It's definitely a gathering spot where friends and family can come together to shop, dine and unwind. I was here recently to do take-out from Hong Kong Cafe. I remember coming here in the past for dinner at Atlantic Seafood & Dim Sum. I would love to return here more often to explore the many food options it offers (see below). Residences are on the upper floors. All shops, restaurants, and entertainment are primarily on the bottom floor. Cars enter and exit at Atlantic Blvd. There are multiple floors so make sure you remember which floor you parked at. It can get quite busy so come early for lunch or dinner for ease of parking. Its location is very convenient on Garfield Ave and cross street Garvey Ave. Lots of parking, but certain section may be snug to get through... be careful backing in or out of the parking space. It gets very busy especially on the weekend. I have been a very long time non-resident visitor of Monterey Park and its neighboring cities. This center is one that I am not a stranger to. The cement parking lot has lots of cracks. It's probably one of the oldest shopping centers around within the SGV area. I also didn't know there is a second floor to the main building. My Mom and I frequent this plaza for 2 out of the 4 or 5 businesses that reside on ground floor... Fang-Huo Ginseng and Herbs and Sham Tseng BBQ. If you're looking for reasonably priced Chinese herbs, medicine, and snacks, Fang-Huo is the place for you... please keep in mind space is tight inside. If Cantonese foods is one of your preferred cuisines, Sham Tseng BBQ is the spot for comfortable dine-in or easy take-out. Seafood Place and Wen Hui Noodle Hours are also present. There may be one other restaurant next door to Fang-Huo, but not 100% sure. I'll have to look closer next time. It is a very tiny plaza at the corner of Garvey Ave and S Chandler Ave. Parking is very limited about 20+ spots. Entry to plaza by car should be from Chandler, but I've seen drivers enter from Garvey which is not the safest because there's a lot of traffic on that street. If you're lucky, you'll get a parking space. Otherwise, you may need to park on the street or at the nearby 99 Ranch shopping center and walk on over. Funny, I've never noticed its plaza name until my most recent visit last weekend. This plaza is so small. Parking is very limited. I think I can count the number of parking spaces with all my 10 fingers... okay, maybe I may need a few of my toes, too LOL. Com Tam Kieu (CTK) gets super busy... full house packed! I really don't know where people park when they are dining at CTK. Perhaps nearby street parking. Whenever I come here, I've gotten lucky to park in the lot. Thank you! Please note each parking spot is tiny. I'm pretty sure they are all compact size. Be careful when you're driving into the space and pulling out of the space. Besides CTK, other tenants are the dentistry, law office, donut shop, and Indian cuisine. There is a 2nd floor... not sure who and/or what is up there. I may not need the other services, but maybe I will drop by the donut shop one day.

So be careful if you park in the front lot. I prefer to park in the back lot because the parking spaces are much wider and bigger. Prepandemic, this plaza was very busy. Both lots would constantly be full, so many people would park on the street. This plaza is brightly lit at night; however, there are no security guards patrolling the plaza.

I feel like I'm going to trigger a sleeper agent here, but if you remember Cue! and MVP shooters, then you have elite ball knowledge and know what this plaza was like in its prime. If you go here at an off time or mostly during the weekdays, parking is doable, but if you're here on a Friday night or weekend, good luck, it can become a PvP zone here and there are many many cars that aren't compact parking in the compact section. During a particularly busy night, I've even seen shattered glass from a car that was broken into despite there being so many cars and people around, so be careful! As for value, there's a good chunk of casual eats and treats here (currently) that aren't too pricy like the new Chinese snack shop, Matcha Maiko, Honu Hawaiian, and Boba Ave 8090, and some slightly nicer eats like Sushi Rev and Yumiyaki (soon another Chubby Cattle Empire restaurant is joining this plaza). There's Korean tofu soup, Thai food, ice cream, congee, skewers, lots of businesses open later at night, and a little bit of shopping. Lots of memories made here.

I have such vivid memories of hanging out at Cue to take sticker photos (purikura) with friends, grabbing drinks and playing cards for hours at Ten Ren's Tea, and browsing through all the cool Japanese lifestyle goods at Life Plaza. While the shops have changed over the years and the plaza looks different now, the vibe remains special. Even though the "old" spots are gone, I still find myself coming back constantly. Every corner of this place is filled with memories of growing up. It's rare to find a place that evolves with the times while still making you feel so nostalgic. Still my favorite place to hang out!

This was THE place to go to and get dropped off at or take the bus and walk to when I was in high school/early college before I was able to drive. I'm going to out myself as a fossil, but do you remember Life Plaza? Genki Living? Cue? Arcade Infinity? We really had it all back then. I'm even mourning the loss of our Cocoichibanya to this day that used to exist here. So many great businesses that have come and gone and so many years of my life spent here, great memories, sad memories, and memories with people who are no longer in my life. When I had to live in the horrific midwest, I would await the day I get to visit Diamond Plaza again. But that's just rose colored glasses. Yes, lots of businesses and some really good eateries have come and gone (crazy that Gen and Ten Ren's got eliminated), but now the plaza is SUPER FISTED. Probably due to the Chubby Cattle and the popularity of the other places to grab dinner and go to the Duo Duo Snacks. I used to be able to finesse parking in the back area or to the side near the freeway, but now you have to circle around much more often and the parking pit can't guarantee anything to you. Alongside parking being a PvP zone and no regard for human life, you gotta really watch yourself. I'm glad Sul and Beans is still around and that regardless of all the changes, you can always guarantee that there's good food here. Big fan of the Duo Duo Snacks, and it's nice that there's an anime store here (though the prices are a bit high and it's filled with mostly shonen slop).
