On a quick whim we decided to stop into The Wrap Shack for a late lunch for the first time today and were pleasantly surprised by this small town gem. I had the steak wrap and my husband had the chicken tenders, both with Fries. The food was great! The tenders good enough for my 3rd generation Publix husband to audibly state "these are better than Publix!" The vibes and service are kind and comfortable. This is a great place to stop if you're in the Hawthorne, Florida area. Nice patio to enjoy the beautiful weather outdoors, there are only a couple tables inside. We ordered the cheese sticks, they were OK, they were not my favorite. But the cheese curds were out of this world! I will definitely be getting these on my next visit. I did not get a picture of the shrimp Poboy, but it was delicious. Nice ripe tomatoes, perfectly fried shrimp with a drizzle of aïoli. The chicken Caesar wrap was crisp and fresh. My daughter could only eat half. Our server was great, it did take a few minutes for them to come out and take our order, but once they realized we were not waited on they were on top of it. Didn't go inside, they had plenty of outdoor seating. We were waited on right away. Outdoor seating has sun shades, but on a hot day it might be better to go inside. My wife had chicken tenders and they were moist and delicious. I had a catfish po' boy and I loved it. Only thing is I would have liked a bigger piece of fish, but the tastes made up for the smaller portion. We both had fries and a Thai tea, both were excellent. Not on the main strip so if you don't already know where this place is you probably won't find it without a gps. The only bathroom is outside on the side, but it was clean. This was SO GOOD! Stopped in on our way to Clearwater from Jacksonville. Everything was healthy and delicious. I'm not sure what spice they put on their fries but it almost makes it taste like sweet potato fries! Typical Mcdonalds but we tried The Wrap Shack and it was amazing. We split a wrap into 3's and had a side of creamy coleslaw ( i could have just eaten a bowl of it). The restaurant is severely understaffed. Kitchen staff has no proper training, especially with food safety and cross contamination. All of the chicken (Raw) that was being used for the day was left out on the counter for at least the 1 hour that we sat at the bar. The chicken was left out uncovered with flys swarming the area. The raw chicken was also placed next to the bread that was being used for sandwiches. The restaurant itself was pretty warm probably between 77-80 degrees so not ideal for raw chicken to be sitting out for more than 1 hour without growing bacteria and causing food borne illnesses. When we asked the one waitress that was trying to manage tables by herself if that was the chicken being used for meals the answer was yes. There was absolutely no management at the restaurant. The three total employees that were trying to run the restaurant were completely overwhelmed and not properly equipped. read more

The mozzarella cheese sticks appetizer was tasty but be warned that the marinara sauce on the side is served cold. The Mahi mahi wrap was excellent, but I personally would order it next time without the feta cheese. The low carb tortilla did not have any shortage of flavor and was an easy healthy choice. The garlic citrus rice was ok, but tasted like plain rice. I was expecting more flavor based on the menu description. On the other hand, the elote Mexican corn was perfect with great flavor. The hummus wrap with veggies was a no guilt flavor sensation. We found this place on our way from Tampa to Jacksonville and it made a great rest stop to recharge us for the last third of our trip. read more

We LOVED The Wrap Shack. Hawthorne has been in desperate need of a place to gather and eat good food--I'm so glad they've got this one. The food was wonderful. Our fries were perfectly crispy, everything was cooked, and everything had spectacular flavors. The sweet tea (a measure of any restaurant in the South) was delicious. Our waitress, Sydnee, was just the right balance of attentive. They've only been open about a month, so when it gets busy, it is probably a mess, but between 2-4pm is a good, slow time to go. Inside, there's plenty of seating, fans going to cool you down, and a TV to watch sports. The outdoor patio is adorable. There's plenty of seating, which will be great in the fall. The lights on top are the perfect touch to this place. I can't say enough good things about The Wrap Shack. Drive out to Hawthorne, go to Blue Star Nursery, visit one of the town's parks, maybe go by the public library, and stop for a nice lunch/dinner at The Wrap Shack. This place was great! We had a long drive and needed a place to get out and stretch our legs. There is a small playground with two slides which was perfect for our 2 year old.
