My dog went to Lucky dog daycare for a few months after we got him, he is a sweet and friendly lab. At first it was okay he would come home happy but I learned they had cameras and at work I would go on and they would have my dog in a "timeout" (which was a crate separated from everyone else) my coworker and I noticed how long they kept him in the crate- after 2 hours I called and inquired as to what was going on and why.. apparently the staff didn't like that I questioned what he did to keep him isolated for that long. After all I am paying good money to send him there. They took him out of isolation with little to no excuse to me as to why they were punishing him in the first place. The next time I picked him up the report cards started, my husband and I would receive report cards stating that he was friendly active happy playful regular (whatever that means) and then there would be a handwritten addendum on the bottom which would read "a little excited, had to isolate" This went on for weeks. I would inquire and the staff would be vague saying oh he was good today but I felt like they didn't like myself or my husband and therefore my dog as well. Needless to say we left after 6 months. My dog is a docile sweet and very lovable lab. I felt like they treated him as high school bullies. I regret ever sending him there at all. I highly do NOT recommend lucky dog daycare. The staff is extremely rude and they give preferential treatment to owners they like rather than all dogs equally. I felt as if I were in high school. read more

My 9 month old puppy absolutely loves Lucky dogs daycare! And so do I. She always comes home super tired, she barely makes it for our evening walk. I was shocked that there were not many other daycares in Peabody I could find. But its OK! Lucky Dogs is reasonably priced, espesh if you buy a 30-pack of visits, comes to about $25 per visit. They also provide the services during daycare. I've gotten her a bath a couple times. She comes out with a pretty bow and smelling/looking/feeling fresh every time. I was nervous in the beginning because she was not eating her lunch every day, but then i realized its just because she didn't want to stop playing with her friends! The webcams are the best part, I watch her all day and see how fun she has with her pals. And they always have some fun backdrop to take cute seasonal pics of the dogs. The only thing stopping me from giving a full 5 stars is the smell. The dogs stay in the same room all day, so there is no outside to go to the bathroom (this is actually somewhat confusing for the dogs too since they are not allowed to do this at home!) I think they need more ventilation or something. My dog comes home everyday smelling like urine. Not sure if it gets better in the summer time, we started going around September. But overall, great place to send your pup to tire them out! read more

I am not one to write reviews, especially poor ones--but I feel that I have to speak up in order to prevent other dogs from going through what my dog went through at this establishment. I haven't taken my dog here since the end of 2020 and I am not saying this lightly when I say that I have PTSD from what we went through here. I am a first time dog owner and did not know any better when I sent my dog to lucky dog. I assumed that if they offered a webcam, the dogs would be treated appropriately and the room would be clean and sanitary, but I was very wrong. I started sending my dog there in 2020 as a puppy. Staff was not in the room consistently; only here and there to clean up poop/pee. Sometimes, poop and pee would be visible on the floor for hours. Without staff in the room supervising, what happens if one of the dogs starts to attack another? First red flag. On multiple occasions, I would go hours without seeing my dog on the camera. One time, I called and asked where she was, and the girl on the phone told me she was just hiding under the camera, which was a blatant lie. Magically, as soon as we hung up, my dog appeared in the room. I also witnessed my dog being shoved into a closet, pushed aggressively off of a staff member when she jumped (she was a puppy and not being aggressive), and sprayed in the face with a water bottle. I called and was told that my dog was on time out and that's how they handled her when she was out of control (she was not out of control. Just an excited puppy looking to play with/get affection from a caretaker). Another red flag: My dog would occasionally knock over the water bowl and run around with it (because she was a puppy), and eventually the employees started taking the water bowl out of the room when my dog arrived. There was a mop bucket in the room for urine clean ups and I witnessed my dog drinking from it on multiple occasions, and on those occasions, she would come home vomiting and having diarrhea. I asked the owner, nick, if he could move the bucket out of the room and he assured me that he had "figured out how to keep her away from it" every time, and without a doubt there she'd be an hour later drinking from it again. He just didn't want to deal with me so he would brush me off. Another red flag: we brought our dog to Theresa at Gone to the dogs training next door (she was fantastic and rents space from lucky dog but is not affiliated with them in any way). Any time the dogs at lucky dog would bark, nick and his other employees would yell "SHUT UP!!!" Which is obviously ineffective and just flat out careless. If you're not dog people then why run a doggy daycare? There are other ways to handle barking dogs. I spent thousands of dollars in emergency vet bills because my dog contracted kennel cough, pneumonia (she almost died- spent 4 days inpatient at animal hospital on oxygen- $6,000 later) and giardia. The final straw for us- we asked that our dog get a bath prior to pick up from daycare one day. When my husband picked her up, he thought she was acting strange. He got home and realized she looked extremely bloated. We panicked and rushed her to the emergency hospital yet AGAIN. After an exam and X-ray, the vet told us that she was absolutely FULL to the brim with dog food. Come to find out, lucky dog put my dog in a crate to "dry off" after her bath (I don't buy this) and she "broke out" and got into a stash of dog food. She nearly ate herself to death. She had uncontrollable diarrhea and stool just leaking out of her all night, and she also ended up with a prolapsed rectum which almost required surgery. Following this final awful experience, my husband went to lucky dog to ask for a refund as he used to pay ahead of time for visits. Nick refused to take accountability for the incident and told my husband that they did not offer refunds and he would need to speak to his husband (co-owner) about it. My husband said that if he wasn't going to refund his $350 then he could pay our thousands of dollars in emergency bills that were all due to the negligence of him and his staff. Needless to say, he gave my husband the $350 back, and we have never ever looked back. The only reason I gave this place multiple chances is because I didn't know any better and thought it was the norm for doggy daycare. My dog also wasn't fixed yet and that really limited our selection for daycares. We now go to another local doggy daycare that I can't say enough about. I would leave my child with our new doggy daycare, that is how safe and comfortable I feel. My dog was never really excited to go to lucky dog, but literally can't control her excitement going to her new place. She is a different dog and we have not had any issues. My point is, please do your research. This place is awful and i hope no one else has to go through what we went through. read more

I was excited to have my 4.5 month old puppy spend a few hours here and I could monitor him on the webcam. This was his first time at doggy daycare. The man at the front was friendly and from what I saw on the webcam he interacted appropriately with the dogs. I expected him to be put in a room with other puppies and was shocked to see when I got home he was put into the large room with adult dogs. He seemed to keep to himself most of the time and I barely saw any of the dogs playing the whole time I watched. Now there's about 20+ dogs in this room and I've only witnessed one person in there occasionally with them to pick up the poop and urine. My dog is a PUPPY, he should have been put with other puppies. I witnessed the woman in there SHOVE my puppy off of her causing him to stumble. I witnessed her do the same to another persons dog right after. Why on earth would you shove someone else's dog !? Let alone someone who is PAYING AND TRUSTING you with their puppy. On top of that, I witnessed her spray my dog right in the face with a spray bottle for literally standing near the gate with the other dogs. I got that on video and I wish I could upload it here. The actions of this employee were unnecessary and cruel. I will never recommend someone bring their puppy here. Clearly the employee needs to be trained on using force-free group management and NOT aversive techniques. No where did I see in the paper work that they would be disciplining my puppy with spray bottles and shoves. Before you take your pup here, think twice if this is how you want your dog treated. read more

This was my first time to Luckys Daycare as it was raved about by the owners mother who is my neighbor. Well that was deff my last time as well. Nick the owner was great. BUT HIS STAFF?! OMG. TERRIBLE. The woman (with the tattoos all over her) working at the desk was so rude, unprofessional and lacked any customer service experience. She tried telling me about my dogs ear infections saying "you should probably take them to a vet" when i explained i work in the medical field and they HAVE been to the vet her whole attitude changed. The dogs in the next room were barking.. AKA PLAYING.. and she opens the door so fast and SCREAMS " SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!" . She says, " I have to use my man voice". I WAS MORTIFIED!!!!!!! Lets just say $100 later for 2 frenchies, not even a bandana for the dogs, NOTHING. They didn't even smell good when i picked them up AND they put the wrong harnesses on my dogs who are clearly different sizes and it was squeezing the shit out of my dogs neck because it was too tight for him which means they had to FORCE it over his head because I couldnt get it off him. My husband and I have boarded our 12 yr old Min Pin at Lucky Dogs several times with no issues, however recently on 8/3/20 when we picked him up after a weekend of daycare/boarding we were driving home and notice a fresh, open wound on his ear. When we reached out to Lucky Dog they said he was alone in the boarding room all weekend and there had been no incidents with other dogs but in their opinion it could be an ear infection from the stress of being boarded....my dog goes for routine 6 month check-ups with Banfield and never in 12 years has he had an ear infection. Sure enough the vet confirmed it was not an ear infection or self-inflected but a wound that was cause from another animal and got infected. After sedation and hundreds of dollars later he is on the mend, and of course no one from Lucky Dogs will return my requests to speak to the owner or a manager. I understand dogs can be dogs but the fact that no one, not even at pick-up, mentioned there was something going on with his ear is unacceptable and I will never trust Lucky Dog with the care and safety of my dog. read more

Pricing is VERY INCONSISTENT and UNPROFESSIONAL. As well as to mention the lack of accountability for their clients time. I dropped off my dog (Samoyed) at 11am, and he was ready at 5PM. I called at 2 PM, and they hadn't even started or were able to give me a time estimate. The first appointment price was $75 (his hair was matted), the second appointment was $85 (regular price, not matted. The third appointment was $110, his hair was NOT MATTED as he was groomed before arriving. I asked the employee as to why, his hair was matted, I then asked where. His unprofessional response was, I DONT KNOW, that's what the groomers told me to charge you. No response was given to where his hair was matted AT ALL. On top to mention, he is NEVER blow dried correctly as the car ride home was full of hairs everywhere, and we had to groom him again with a bag full of hair... Don't expect a professional response from them or their management team. Especially for them to keep up with your dogs appointments or last visit, which has been every three months as they recommended. read more

My 6 month old puppy loves Lucky Dogs! He is always so excited when we arrive and he absolutely adores the staff. I love how they got to know him so quickly and how well they care for him. He also stayed there for 5 days while we were on vacation in November. He got a bath before he came home and was so tired he slept for the next two days. I have been using both the daycare and he grooming services at Lucky Dog for almost 2 years now, and there is no question this is a 5 star establishment. I initially brought my rescue pup Mia to the daycare upon recombination from my vet, that she needed to socialize with more dogs to get over her skittishness and improve her behaviors. The combination of playing at the daycare and using their training services has made an incredible difference! Within a few days she was excited to join her New pals and would return home happy and wonderfully exhausted from all the fun! Two years now, and I am still as delighted from the care the Lucky Dog has given my Mia, as I was from the very beginning, and the grooming services are top notch!! Our dog absolutely loves going to Lucky Dogs weekly. She has been adjusting to learning how to "be a dog" and with new people after being adopted from the streets of Puerto Rico. Everyone at Lucky Dogs has been extremely supportive and loving of my dog Cocoa, and I just have to give a particular shoutout to owner Nick. He is simply amazing! After trying to clip our dogs nails and seeing how agitated she was, he recommended going to the vet. When the vet tech couldn't cut her nails sedated, Nick gave it another go while she was there today, and was willing to take the time to put up with her struggle and fear to help get her nails to a healthy length. I brought my dog to daycare for the first time and she seemed to enjoy it but when I went to pick her up, I found out that they fed my dog lunch without telling me and she has a very sensitive stomach. After a few days go by my dog developed conjunctivitis from being there and then kennel cough, I'm not sure how well they clean the establishment but please be aware when you bring your dog here. read more

My puppy jumped in the groomers hands and off he went she went over any concerns and needs my Lincoln might need and away they went! I felt he was in great hands! PLEASE do not bring your dog here. I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars bringing my dog here every weekend as my girlfriend and I both work extensive weekend hours. One day we discovered on the cameras he was in a room by himself for more than 10 hours. That is unacceptable!!!! What a joke. I could not believe this was going on. This all happened on September 7th (i think), and since the first email from the "Manager" Mandy, she has refused to respond. Management is lazy and lies. Told us that we were pre-warned our dog was facing expulsion???? False. Absolutely never heard such a thing/ Our dog is a 1 year old puppy and part of the "manager's" explanation was that she is 7 months pregnant and it was dangerous that he is jumpy. OHH?? Maybe dont work with dogs when you are 7 months pregnant...... Please do not bring your dogs here. Also, even though they charge high rates, they are begging their customers for donations to extend the day care?? Really classy move. They have wayyyyy too many dogs (100 at times staff has told us) and never enough staff. Stay far far far far away. We have spent thousands of dollars and can't even get a response from the staff about our dog being locked in a room. It has been almost a month and I am still fuming. read more

My dog Kessler has been going here for the last 6 months on the weeks where we are a little busier than usual. I have a VERY high energy Black Lab. He can sometimes be annoying to other dogs and get on their nerves. Instead of turning him away, they have worked with him and his social manners. When I watch from their live video feed, I see them keeping him in line with a water bottle spray. He may come home a little wet, but he is exhausted and a happy boy! I would not recommend Lucky Dogs. I have left my dogs for boarding and daycare. They have forgotten to feed them/don't feed them per the instructions I leave. They have lost my pets vaccination papers and overcharged me numerous times. The staff seem confused all the time and the whole establishment is disorganized. read more

My fiancée and I traveled into the Boston area for work with our puppy and needed to find a place to board him for a night. He had never been to a doggy daycare so we were very nervous and worried about how it would go. Mandy was absolutely nothing short of sweet and helpful. Having the cameras and allowing us to check on him as often as we wanted was really helpful in making us feel at ease. Every time we saw him through the camera he looked like he was having a great time with the other dogs and we could see someone there with them at all times. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. I brought my dog here once and will never bring her back. I picked her up after spending a full day there and she promptly fell asleep in the car, but when I got home she was whimpering and I noticed that she had a deep gash on her leg. Since it was a Friday night I had to take her to the emergency vet, which resulted in three staples and two weeks of wearing the cone of shame, along with me having to scramble to find care since she couldn't go back to any daycare until the wound had healed and the staples were removed. When I called to ask if they were aware of what had happened, they had no clue and mentioned that she had been "playing rough with another dog who has a tendency to bite other dogs' legs". Either that or she could have caught herself on the wall or some furniture. It is extremely disconcerting that no one saw what happened because clearly that means they are understaffed. They have cameras in all the rooms so I am more inclined to believe that they know what happened but don't want to admit it. If she was playing rough with another dog, why didn't they check both dogs afterwards? Why is that other dog even allowed to attend this daycare if he is known to be aggressive and bite other dogs? If it wasn't from playing rough, then why do they have dangerous objects in the rooms that can cause serious injuries? They also kept calling her the wrong name, so they really have no concern for the dogs or their owners. Please do not take your dog here unless you want to end up with a wounded pup and hefty vet bill. read more

I first took my dog here a month ago to get groomed. The receptionist was super friendly and I felt comfortable leaving my dog in their care. Upon picking him up, I met the groomer who wasn't particularly professional. She complained about how he pooped. I understand that it was an inconvenience but he is a dog and dogs will poop. Either way, I thought that maybe it was just a bad day so I didn't quite give up yet. I returned today to get my dog groomed. Again, drop off was nice and the receptionist (different person) was very friendly. When I went to pick him up, the groomer came out and said to me, verbatim "he is very bad, he needs training, he is dangerous". Firstly, I do not have an issue with her suggesting training or talking about safety--I'm sure that's an important part of her job and I respect that. What I have an issue with was her unprofessional demeanor in communicating that with me. After paying $65, I would appreciate some respect as a paying customer. I highly recommend that management considers training their employees in how to effectively and professionally communicate with customers. I really wanted to like this place but I will not be returning and I do not recommend this location to anyone. Also, just for reference, no groomer, daycare, or other dog sitter has ever had anything negative to say in regards to my dog's training. read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE AN OUNCE OF FEELING FOR YOUR PET!!!! I have an 11 year old golden lab golden retriever mix. I have taken her to get groomed 4x a year since we got her at 6 weeks old. 2 of those 4 times a year we have her hair cut down to look like a lab to keep her cool. This has never been a problem On recommendation from a friend I called up Lucky Dogs. One of the questions i always ask first is if they cage the dogs while grooming because Lily has severe anxiety. They told me yes but when i explained they assured me they would not cage her. The person on the phone was very nice and understanding so i followed through and made the appointment. When i arrived to drop Lily off the groomer was not in yet. So i explained to the receptionist exactly what i wanted. I wanted her trimmed down to look like a lab and i even sent her a picture from the last time she was groomed and asked if there was any question what so ever to call me. I also reiterated the anxiety issue and they said not a problem. When i went there to pick her up, i was SHOCKED. My dog was bald. Not only was she bald she was bleeding and had medicine all over her. I was told the groomer had to cut her shorter because her hair was so thick and that "golden retrievers" arent meant to have hair cuts. Never in 11 years has this been a problem with any other groomer. I was also told that "if i didnt want to medicate my dog then they recommend i find a mobile groomer for her since she is so anxious". I paid them and i left. When i got home, Lily who is usually so full of life an excited when she gets "washed and looks beautiful", was very exhausted and didnt even want to be pet. I started to inspect her and see what all the blood and medicine was about. Im not even sure the groomer pet or ran her hands through lily's fur. Every single skin tab or mole she had was cut off and there was blood and medicine. Her legs have longer fur on some parts and bald streaks on others. Her tail was left fluffy like she's a squirel or somethng. The hair in her ears looks as though it was plucked out and she was bleeding and inflamed there as well. Her belly was raw and had red patches all over. With all of this i expected that she would at least smell good. Well i was wrong she still smells like a dirty dog. Im not even sure if they washed her. Needless to say i am very unhappy ( to put it mildly) and will never return. The word in this review can not even touch on the anger, disappoinment and sorrow for my dog that i feel. I DO NOT RECCOMEND ANY ONE TAKE THEIR DOG HERE! read more

The grooming at Lucky Dog is terrible. I have a goldendoodle and a golden retriever. About 3 months ago I took both of my dogs to be groomed and they did a very nice job. Unforunately, the next time I groomed just my goldendoodle I had to come back twice because they never trimmed his face and his ears were lopsided and his tale was ratty looking. They were apologetic and took care of the problem. I dedicde to give them another chance. A huge mistake. We have our golden retriever shaved for the summer. Apparently, the groomer doesn't know how to properly shave a golden. I picked her up and they had completely removed her beautiful tale feathers and shaved her entire head. I don't understand how someone who is supposed to be schooled in grooming can be so incompetent. My advise, find someone who is reputable. read more

Lucky Dogs Daycare is an outstanding resource for dog parents! When we moved here about 6 months ago, my husband and I spent weekends driving around the North Shore looking for a cage-free dog daycare with monitored boarding (monitored by people, not cameras only), as this is what our dog had grown accustomed to in our previous city. Most of the places we looked into were not up to snuff: dirty, unsafe, ridiculous hours for people who actually work (drop your dog at 10 and pick up by 3 - crazy!) or just too frilly to accommodate actual rough and tumble dogs like our Plott Hound mix, who is built like a brick house. Lucky Dogs Daycare is spotless, with plenty of room and incredible hours to accommodate nearly any schedule. Since our dog is a rescue, she sometimes has trouble integrating with new packs - Lucky Dogs Daycare completely understood this and gave us a free trial day to make sure she did alright. The employees were attentive and engaged with our dog, which helped make her feel more comfortable. After her first day, she couldn't wait to go back for her next visit. We have even left her overnight on several occasions during weekends we've been out of town and have come home to find her intact and happy - and also exhausted from hours of great play and interaction! To top it all off, it is satisfying to see how the employees have connected with her over these last months and love her nearly as much, if not as much, as we do. Lucky Dogs Daycare is worth EVERY penny but the peace of mind we have while she is in their care is worth even more! read more

This place is absolutely incredible. They are the real deal when it comes to loving pets unconditionally. I am so happy I found this gem and plan on taking my dogs here when needed. They helped me save a dog's life this week when someone close to me needed help. She had nowhere else to turn, not one shelter or veterinary provider would help and the MSPCA's only offering was euthanizing the dog. I literally have no words to express the gratitude!
