Went here with a large group and started with the most delicious, greasy amazing chips and salsas. This place is the epitome of a dive bar with surprisingly decent food (as well as a surprising number of vegetarian options). The service was really great and our server took the time to make recommendations and check with the kitchen with regard to food allergies in our group. Good food but terrible service. I stood next to the sign that said 'please wait to be seated' for 5 minutes before being acknowledged. The waitress asked me how many, to which I responded 2, and she told me just a moment and she would be back. Stood there for another 10 minutes while watching the waitresses take food to tables, take drinks to tables, take food orders from tables, all without acknowledging the fact that I was still standing there, now with 4 other people behind me. The restaurant isn't that big to begin with, and there were at least 3 open tables that I wanted to just go sit down at (I'm a rule follower though...). But finally we went and just sat at the bar, and proceeded to watching 3 other groups of various sizes stand there and have the same interaction as we did. Completely ignored until they say themselves or just left. Also heard the bartender say that they keep their phone off the hook when it gets busy, so don't plan on calling them ever. read more

Great in the winter but forget summer weekends unless you want to wait. Don't understand why they had a single bartender on a hot Saturday night in early August - for the entire restaurant! Owner nowhere to be found and unhappy folks all around. Maybe this place got too successful too fast. The above review was from 2015 and this is an update in July 2018. We still prefer eating here in the non-summer months as it's a bit more relaxed pace - meaning you can get a seat at the bar and have your meal there if you like. The food has always been good - my standard is three chicken tacos with a side of rice and if you're picky like I am - special orders don't upset them. I will say that the size of the cocktail glasses are small. I'm a beer drinker but my wife has a brandy old-fashion and they come in what is used as a "rocks" sized glass at most other places - a few ice cubes - a few swallows and the drink has disappeared. Not bad if it was priced accordingly but its too high for the size - no one likes a puny drink. Likewise, don't be impressed by the size of the glass the margaritas come in - the size is deceiving - it must be bulletproof glass because not much liquid fits inside. Complaints aside, it's still on our restaurant rotation - we make it here about every 4-6 weeks for a casual meal. read more

Let's get one thing out of the way: the food is FANTASTIC. Very delicious. Chips tasted fresh and guacamole was one of the best I've ever had. Margarita was good and the food is worth the price. HOWEVER, my family and I felt neglected by our server and felt that the service was lacking. First when we got in I had to flag down a server to get seated. When I flagged her down she said we can just find our own table in the back, even tho there was a sign that said "wait to be seated". Also other servers checked on their tables at least once every 5-10 minutes. Ours checked our table maybe 3 times the entire hour we were here. We had to flag the other servers down to get any service. Now I understand it was busy on Mother's Day but this was just a bit lacking Conclusion: good food, okay service. Still recommend the place. Absolute chaos. This is hands down the worst "restaurant" in the Geneva Lakes area. Lake Geneva diners beware this place is mismanaged and out of touch with customer needs. Decor? A crappy painting on the wall. Outside dining? They told us right as we walked in the door that we cant sit outside. Food?. Cold and not fresh Special shout out to the apparent owner, she was UNHELPFUL and my wife didn't get the FORK an KNIFE she asked for TWICE EVER. She ended up borrowing it from one of the frequently unattended tables around us. So much for an attempt. They Suck. Sorry I usually write only good ones, Lucke;s is very unlucky and are exceptionally bad. Drinks slow unless you belly up to the bar. They SUCK period. Dine at your own peril. read more

I really wish this place was larger and had better service because their food is amazing. I love all of the items i've ever gotten at Lucke's and highly recommend it if you have a taste for mexican food. Walked in today on a Wednesday night, other than the bar, it looked like a decent steady dinner crowd- the sign said to "wait to be seated" but a waiter signaled us to take a seat and someone would be with us shortly. We took a seat outside and waited. We waited and waited - and waited some more - until we realized not only is no one coming to give us menus, but no one is even checking in on their two other tables. Not willing to wait any longer, and not ready to gamble with the possibility of poor service, we walked out with out anyone noticing us leaving. I was very dissapointed to discover rice pilaf instead of spanish rice, the chimichanga was dry and tiny, and my tacos had no taste! Where is the salsa..guacomole..something?They need to talk to Tacos El Ray about freshness,size and ingredients...geez Paying 25 dollars to eat what looks like microwave food almost made me walk out. Not to mention they werent busy and we waited a half hour for this food, I could see the cooks back there goofing around and the two young waitresses just talking..Since I am a server myself I know this is unacceptable.I would never hire minors to serve in my resturant..they look good in jeans and a tight shirt but there service is awful!I know from experience..they dont know how to be good servers cause they have no idea what a real dining experience is all about.. We've been to Lucke's couple times. Crazy thing is we've had a house in William's Bay for the 13 years and never tried Lucke's until a year ago. We love the burritos. They are HUGE. The waitress actually talked us out of ordering anything but quac and chips and convinced several tables of customers to leave without ordering explaining that the kitchen was slow taking over an hour per order. The pace of her service matched the kitchen. Didn't even get a water refill. Had to track her down for our check. I'd have understood had the restaurant been packed but it was less than half full. If I could give this place 0 stars, I WOULD. was super excited to eat here, was very hungry after a day out on the lake with some friends and we all wanted some good Mexican. Once we were seated we ordered some margaritas when the very kind waitress asked for our IDs to be checked - totally cool and understandable, we were all over 21 and fine with it. THEN she came back and said the bartender would NOT serve us because our IDs were fake. Hm interesting because were all 23-24 and the IDs that were being questioned were out of state and from the south. The bartender (curly hair and blonde, hair was in low bun) then threatened to call the cops on our "fake IDs" where we told them to go right ahead as we all were of age. We then had to wait 45 minutes for the cops to come and clarify to the ignorant bartender that we in fact over 21 and we were finally able to obtain our legal IDs back. We also heard the bartender say to another employee how she "wasn't going to lose her liquor license over some underage bitches". (Rude) Overall, terrible experience 10/10 do not recommend if you want to enjoy a margarita with your enchiladas. read more

This was my first time at Lucke's Cantina. My parents had been here quite a few times and said I needed to try it. Their Guac is AMAZING probably the best I've had at a restaurant. My wife and I lived up in Fontana for seven months this winter to get out of Chicago. We drove by this place at least a few times a week for six months and never stopped in. Finally we went and we were pleasantly surprised. The concrete block exterior actually hides the warm and inviting interior! We came because of a restaurant.com coupon and I am glad we did. The food was pretty good and we had a nice time. I had the chille rellenos and my wife had a steak burrito. I'll admit I went in with modest expectations, but even those were scarcely achieved. What could have been a unique experience in the area turns out to be a glorified dive. The guacamole was the only good part of my meal, only to be distracted by the greasy "chips" served with them. The carne asada in the burrito was dreadfully overcooked. Our waitress seemed uninterested and (coming from a prior server) like she just wanted to get out of there, even though it wasn't even close to closing time. It was not busy we had to ask three times for chips and salsa and we were sitting at the bar. The third time was not even the bartender. Their Perfect Margarita is really good but you pay for it! My bahama mama was so yummy! Food was ok - not the best authentic Mexican I've had. My husband's and friend's burritos contained rice that was uncooked and still crispy, so they were not charged for the burritos. Good chips and salsa, but you have to pay like $7 for them. read more

Very unhappy with the food. Unable to comment on atmosphere or service as it was a pick up order. They should rethink advertising as a Mexican restaurant. My tacos had dry steak and TONS of cilantro.
