I am extremely disappointed in this business and feel as though we were ultimately scammed…read more My sister in law and I booked back in October with Blake for a guided fishing tour for 12/1. We booked it as a surprise Xmas gift for my dad, brother, husband, and oldest son. We paid a total of $600 and paid up front in good faith even though a deposit or balance wasn't due until 12/1. Fast forward to 11/29 and Blake reaches out to my sister in law to explain that the fish "aren't really biting" and it probably will just be a glorified boat outing. The convo was very much indicating that he was pushing us to reconsider. She advised him that she of course didn't want the guys to not have a good time but since 3 people had coordinated their work schedules around this tour, she had to check with them about cancelling. This is the first time we were told he would refund us. She then called back after speaking with everyone and said we would go ahead and cancel and this is the second time he advised he would issue a refund. She then received a text message stating he would be keeping 50% of the money we paid up front since we were cancelling even though he heavily influenced that decision with his last minute phone call going over all the ways it wasn't going to be fun. She attempted to reply stating that was never stated and is unreasonable. No response from Blake at all other than sending only $300 back via Venmo 24 hours later. I have looked over his website and there is no cancellation policy to be found, nothing stating he would be keeping 50% of the payment we weren't even required to pay in advance for. Upon looking at other local fishing charters in the DFW area, this isn't even industry standard. At most of them, a $100 deposit is non refundable and I could understand that being reasonable. I feel as though he saw a situation where 2 women knew nothing about fishing and took an opportunity to take advantage. I would not recommend this company based on their morals alone.
