Ginger liqueur is wonderful- sweet with strong flavors and I already knew it would make wonderful mixed drinks. The chocolate liqueur was delicious as was the apple maple wine. All sweet so go with the perspective of how to enrich a wine based cocktail or a champagne cocktail. If you're a dessert wine lover it's definitely for you. We ended up buying ginger and apple maple. It is like you are getting in on the ground floor of a stock that you know will make you a ton of money. The setting here seemed very genteel to me. I think there might have been some doilies. If not, there should have been. They have a tasting. You can do wine, or you can do beer. Or maybe you can do both. We did beer. A few they had to taste were a Ginger Wheat (bought a growler of that), an IPA and a Double IPA. For a pretty new brewery they were all very good.

Our server told us she likes to mix it with muddled blueberries and ginger beer for a refreshing summertime mule, and I agree that does sound delicious. Our third taste was the Bourbon Maple Cream Liquor, which was so delicious, and we finished the tasting with the Maple Cram Liquor, which was smooth, sweet, and went down very easily. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the store - everything was sparkly clean and shining. The layout of the displays was so attractive. We will definitely stop there again on our next trip to VT.

Our hostess was very informative about all of the spirits and very appreciative of each of her customers. She talked a bit fast but that's understandable in the environment, it's busy!! We each did a tasting, the special tasting and the regular, so we got to try almost everything! Our cabinet and fridge got a few new additions with the canned vodka sodas and a single barrel. I highly recommend a stop and a tasting of the Hopped Gin, whether you're a gin drinker or not!! We visited in August 2024.

We came here three different times during that trip because everything was so fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was a completely different experience. The cafe has really gone downhill. My favorite menu item used to be the turkey BLT wrap, and it was amazing. It has since been removed from the menu, and now bacon is a $4 add on, which seems absolutely ridiculous. I ordered the turkey and Cabot cheddar sandwich instead, and it was honestly one of the worst sandwiches I have ever had. The bread was supposed to be sourdough, but it tasted like stale white bread. The sandwich looked like it had been thrown together. The tomatoes still had the stems on them, and the turkey was incredibly dry. I could not even finish half of it. I ended up asking for a refund, and even that took about 20 minutes to sort out. We hoped the cider donuts would make up for it, but they were dry and not hot and fresh like we remembered. That was another big disappointment. I am leaving this review because I genuinely want to see this place succeed again. It used to be a must visit destination, but now it feels like the quality has dropped while the prices have gone up. Please bring back the turkey BLT wrap, make every donut hot and fresh, and bring back the lemon bars. Those were some of the things that made this place so special. I truly hope Cold Hollow Cider Mill can return to the quality that made us come back three times during our first visit to Vermont. On the drive back from Montpelier to Portland, following the pilgrimage made by many a New Englander to witness solar eclipse totality, I had to get off the road, out of traffic, and find a restroom stat. It was divine intervention that made me pull off that specific exit. It seemed dead amongst the nearby businesses in that little enclave, but a hint of human activity pulled me towards Vermont Spirits. After my coy request and use of the restroom (what a relief!), I stood at the bar and asked about their line of products. Barkeep Meg was nice enough to allow me to sample some of their offerings, including the super secret juice! Also really appreciated being able to talk with the chief, Randy, and exchange eclipse experiences. Really friendly folks, and it truly kept my sanity in check.
