The fries I believe were from SysCo or PFG, but these days it is hard to find a place that isn't using fries from them, and they are decent fries, so I am alright with that. I figured the counter was the place to be at a diner like this, so that is where I sat. The staff eventually got to me with a menu, and took my drink order. For my lunch, I went with the burger and an order of fries. They took a while to get out, made fresh (I assume) in the kitchen. I will say that the price is appropriate for the food, and the food is fair. Nothing really outstanding, but not bad either. What really stood out to me however was the general attitude of the staff. It was just... sad. They just didn't want to be there, resented working there in the first place, and had no qualms about showing that in their demeanor to everyone visiting the restaurant. Sadly, what this does is bring down the atmosphere of the place, which means that the guests don't really want to be there either, continuing the downward spiral. Frankly, despite there being so few places to eat in the Waldo area, I will most likely not be returning. I would rather drive up to Starke or down to Gainesville than eat here again.

You can go down there and buy something that someone flipped around, pre-processed somewhat filled with questionable meat or soy protein, loaded with msg and salt, who knows where it all was already made and pre-cooked before it even got there... I've seen the process from start to finish at our Burger Barn. They cook your burger fresh once you order it. If it were made already, it'd be ready for pickup at the window when you pull up to order... sounds like someplace you know? I've got the patience for something fresh, something consistently good and priced a lot cheaper than down the street, considering you're getting so much better quality! Staff was helpful and made good suggestions. Free refills on all drinks! We were there for about half an hour and maybe 30-40 cars cane through!! Burgers were kinda small, but delicious. The onion rings had to have onion powder in the batter!! They were deelish!! Every time I come to Hawthorne, I'll have to stop here for a bite!
