Honestly my favorite bar on Fry Street. The shots are amazing & at a good price! One of my favorite places to go without friends. Try the Mean Green Shot!

We had a group of 7-8 people for a night on Fry Street, and Lucky Lou's was our second stop. It started off really well with good drinks and jumbo Jenga! When we finally finished our game and cheered over it, one of our friends showed up. We met her at the door and hugged her. However, the chick at the door checking IDs, told us that the manager was watching us and if we didn't chill out, they would kick us out. We weren't being very loud and we weren't disrupting anybody, even though it's a bar. Other than the rude accusation, it was a pretty fun experience.

Lucky Lou's is always the second bar I visit when I go out to Fry St on the weekends. They have a huge inexpensive shot selection, my personal favorite is the caprisun shot. It actually taste just like caprisun, but for adults. I frequent on the weekends so wait is rather long and staff isn't the most friendly or attentive, but given how chaotic the bar is I truly don't blame them. I really wish they would do something about expanding their restrooms. There never fails to be a long line for the women's restroom.

Here's a picture of their weekly specials that I took a while back, so some things might have changed by now.

Great deals! Pretty average Fry street bar, but definitely worth a visit for bar hoppers.

So we did it... and man... totally love the vibe here! We had no idea what to expect, but good food, great music, sports on the tele, and great drinks... what more could you ask? We ordered some Fried Pickles, which is ALWAYS a hit, especially with that Jalapeño Ranch dipping sauce... Hot Damn that was good! We also ordered the Potato Skins that were filled with mashed potato (like a twice baked potato) and queso cheese. That too, was a perfect start to our experience. My wife and I shared The Flo aka a Mushroom Swiss Patty Melt, with some house fries. I also had dessert, which was an American Pie Old Fashioned. All of it... all so good. My son ordered The Jaky, which was a pork schnitzel topped with gravy. He also had some Mac n Cheese to go with it. He seemed pretty impressed by it. Overall, great service and an excellent experience. We will definitely be back again! As always, Enjoy & Happy Eating!

My wife's favorite ice cream store is next door to this place and she asked me to pick up a couple of shakes for her and her friend, so I grabbed a burger while I waited for their shakes. Choosing one thing was tough. On their menu we're Pizzas, Burgers, Sandwiches, Nachos, Loaded Fries, Salads, and more. But I figured, that old adage of "When in Rome", so I ordered the Loophole Burger. It was a "Wowza"!! The Fries were really good too. I am not even a Fries guy, but I ate them all! Ezekiel, the server, was fantastic. He even gave me suggestion for my next visit, which I am going to try. The ambiance here is really neat. It is in an old brick building and is kind of split level inside. Think antique brick & really old hard wood stairs and you will begin to understand the historic presence of this place. I can't wait to come back!

The burger was inedible. It was overcooked and so was the bun. Hubby got the triple stacked BLT. The only thing triple stacked about it is the bread! It was at least edible. The service was attentive but a bit lacking urgency. We will not be adding this to our rotation.

The building has that old-school charm that makes it feel like it's been part of the neighborhood for ages. They've got daily specials all week long even on the weekends and the drink prices were super reasonable. Definitely a good spot for day drinking and relaxing with friends. As for the service, well it was slow. Not because the staff wasn't working hard, because they were, but they were clearly understaffed and maybe a little inexperienced. It wasn't wall-to-wall packed, but still things did take a while. Same with the food, everyone around us had ordered, and we could tell the kitchen was struggling. We later heard there was just one cook handling everything ,which explains the long wait. But the food is worth it. We had the beer cheese soup, grilled cheese, and some tots. Throw the tots in the soup, trust me on this one ! Simple but very delicious. The live music was also different, lots of variety and different bands of musicians rotating through with all kinds of styles. Overall, we really liked this bar, it was very laid-back, affordable with lots of personality. If im in. the area again I'll definitely be back!

After graduating, I moved back to Dallas and reconnected with some high school friends who all attended UNT and from them, I had always heard them rave about Fry Street but never experienced it until Halloween and it was pretty chill. We started off the night at Cool Beans Bar & Grill. Within this particular bar, I loved that the staff and everyone were dressed up in costumes for Halloween, which added to the festive atmosphere. The bar offers both indoor and outdoor seating, giving it a relaxed and versatile vibe. My friends ordered food and drinks, which were really affordable. The food itself seemed like no-frills, classic bar bites-exactly what you need for a fun college night out. Especially to start the night off or something to get to sober up. The drinks were solid, and we enjoyed hanging out before making our way down the strip. Fry Street is definitely different from what I'm used to, but I think it's such a cool, close-knit spot. Even though it's small from what I'm used to, Fry Street and its bars, including Cool Beans, will help you get to where you want to be for a fun night out. This bar definitely suits well within the Denton culture and it's a pretty decent bar, perfect for college students.
