AWFUL SERVICE! We had a waitress who's name was Karyn L. She was the worst waitress I have ever had. She said that she "couldn't" do multiple checks. When we asked her why, she said it was because she didn't want to go back and forth for each payment when it got busy. We asked if we could pay early, and she stormed off and said, "I would have had to do it anyway!" So rude! She only came back once to give us our food and had some one else give us a refill. When we were going to pay, instead of coming to us, she yelled from the door (since we were sitting outside) to come in and pay. We all decided not to tip her (which I usually tip 20%) but gratuity was added. Great food though! If it weren't for the food I probably wouldn't come back. read more

Holy guacamole! Just left thee best breakfast we've ever had in Lake Geneva. They Ney Ney Sandwich, fried egg, applewood smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, avocado and pico de gallo between marble rye was absolutely fantastic and full of flavor. The breakfast quesadilla with chorizo and cheddar cheese was packed with flavor and easily enough for two! And the GUACAMOLE, well that of course was freshly made, nice and chunky and delicious! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner on the way out and promised we'd come back for dinner! He said that dinner time can be pretty busy, but assured us that it's worth the wait. This place is non-pretentious, casual, tasty, and a great place to stop in the Lake Geneva area for a delicious margarita, some chips and salsa, and a yummy burrito. Prices are reasonable and it has a nice outdoor deck. Went here for a first dinner date with a guy I met online after spending a beautiful summer's day together in Lake Geneva. We had the worst experience here. We came here on Tuesday and there was a sign saying to wait to be seated. We waited at least 10 minutes and tried to make eye contact with the staff and no one came over. Finally a customer came up and told us that they just sat down, and to go to the bar and get a drink and chips because no one came over to them for over an hour. We ordered water and sangria at the bar, and it took at least 15 minutes to get a warm small glass of sangria. The water and chips never showed up. We sat there for at least a half an hour, and finally I walked over the the bus boy and asked him if he could find someone to take our order and bring some water. After 15 more minutes, a server came over, and we gave her our order. The food finally came, but there is no excuse for the way they treat the customers. The food is great, and the service is horrible. Don't even try this place! They obviously don't want the business! read more

This isn't the first time I've been to Lucke's but the busiest. It was a Saturday night- we expected a wait. We ended up waiting 25 minutes for a table when they told us 15 or less. We were seated and our waitress was over right away to take our food order. Of course I order guacamole to go with the delicious chips and my entree which would be coming in the near future. First I would say our waitress was not friendly and not very personable. Honestly my husband and I joked we think they pulled a customer up to help the staff. We ended up waiting over an hour for our food and never got our guacamole. I could tell a couple of nice teenage boys that were bussers there felt bad and asked if we needed anything. On the other hand our waitress never stopped back. I finally went up to the waitress station to see if our food was almost up and that I was planning on leaving soon. The lady said sorry we are really busy not really apologetically. Finally our food arrived which was mediocre. Still no words to really show anything for wasting our time. Luckily we didn't have to be anywhere else. Arrival 6:15pm. Departure 8pm. Normally we wouldn't fault the waitress because usually it's the kitchen where the back up is but still she was very inattentive which was her problem. Needless to say we won't be back anytime soon. They really need to step up there service. A manager should always be on site especially on a busy Saturday night. read more

We had a lousy meal here. Not very clean. Food did not seem authentic--my chicken fajita seemed to be glazed in teriyaki sauce. There is a charge for chips on the table. The margaritas we got were advertised as having top shelf liquor, but tasted as if made from 95% margarita mix and ice cubes. I'm sorry to say it, but I cannot recommend this restaurant. Horribly slow experience today. While having eaten here several other times and always enjoyed coming back, today's experience was painful. It took an hour for us to get our food. Despite several clear opportunities to let us know how backed up they were, the server never said a word. It took a while to be seated. Then, when we were ready to order were told "we don't serve lunch until noon and it is about 11:30 now". Ok, we ordered breakfast. No problem. I have been to this place many times. The last 2 times I have gone has been AWFUL! Both times the restaurant has been busy . Great, I love it.. love small town restaurants busy, we need more of that.. BUT when the only waitress is putzing around and it takes an hour to get food.. I have a problem with that. Laine Lucke (the owner) was chatting at the bar and drinking... yep just chilling out, when 5 or 6 tables we all in need of something. Piles of dirty dishes on tables, empty glasses.. people needing more drinks ect.. the only waitress (long brown hair) was rude and seemed too busy to help us (first round of drinks took 20 minutes and our app took 45 mins from the tie we walked in the door). We got our nacho app and it was made with all broken chips. Not very good, blah but edible. We questioned all the broken ships because it was really hard to eat and she brought out more chips asap and was much more pleasant the rest of our dining experience. The food was ok nothing great, nothing bad enough to send back to the cooks. I can understand an overwhelmed and understaffed restaurant, but nobody there was in a hurry for anything. They were all slow and short with customers. Com'on... the bus boy was more interested in chewing ice and watching TV then pitching in and clearing dishes.. and the owner just hanging out drinking and a rude waitress and mediocre food... Go to Hernandez in Delavan.. They are great and so nice. The Mexican restaurant in Lake Geneva was better, but they sadly closed. PS the margaritas are really cheap on the booze and they even short you in the glass! a 12oz glass filled up 4-5 oz short with a ton of ice.. that sucks! ** forgot to add they took off 4 bucks from the Nahos (they were 8.50), but it was too little too late to change our experience. read more

I only get out to Lake Geneva about every two years, but when I do I make sure to stop by Lucke's Cantina. It has a great laid back atmosphere and the food is good. Make sure you don't miss out on the make your own Bloody mary Bar when you go. read more

I've been going to Lucke's cantina since it opened. But within the past year or so the service and quality has gone down hill. The food prices continually keep going up but the quality goes down. The service is terrible! It seems they are always understaffed. The past two times I've been in there the servers have messed up my order because they dont write them down and don't pay attention. I sent back my taco salad since it wasn't prepared the way I ordered it, and then had to wait 20 minutes for a new one. 20 minutes for a salad? COME ON! The last time I was in there one person in my party was given something completely opposite was what he ordered and then myself and my other guest never received our soups. Once we finally flagged down our waitress, who we could never find, and told her, we had basically finished our meals. She came back with only one and said she had no idea there were suppose to be two! Once I finally got mine, it was really greasy and consisted mainly of celery and carrots. We were only compensated for the one order that was ordered wrong. While I'm not one to ask for handouts, if you want to show me that you're sorry and want me to come back after you completely butchered my dining experience, compensating on one thing isn't enough. My other gripe is the noise level. Sitting next to my guests and I could barely hear what they were saying and had to basically yell to talk because the music level was up so high. There are better Mexican restaurants in the area that I'd suggest than here. read more

We just had a birthday party for my husband's 70th for 45 people here and everything was wonderful!!!!! The staff was great and couldn't of been more helpful to make sure we all had a great time. Everyone's food came out practically at the same time , which was amazing with the little kitchen they have. The food was great , friends and family raved about it .I cannot recommend this place strongly enough, if you are having a party or just going for a meal this is the place to go !!!!!!!!!!! read more

Was waiting for 2 hours plus at the table the waiter was completely incompetent then when I complained that a mandatory 18% gratuity was not appropriate was told not to come back. The chips and guacamole are great! I had fabulous chicken tacos. I requested the shredded chicken with cilantro and onion. They were happy to accommodate my request and with a squirt of lime my tacos were heaven. Service was good. Churros could be improved, I found them to be dry. read more

Lucke's is a favorite spot for locals in the bay. I've eaten there a couple of times and loved the food. It's prepared fresh in an open kitchen behind the bar. I'm four months pregnant and craved mexican food on this Friday evening in April. My husband and I decided to try out Lucke's. I wish I had read reviews before I bothered spending the money. The food was just AWFUL. If you actually enjoy avocados, don't order the guacamole. Seriously, it was like they were rationing avocados---the whole thing was tomatos and onions. I actually liked the chips, even though they were indeed greasy as another reviewer said, however, they needed salt, badly. I ordered two chimichangas, one chicken, one beef. They were both disgusting. The shell part is like a puff pastry! It's not even a tortilla of any kind!!!! The meat in both chimichangas was dry and tasted like they didn't use a single speck of seasoning, not even a pinch of salt. Maybe they're trying to cut costs on that stuff too. The rice was lukewarm and tasted like it came straight out of an orange Uncle Ben's pouch. I actually thought to myself the second we walked into the place that the food was going to be bad, and I wish we'd just turned around and walked right out. What a waste of $32. We walked in and waited to be seated. There were no other customers waiting. It was busy but there were several open tables. After about 5 minutes and no one approached us, we figured it was seat yourself. I approached a waitress and asked if it is seat yourself? She said no we should wait to be seated. So we waited some more. NO ONE acknowledged us. One waitress did walk by us on the way to a table and say hi, but otherwise it was like we were invisible. In the meantime, another party of two came in and were waiting behind us. No one said a word to them either. A third party of two went to the bar and sat down. After about ten minutes of being totally ignored as well, we all started talking, thinking this had to be some kind of joke. Needless to say, after 20 minutes we all left. What a disappointment. We are locals and will never frequent this place again. It's a shame how the basics of customer service were completely disregarded here. read more

Seriously, this place is awesome. I went during the week but have been here when it's been busy on the weekends too. Super friendly waitress who was taking care of us, you could just tell that she ACTUALLY cared about what we wanted and needed. When i asked her advice on a dish i was debating on order she gave me an honest opinion about it and suggested something that was both tasty and delicious that two people could share, fajitas!! yumyum, freakin' delicious. Saved us money and had an awesome dinner. The guac is fantastic! I'm not gonna lie when she took our order she didn't write anything down so i was a little worried things wouldn't come out right as there were 4 of us and food and drinks can be a lot to remember for people. Nonetheless i was IMPRESSED. Not a single order wrong and drinks were perfect! Usually their food takes longer here, especially during the summer but it was a pretty busy week night and the food came out pretty quickly! Recommend!!! read more
