I use to like to go to this establishment on an occasional night out with a group of friends, but no longer after they profiled my military husband and the bouncer came to me after my husband was allowed in and showing his military ID. My husband is very strong and a great active duty military man. The bouncer came to me(his wife) asking me to make sure that a big military guy like him to not start any fights or not drink too much. We left and will never support this establishment again. They do not support the military and is pathetic. read more

I love this bar!!!!! I've been here half a dozen times so far, and every time I come, I have a great time. Located on the corner of park street, it's close to other shops and restaurants so if you get the drunchies, you don't have to look far for food! The bartenders are always really nice and personable, and they don't make you wait forever to order a drink. I LOVEEEE that they have outdoor seating, you can usually find me there. They have tons of long benches outside so there's usually seating. They have games inside, a mini arcade I call it, and even a photo booth! I'm obsessed with pictures, so I was so excited to get some film at the bar! I love coming here, love the vibe, and I will definitely be back!!! read more

On corner for lots of windows and next door to Scolaris for the best burger around for the price. Makes for a great option on Park St - I would usually encourage some hopping... but if you find yourself here - don't bother going anywhere. Your in the right spot. The neighbors here are great: you've got the tattoo place upstairs, the best burger joint next door attached and then you've got an open till late fast food joint you can always count on in an emergency too. At Scolaris you can order food and have it delivered here next door. That is a really convenient option. Pair outstanding food with more than enough beer options and I'm a happy camper. Sort of a locals spot, but don't worry they are friendly. Everybody well behaved and no drama. Some other nearby bars attract a louder and maybe younger crowd who act up with one and a half beers... not here. The windows here and the two exits make for a comfortable feeling. I don't really like dark depressing bars and this isn't one at all. Please don't call this a dive bar - I would find that offensive. read more

We stopped by here for a drink before heading over to the Alameda Comedy Club. And what a bar to pregame at! It is an awesome little dive bar! They have local beer and cider on tap and a full bar to order from. I am a hard cider lover so I was elated to see that they had cider on tap! You know what was the best part?? The price! We ordered a cider draft and vodka soda for under what the price of a vodka soda would cost normally! The great prices alone are enough to bring you back! One of the oddest and most memorable experiences I had when I lived in Oakland. This place is almost certainly 'haunted' in some way, or there's some kind of spell cast over it. Every now and then I think back on a specific night where I walked into Lucky 13 (totally sober) and it felt like stepping through a portal into a pocket dimension or like I was on some sort of fun house amusement park ride on rails where mischievous spirits were possessing various people in the bar and light-heartedly screwing with me as the night progressed. I've had mushroom trips that were less strange. This will probably sound absolutely bonkers to a lot of people who read it, but I would bet that there are other people who have experienced what I'm describing on some level at this bar. Really hard to describe in specifics because experiencing it all in context is important imo. I've also walked in during the day time when it's just feeling like a regular empty bar, I'm chilling and having a beer, and there's no extradimensional vibe like I'm describing above. No idea, but there's something funky and entertaining about this place. read more

I love this bar, let me say that 1st... but the patrons here are awful. I went here on Halloween and the 28th. Both times I have been targeted and been bullied for being white at the pool table. They call me names, kick my stick when I shoot, and call me names. I'm gonna go back one more time to see if it changes. It was not like this 2 months ago. YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2017 - PART 3: 34/100 Alameda Excursion: Stop #3. CASH ONLY! One of the bigger dive bars I've been to. So much to look at from bits of knick-knacks on the walls and sticker galore everywhere. There were plenty of seats available when Hubbers and I walked in on a late Sunday afternoon. Good selection of tap. We each got a glass of brew. They have a pool table and skeeball at the back. We learned they also had a huge patio in the back-back where Hubbers and I decided to hang out. And, WHOA, they have their own tattoo parlor upstairs! What!? We didn't stay too long - just enough time to finish our drinks. But we had a good time albeit the short stretch. I don't know how can people give low star to this place. Server Max was awesome, all I asked for was sparkling wine and I was provided with best wine. I enjoyed my time there with food and drink. Max was really considerate when I asked him to exchange drink. This is nice bar at the corner easily accessible and really nice crowd to go relax your weekend. You know what I love? I love me a great dive bar, and what a great dive bar Lucky 13 turned out to be. You wouldn't think to find such a great dive bar on 'Main Street' Alameda nestled in between kids clothing and toy stored and little cafes, but there you go. I stumbled upon this spot as I was looking to grab some lunch at Scolari's and didn't realize they have super limited outdoor seating only. However, their neighbor Lucky 13 is a great venue to sit, enjoy a drink and Scolari's will bring your food from next door. SCORE. And while I enjoyed Scolari's food (review coming), I really enjoyed Lucky 13 even more. This isn't your typical, dark, small hole-in-the-wall. This corner spot offers up a ton of windows letting that bright sunshine in during those daytime hours, a pool table and pinball machine in the back, a great beer list, a spicy and delicious Bloody Mary and a ton of tables. It's true! Limit those expectations and you'll also be a fan. Don't come looking for table service and fancy cocktails, do come expecting friendly bar keeps, delicious beer, drunken patrons and some stiff drinks. Cash only! read more

Finally, a bar I truly like in this part of the bay. I'm normally in the area when I'm seeing a event nearby and hit up a few bars that where fine but nothing I'd call my favorite. Until now. Luck 13 is a hip dive bar with a punkish feel/decor. Lots of stickers all over the place. The bar itself is very long and big but the bartenders still manage to serve everybody well. I've seen much smaller bars struggle with bar service but not here. The bartenders here are skilled. Also Jack in The Box is located across the street for all your late light drunk munchies. This bar felt right when I came in and is now one of my favorites. read more

We've been coming here for years. The back patio is always full of a wide array of people. Nice to hang out and have a couple of drinks and snack on Scolari's food. Order the food next door and they'll bring it to your table at Lucky 13. Pretty sweet. Not a big fan of all the cigarette and pot smoke but I like that people are free to do what they want. Kind of a den of iniquity. Remember being able to smoke while you ate? There is a trip step from the building to outside. It really needs to have a better transition. I believe 1/2" is the limit on that and then a ramp is required. One of those ambulance chaser attorneys is going to focus in on that step and get rich off of it. read more

Hole in the wall kinda place. Small enough to stand there to place the order, then there's a few seats along the window or choose the two outdoor tables. Luckily (pun intended) we can sit at the corner bar also Lucky 13, same owner I was told, ordered drinks and waited for our food. I liked the dark meat fried chicken with sides of collard greens and mama's potato salad. Also ordered the fried meat balls, loved the wasabi mustard dip. Their scampi garlic fries is tasty. This place rocks! Patrick the bartender (looks like Brian Wilson of the Giants) is totally cool. So is the other bartender with with the tats and piercings (forgot her name). Patrick bought me and my cousins shots (Washington Apples) and he shared them with the bouncers. Then the other bartender bought us a shot. We had to go across the street to Juanitas to sober up. They let dogs in here so the place is a bit eclectic. Good selection of beer including PBR. Food can be had but it comes from two doors down. Burgers, Italian sandwiches, et al. Good for soaking up the beer and hard stuff. Much better vibe compared to Hob Nob. read more

I'm from Alameda and Lucky used to be my favorite hometown bar. That being said this place has turned to shit. I just moved back home and was welcomed with open arms. On St Patty's day I was having a fun night and then when I was waiting for an Uber and a guy came out and sucker punched me for no reason, my guess is he was blacked out but whatever. He fled and the cops came and saw him fleeing and pointed him out. They literally let him go as I was telling them he punched me and arrested me for drunk in public. When I came back to Lucky a few days later I was told I wasn't allowed in anymore when I was a victim of an assault. I asked why and the bouncer just said that's what they decided when I did nothing wrong at all. Fuck Lucky, fuck the Alameda police and FUCK ALAMEDA. The staff here are AMAZING! Is this a dive bar? Yes. Are they gonna look at you funny is you try to order a speciality cocktail that you're used to getting downtown San Francisco? Yep. But that's the whole point, you're here to drink traditional and familiar fantastic drinks! I started coming here with friends a while back and over time many of the bartenders and other employees became like friends! As a woman I always felt safe as they had their eye on everything going on, and I always had a blast anytime I came. Specifically, Peppi and Michelle, really went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. I had to move away and they spent money out of their own pockets to throw my a going away party at the bar. I have never experienced a closeness like this to an establishment where I'm a guest, and it was very appreciated. The Bloody Mary is is BOMB!!! This is the perfect place to start a weekend day in Alameda. There is a partially covered patio in the back if it's a warm day.
