Questionable hygiene. Sometimes I go here and it smells fine. The smell around the meat case section/deli is not pleasant, but tolerable. However, lately, it's been three times that we go here and it smells like rotting meat. The mixture of rotting meat smell and rotting fish is sickening in the stomach. Produce selection is OK, everything else is just ok. The store could be cleaner, but that meat section is pretty bad. I used to enjoy more coming to this store because around the corner from my house, but lately it has turned disgusting. I do not like coming here at all, even if I need to buy just 1 item. The self checkout is not organized, and the trolley carts are way too big to fit on the self checkout area. read more

Lucky - Seasoning - Grocery Near Me - West Valley City, Utah

A coworker of mine rather fanatically talks about Lucky, so I finally decided to just spend a Saturday morning in West Valley and do my grocery shopping here. It's a little run down, and reminds me of Winco with the whole half regular/half bulk grocery store thing, but Lucky takes credit cards, so they win. That said, I did not find the prices here to be any better than a standard store, except on their weekly specials. Produce was kind of interesting, with a variety of Mexican and Asian fruits and vegetables that would otherwise have to be hunted down at a specialty market (I'm looking at you mameys, prickly chayote, and other cool squash). They also had an extensive butcher case, complete with many marinated meats, but I wasn't sure of the quality so passed. Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of European candies and other pantry staples, and Lucky is the only place I've seen cacao beans for sale (and I mean the whole bean, not nibs-pretty neato!) Other than that, it was like a dirtier, lower quality grocery store, so.... If I lived closer, I would probably stop here occasionally, especially if shopping for ingredients for an ethnic dish, but trying to avoid going to three stores. However, as it is rather far out of my way, and the regular groceries were not too great (either in price, quality, or selection, I would only stop if in the area (and I rarely am). read more

If I could give negative stars I would. This Lucky location is subpar after my experience with purchasing beef chuck roast. I've never had to rebut her meat from other surrounding supermarkets. I could not believe the amount fat I put off as I prep Perez the piece of meat to cook. I should have know that the texture just didn't feel right. As I began to prepare the meat to consume the meat smelled sour beyond belief. My dog is my best judge of character and she didn't even touch the beef. I'm sad to say I spent $15.98 for 5.77lbs of meat that went straight to the trash. I will not be back to the store expect for produce only. read more

I love love love luckys! A couple months ago my mom called me up and asked if I could break down some meet for her, I'm a train chef so no big deal to me. When I saw what she had I just about craped my pants! Close to 4 whole sides of sirloin roasts, very little waste for the price (about 2 ponds) I cut up the meat into Inch-inch and a half slabs weighing about 6 to 8 ounces each times 100 steaks plus 4 bags of stew meat and one pond strip meat with the tougher pieces for sandwiches or what have you, times four . With a cost making each steak about one doller per, you can not beat that! Great del on fresh vegetables around a buck a pound for fresh greenbeans, cheap pepers, great fresh made breads ( made every fifteen minutes I had to ask and that is nuts!!) And a meat and deary selection to give any foodie a hard one! Ya I will come back every week! read more

Bought a chicken,was frozen when it thawed was decomposed. Also was clear under the skin the fat still frozen was a green and dry and toward the leg there was chunks of white ice like they inject water to increase weight was awful read more

Today I went to Lucky West Valley, at 6 pm in the afternoon, I went to the food area and asked for turkey ham, and the Lady who attended me (tall and brown complexion) Said that she could not sell me because her slicing machine Ham was already clean and I did not want to dirty it, obviously annoyed I left that place that I will never return, how can they put that type of people to "work" If they really do not want to work, I think they should better select their employees I am really very upset with this staff . read more

This place is an ABSOLUTE nightmare. No amount of savings is worth coming here. When they were super savers, I went all the time. Loved it. Now that it's switched over.... it's so crowded like Christmas Eve every day. The baskets are so big and isles so small that only one basket a time can pass. I'm a very patient person but this put me off so much that I don't want to go back. Not worth waiting 10 min for an isle to clear every time. read more

The prices really weren't great, i could get the same or close to it at smiths. The shopping carts were uncomfortably large, and i did not appreciate their staff at all. One of them nearly ran my daughter and friends kid over with a shopping cart from flying down the isle and that p.o.s could clearly see them. Never again.... read more

Got some crab, was told by a chef at a hotel restaurant and the front end manager of a different restaurant that it was bad. Had to talk two different mangers (they where not Nice) refused a rain check. The mangers could not expain to me why the crab looked this way and I was told they don't wash there food. read more

Went to the new Lucky store last night in West Jordan and the manager (I didn't get his name but he's pretty hard to miss! He's handicap-able, and not helpful AT ALL!) he wasn't willing to help me out wasn't willing or able to do his job and I won't be going back her again!
