Originally we were booked for a 10:30am tour that goes out to watch the sea lions out on the bay, unfortunately not enough people booked that one so it was cancelled. Even though our original plan was cancelled Tiki Time Tours went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience and not only complimentary upgraded our tickets to a more expensive tour, they also gave our party a free round of drinks for the inconvenience! I think this speaks a lot about a company; anyone can be happy with customer service when everything goes according to plan, but the most important times to step up is when plans get cancelled/changed and that's exactly what they did for us! Instead of the sea lion tour we ended up doing the Tiki Live! tour at 3pm. This tour is about 2 hours and while you're out on the water you mingle with everyone else and play games that can win prizes for yourself, your party or the whole boat! The games were fun, interactive and silly. At some points we got close enough to shore and made people on land be a part of our games! Donny was our tiki tour master and he was really funny during the whole tour. In between games he just let the music play so we could enjoy the atmosphere and drinks. My entire group left with nothing but great things to say about the whole experience. My friend even won a free tour for another time so we will definitely be returning for more tiki fun.

Tickets were around $47 per person for a 2hr water tour around the Bay in a boat decorated in tiki decor. PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS. The guide will have some friendly trivia for a chance to win good cash prices, free drinks, gift cards, etc I think that was pretty fun to include in while getting a tour. If you are sensitive to getting seasick, I would recommend a Dramamine beforehand. Although the boat was spacious, it still felt the wakes from the other boats and you can go rocking. In addition there were slow times of moving and turning. Or you can just chuck down a few drinks and feel numb to it all! They have a Tiki Bar with a drink menu (no food) to purchase from and if you bring snacks to eat - you can't eat it on the boat. Drinks were good but their "house" made shots were pretty good! We had a couple rounds of those while on tour - paid round by a passenger or a free shot in the house by the staff. The awkward but not so awkward would be mingling with other folks on the boat that you don't know. One of my friends kept interjecting with another party and while they seem to not mind I could tell they were being polite but if it were me I'd probs be annoyed if someone kept interjecting while I'm having a good time with my friends. Although we all got along and occasionally shared cheers with shots. Luckily the boat was near empty with just a few of us to have some space to do your thing. Overall, nice little 2hr time in the water. Would highly recommend the later session to catch the sunset. Until the next review....

They were all so helpful and accommodating. I cannot tell you how warm and inviting they all were. You could definitely tell they loved their jobs. For me...So, despite Dramamine and sea sickness bands I got really nauseous; and I think my 3 year old did too but couldn't verbalize, because she passed out about 1.5 hours into the trip-so I was just kind of sitting towards the back holding my toddler mid trip. Which is about the time when the whales appeared! (Up to that point we saw different birds, pods of dolphins and sea lions.) So these whales on our trip were on the starboard side when they appeared, but I was on the port side, kinda stuck sitting with my sleeping toddler. At one point Colleen came and asked if she could help me move to see the whales, but that was easier said than done, especially not feeling well. I let her know she was sweet but we were okay. Well as the boat tracked the whales, I guess Colleen and Sara both mentioned to the captain that we were kind of stuck in the back on the Port side and the captain ended up turning the boat towards the whales so I could see them. It was the sweetest thing and I felt so seen as a mama. :) I didn't know how a whale watching trip could go above and beyond, but they did! We did a 12:30pm tour on a Monday and there seemed to be a good crowd, but they were not at full capacity, which meant moving around was an option for those that wanted to. We will be back, this was a great choice!

Something to note is that there is only one park, so big dogs are combined with small ones. Theres a small obstacle course for dogs to jump and run through. And for the humans, there's also a few benches on the side to sit at.

There are four big pine trees with separate retaining walls around three of them for owners to sit down. With it being so close to the bay, there's often a nice breeze that goes through the park. There's no divide between small dogs and big dogs, so it's best to just keep an eye on your dog, and many owners around here are usually respectful. The street parking immediately adjacent to the park is free, however, it has a limit of 30 minutes, and the parking meter workers are strict on it if they're around. I bring my dog here around lunch time because those who live/ work in the area tend to bring their dogs during their break time and my dog gets his socialization time. They close 8am-11am MWF for maintenance/ cleaning. Currently, both gates are broken so it's not as secure as it should be, and who knows when the city will actually fix it. There're a few agility structures and a water dispenser. The children's park itself looks pretty cool for kids with a lot of structures with slides and swings. There's also another separate area with fixed exercise equipment that looks well- maintained. The water feature in the park is a water feature, not a pool.

One thing I noticed is that I haven't really seen any lifeguards around, so if you don't know how to swim, I wouldn't recommend climbing down into the water. I also see a lot of people walking their dogs here, which is something I personally like. Between the ocean views, the sunset, and all the people out enjoying the outdoors, it's just a nice place to spend part of the day.

Highly recommend visiting if you get a chance.

Let me preface this review by saying I am not much on social media. I leave that to my wife. Most of my reviews are from an angry white man (please don't mistake me for a Trump supporter - Berrnie all the way) not happy with a product or service. However, Lucky Sol is first class. We met up with Jason three days before the cruise. He went over everything and asked what our expectation were, showed us the boat, let us know where to park, and gave us the gate codes and his cell number. He is very organized. When we arrived (my wife, son and I) on the day of the cruise, he was all set up and ready to go. He quickly addressed safety (I was having flashbacks to my childhood and the Gilligan's Island theme song was stuck in my head). Any concerns subsided quickly as Jason has a calming demeanor and certainly knows what he is doing. We were double blessed on our voyage as the first mate was Tina, Jason's wife. She was great company for my wife and son , giving me some quality time with my wife while educating and entertaining my son . She also spent quality time with my wife, while Jason educated me. All along, making sure everyone was well taken care of. My wife found out Tina owns a massage business called SomaSense Bodywork and booked a massage. She said it was the best she has ever had. They have since become Facebook friends and I understand they have welcomed a daughter into to there lives. I will have to make sure to tip bigger next time; start that education fund today! This is a quality couple. If I had to describe Jason I would say a mix between Tom Hanks and The Rock. He has that big stupid grin and if you get to meet Tina, you'll know why. We had a fantastic time taking Lucky Sol's 3-day "Bareboat Refresher" course. We weren't really "ready" for this course, so Captain Jason Thomson customized the course so we could get the most out of it. My wife, daughter and I flew to San Diego from Michigan, having spent the majority of our sailing time on inland lakes, with a little time on Lake Huron and Lake Erie. We've never cruised before, nor skippered a ship with an inboard diesel. We learned a lot the first day, maneuvering and docking the 6 ton Lucky Sol under power and lots of practical knowledge about the yacht's power plant, electronics, reviewing communication, safety and gear. We spent the second day in San Diego bay, maneuvering under sail, anchoring, reviewing navigation, and having a lot of fun. The third day was an ocean sail, a fantastic experience. During the course we made all the arrangements for a stay at a slip in a marina one night, and anchored out the next. The best thing about the course was Captain Jason, always assessing our knowledge and skill level and tailoring the course so we could get the most out of it; a truly spectacular experience. We came away from the course with much more confidence and are excited about future sailing adventures. I should also mention the on-line Nautic Ed course used to prepare for the sailing course is great - practical and fun - but be sure to allow plenty of time for this, it contains a lot of information. We had an awesome time on our 4-hour private sail! We had 3 adults, and Jason was gracious enough to allow us to bring our 2-month old daughter along for the sail as well (this was a huge bonus for us, because many companies don't allow children under 7 years old). Jason was so kind and was happy to have her on board, and even had an infant life jacket available for her. We had hoped to do some whale watching, but the water was pretty choppy and my husband and I were switching off being below deck with our daughter, and we both ended up feeling a little seasick, so Jason offered to take us back and do a long tour of a bay instead, which worked out nicely for our group. He was a wonderful captain and very personable, happy to go with the flow and make some adjustments for us. He was so kind and took the time to explain the ropes of sailing to us, and even allowed my husband and father-in-law to take the captain's seat a few times! We had a great time and will definitely be contacting Lucky Sol Sailing next time we are in the San Diego area! read more

Jason is the man. Turns out I had booked our trip for the wrong Thursday (Feb 15th not the 8th). When we showed up at the dock no one was there- obviously. I called Jason and when he realized the issue, he jumped into action. In a matter of 30 minutes he had a captain meet us at the dock and we got our sunset sail for the date we intended. Seriously, it went from a total bummer to one of the best nights ever. Of course the sunset was spectacular and the sailing was fun. Brian, our captain, was super cool and laid back and made our evening enjoyable- not to mention that he has some pretty awesome stories. It was definitely the highlight of our week in San Francisco. I always love going on a sail, but you don't always find people as accommodating as Jason and Brian. read more

Jason is great & makes the experience chill and educational. You can sail out toward Point Loma, or downtown San Diego. I also took my parents when they came to visit from Texas! I can't say enough good things about Lucky Sol, she is a great boat. If you are looking for fractional sailing options in San Diego you should give this company a thought. After obtaining our US Sailing certs we were looking for a cost effective way to gain sailing experience without breaking the bank. Lucky Sol was a great boat. 34 foot Catalina in good shape with all of the necessary equipment for a great sail at a more than reasonable price. Jason was great going over all of the details for us to be comfortable along with being available by phone for last minute questions. It turned out to be a perfect sail and we even saw whales! We booked the boat for a private 3 hour afternoon charter. The boat is spacious enough for 6 people, has all the amenities and is very comfortable. Jason, the owner/captain is pleasant and informative. Since it was a private charter, the itinerary was up to us and Jason was very accommodating. Great way to see the Bay and it's Sea Life! We saw Sea Lions, Dolphins, and many birds on our tour which took us past Pt Loma and the downtown waterfront. This class is generally offered once a month on dates that would not work for me in coming months, so I really appreciated that Ellie in the office put together an off-cycle class that worked for me. My goals were to get time on a catamaran and get some local knowledge of Catalina Island. Our instructor Lori was very knowledgeable about the basic maneuvering we were able to cover in the class, and it was obvious she is very experienced going to Catalina. She was patient and observant and provided specific feedback as I got used to using a twin screw moving around and docking in the marina, and anchoring and picking up a mooring at Catalina. One thing to be aware of, and this is not a criticism but a trade-off for this class, is that the trip to and from Catalina uses up a lot of time that might have been spent on additional docking practice (maybe add a day?). Further, on this particular trip due to winds we motored both to Catalina and back which limited the actual sailing time. For my purposes that was not an issue since I was focused on local knowledge and already had significant bigger boat experience on monohulls since receiving the US Sailing BBC rating years ago. We picked up time though since Lori made the decision to have sailors come provisioned and pick up additional stuff at Two Harbors, which I was really glad about since the syllabus seemed to suggest that we would use up valuable class time talking provisions and going shopping. Though we didn't have certain questions or requests answered, it made sense when we got there. Changes in port locations and boats happened but again, Guinevere contacted me right away to make sure we were good to go. PROVISIONS: 5 stars We were curious what provisions were provided and never got a list. The reason is that it's based on season and availability. The variety of food and beverages provided on the boat was excellent. The only critique I have is that I would portion everything out a little smaller. There were huge 2 lbs balls of frozen fish or shrimp. I was able to portion them all out to have multiple meals however. BOAT: 5 stars Though we were assigned to a smaller boat than I was hoping for, the Vada Louine was an excellent boat to learn on. She was very good to us. SAILING CLASS: 5 stars.... Students: 0 stars Ok, we suck. We did what we were told and got the books and read as much as we could before the class. But never having been on a sailboat ever, it was like reading a foreign language. The classes and certifications was like being fire hosed with information and terms. By the end of the class, though, the reading made more sense. And having the hands-on experience on the catamaran was not only helpful, but invaluable.
