Wow, wow, wow. Let me gather myself before completing this review because, Lawd. I received blessings from my ancestors this Black History Month as I finally made time to get to Lucille's and my soul is HAPPY. After seeing my fellow Elites, Kim and Kamia, rave about Lucille's, I knew I had to visit! I absolutely love Gainesville, but it's difficult to find great southern cooking, with no tofu, kale or upgraded extras in tow at times. Not at Lucille's. This is a restaurant serving your favorite comfort food just like your grandma makes! When I entered the unassuming restaurant tucked away in an eerily quiet plaza, I almost thought I was in the wrong place. But nope! There's Lucille's, the true star of the lowkey plaza. Upon entry, you're greeted by walls adorned with images of black heroes in history and glowing pics of their team - I love it! I was immediately taken back by the delicious aromas in the air on my first visit on a Friday when the Pot Roast, Turkey Wings and Fried Wings were on the menu. Everything looked DELICIOUS!! I'm terribly indecisive and went with wings on my first visit. They were out but no worries for me, the cook fried me up an 8-piece fresh!! These wings were SO GOOD! Fresh, crunchy, juicy, omg. On my 2nd visit, I went with the oxtails and wow. Who told my greedy self to go back on a weekday for an incredible portion of Oxtails, to then find the nerve to ask for extra gravy? *Facepalm* I'll no longer be an XS if I keep going here and eating like this, but I'd risk it all! Delicious food, people that make you feel like you're amongst family and supporting a local black owned business, what more could you want? Yesterday 5-10-24 was my first visit to Lucille's. I kept hearing about that oxtail dinner. I ordered my husband and I the oxtail & rice dinners with mac n cheese, cabbage, green beans, and cornbread. Everything was delicious. My husband who is from the country and is used to good southern home cooking, said it was "off-the-chain"! The portion size was more than enough. We both had leftovers for the next day. The price was so reasonable. Friendly service. Hopefully the word gets out of their new location. They have moved next to Eastside High School. Luckily my friend gave me the phone number. I highly recommend Lucille's. With food like this, I am sure that God is going to bless them to open up their very own restaurant and business is going to explode. We didn't take anything out of the freezer to cook, so I looked up local soul food restaurants with the highest ratings and this was it. I haven't done much ordering out since C19, and this was the first time in 2021, but I called in our orders for pick up at 4:15 PM. When I arrived to pick up my order the young lady said she doesn't have an order for me. Clearly, I was annoyed; I rushed out of the door blaming myself for this whole notion. By the time, I put my car in reverse the young lady was on the passenger's side saying she made a mistake and that she does have my order. The first shift took my order and the second shift dropped the ball. The young lady was gracious, she apologized, and defused the situation. The cabbage was balanced perfectly, not mushy, or crunchy. The macaroni and cheese was delicious. The cornbread was very good. The oxtails and rice were flavorful--a little more pressure on the ox tails would have been my preference, but overall the portions were significant and the food tasted good. read more

Excellent flavorful food in sizable portions for an affordable price. My parents are extremely opinionated about soul food and they rate this place high! Smothered /baked turkey wings, oxtails and beef stew was all very tender and delicious. Sides of cabbage, rice, green beans were great. (Sweet) corn bread was amazing. We eat here when we want home cooking But don't have the time. Tastes as good if not better! read more

I ordered through Grubhub, now I got the cheeseburger and fries, and the banana pudding. Now the cheeseburger didn't really care for that much but the fries were really good and well seasoned.. now the banan pudding is where it's at!!! It is BOMB AF!!!! the only way it could get better is if she added actual bananas to it. I will be ordering again! read more

Food is always good ! & They are reasonable. I have gotten soul food from other places and they try to over charge you , Lucille's does not . You get more than enough food for a good price. I hope to see them around for awhile . They are also always extremely nice when you go there . read more

The food is delicious but the attitude of the two servers, mainly the one wearing glasses is rude!! If this isn't something she wants to do then she should quit, I use to enjoy getting food from here but the lack of respect from the two ladies serving the food makes you not want to support black owners...the cashier and the cooks are always friendly, please do something about the negative attitudes read more
