First time at Guzzle and it was fun! We had a reservation for 5:30pm on a Friday and got seated pretty close to reservation time. The servers were all nice and patiently explaining the menu to us and everyone else. The lighting is a bit dim and the volume is a bit loud but we were able to still hear our party speak. DRINKS: We got the Wagyu old fashioned and the coffee martini. The Wagyu old fashioned was neat. I was left with a finishing note of peanut butter which cut the fat (which was subtle and good). The coffee martini was light and different from other espresso martinis that often have milk. Overall, very balanced and creative drinks. FOOD: We had dinner plans with friends later in the light so we wanted to share small bites. We initially wanted to order the volcano roll to share but the server suggested that two might be better since the tuna was on one side and sticky rice was on the other side, so we didn't get it. We got the shrimp toast instead, along with a mochi French fry and the bw chicken. The shrimp toast was small but probably bigger than what the volcano roll would have been. The flavor was good, with some brightness/citrus in the sauce the shrimp and lobster is mixed in. I was planning on giving this experience four stars for portion size but we really enjoyed the bw chicken so upped it to five stars. My husband and I went to this restaurant, and I can confidently say that the Tavern Burger we had here was by far the best burger we've ever had! The cheese, bun, meat, and all the flavors came together perfectly, and it was truly an exceptional experience. We also tried the fries as an appetizer, and the sauce was really good. The fries had a unique, puffy texture that was something new for us and made them even more enjoyable. We also ordered the Electric Chicken, which was absolutely delicious. It was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We had it with a side of potato salad, which complemented the fried chicken really well and completed the meal. I stalked the Resy site and made my 4pm reservation as soon as it opened up! We arrived twenty minutes before our reservation with two people ahead (one with a 4:30pm and one without a reservation). The host goes down the line and seats everyone with a reservation first. She also announces to the group there are only 12 burgers so we are all encouraged to share. Hell naw did 1. she just tell us to share one burger, but 2. she totally skipped over us and went to a group two down the line. I spoke up and told her she missed us. No way am I not getting this frickin' burger. I'd be one pissed off Yelper! We got seated though and one of the first things we are asked is if we wanted to put a burger on hold for us. Ok fine, meltdown averted. We were good patrons and ordered ONE BURGER to share between the four of us. Half an hour later they asked if we wanted another because there was just one left. I guess everyone else was also being a good patron and sharing, or maybe it just wasn't that popular, or great or both. We were far from impressed. Made from the trimmings of the $150 A5 Wagyu sandwich, it had a mushy mouthfeel (probably from all the fatty trimmings) and just did not hit the spot the way a good burger should. (In comparison, we had Gramercy Tavern's burger just a few hours earlier and thought THAT was a good burger!). In retrospect, we were glad we had just gotten 1/4 of a burger each. My boo also ordered the foie gras Mont Blanc, which was creamy and not very foie gras forward, which was fine by me but still meh. We wanted to go downstairs and get the $150 A5 Wagyu sandwich at Sip, but it already had a waitlist at 5:30pm (they texted me five hours later they had a table available)! This is a great spot for date night or drinks with one other person. That being said, it is not good for groups of 3 or more, but especially for groups of 3. They do not give you a 4 seater table if your party has 3 people. You will have to sit at a small 2 seater with an extra chair added on the side which makes seating very awkward and cramped. Another reason this spot is not great for groups is because not all of their food is "shareable". The photos I have added to my review are the ones that ARE shareable. However, a lot of the other items we got such as the bikini or the shrimp toast were extremely difficult to share because it was a small bite clearly meant for one. It was misleading because our server told us that they only have shareables on the menu instead of actual entrees. I will say the food and drinks were very good, though! Grinding the meat destroys all the hard work of the Japanese cattle farmers. In a burger you can effectively create a wagyu burgers just by adjusting the ratio of fat and meat so using wagyu and regular beef to get to a 60/40 blend is the same. I sought out this spot after hitting up the SG Club in Tokyo and I gotta say the nostalgia was real. The sip underground level plays with experimental cocktail tastes and they did not disappoint. I had the tomato tree which was a clarified cocktail that tasted like a young tomato. The strawberry hot pot was as ceremonial as I imagined, pouring the cocktail in a hotpot stock pot. The taste was exquisite with hints of Sichuan peppercorn. The bartender was so friendly throughout the entire night and vibes were on point. I came as a one person walk in and was seated at the Sip bar immediately, but probably because it was a weekday so book ahead. I finished the evening with a Hokkaido soft serve which was so creamy with a hint of salt, tbh it was a big for one person but perfect to share. If I could give 100 stars I would! My 14yr old with my taste for dinning found this place online and fell in love. I couldn't say no to his request for this being his birthday dinner. I made the reservation for 4:15 PM, I didn't want to risk not getting one of those cheeseburgers. It's all he talked about. We left me with plenty of time to get there walk around the city go to dinner and then head to the next stop. TRAFFIC!! Awful, terrible, dream crushing traffic! It was bumper-to-bumper almost immediately getting out of Maine. I'm staring at the clock, watching the arrival time get later and later and my son's face go further and further from the glowing smile it had started with. I try to call the restaurant, knowing no one would be there to answer. They didn't open till 4 o'clock, and it was 10 AM. I have my husband sent an email saying that we might be late. Then traffic starts to clear up and it says we're gonna arrive in New York around 245. Awesome! No traffic picks up again and it goes back to 6 PM. We finally get a call from the restaurant, they moved things around and offered us a reservation at 5:25pm, but it was the best they could do. Their best was enough, we made it there by 5:15. Thanks to the amazing staff at sip and guzzle, my son was able to have his birthday dinner at the place he'd been dreaming about for months. We got to the bar 90 minutes before opening on Friday to try one of the 12 exclusive burgers a nights. We were the first ones in line. Within the next 30 minutes more people showed up. If you do not have a 4pm reservation you need to be one of the first 4-5 parties in line to secure a burger, but that is hoping that reservation parties share. The burger was super delicious and unique with the toppings. Was it the best burger in America though? Not sure. Wish the meet had more of a char outside because the patty seemed too soft to me and the patty seemed a little small. They get an A+ for presentation though. The mochi fry was delicious. Super unique dish. The soft serve was my absolute favorite. The milk just melts in your mouth and the outside shell was great. The lemon preserves were so yummy. But the ice cream was so expensive. In terms on drinks I actually prefer the drinks upstairs compared to downstairs. First of all the drinks upstairs are more affordable and personally thought they were better. The drinks downstairs while interesting, I thought had too much going on for a lot of them. And were so expensive. Upstairs the sun dried daisy was so yummy. The strawberry Negroni was good and the coconut flavor was great. However in the beginning it was so bitter to me compared to a normal Negroni. It grew on me though. The coffee drink was great. I love arcane coffee so can't go wrong. Downstairs we had the apple pie drink, the spicy one with a tincture, thought it was much better without adding any tincture to it ngl, hot pot drink, and a very acidic whiskey drink that came in a very heavy and small cup. This drink was way too acidic for me. Hot pot was the most interesting and worked for me. Wish I saw Japanese people working here. And I was much more impressed at the SG club in Tokyo. Service upstairs was super weird as well. People weren't that friendly and had a strange attitude. Especially the one woman who was our main bartender. It seemed like a lot of the people who got 4pm reservations and sat at the bar were bartender friends. The downstairs service was ok. One thing I didn't like about both floors is that they kept taking our menus away. It made it difficult to share one menu among more than two people and then when we wanted to order more drinks we had to keep asking. My husband and I had one of those memorable nights at Sip & Guzzle and now we understand the hype! Discovered this place through 50 Best Bar (ranking) and I was particularly excited to try it. They have two-in-one experience: Guzzle (ground floor) loud, high-energy, social and Sip (downstairs) intimate, refined. We didn't have a reservation but Guzzle is first come first serve and we got there just minutes before they opened so we made it to the bar seats. It's actually designed so you can start casual and end elevated-- or bounce between both, that would be the ideal if not bc the place gets very busy. The cocktails are exceptional and innovative. We had the Wagyu Old Fashion, with a delicious subtle peanut butter flavor, the Yuzu mugirita and the Lychee Martini with playful twist. The food was solid with so many standouts like the "Electric" chicken, fans fav, with a zesty flare that gives a numb feel to your taste buds-- especially paired with the cabbage that compliments it perfectly. The Wagyu Sandwich, one of the best I've had in the city, was an incredibly indulgent experience, featuring melt-in-your-mouth tender Wagyu beef packed between toasted bread. Also the Volcano roll, the Bikini and the pork skewer with cotton candy add a fun/unique twist to classics. Service is knowledgeable and attentive. Drinks were wonderful! Food was tasty and an experience but the portions are extremely small. The potato salad was very rich but tiny! We got the hot chicken which was fun to cut up with a giant scissor. It does have Szechuan in it which I am not a fan of. We got the vanilla soft serve special which had a tumeric shell and a lemon sorbet puree at the bottom. Soft serve was thick and cream with rich vanilla flavor. I have a lighter palate for drinks and can't go for too strong, and really enjoyed the Gimlet over rice (light, sweet but not too sweet), tomato tree (light and refreshing), and one of the newer drinks that uses grape (a bit on the sweeter side but still good). The food was excellent. We had the potato salad - which comes with taro crispys though I could not appreciate the crisps well, but it was so delicious it almost didn't matter. Highly recommend. The yakiniku comes with 2 skewers and they are so soft and delicate, really savory along with the yolk sauce which provided an additional umami boost. The cabbage salad was a miss unfortunately. Was really hoping for something lighter given its primarily vegetable dish, but the sauce is just so overly powerful. It's a lot of sauce and also too salty - really took away from this dish. Best bar in NYC hands down. Every time I come here I get more and more excited about this place. Equally cool and delectable cocktails and food. I ate downstairs at Sip, but I've also been to Guzzle and either level it's worth it. They have such a fun hole in the wall vibe, it's cozy and welcoming. First of all the service is so kind and attentive. We only had so much time to dine (about 90 minutes) and I've never seen service be so attentive and respectful about it. They were prompt, they had amazing recommendations, and they're all so effortlessly cool! I drank the strawberry hot pot cocktail, which had a flavor profile I've never tasted in my life. My friend had the mango martini which I tried and am planning on having myself next time I go (I don't even like martinis it was that good) For food we tried as much as possible. Recently went to Guzzle for a Father's Day dinner... been wanting to try for a long time. We wanted to try the burger that they are known for but unfortunately only an hour after opening, it was sold out. But we order other items they we were interested in. While waiting for our table we order drinks at the bar, the bartender was very welcoming. The location gave cozy vibes. The drinks were pretty good, great flavors but seemed a little weak, after two drinks no buzz. Once we were seated, our server was very nice and patient, helped us with the menu options. Stand out dishes were the pork yaki, volcano roll, and bikini. The fried chicken was very good until we noticed it has this flavor that causes numbing to your tongue which for us was very off putting. Also, portion sizes are very small. With that being said, I did enjoy my experience... I loved the creativity of the food and drinks, which were tasty but wish the portions were a little bigger. Run, don't walk to Sip&Guzzle! I managed to get a resy for Guzzle and got off the waitlist for Sip during dinner. Operating as two separate entities, with separate drink menus and some shared food items, both Sip and Guzzle lived up to the hype!! GUZZLE This is the restaurant component with more casual drinks and creative dishes. For two people, they recommend about 6 dishes. I was so sad that the Tavern Burger already sold but I guess it means I have to come back! -Started off with the tasty volcano roll. Combing spicy tuna, coconut sticky rice, and candied, crunchy seaweed roll, it had a nice textural contrast amongst the spice, umami, and sweet flavor profiles. -The pork yaki featured super tender and well seasoned meat skewer with a candied outer layer in addition to the fun cotton candy! -The mochi french fry was FIRE! Its chewy and crunchy at the same time and be sure to pair it with the addicting gochujang-based sauce that is garlic-y and honey-y with a nice spice kick. -The bikini was perf for cheese lovers like me and especially if you like jamon and truffle to make it even more umami. Just make sure you get a good well-balanced bite! -The electric chicken was juicy, tender, crunchy, crispy, and well seasoned! Its less spicy and salty compared to that of Pecking House but still delicious! Plus you get to cut it with fun scissors! -The cabbage was good with a creamy, tangy white sesame sauce, but can skip next time -The chicken chips and salsa was interesting with their chicharron-inspired chicken chips. The salsa had 3 layers of mango, avocado, and jalapeño with a salted foam. -The Hokkaido milk soft serve was super smooth and milky - exactly how I envisioned what I want my milk ice cream to taste like! -Drinks: The lychee martini was amazing for people who like floral/sweet drinks. The wagyu old fashion was very peanut- and whiskey-forward. SIP This is speakeasy bar downstairs that features a variety of innovative drinks -Strawberry Hotpot: I was skeptical at first but this drink was *delicious*!! I find myself too guilty to drink the soup after hotpot or ramen because its often too greasy. Fear not because this clarified drink packages similar flavors into an easily enjoyable alcoholic drink!! Its umami and spicy with just the right amount of peppercorn oil. The strawberry is just present enough to balance out the savoriness, and not too fruity nor sweet at all! Drinks are average and the food is good but more hype and not really substantial dinner food. More of a snack situation and not something I would rush back over to do again. Sip & Guzzle has been on my list ever since we went to Japan last year and were so impressed with the cocktail bars. There's an upstairs (guzzle) that seems a little more casual and had more open tables/seats at the bar. And the there's a downstairs (sip) that's smaller and more speakeasy vibe. I made a res for sip, which Reddit recommended as a better choice, and it did not disappoint We got to try 6 cocktails and my favorites were the dirty mango and strawberry hotpot. Dr green was also refreshing and unique with the dropper that you add yourself! All the drinks were very unexpected in a good way and definitely a little more savory We also tried a few items on the food menu - mochi fries and additive cabbage were my top 2! Got the last burger of the night with a 4:15 reservation, it was totally worth it. Just know, that the burger basically starts to fall apart once you pick it up because the A5. Both the burger and the sandwich were worth it, they were tender in different ways. The burger just melts as you eat it along with the cheese which doesn't over power the patty. As for the sandwich, it's crazy tender for steak to be able to eat it without any cutting. I wasn't wild about the seasonal soft serve marmalade, but it was otherwise just soft serve ice cream. This is for Guzzle specifically, not Sip. I ended up here because of TikTok. Embarrassing, I know. But they have this viral burger that is supposedly the "best in North America." Who named them the best, I haven't been able to find. They release reservations a couple weeks ahead of time, and like others have said, it's not overly difficult to get a reservation. But the trick is they only make 12 of their famous burgers a night, and once they are gone, they are gone. So getting the 4 PM reservation when they first open is the trick. I was able to do that. And service was pristine. She immediately asked me, "Do you want me to reserve a burger for you?" The burger is a wagyu burger served with a single slice of cheese on a sesame bun. The burger was good. It was fall apart soft (I ended up finishing it with my chopsticks, that's how fall apart soft it was). It had an interesting flavor. Served with fermented shishito relish, it was rich and very savory. The burger was good. But it's not the best burger I've ever had and not even the best burger I've had in New York. This is definitely a thing where they create scarcity to create virality and to get people in the door. No fries with the burger. It stands alone. Though you can buy one large "fry" that is a mochi tube topped with nacho dust. To have something a little lighter to accompany my burger, I got the "addictive cabbage," which was essentially cabbage covered in white sesame and was underwhelming. They also offer smoked oysters, foie gras (no thanks), electric chicken, and other funky little offerings. This was more of a four star meal, but the attentive and wonderful service gets it to that fifth star. I would not come back here for another round, but I'm glad I tried it once. Burger = 35 dollars. The drinks weren't bad. I had the yuzu margarita, which was light and refreshing. I also had the Hemingway highball, made wit rum, sparking grapefruit, cherry, and lime. They have an interesting variety, so I would be willing to return to Sip to try their more cocktail focused menu. Another TikTok overhype, but again, worth a try at least once. read more

The electric chicken is the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life (NOT A HIGH BAR‼). But it was mala flavored and super duper juicy and tender with super crispy breaded outside. Really well made. Although quite expensive. Enjoyed the gloves and self cutting with scissors. TLDR: Beautiful, intimate atmosphere in the basement level w/ creative concepts, but the pricetag doesn't align with portion size or overall quality..it was quite overhyped. Breakdown: We ordered several cocktails: 1) Tomato Tree ($24) 2) Strawberry Hotpot ($26) 3) Jamon & Cheese ($31) While each drink had a unique presentation & details, the portions were astonishingly small. The oversized ice cubes took up most of the glass for both the tomato tree & strawberry hotpot, leaving very little liquid. The portion was 60% ice 40% liquid, which i found it difficult to justify the price. I also was expecting more for the Jamon & Cheese drink since we paid $31, but it was pure hard liquor (I drank it all in 2 sips because of the small pour) and there were no garnishes and lack of attention to detail. For food, we tried two Volcano Rolls ($19/roll), Electric Chicken ($28), and finished with the Chestnut Date Miso Soft Serve ($22). Again, the concepts were interesting, but the portions were quite small & the quality of the was really mediocre. The Volcano Roll had a cool cigarette-inspired concept, but there was a fishy taste & it felt a underwhelming for the price. The chicken was decent, but not particularly different from the other fried chicken I've had. The best part of the meal was definitely the soft serve that was layered with miso, chestnuts, & dates. I would comeback for this specific dessert. Service was also great & our waitress was polite. Overall, this isn't a place I would personally return to. Came in by myself and got seated at the bar immediately on a busy Sunday evening about 45 min after opening. I missed out on the burger unfortunately, but ended up getting the Bikini sandwich and the Mochi French fry. Both were delicious and the servers were fantastic vibes. We loved every single drink we ordered here and my only regret is not ordering their food after looking at other peoples orders. They have a drinkable salsa with chicken chips served in such a unique way! They serve food between 5-10:30pm. Highly recommend that too, I just only knew this place for their drinks. We got really lucky and sat at the bar right away but the entire place was packed on a weekday night. Wagyu old fashioned: smooth and peanut buttery! Great for peanut butter lovers! I personally wish it had a sweet addition instead of the salty thin dried wagyu. Yuzu margarita: yuzu flavor was prominent and is perfect for a margarita. Fresh citrusy but I wish the shiso flavor was slightly more forward to balance the sour. Plum salt was a lovely match to the drink Tepache Mule: just tasted like fruity Moscow mule to me. We were unable to secure a reservation, so we decided to try the waitlist on a Monday night. We ordered the Chinatown No. 5, Satsuma Creamsicle, Drunken Grandma's Apple Pie, and the Gimlet Over Rice. The Satsuma Creamsicle was dangerously good with a refreshing mandarin flavor and not overly sweet. The Drunken Grandma's Apple Pie was good as well and reminded me of an apple whiskey sour. I do walk in at 8:55pm and I got the table at 9pm. They separated two levels. Sips is downstairs for drinks and snacks and Guzzle is upstairs for food. Honestly one of my favorite bars and one of the best bars I've ever been to. They have both good food and good drinks. I couldn't recall what the names of our drinks were but they were all light, fruity and refreshing. They weren't too sweet either. They had a lot of different Asian themed drinks and snacks. We ordered the Hokkaido milk ice cream, the fried chicken and the mochi fry. All of the snacks tasted delicious. The type of milk they used for the ice cream was so creamy and not your typical tasting vanilla soft serve. The fried chicken came out hot, fresh, crispy and well seasoned. It had a little kick to it too! The fried chicken comes with gloves so that way you don't get your hands all messy when eating. Lastly, the mochi fry we ordered was delicious and so unique! The mochi fry had a bouncy, chewy texture and was cheesy! It came with a side of ketchup as well. I would highkey recommend ordering all the food items we ordered! Reservations are required.
