I followed Beautician Lynn from her previous location. She is a wonderful addition to this new location. While on the highway, turn into the Spa parking lot BEFORE Sogo Japanese restaurant, or you will easily miss the salon. The front door is the diagonal door located on the left hand side. Any other door won't allow access in, and the stylists can't hear you knocking on the window as I had done. I got my usual balayage service and it came out wonderfully! Lynn is so talented, knowledgeable,and fun to chat with. I'm not usually chatty Kathy otherwise, but she makes it easy to become that while in her chair. The space itself if clean and spacious, playing the latest music tracks which creates a fun environment. They have a candy bar, and I hear they serve mimosas also. I will definitely be back. Just to advise about the drama of the other 1 star reviewers: it was negative 0 in NJ the week they had that incident. I heard that the pipes froze and broke hence all the water and the madness that ensued. First of all, the outside of the place is somewhere you would easily overlook when driving by, and SHOULD. Some of the stylists are talented, but it isn't worth dealing with the owner, Ricky. After the salon entrance started flooding and water poured on the ATM machine & near the computers, which by the way - you should be grateful that ceiling tiles didn't fall on your customers and that a dangerous fire didn't erupt - customers had to drive with full foils in their hair to another salon for their expensive services to be completed. Fortunately no one got into a car accident while driving with foils in their faces. When the owner was called about the situation, he was confrontational and obnoxious. He is unprofessional and a disgrace of a business owner. No apologies, no concern or regard for others. He reluctantly provided a partial refund after bringing the customer to tears from screaming at her. Clearly the owner is lacking in both the intelligence and refinement departments. I personally went into Atelier Salon and left my phone number SPECIFICALLY FOR RICKY and told the girl at the front desk I needed to speak with the OWNER about recent service. Of course Ricky did not call me because he is spineless coward who is obviously running a circus. Instead, he had a female manager reach out to me who acknowledged in her voice-mail that I wanted to speak to Ricky, not anyone else. Cowardice at best. Ceilings falling down are not an act of God (Ricky's words) - they are an act of negligence. Further, the majority of the reviews on here are a gross misrepresentation of the salon and actual service. At least 5 of the people who left glowing reviews are personal friends or family of one of the stylists here, which you will quickly discover if you look up their names on Facebook. Biased opinions are not an accurate indication of what your experience will be at Atelier. I will not name the stylist I am speaking of because I, unlike you, am not a bully. I will say shame on you, as a representative of Atelier, for endorsing the abusive behavior of your boss and making your friends write reviews in your defense when you had no involvement in the situation whatsoever (the review was solely about Ricky). If you are truly such a talented stylist then your reputation should not be tarnished by issues with your boss if you STAY OUT OF IT. Worse comes to worst you can go back to doing hair in your basement behind your boss's back as was always your modus operandi at your last job, which I'm sure you were fired from. Go to Atelier Salon if you want to support men who berate women. Actually don't go to Atelier. Go to Depasquale, All Styling Studio, Bliss, Eutopia, 7West, literally anywhere else. P.S. - the owner's response to Kristin's review on Google is a JOKE. She said Kelly did a wonderful job on her hair more than once. Clearly your reading comprehension is as substandard as your customer service. P.S. #2 - Glad you were taking videos andd pictures of the leaking ceiling instead of ensuring the safety and comfort of your customers. P.S. - #3 Kristin's review had nothing to do with any stylists, including the one that did her hair, or any other employees. It was solely about how unprofessional Ricky is. I have been going to this salon for five years. It used to be called Fusion Spa and new owners bought it and moved across Route 46 into a new building Cali has been doing my hair for years and she does a great job I recently had an issue with the manager after I got my hair done and it is still not resolved to my satisfaction After got my hair done and went to pay my bill using my Visa card they informed me there will be an $8.38 surcharge to you to use my credit card with our new system I told them you never told me there would be a transaction fee and I'm not paying that fee the lady who rang me up said it's too late I already processed the charge but next time you come next we will waive the fee She did tell me you can use the debit card give us cash or use the ATM to avoid that charge or pay by check They have an ATM at the corner and I know they get money if you use that I am so dissatisfied they never told me before my appointment they said they sent me an email and they would not cancel that charge and redo another transaction I called Visa and was told this is illegal in many states and not good business practice at all I went back the next day to talk to the office manager and again they refused to credit my credit card I told her I was going to put in an appeal to visa for the $8.38 When I told her what VISA told me she goes this is legal were allowed to do it they have since called me twice and I really do not like the attitude and I will never go back It is such a shame that a great hairdresser like Cali will be punished because of greedy business owners Again Cali is great but I refuse to do business with a company that penalizes me for using my credit card one of the owner told me they recently started doing this because we haven't increased prices, etc. I really don't care , I will go somewhere else and never go to Atelier again! read more

Just got home from another wonderful experience at Atelier in Denville. I had gone for the first time back in the spring, at that time just to get a cut. This time I got color and cut. So impressed, the whole staff is friendly, welcoming and work as a team to make each customer feel like a VIP. Everyone checks in with you, offering snacks and beverages, and making sure you are comfortable. My stylist, Alissa took the time to talk with me and not only learn what I wanted from this visit, but what my long term hair vision is. She created a beautiful natural looking color that compliments my natural hair color and skin tone. She made the whole experience a relaxing mini vacation from the craziness that is my life. Most amazing service and experience!! My mother has been seeing a stylist for many years who recently moved to this salon my Mom drives about an hour to go here. At first I thought an hour for your hair no way...now oh yes!!!! Rochelle is the most amazing most accommodating kindest person ever and her talent is incomparable! Her assistant is the best as well so warm and helpful and knows her stuff! I had a bad experience prior to this at another place and my hair was a wreck they had a lot to fix. I was home for the holidays and went with my Mother to the salon just to keep her company with a small hope maybe if there was a cancellation they could fit me in. Great salon! I got a complete color change for the fall and loved the work stylist Metal Kat did. She helped choosing which colors would look best on me and applied them with artistic precision. The salon is warm and welcoming and offers late hours which is nice so I can go after work. They also have snacks! Talented hairdressers but I couldn't believe the way I was treated by the owner, Ricky. I went for a balayage, lowlights and a haircut. While foils were in my hair, the ceiling panels by reception collapsed and water flooding the entrance. The fire department came, they shut the water off so my hair dresser could not rinse my hair. They poured gallons of cold water on another woman's hair. A hair dresser knew someone at another salon and asked if myself & the other woman could go there. My car was wedged behind a fire truck so I had to maneuver my way around it for several minutes. I drove to another salon with full foils in my hair, in my face in 10 degree weather. She did a very nice job. I was told I would be called the next day for billing but I tipped $75 (22%) as she said it was $350. The receptionist called and asked for the money. I was already surprised by the cost but was especially surprised that I was being charged the same amount as a client who had a normal, enjoyable and relaxing experience. Getting your hair done is supposed to be a treat. I understand the situation was not a predictable one but a smart business owner would have at least apologized for the experience. So I asked the receptionist if I could speak to the owner, Ricky. I was calm and polite from the start but he had an attitude. I said to him that I was very surprised that he HIMSELF didn't apologize for what had transpired given it was a very abnormal experience and instead had his receptionist call and ask for the money(cowardly of him). At this point he still doesn't apologize. So then I say that I know he is running a 15% off prebooking special and I'm surprised he wouldn't have at least applied that for me given the circumstances of my visit and he responded "that's for our loyal customers"... He then says"I have pictures of your hair" I told him over and over I was happy with my hair and that she was very talented. He was missing the point. He turns it around saying I'm kicking him while he's down when he has to pay for damage and how dare I... Really? How about insurance? It was unfortunate but I am still the client and he was not acting professional at all. Raising his voice and getting nasty "What do you want it for free huh??!" When all I said is that I was surprised he appeared to not care that I did not have a normal experience and didn't even acknowledge it. I pointed out that the other client went on and on about how she better get a discount and he said "that's her and this is you". He claimed that I was "trying to beat *hair dresser* out of her commission" to which I replied "Again, this isn't about *name*, but if you being decent to your customers means taking away from your employee, that's on you" he told me that I needed a "reality check" and I said "I haven't been unpleasant to you at all I'm not sure why you've been so nasty to me" He then begrudgingly offered 15% off NEXT time to which I said I wasn't sure if I wanted to go back after the way he has treated me so then he said he would mark in my file that I wasn't welcome back.. My file.. What a joke. At this point I was very upset, practically in tears and said that I regret calling & to forget about it. He again started yelling that I was in the wrong and he could not believe I was doing this and I finally said "I CANT BELIEVE YOU THINK THAT MOVING MY CAR AROUND A FIRETRUCK, DRIVING TO ANOTHER SALON WITH FOILS IN MY FACE IN 10 DEGREE WEATHER IS NORMAL F YOU" and hung up. A few minutes later the receptionist called me back and refunded me 20%. Although I did receive a discount in the end, it should not have taken such a nasty encounter to get me there. Everyone that I've told this have been shocked at how unprofessional Ricky was. I've worked in the service industry for 5 years. I know the appropriate etiquette. I was not being unreasonable or vicious and did not deserve to be verbally attacked. I went in trying to get my blonde hair back to my natural color and Alexis was great. She toned my hair down and it looked so great. I felt like she understood exactly what I wanted for a color and cut. Especially after getting a botched haircut a month ago she is working with me to fix the damage. This is the salon you always wanted to go to. The hair dressers are very skilled without a wiff of snobbery. Everyone who works there professional, warm and friendly. From the moment you step in you are made to feel welcome. The salon has a relaxed comfortable feel and you can tell they really care. I used to shlepp into the city to Devachan and pay a fortune (plus tolls, plus parking...) I would happily put up with the excess time and moola if the cuts were fabulous, but after 2 years it just wasn't worth it. A friend recommended Denise and what can I say but lucky me! Denise is just superb. She is super skilled and creative - she listens and has excellent people skills - you will feel cared for and leave looking just wonderful. If I could give this salon ten stars I would. Coming from a very botched bleach job, I was hoping for a natural-looking blonde color that would suit my complexion. The manager, Joe, was very kind and professional- clearly stepping me through each part of the process. He personally picked out my new shades, and I ended up leaving with an absolutely gorgeous ash blonde. Beyond happy with the results. Last night, Atelier Salon decided to post a photo from the Wizard of Oz, with a house crushing the witch to announce that one of their stylists were leaving on instagram. I cannot begin to explain the amount of anger this has caused for Atelier clients. It was extremely unprofessional, embarrassing, and down right childish. Customers of the stylist were commenting on the post, and Atelier decided to go ahead and delete the comments from the clients and then block them from the social media page. I am not sure how management of this salon finds this at all acceptable, but I can assure you that they will be losing plenty of business because of this situation. The post has been shared by many people throughout the day warning others to stay away from this salon. The repercussions of their actions is beyond well deserved. I am so happy Rochelle has decided to leave this salon anyway, it was completely outdated and the receptionists/management always seemed like they had better places to be.. and were never educated. I've been going to Rochelle for over 10 years and followed her here - I couldn't be more pleased with this salon. From the front desk receptionists, management, assistants, to my personal hair wizard of course, I feel so welcomed every time I walk in the door.
