do's for events. I'm always so pleased when I leave. The staff is always so kind, attentive, and in an upbeat mood. Carolyn is my go to for haircuts and she always listens to what I want. She never takes off too much, and she gives me exactly what I ask for. I've also had the same experience with Jamie. The place is always clean, they're never rushing you and they really take their time. The also have great prices for the services and aren't overpriced like a lot of other salons. I asked for the price and she said $35 for cut, blow and dry. I liked the price and the hair that came out of that salon so I gave them a try. Jaimee, my new stylist is friendly, bubbly and knowledgable. I had a bad hair day since my last hair cut 3 weeks ago. I'm not a planner when it comes to getting my hair cut or colored. Typically what happens is one day I'm having the worst hair day ever and decide I need to either cut or color my hair. (Or both) What ALWAYS makes this spontaneous hair decision difficult is that I want to make a same-day appointment. So my search began by simultaneously looking for an online deal while Yelping reviews on the corresponding businesses. Unfortunately I couldn't find an online deal and ended up going by reviews, a word-of-mouth recommendation from a friend, and by same-day salon appointment availability. And that landed me at Lucia C. Made an appointment for a cut and blow out and booked it with Lauren Walker (there are 2 Lauren's at this salon). She is phenomenal! I admit I get nervous when coming to a salon for the first time, but she was incredibly friendly and welcoming. There never was an awkward silent moment and she even gave me some hair knowledge on coloring. I've been coloring my hair for over a decade and have been worried about the damage it's causing my hair. We discussed the processes that I've been doing and she suggested to just do a root touch-up instead of a single process color since that's all I needed. (THANK YOU!) She made me realize I've been over processing my hair. AND that I've been wasting money doing it since a root touch up is obviously less expensive than doing an all over single process. And because of that honesty, I booked a color appointment with her the following week for that root touch-up which also was done very well. The only thing I can be super picky about is that she wasn't exactly thorough with the initial hair consultation (when getting the cut). It was good that I remembered to tell her to cut the bottom at a "V" instead of straight across/blunt. She also didn't ask how I wanted to part my hair, but I didn't say anything either so that's my bad. After I washed my hair I noticed it was more straight/blunt at the bottom than I wanted but because of her awesome personality I'm not too upset about it. Overall I highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for cut, color and blow outs. read more

I've been a Lucia customer for four years and have frequently left satisfied with the outcome. If I didn't leave satisfied, which happened all of twice, I went back and the stylist or another stylist fixed it no extra cost. Lauren Walker has been my stylist, helped me explore many colors, grow it almost a foot long and maintained bangs for free. I can come in for a tiny trim and she'll charge me half price or do my eyebrows for nothing. They are very accommodating. I'd also like to praise Lucia for being a good business owner. I found this salon after purchasing a GroupOn - I have returned several times since and am increasingly happy with how my hair is done each time I leave. Gabi has been my stylist from the first appointment and I am SO glad I found her! A friend of mine got a haircut here by a very friendly/fun redhead girl with tons of energy, the haircut was amazing so I decided to give the place a try a few weeks later. I made an appointment with a random stylist and got "carolyn". She was fantastic, explained everything before she did it, actually listened to what I wanted, and gave me a fabulous haircut! I was very impressed by the price! I have long hair and only paid 37 for a wash/cut/blowdry. Unlike other cheap-o salons, this place included the wash and blowout in the cut price (as opposed to a-la-carte salons which charge about $30 for each service) I will CERTAINLY be back. I used a groupon - the price was $59 for a haircut and partial highlights plus they charged me $15 extra for a toner. I had Gabby who isn't the nicest person you've ever met. She has a very "know it all" personality and I think she just doesn't want to work at this "homely" salon. She probably thinks she belongs at Core in Randolph or something. The highlights were too light so I had to go back a week later to get the toner right. It looks fine now that it's retoned but i didn't get the multicolor highlights I wanted. The salon itself is dirty, the bathroom sink is dirty, the Keurig coffee machine is dirty, the hairdressers stations are dirty and they don't seem to have many tools. The typical client is a 45 year old white woman looking for a bob trim or a PERM! Very dowdy, slouchy type of employees there who yap on and giggle all over the place unprofessionally. I've been going to this salon for probably eight years now. You're supposed to get a free haircut based on how many times you come in for different services. As I said, I've been going there for eight years, and I have never got a free anything. Their prices went up because they remodeled and added a 'color room,' however I've only ever seen the staff eating in there and watching tv. Even when I got my hair colored I was out in the regular salon area. I referred a friend of mine, and they charged her for having long, thick hair when her hair is shorter and thinner than mine and I've never been charged for that. A few times my friends and I have gone there and gotten uneven haircuts. It seems to be when the stylist is in a rush. I love the staff, they're very nice, and that's part of why I've stuck around this long. The other reason is that they had reasonable prices, but every time I go they seem to be raising them. Previewed the website to see what types of promotions they offered before I scheduled an appointment for Tuesday to take advantage of their senior discount. upon paying I noticed I was not given the discount, I asked and was told it stopped in January of 2018, so I mentioned that it was on their site, the receptionist said " we can't do everything, it was changed in January and we only offer Wednesday now". How rude, they need to update their site it is now going into April you would think that four months was enough time. wonder if this is a way to make extra money off their clients.With no magazines, uncomfortable chairs in the waiting area and in dire need of hiring a cleaning person. It is hard finding a great salon that will help you out even if it means you don't necessarily go to them. I don't get my hair cut often because I don't have the time, nor do I see the importance of cutting it so often. I got Lauren and she was great! I usually get my hair cut in the NYC because of the price compared to New Jersey's price and I was there at least once a month. But I had to start looking for a new location since I didn't go to the city as often as I normally do. I had a friend that recommended this place and I am glad she did. It close to the price I would have paid in the city and very reasonable. I don't like spending a lot if I don't think it is worth it. I got Lauren and I knew her from high school since we had graduated together. I had told Lauren what I like and things I didn't like. I also told her what I needed. Since I don't cut my hair often as I should I tend to get a ton of split ends. Lauren had offered many suggestions and listened to what I needed and what I didn't like. I had also colored my hair and she gave me options where it wouldn't ruin my hair since it is very thin. I liked it so much that my sister had gone to her to fix a hair situation that she didn't know how to resolve. Lauren had given a ton of information to help my sister and told her what had happened to the hair follicles. Knowing this information had helped me, sister, to get what was needed. Lauren cared a lot of what we needed and was very helpful. In the end, I was very pleased with the entire experience. It is hard to get a location that cares what the customer needs and pay at a decent price. I'm so glad to have found this location and I do not say this because I knew Lauren it is because it is the honest truth. I found this salon on yelp for my wedding. I don't live in NJ and had no idea where to go. I did a trial early in the week, and it came out great. There were four of us that got our hair done here, and everyone of us had a great experience. I would certainly recommend them for weddings or any events where you need your hair done.
