August 2025 | Santa Monica | Anthropologie is one of my favorite stores on 3rd Street Promenade! The store is filled with style and personality all throughout & on each level! I've been shopping at this location for years! Inside: There is always so much to see on all three levels! Anthropologie has beautiful dresses/clothes, gorgeous handbags, fun & unique accessories/jewelry, fabulous & often fun dinnerware, candles, perfume... and more! There is style all throughout the store, which always catches my eye! I've collected numerous dresses, handbags dinnerware & coffee mugs that I absolutely love! Personality Plus: The Gentleman at the entrance always greets me with a smile, always so friendly and radiating great vibes, love it! Customer service is wonderful here, helpful and friendly! Gifts: Anthropologie is also a great place to find a gift for the person who loves to entertain, host parties, and even to find a fun birthday gift! I've seen amazing and unique greeting cards, coffee table books, and incredible dinnerware, glasses & coffee mugs! A friend also gave me a gift card to the store, as she loves the store as well! Spotted: While at a dinner party the other day, my neighbor/friend had numerous beautiful animal-themed plates, which were so cute from Anthropologie! I recognized them right away! She has a huge collection! We both love the store! Note: Upstairs, in the back of the store is a huge sales section where you may find items in all categories! Imagine that! Customer Service: Incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to help great vibes and the dressing room as well! Lighting is great in the dressing room, the rooms are a great size & mirrors are huge inside and out! Love it! Overall: Yes, I love this location and I usually visit every single time that I go shopping on Third Street Promenade, when I have time! Be sure to leave plenty of time to look through the store, because there is so much to see and so many cute items! I love this place! read more

I've been a regular Anthropologie shopper for 20+ years buying everything from clothes to bedding, candles, and dinnerware. I have mixed feelings about this location because customer service is always a hit or miss with some sales associates being clueless about completing online/in-store pickup transactions and others having horrible customer service skills. The sales associates are not "customer" oriented. Instead they focus heavily on policy and procedures and lack basic problem-solving abilities, which is very frustrating. Add to it, they have a security guard at the entrance who stares and makes the shopping experience uncomfortable. However, the shop itself is beautiful, with large wooden doors you walk through and a winding staircase. Still, I prefer the Century City location and only come here for in-store pickups when Century City is not an option. read more

Where's the customer service?? My mom and I visited this location earlier this evening and we were not greeted once by the several employees there. The security guard was even friendlier to us! I used to work at an Anthropologie store and we were trained to be warm, friendly, attentive, and helpful to all customers. A few of the employees passed by us from time to time and walked very quickly, staring straight ahead and ignoring us. My mom is in a wheelchair and it would have been greatly appreciated if someone had let us know that there is an elevator if she wanted to browse the second floor, but I had to find the elevator on my own. The cashier did smile at us toward the end of our shopping experience, but did not say one word. One of the employees accidentally looked me in the eye and quickly averted her gaze lol! Such a weird, cold vibe here. I almost wished I could clock in and show these associates how customer service is done. Sheesh! We are definitely not in a rush to go back to this location! read more

It's no wonder this place has low Reviews. I had purchased a dress and the sales associate forgot to remove the security tag. After a month of forgetting to bring it in, the manager who helped me rudely asked to see a proof of purchase implying I had stolen this shitty $25 dress. After I showed the receipt she grabbed the dress, removed the tag, slammed it back on the counter and just stormed away in to the back. Hopefully she will find customer service training beneficial in the future bc this doesn't seem like the right fit. read more

Love walking through this store when I'm on the Promenade. Parking is NOT easy. Plan on paying steeply and/if having to walk from far away since it is smack dab in the middle of the Promenade. But it's clean, and there a second floor with more goodies than the first. Cashier was very kind. Not the biggest Anthro but still a good shopping experience. Go in at Christmas time just to peruse all the fun decor and shiny new year's clothing! read more

I had a much better experience at this location compared to the Century City one. I absolutely love their clothing, jewelry and home goods options + the customer service was top tier! Location is massive right off of 3rd St Promenade in Santa Monica. Only downfall is parking when it's super busy downtown (often on weekend/in the summer), but there is tons of paid parking garages nearby. They do also have a massive staircase to get up to the second floor but I'm not sure if they have an accessible option to get upstairs - that would be my concern for any wheelchair users, anyone using a cane or is unable to make that trek. read more

One of my favorites Anthropologie locations. I have been shopping at this store for years, because I love the space, the nice, rustic inspired decor, I love to browse the merchandise. I am glad the store on the Promenade is still holding up well. I love their home decor area, I got a nice frame here. I wish their prices are lower, but they have decent sales sometimes. Great product selection, nice customer service, I enjoyed my visit here, need to go back sooner! read more

One of the best Anthropologie with a huge organized sale section on the second floor. Easily accessible on the streets of Santa Monica. Parking is free in the adjacent structure, 90 min after it'll start charging at $4 and up. 3 hrs is about $8. Lots of other stores nearby, urban outfitter is also just down the same block. Found myself a $10 suit dress. The only one with a good price. Wish all the other prices drop because it's not really moving, come on Anthro, you can give your fans a better deal! Great shop commensurate of the standards that Anthropologie seems to have in their stores but sadly in a not so great location anymore(Santa Monica 3rd St Promenade that has gone somewhat downhill). I was a great customer at Anthropologie. WAS! I ordered several items online. One item was a blouse for a party. I received all items except the blouse but said it would be coming to my house. After speaking with customer service I was told the warehouse has made a mistake and the blouse was never going to be delivered. But I was charged for it! I waited almost 10 minutes to speak with a supervisor. I was then told that when my order was filled they had the shirt but now they no longer have my size. Going back to Quince. Absolutely love Anthropologie, a must stop for me wherever I go. I was at the Promenade on Saturday and walked in to check out their spring collection of their kitchen stuff. .... LOVE at first sight. ............:. Got a cute bowl and mugs with lemons on them. So many beautiful items to chose from. I had to force myself to leave the store without breaking my wallet. The products they carry are very unique and you can't find it anywhere else. I love the clothing and accessories section as much as the home section. So many cute tops to chose from. Love the handbags specially when they are on sale. The staff at this store were friendly and helpful. The store was clean and organized. Keep up the great work and please stay in business. Anthropologie stores always have beautiful decor especially during the holidays and the store smells amazing too with all the candles. Since it's the holiday shoppung season, it was quite crowded and I struggled to find sizes in many items. I also noticed that the clothing quality doesn't seem as high as it used to be for the tops and dresses, which is a bummer given the prices. They do still have nice items at the store though. read more

Julia and Kathy are absolute angels!! Being bossed around by this lady Susan upstairs who claimed she "couldn't do the stairs" so had them running all around for her. I don't shop at Anthropologie as much as I used to. I recently stopped by to buy a birthday present. Since there was a rare storewide 25% off sale, I also bought candles for myself. It looked like other customers were taking advantage of the sale too. I didn't have time to go upstairs and look through everything this time around. I've been to this location a few times, and the staff is consistently nice and attentive. Since it's located in Third Street Promenade, it is one of the busier locations. read more

Huge store in the heart of Santa Monica. My mind cannot comprehend how much this place must pay for rent. Prime location and it is two stories! Even though you are in Santa Monica, this store understands that sales are the bomb (or at least I think so). Go up to the second floor to the way back and you'll find a giant sale section. They have sales on more than just clothes, they also discount cups/mugs/books/etc. My sister has bought many a things from this sales section. The rest of the store is super cute. I looked at the decoration and immediately thought of the after of a fixer upper show (which is the epitome of chic in my mind). If you're in the area, this is a clothing store that you should hit up. read more

This store is 2 stories. Sign up for their shopper program and you get a discount on your birthday. Anthropologie is one of my favorite store every time I want to buy clothes or gifts. I normally go to the one at El Segundo but they don't carry bedding sets. My lady bug is redecorate her bedroom so we decided to come here and look for bedding sets. She picked the one she liked but they didn't have the size for her bed. The saleswoman offered to order it online and free shipping. She told us that it was going to take about 5 business day to have it delivered. It was a Sunday the day we came here and we have it delivered on Tuesday. It took only 2 days. Great customer service!!! read more

OMG! This Anthropologie store is so cool! I love it! From outside, you'd think this is a small store since most 3rd Street versions of stores are a little smaller than normal, but when you walk inside, it's pretty huge! And then there's a 2nd Floor! SAs are fairly helpful. This visit, I was looking for another candle and scouring every nook and cranny of the 1st Floor, I advanced upstairs and found more candles, but distinctly the Capri Blue Volcano in Mercury Glass caught my attention. I am enamored by the candle's vintage appearance and aromatics! I have yet to light the candle and it permeates my entire office...even with the lid on! Anywho, I know this review is not supposed to be about the product, but rather the business. Just know that you can always find outstanding clothing, home furnishings, books, and various knickknacks at all Anthropolgie locations, but I think I have a new fav! read more

Found a charming vintage type self timer magnet in an aqua green hue here today. I'm buzzed with the sound. Also scored a nifty Parisian Farmer's Market cart. Way overpriced -1 star, though I rationalize it's made in France & I'll use it every weekend. It has an adorable fish market painting on it, although a bit odd, for me being a vegetarian. In bold capital letters it says, "POISSONNERIE", which is why I believe some people just stare @ me, a little oddly. Apparently it means "fish market" in French! Maybe they wonder if my intent is to get poisoned? If they had one with veggies painted on it, I would have bought that one instead. Alas, it appeared to be one of a kind. Will have to check out the sales rack upstairs & be very careful walking down the steps. The cashier advised me to take home a yellow card (which has a long string of digits) from on top the check out counter & fill out my email address. To me, Anthropologie is what happens when the shoppers from Urban Outfitters graduate to a better paycheck and end up buying stuff from here. When Anthropologie first opened their products were beautiful but looking around I find their items ridiculously overpriced. I'm not going to buy a cutesy drawer knob for 10 bucks and I'm not going to buy their 10 - 18 dollar cups (that for all I know are laden with lead). If you have that kind of budget then by all means go for it, but for me, I was underwhelmed with what they had. The good thing here though is that when they do go on sale, some of their clothes and outfits are practically priced down to normal retail prices. So check it out during a sale read more

The biggest anthropologie i've been to thus far (and that's ranging from Northern California to Southern California) I love this place! It includes more housewares and knickknacks than any other one i've been to. The one in SF would rival this one, but who's counting sq ft. I would high recommend this one because of it's vast collection of EVERYTHING Anthropologie. The store fits the area really well. They also have a great sales section on the second floor. This review is for service and household items only. They have plenty of household items and it's very well organized. Everything is spread around all over the store but you can tell each section has it's own category. For example, trinket dishes are placed altogether and so are the kitchen items. The variety is like any other Anthropologie store but I was very happy with this one because I found a pot I saw online here. The girl I asked to help find an item for me was helpful but the cashier I got wasn't so much. I know it's not in their job description to hold conversation but I was just asking questions about the store and she kept giving me curt replies. I found it a little rude as well because as she was ringing me up, she kept gossiping to her coworkers instead of paying attention to me, the customer. read more

It's a massive store and provides excellent fashion and layout inspiration for guests. Their sale section is quite robust and there are often 40% off sales. They sometimes even have cider, coffee or cupcakes out for shoppers which is a lovely experience touch. The staff is always friendly, considerate and well-appointed. What happened to Anthropologie? It used to be such a beautiful store with clothing and knick knacks from all over the place, usually at pretty reasonable prices. I have some of my favorite pieces from here -- things that look antique and things you could never find anywhere else. But I just recently visited the Santa Monics store for the first time in a long time, and I was surprised at how low the quality has gone and how the prices seem to have tripled since last I visited. The pieces that once were one-of-a-kind, vintage-inspired wear are now overpriced versions of what I could find at like... Chico's or something. Not pretty (unless you like crochet and lace, which is a little too girly even for me), not unique (reminded me too much of the Laura Ashley junk my mom used to force me to wear), not affordable. But instead, froufy and somehow hipster-ish at the same time . Kinda weird... What I do still absolutely LOVE are the knick knacks. I loved this store for all the cute little weird finds they had lying around -- 50s style over timers in canary yellow, gold-finished teacups, etc, etc. All expensive, but if I could have bought it all, I probably would have. All in all, not a total loss of time but I don't think I'll waste my time shopping for clothes here again. read more

I love the products that Anthropologie sells, and I used to love this store... until I got hurt here and the experienced the worst of Anthropologie's customer service. You know those cement stairs that go from the first level to the second? The ones without safety treads or a hand rail in the center? Well, I am casually walking down those stairs one uneventful day and there must have been something slippery on them, because I went flying and fell down. All the way down to the landing. My first thought was to be really embarassed. It was a bad fall. Stuff from my purse and my shopping bags flew all over the place. And then I realized I was really hurt. As in bleeding, can't move my knee or my ankle hurt. A customer saw me fall and ran to help and then went and got the manager. The manager came over and sort of stared at me blankly. Didn't even offer to help me up. She asked if I was okay and I said I wasn't sure. She said she'd take an incident report. I wasn't actually thinking about a report at that moment, I was wondering more if I needed immediate medical attention, but okay. She stood around for a while and watched while I tried to collect myself and my belongings, but didn't display any real empathy or concern. I did end up having to go to the hospital, where I was x-rayed. Fortunately, nothing was broken, but I was very swollen, in a lot of pain and had difficulty walking for about two weeks. I'm not a litigious person and it never really occured to me to sue Anthropologie. However, since the fall did ruin a very nice pair of pants (purchased at Anthropologie) I thought they might replace them. No such luck. No one at Anthropologie would talk to me- either at the Santa Monica store or at their headquarters. They honestly could not have been more rude or dismissive. Moral of the story-- the stairs at the Santa Monica store are dangerous. Use caution when you walk on them. If you are hurt while in this store, no one will give a sh*t. It certainly wasn't something that I expected to have happen to me, but it did-- and it sucks when something bad happens and the company responsible shows total indifference. read more

Guys, if your lady asks you to come here, politely decline. ;-) This store is designed to keep women occupied for hours, and hours, and hours. Well not that long, but I find myself sitting in the holding facility (a leather couch or a comfy chair) while my lady runs around the store like a chicken with its head cut off. I admit, they have some NICE stuff here. The ladies LOVE this store... and if you get your lady a gift from here, she will be ecstatic, she will express her appreciation to you, and you will be treated like a king. Parking is difficult at the 3rd Street Promenade... there is an awesome parking lot that is almost always empty south of Santa Monica on 4th, but you can't turn left on 4th and Santa Monica... the trick is to turn right on 5th or 6th street, take it up to Wilshire, turn left, and finally turn left onto 4th. If you don't want to play *that* game, park at the library. It's $1 per hour during weekday business hours, otherwise it is a flat $3 rate on the weekends. Sure, it's on 7th street, but I'd rather park there than be caught on SM and 4th in traffic. read more

Anyone who knows me knows that I am an Anthropologie addict. If we're out shopping in a new city or traveling, I always ask if an Anthro is in the neighborhood. With imported housewares, private labels and the loveliest clothing around, can you really blame me? Anthro can be pricey so it's always worth checking out the sales racks. I worked at an Anthropologie back in the day as a weekend job and can tell you that the best time to hit up the store is mid-week. Markdowns are made on Tuesdays so you get first pick of sale merchandise if you go then. For clothing or accessories I really like, I'll snap them up for regular price because they can sell out pretty quickly. Weekends can be hectic, especially at this location. The Beverly Hills location is much smaller (and sometimes snootier, in my experience) so I stay away. The Grove is ok but 3rd Street is definitely my favorite. This is by far one of my favorite Anthropologie's because it is so big! They have clothing, candles, home goods, decor, and even personal hygiene items. It's really a large store that is 2 stories. The clothing is well organized, and all the displays are super well done. Everything is exactly in its place where you expect it, and even the clearance and sales sections are fairly organized, which is my first stop in any Anthropologie. They had all the same pieces next to each other, and the sizes were pretty organized. Even the other items like candles and home decor are placed on a table inside the sales room which is easy to access and laid out so you can look for things a little more easily. In addition their home decor sections are so spot on. They have large towers of drawer handles which are so clearly labeled and organized! Plus the variety is insane; there's quite a few different options. And candles, if you ever need one this store has almost any scent you can imagine from the sweet to manly they have it all so its quite nice! Lastly, the staff is very nice and sweet; there was a lady in front of me who was quite agitated about a return issue and their staff handled it extremely well even though she wasn't very kind. And they forgot to take the little tracker off of my coat so the alarm went off so they kindly took the coat and took the tracker off apologized and walked it over to me whileI waited at the front. Really great service! Overall a good experience, and the only reason its not a 5 star is the fact that Anthropologie is a tad overpriced, but that's what the sale section is for! read more

But last night, my friend and I went in here after she raved about how great the sale section is and good lord, what an amazing sale section. I mean really cute stuff at drastically reduced prices. I scored a $288 dress for $40 and saw a ton of other cute stuff I am going to need to go back for. So if Anthro is out of your budget, come to this store and peruse the sales, it is sooo worth it. You are probably wondering about the warning. Well that's because I can't fit those sizes so have at it, but anything above that I can, SO BACK OFF MY SALES RACK BITCHES, hehe :) read more

I like Anthropologie I can't help myself. I know it's crazzzzzy expensive. The only time I ever buy anything here is in the sale section. Dude around xmas time all their dishes go on sale! The clothes are unique and a little on the funky side of things. Whoever designs the in store displays is super talented, most of the time I go in just to check out the store, and never even think of looking through the sale rack to find something to try on. Does anyone ever have that problem that occurs when you look at something on the hanger at Anthropologie, and then you try it on and it looks totally weird or awkwardly shaped? Such a deception! And I usually have to spend like 20 minutes looking through the jammed racks. I guess it's a little bit like vintage shopping, 95% of what you find looks odd. Today I was in luck, I found a cute frilly shirt for $29 (which is about as cheap as the sales go these days) but it was XS, I said wtf I'll try it on anyway. It fits perfectly, and I'm not XS let me tell you. I figure the last nice shirt I bought from here I got in high school, and I still wear it on special occasions. So why not spend the $30 on a second nice party or dinner shirt that will last a while with good care. read more

Love Anthropologie but their clothes are very hit and miss. You just got to catch it right. I came out empty handed but I always love waking into their stores. Even before you enter and didn't see the name above you would immediately recognize it as Anthropologie. The smell is also always pleasant and not overwhelming. This one in santa Monica is two stories. I only wish there was a better distinction with what you will find upstairs versus downstairs. This the story of how a girl came to be beguiled, and never wanted to break the spell. Once upon a time, a girl from the east coast came to visit her sister. She was abandoned on a bustling faux city street amidst loud buskers and pushy peddlers, so in her confusion she sought refuge in a shelter with a large rustic door and smelling faintly of the warm tropics. And lo! Her very first experience with the wonder of Anthropologie was born. She wandered among the beautiful clothes and delicate home goods in a dreamy haze, touching anything and everything and even holding some kitten-soft sweaters up to her cheek. This was what she had been searching for her entire life. No longer did the romantic inside have to settle for too-prissy Laura Ashley dresses and buttoned-up conservative clothes. No longer did the little nest builder have to search high and low for vintage-y items or look away in disgust at too-thick ugly china cups and rough, unsightly kitchen towels. Anthropologie on the Promenade was the very first of the stores I ever went to, so I still have very fond associations with the place. In the years since, many things have changed--they've grown into a huge empire and thus have become more and more expensive and definitely more picked over. They've also spawned a makeover of their ugly stepsister Urban Outfitters (still cruder and cheaper, but somehow inexplicably pricier than they were before.) I have mixed feelings about Anthropologie. Here's what I don't like. I don't like that I'm not at a station in life where I can just go in and scoop up whatever I want whenever I want. Most things are on the pricier side, some reasonably so and some on the ridiculous you'd-probably-need-to-skip-a-few-meals-to-justify-it side. I don't like that you can rarely find good things on sale anymore, because so many people go now. I don't like that sometimes when I come I feel wistful more than anything else, because there is so much there that just belongs in my house but likely won't be making it there. But all this still pales in comparison to what I do love. Anthropologie still consistently manages to assemble the most perfect selection of clothes and houseware that is just right for my sensibility. I'm sure it's not to everyone's taste, but if ever there was a store created by tiny magical fairies who hover in my subconscious and take copious notes, this is the one. It's pretty, it's refined, but it's not too fussy . . . .it's sweet and quirky, but it's not too saccharine . . . . it's feminine and charming, but absolutely not in a Victorian parlor kind of way. I just love their products, and I love how they merchandise their goods and how their visual artists create these massive artistic displays out of old newspapers and tissue paper and ridiculous items that you never knew could be beautiful. They also have great we-will-find-it-and-ship-it-to-you service (even if about a third of the time the people forget to call you back), the prettiest of complimentary gift boxes and tissue and gift cards, and overall very good customer service. There's a part of me that loves that whole Jane Austen manner so much and longs for a gentler time, but even I know that a lot of that was a facade and would grow to be stifling for a modern woman. But it's nice to strive for beauty and harmony and good manners all the same. So perhaps what I love best about Anthropologie is that whether I'm buying adornments for my person or feathers for my nest, it's always providing me with the loveliest inspiration for living a life more genteel . . . .whether the rest of the world wants to do the same or not. read more
