We sometimes take our maltipoo to the dog park at Domino Park and then make our way here after for post-dog run cocktails. This place makes a mean (and large!) margarita, which is usually my go-to order. I've also ordered aperol spritzes, and various beers/ciders from the menu. I usually visit Saturday afternoons. If you'd like to snag a seat in the backyard, I'd suggest getting here early. By 3 PM, the yard is usually totally full, but our dog likes sitting inside anyways. She likes the AC! I asked if they make old fashioneds and the bartender was friendly and happy to make one (I noticed later there was a . sign for these on the wall...duh). It was tasty- a tad on the sweet side- went down easy. You can bring dogs! I love that. It seems to encourage socializing with new people. A plethora of old beer paraphernalia on the walls behind the bar. Hard rock, country, and metal on the jukebox. Backyard patio. Shuffleboard. Non-pretentious and laid back. Dogs allowed in here! Has to be one of the most friendliest and cozy bars I have been to in this area. It's the type of place where time stops and before you know it you have been here for hours and the day just passes by. Plus, it's always a bonus when you can play with all types of dogs big and small in the bar and outside in the backyard area! It's one of those locals bars where plenty of friends hang out, but the bartenders serve you quickly with a smile as if you are an old time regular even though it might be your first time there. Almost as soon as I mentioned on Yelp that service here was spotty for lady customers (after a nine month long observation period that supported my hypothesis) things took a turn for the better. I just want to thank Kat and the other lovely bartenders for their messages on Yelp, taking my comments seriously and with stride, being so sweet when we came back (just a few days later, and then again and again, including last night when we were gifted a margarita and a Yeungling - thank you!!) and for totally killin' it behind the bar. This is how business should be done, people, so take note. So many managers and owners become insane, belligerent crazies when criticized, even lightly. HOWEVER, the most beneficial way to handle things is to do exact what Kat and the ladies at Luckydog did - address the issue (regardless of whatever personal opinions they may have about it), and make good on the situation. Pronto. I've never experienced such wonderful customer service. YAY! This is all so awesome because Luckydog is, as I stated in my previous reviews, one of my favourite, and go-to, bars. We can bring the puppies and hang out in the backyard, beer is cheap, beer + shot combos are awesome, bloody marys are delicious, a chill crowd of dog owners and lovers, the best jukebox in the universe, shuffleboard... Luckydog is like a place of my dreams. A place where you can drink and be surrounded by dogs???!! Heaven!! I am at one with animals. Most of the time I actually prefer them over human company so when I saw that there was a bar in Williamsburg on Bedford Avenue that was pet friendly, I had to come and visit! It's a decent sized place with a huge backyard area that was filled to the brim on a Sunday afternoon. There's a little square of seating in the front that's semi-outdoors. Country music was playing until a two guy band came and started playing live music. That was pretty sweet. They also have a pretty awesome jukebox filled with rock music. So my kind of place! Bartenders were friendly and on the ball. Great selection of beers, alcohol and cocktails. My friend had a drink that consisted of hard cider and Fireball. Delicious. My drink was even better. Called the White Cuban it was rum, coffee and a bunch of other liquors. So luscious! We had a seat on the bench by the open window overlooking the backyard space. I became like a little kid every time someone came in with a dog. What a blast playing with all of the dogs in a chill atmosphere. They even had a covered caked dish filled with bagels and cream cheese. Looked like it was free for the taking, but I'm not 100% sure on that. They have a Star Trek pinball machine and shuffleboard if you get bored. Also, a water station for the doggies. Bathrooms were okay. No paper towels or a hand dryer! Instead of Luckydog, this place was more like LUCKY ME!!!!!!! For those who know me well, knows that I'm get super duper weak to my knees when it comes to our fuzzy for legged friends. So of course I got extremely excited when I walked in this bar late Friday night to find two dogs chilling by their owner's side and 3 more playing in the back patio. For me, this was absolutely dog-bar heaven!!! Aside from the doggies, this bar is also very chilled to hang out, especially on a Friday night. Although the space is a bit tight and seats are limited, I would still highly recommend checking it out simply because it's a cool hang out spot especially if they allow man's best friend to tag along (woof, woof)!!! Lastly, I highly recommend their Arcadia Starboard Stout. This beer was so slamming that I ended up ordering that all night long. We wandered into this place for some fortification. A high life and a shot of whiskey for $5? Wtf? We stayed for the duration of happy hour, highly entertained by our bartender, Moonshine, who told us a story about how one time he was berating grizzly bear only to realize that the drummer or something was sitting at the bar. This is one of the best and most chill bars I have ever been to! My friends and I went last night after dinner about two blocks away. We were saying how if someone wanted to point someone to a bar in Williamsburg that really repped the neighborhood, this would probably be it. When you are approaching the bar, it's you can somewhat hear the music bumpin', and the place is pretty packed when you actually get inside. We were surprised. First you see the people, and then you feel something bump your leg so you look down and lo and behold!!! Puppers If you walk further in there is a whole patio /back yard full of people and dogs.- need I say more? Well anyway, we will definitely be back (planning our dog's 12th birthday shhhh) but.. The only things I have complaints on are: 1) the bouncer- like yes we get it you're doing your job but could be a bit friendlier. I love this bar! Bartend keeps treats for your pooch, and there's always bowls of waters in the patio. If you bring your pooch, make sure it doesn't have a habit of eating cig butts (because there is a-plenty), and there have been times when people just leave their food garbage laying around. Eek! Why do you come to LuckyDog? For the outdoor garden patio and of course the PUPPY DOGS! Dogs EVERYWHERE. I enjoy this hipster haven in Williamsburg even though it gets a little too crowded for my personal comfort. The brewskies are kind of cheap. They have bucket deals on crap beer. They have a decent craft beer menu that rotates. They have shuffle board and pinball apparently which I've never noticed because the few times I've gone here its been jam packed. The servers behind the bar, I know are busy as all out hell, but a few times its been frustrating. I wasn't aware there was water on the side of the bar. Was trying to gain someone's attention. They served people to my left, people to my right, people next to me, she started talking to her friend that had a prime pooch on her lap, she did a shot and cheers with her friend, she looked at me, I thought I stood a chance and my heart skipped a beat, a few bros walk into the bar and waddle up to order, she takes their order immediately. I then find out I could have gotten my own water as my knees are ready to buckle from dehydration. She also reprimanded me for waiting for so long for water. It was kind of a weird and nasty experience. But else wise, I like to come and watch the dogs on a hot summer night, I just hate the crowds. read more

Cool, chill bar with great drinks! The interior reminds me of a mature college bar with stools alongside the bar. It's roomy and even has a backyard for chillin' and having your drinks outdoors. What I reallllly loved, was the fact that they allow your pets inside! There was a plethora of dogs running around and playing. Owners were friendly and even offered advice on breeders and care. I had a really good time playing with the dogs and chatting it up with friends at the same time. They offer a $10 1 Lb Margarita which provides a nice kick and makes it worth the price. If I lived anywhere near this bar, I'd be in on a daily basis. From the outside and to some extent, the inside, it's an average dive bar (although not dirty.) There's decent beer selection, a few specials (I had a yummy hot cider with rum), and friendly staff. What really makes this bar special are all the furry patrons! As a dog lover who can't own a dog in NYC, it's tough to get my puppy fix. I recently came in on a Sunday afternoon and the bar was packed with dogs and friends. When it's not so cold out, there is also a big back yard area. It would be awesome if they had heaters back there for the winter. The human patrons all seem really chill. Clearly they know their dogs are friendly or they wouldn't bring them in so a lot of the doggies are off leash and just wander around looking to be pet. It's fabulous. read more

Dogs are allowed off leash as it's an enclosed patio, so dogs were just running around everywhere playing with each other. It was like bringing booze to a dog park (which now that I say it, sounds amazing). The drinks are good, pretty strong, and cheap, which is what I look for in drinks. The happy hour specials make the drinks silly cheap which is another reason to love this bar. I don't actually have a dog of my own when I'm not dog sitting so this is a great place to go to to get my fill of dogs from time to time and all the dogs running around make great conversation starters if you're looking to meet new people. read more

A tall tecate and a tequila shot are $8, a bag of Zapp's (my fav New Orleans chip) are $2 and a hot pocket (yes, the ones you had as a kid) are $4. This place is great if you want to enjoy a beer and have your dog with you. If you don't have a dog, this is the place to go being that you will be able to play with some. They had a good selection of beer available, and prices were extremely reasonable. While there were only 2 bartenders, the never skipped a beat, anytime I needed a new drink, they had one over to me within a minute. Miserable, awful women with piss poor abilities as bartenders, social skills and tact. I've been in the industry for years. Never have I met a more wretched pair of women behind the bar. We were accosted because our dogs were "running around and barking" and because one happened to take a poop. First, I just want to clarify that I love the idea of this bar as a dog owner who likes to bring my puppy anywhere I can. This review is purely based on the bar staff on Friday August 13th. When I walked in they were playing an old emo band that I loved and so I asked one of the bartenders about it. We had a brief conversation where he came off as a pretentious snob and it wasn't appreciated. Around midnight the head bartender sent him home so there was one bartender and a barmaid for the entire place. My friend waited such a long time for a drink I went in to check on him from the backyard figuring he had struck up a conversation with someone. Nope, he just waited an insanely long time to be able to get his drink. When we were going to order our next round I went in and there were about a dozen people trying to order from the one bartender. I decided I was just going to close out and leave. It probably took me 15-20 minutes to close out my tab. As I was waiting I overheard the bartender say she sent the other bartender home because he was slow and that it was "more money for me." So she messed up the experience for everyone at the bar so she could have more money, not a great customer service tactic. read more

And unfortunately, the bar staff here knows that and feels that actually working is therefore somehow beneath them. I had the single WORST experience I've ever had at a bar in NYC ay Luckydog. Which is quite the accomplishment. The bartender, Kat, is an absolute bitch. She poured three drinks for my friends and I, and I handed her money. I asked her for a certain amount of change back. She thought I was leaving her a $1 tip for the drinks she had poured, when actually, I was going to leave her $6, as it was close to the holidays. I had a $5 in hand I was going to give her after I got my change. I'm bad at on-the-fly math, but I'm smart enough to know the unspoken "tip at least $1 per pour" rule. Upon thinking I had stiffed her of her appropriate tip, she screamed at me in front of the entier bar, demanding to see my ID. Once she realized it was legit, and that I was in fact 26, she threw it back in my face and once again yelled, "HAPPY HOLIDAYS" at me. I've been sitting on this experience for a while, as I know bring a bartender is around the holidays is stressful. But I have found myself unable to return to Luckydog since then. Now every time I walk past it I just get a nasty sour taste in my mouth. Really horrible person. read more

The Diet Coke @ Lucky Dog was excellent and may have actually been a Diet Pepsi but ether way it left me satisfied. The vibe at Lucky Dog is off the hook and the bartender was stacked. They have an outdoor patio, two His & Her cans and a shuffle board table for all you people that feel the need to be competitive and drunk at the same time. The bar is frequented by some real hip characters and is a great destination for all you bearded bachelors out there looking for a place to bring your lady, a lady or meet a bitch..... Great spot. Cheapskates will rejoice over $10 pitchers of Genny Cream Ale. Everyone else will be satisfied with the extensive selection of craft beers and short cocktail menu. They seem to offer a few snacks (none of which I sampled or saw) and were also laid back about people eating their own food in the backyard. The bartender was friendly enough. She wasn't especially talkative, nor did she seem very knowledgeable about the beers on tap, but she was cheery and attentive. Shuffleboard, pinball machine, and jukebox with tons of rock, alternative, and punk albums from the 70s and 80s. The spacious backyard has tons of seating (inc. a swingset) and is perfect for smokers and non-smokers alike. The crowd was mixed and relaxed, if not entirely without pretensions. You know, I actually kind of feel wrong in writing about this bar. The reason being, it's a local spot nay to be shared with the outside world. We Williamsburgers love it here because its our slightly divey, reasonably priced, indoor and outdoor bar. And yeah, there are dogs there. However, given that New York Mag wrote about it and the Gothamist named it one of the 10 Best Bars in NYC, I'd say the word is already out. Lucky Dog is great because of the music selection (live on Sundays), the beer selection (over 20 beers on tap), the Happy Hour, which is always delightfully crowded, and features a great selection of discounted beverages. They also do pitchers of local craft brews, such as Dogfish (my favorite), and Blue Point (my other favorite). In general, its just an easy bar to hang out in, it serves well in a wide variety of occasions, and it draws a good kind of crowd. If you're ever on Bedford Avenue and just need to take a load off, this is the place to do it. The outdoor area is great, lots of seating, a highly-coveted swinging bench, lots of trees and tables... and like I said, there are dogs. read more
