Rating: 4.3 Stopped by on the way to a hike because looked interesting and there were lots of people around. It's an apple cider mill located in between stowe and waterbury. It has a cafe on one side where they serve breakfast, sandwich, drinks and store on the other side. Large parkings are available on site. We went into the store first to check it out. It's a good size store and they offer lots of their original goods such as clothes, food, seasonings and of course their apple cider and donuts. They also have some local products from the area as well. They have good selection and we ended up buying some gifts and some maple syrups, seasonings and their sparkling apple ciders. We also got some stuff to eat like apple cider donut, apple cider slushy, hot apple cider, and the dreamee (apple cider donut sandwich with maple creemee). Everything was delicious. I think the highlight is their sparkling apple cider which are perfect gifts to bring back home as they have canned 4 packs ones available. Service was nice looks like they have bunch of younger local girls helping out at the place. The price was reasonable for the apple cider donut and drinks you get to eat at the place but gifts did come out to be quite expensive. Overall it's a great stop for gifts and some apple products if you are around stowe/waterbury area. read more

This place was one of our favorite stops when we visited Vermont two years ago, which makes this review especially disappointing to write. We came here three different times during that trip because everything was so fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was a completely different experience. The cafe has really gone downhill. My favorite menu item used to be the turkey BLT wrap, and it was amazing. It has since been removed from the menu, and now bacon is a $4 add on, which seems absolutely ridiculous. I ordered the turkey and Cabot cheddar sandwich instead, and it was honestly one of the worst sandwiches I have ever had. The bread was supposed to be sourdough, but it tasted like stale white bread. The sandwich looked like it had been thrown together. The tomatoes still had the stems on them, and the turkey was incredibly dry. I could not even finish half of it. I ended up asking for a refund, and even that took about 20 minutes to sort out. We hoped the cider donuts would make up for it, but they were dry and not hot and fresh like we remembered. That was another big disappointment. I am leaving this review because I genuinely want to see this place succeed again. It used to be a must visit destination, but now it feels like the quality has dropped while the prices have gone up. Please bring back the turkey BLT wrap, make every donut hot and fresh, and bring back the lemon bars. Those were some of the things that made this place so special. I truly hope Cold Hollow Cider Mill can return to the quality that made us come back three times during our first visit to Vermont. Definitely a touristy spot but worth seeing. Don't let the crowd deter you. This is a very big store and there's also a cafe. Inside the store it's very large with lots to purchase. They have souvenirs, maple products, and lots of Vermont product products. You can also see them make fresh apple cider. They also make apple cider donuts. We thought the apple cider was delicious both hot and cold. And the doughnut was good. It's a very plain apple cider doughnut. It does not have sugar or cinnamon on it. Nice little place between Waterbury and Stowe. Wanted to try some famous Vermont apple cider. I got the cider slush for $5 and a cider donut for $1. Both were great. The slush stayed icy for longer than I expected. The donut wasn't hot but it was more flavorful than it looked since it looked plain. Service was friendly. We stopped here on our drive home from Stowe and got there right when they opened. Right when they opened there was a line of us pretty quick for the take out so I'm guessing they can get pretty busy. The biscuit breakfast sandwich was to die for I wish I lived closer, we just got to go but they did have seating available to eat in. We went next store to the bakery which is also a gift shop, for a cider donut which was super good too. If I'm ever in the area I'd definitely stop back again. Their online menu did have some items I had my eye on which aren't always in stock so that was a bit of a bummer but probably better for my waistline. We went to Stowe for a little weekend getaway, hoping to get all of the fall activities in. After we went apple picking, we stopped by at cold Hollow cider Mill from a friend's recommendation. This is specifically about the café, not the place as a whole. I don't like having to say it, but I've had a few really bad meals recently. I've been eating there steadily ever since they opened (I work just down the road) and at one time their consistency couldn't be beat. Not anymore. I ordered the BBQ combo plate last week. The chicken and turkey were awfully dry--I literally couldn't tell which meat was which. The corn muffin was so dry, hard, and crumbly it was inedible. A friend recommended this spot to us and we happened to be driving by on our way to and from the von Trapp Brewery, so we stopped in to check it out. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it's a huge store, donut shop, and there is a little cafe. We had fun looking around and probably could have spent an hour just browsing the store. I saw so many interesting things I've never seen at any other gift shop. I loved the apple cider tank where you can dispense your own sample. The cider was super fresh and not overly sweet. I knew I had to try a maple creamee, since it was my third visit to Vermont and I still hadn't gotten one - it's Vermont's famous rich soft serve, flavored with maple syrup. I was expecting it to be super sweet, but honestly it was just right for me. The texture was luxurious and it's definitely rich... and creamy! I'm so glad I finally got to try it. We also got a donut which was just ok (though I'm not a huge donut person). The cafe seemed cute and had alcoholic ciders, but we didn't get anything off their menu. There is a nice covered seating area for enjoying your treats. So glad we visited this place and will be back in the future if we're in the area again. We came here driving through Vermont for my cousins wedding ! We spent wayyyyy too much money here on sauces jellys syrups and ciders but well worth it because we're from Texas! My fiance LOVED the cold apple cider! I also tried the warm but personally enjoyed the cold more myself as well I think bc it wasn't super cold out. We were let down by the cider donuts but I think bc the ones we got were not warm anymore so it kinda just tasted like dry bread, but had they been fresh and warm I'm sure we would have enjoyed them more! Probably one of the best cider mill I have visited. When first arriving it was extremely busy and there were staff directing traffic around the parking lot. We visited the store and Apple cider "factory" and my god it was the best cider ive had in my life. It was just the perfect blend of sweet and I just wanted to keep drinking more. The line at the store was extremely long as well as the coffee and cider bar. It smelled amazing in there and they had a large variety of snacks/pasteries/merch and more. We then visited the cafe/restaurant part on the other half of the lot and wow. We ordered an alcoholic flight and some food. The bbq was amazing but the real winner was the hot cider. Cold Hollow Cider Mill is definitely a must visit if you come to Vermont. My husband, our little girl dog and I came for a visit this past Monday afternoon (yes this place is dog friendly). Although there were people, it wasn't too busy and it was easy to find parking. There are 2 buildings at this cider mill. The main one is their store in which you can purchase freshly made cider donuts (they truly are best when consumed warm), apple cider, apple cider frost and other delectable baked goods like cookies and pies. You can also purchase souvenirs and all kinds of cute knick knacks. You can also learn about the difference between cider and apple juice and how the process of making cider works. But most importantly, you can also try a sample of cider (as much as you want. You get to pour it in a cup and go back for refills). That cider sample we had was so refreshing, we ended up purchasing a half gallon bottle for $6. We also were able to get a free cider donut with Yelp check in (make sure you ask the employee to get you a freshly made one). In the other building across from the main store, is a restaurant that you an purchase hot food. You can also purchase a hard cider tasting at the bar, like my husband did. He paid $11 for 4. I honestly wasn't a fan of any of the hard cider (I do like hard apple cider and have only found one type that I like that is at a farm in California). I do want to mention that the paper that was given with the hard cider, it was written that if you post a photo of yourself with your hard cider on social media and tag this cider mill and use their specific hashtag (check out my photos for the information), you can get a voucher for 6 free cider donuts. Good thing I read the slip of paper. My husband did just that and ended up getting a half dozen of freshly made cider donuts (and in total we got 8 donuts for free, what a great day!). Please note that there are restrooms (which were clean and adequately stocked with the essentials) inside the main store. As for the restaurant, you can either dine inside or outside. We were really hungry when we stopped here, but it was too late to get a meal from the cafe on the other side of the parking lot. So we probably bought more treats than we would have. There are a lot of souvenirs to be had including t shirts, hats and a plethora of the usual kitschy stuff. But the standout for us was edible. We shared an apple cider donut--Sis thought it was great, but to me it was just okay. The hot cider was delicious. I bought four mini pies which we enjoyed the next day, our favorite being pecan pie. I also bought some Vermont-made chocolates--caramels and dark chocolate nonpareils as gifts, which were pronounced delicious by the recipients. Sis bought some small maple syrup bottles and a t-shirt for her gifts. It was a very busy place but the two people running the registers were efficient so the wait to check out was minimal. They also have the best souviners and I always leave with at least 1 thing. The clothing they offer is also different than a lot of the items the other touristy places offer and I think these options are much cuter.
