Service: 10/10 Prices: 8/10 Atmosphere: 10/10 Pet friendly patio in the back. Stopped in here today to get a drink, along with my girlfriend and our dog. They have a big patio in the back with an open bar and stage for performers. We came during the middle of the day, so they weren't very busy. The inside was very big and open. The lights were very dim which I liked. I'm not sure how the night atmosphere is, but it seems like a chill place to hangout and drink. The service was great! Our dog got sick and threw up outside on the patio. So they brought us a roll of paper towels and a huge dish holder of water for our dog cuz he was very hot Feel bad for him throwing up everywhere, but they were helpful and kind! Great place, and will come back again. But not with our dog next time

Awesome music venue near old town Denton. Divey, cheap drinks and a whole bunch of people just trying to have fun. There's usually a cover but don't deter you from coming in. Cover charge will not cost you an arm leg, I promise. Will regularly check out their band rotation so I could come visit more.

I really appreciate Dan's and have seen both Andrew WK and the Decemberists here. So clearly, some really good local and national artists choose to play Dan's, thank god. I think Dan's is second only to Rubber Gloves in the caliber of bands that play Denton, and it's a very close second. The venue is almost hidden and doesnt have any signage out (you'll miss it if you blink) but look for the marquee sign and teal exterior walls. Inside you'll find a friendly staff, cheap beer, nice stage and good soundsystem. And a nice big patio for those humid summer nights. The crowd is a very chill mix of people and everyone is made to feel welcome.

Dan's is a cool, smaller, dive bar/venue without the dirty dive feel. We came to watch a friend's show and had a blast. Granted, I'm pretty sure us and our friends accounted for a majority of the people there, but it was also a Tuesday night so can't be too mad. We were charged a $5 cover each, but that went to the band and our friend so I also didn't feel bad about paying that one bit. Pros - I'm a sucker for the intimate dive joints. This place has it all from the dark bathrooms to the assorted craft beers on tap. There's a great patio outdoors where you can smoke, bring the pup, or take a break from the band inside and talk with your people. - The prices were right last night. From the cover to beer. Draft beer list was posted with ABV's and prices. Although I didn't see prices for the other beers such as some of the canned, our tab still came in at under $15 for two beers each! (It also looked like they sold Parliaments and American Spirits, if needed, although I'm sure that's a more premium fare.) - The vibe. Maybe it was just the evening or it could have been Dan's, but there was just a little magic in the air with the music and cool weather out on the patio. Easy service, easy listening. Good memories, for sure. - Easy street parking. I could see it potentially being difficult on the weekends. Downfalls - It's a biggie. No food! Bah. But then again, there's a Fuzzy's next door so wasn't really that mad. It's also Denton so there's tons of places to get your cravings satisfied within minutes. No big deal. - This was a longer trek for us. If you're checking out a show and coming from DFW, make sure someone will be sober and/or awake. Took us about 45 minutes each way so if you can handle that, you'll be just fine. I'd definitely go see a show here again.

Does this place have a good size dance floor?

They have plenty of floor space in front of the stage but it's usually used for tables and chairs. Guess if the band is danceable...

And the house made dipping sauce - mmmmm good! Our waiter was great! I met a friend and we were catching up on time instead of looking at the menu, and he was very patient with us. This is why my rating is only based on the food quality. Brisket and Queso $10 Smoked brisket, Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce, cilantro. A little too high for an appetizer, but the queso and brisket were good. I wasn't a fan of the sauce, the sweetness was a clash for me. The chips were also way too salty. The house salad $14 was an XL salad for sure! Everything was so good and fresh. They kindly brought me extra cheese and grilled jalapeños. The ranch was just right too! Downside: my patty was over-seasoned and overcooked. My partner purchased their most basic burger, the Waylon $12, the fries are sold separately. This burger was small, and once again, the patty itself was a disappointment. Texas sun cocktail was refreshing but just a simple pineapple and vodka mix.

I drove a nice 4 hours from Houston to see my all time favs (Last Dinosaurs!) perform at this place and this venue did not disappoint. Since I went solo, I arrived early and joined the queue outside. As they were letting us in, they checked us in through ID and crossed our name off their list of ticket purchases versus the standard ticket scan. Maybe their system was down? Or maybe it was their way of double checking ages? Idrk but entry was pretty smooth so no issues there. I went inside to get a drink from the bar and it looks like theres a smaller indoor venue too so I'm sure that's all a good time too. Bathrooms were typical bar bathrooms; nothing fancy, just a place to do your business, check your fit, and go. There were free pads/tampons and even drug tests for your drinks in there too so I thought that was cool. Show was great, I always recommend getting concert earplugs to avoid the ear ringing, but maybe for this place to avoid the jump-scare that is a train passing by in the middle of a set, too! Hahaha Leaving the venue wasn't an issue. Since I got there early, I was able to park in the lot right next to it. I would check out their website for recommendations to park, though, since their lot could fill up quickly. I think theres a bunch of free street parking a block away, so if you don't mind walking that should be available too. Just keep an eye out for signage about towing, I know the empty lot in the construction site just in front of the venue may be tempting, but I was warned that their a fein for towing so watch out! Overall, I had a great time! Should any other of my favs stop by, I might be tempted to make the drive again

There was a Renders food truck (unrelated to the venue) the night I went and I got a burger which was fine not great. Plenty of picnic table seating which was convenient. The burger was piping hot but the seasoning could have been better. Nice respectful crowd at the show I went to and I would definitely go back even though Denton is a bit of a haul for me. Oh the trains are CRAZY loud! Definitely can affect the show but no biggie!

After graduating, I moved back to Dallas and reconnected with some high school friends who all attended UNT and from them, I had always heard them rave about Fry Street but never experienced it until Halloween and it was pretty chill. We started off the night at Cool Beans Bar & Grill. Within this particular bar, I loved that the staff and everyone were dressed up in costumes for Halloween, which added to the festive atmosphere. The bar offers both indoor and outdoor seating, giving it a relaxed and versatile vibe. My friends ordered food and drinks, which were really affordable. The food itself seemed like no-frills, classic bar bites-exactly what you need for a fun college night out. Especially to start the night off or something to get to sober up. The drinks were solid, and we enjoyed hanging out before making our way down the strip. Fry Street is definitely different from what I'm used to, but I think it's such a cool, close-knit spot. Even though it's small from what I'm used to, Fry Street and its bars, including Cool Beans, will help you get to where you want to be for a fun night out. This bar definitely suits well within the Denton culture and it's a pretty decent bar, perfect for college students.

You never know what kind of night it will be here as the live entertainment on the patio varies daily. They've got Open Mic night on Mondays, you might get comedy or awesome local musicians on the stage. As for the weekend sometimes there'll be solo country acts, sometimes more alternative acts, sometimes full bands, and they've got a pretty good set of DJ's that play Weds & Thurs weekly! Definitely a party vibe always. Inside there are 4 pool tables of which are the best you'll find on Fry. On Sundays and Tuesdays they have 8-Ball and 9-Ball tournaments wherein you can come try your luck against some steep billiards competition. The inside and patio sort of keep separate vibes going where the inside is dominated by the jukebox and the outside is up to the performer. The patio bar is nicely done compared to how it was only a year ago since they remodeled it in March. They have a 100 shot bar that has a bit of everything on it, it's fun to experiment but dangerous to stand at for too much experimentation! Be warned haha! All in all this my go to bar, happy hour has $6 pitchers of Miller Lite, not my favorite but for the price? And the nightly drink specials are usually pretty awesome. Wednesdays get wild as double wells are $1 but it's always a good time! There's a great following here and if you take the time to get to know the staff they're all great guys in their own right, treat them well and they will reciprocate accordingly! The only bad thing I'd say about the place is it can get a bit smokey at times but it's not usually intolerable, no better or worse than Cool Beans or Riprocks.
