Run, don't walk to Sip&Guzzle! I managed to get a resy for Guzzle and got off the waitlist for Sip during dinner. Operating as two separate entities, with separate drink menus and some shared food items, both Sip and Guzzle lived up to the hype!! GUZZLE This is the restaurant component with more casual drinks and creative dishes. For two people, they recommend about 6 dishes. I was so sad that the Tavern Burger already sold but I guess it means I have to come back! -Started off with the tasty volcano roll. Combing spicy tuna, coconut sticky rice, and candied, crunchy seaweed roll, it had a nice textural contrast amongst the spice, umami, and sweet flavor profiles. -The pork yaki featured super tender and well seasoned meat skewer with a candied outer layer in addition to the fun cotton candy! -The mochi french fry was FIRE! Its chewy and crunchy at the same time and be sure to pair it with the addicting gochujang-based sauce that is garlic-y and honey-y with a nice spice kick. -The bikini was perf for cheese lovers like me and especially if you like jamon and truffle to make it even more umami. Just make sure you get a good well-balanced bite! -The electric chicken was juicy, tender, crunchy, crispy, and well seasoned! Its less spicy and salty compared to that of Pecking House but still delicious! Plus you get to cut it with fun scissors! -The cabbage was good with a creamy, tangy white sesame sauce, but can skip next time -The chicken chips and salsa was interesting with their chicharron-inspired chicken chips. The salsa had 3 layers of mango, avocado, and jalapeño with a salted foam. -The Hokkaido milk soft serve was super smooth and milky - exactly how I envisioned what I want my milk ice cream to taste like! -Drinks: The lychee martini was amazing for people who like floral/sweet drinks. The wagyu old fashion was very peanut- and whiskey-forward. SIP This is speakeasy bar downstairs that features a variety of innovative drinks -Strawberry Hotpot: I was skeptical at first but this drink was *delicious*!! I find myself too guilty to drink the soup after hotpot or ramen because its often too greasy. Fear not because this clarified drink packages similar flavors into an easily enjoyable alcoholic drink!! Its umami and spicy with just the right amount of peppercorn oil. The strawberry is just present enough to balance out the savoriness, and not too fruity nor sweet at all! Its also cutely served at tableside with a big teapot. -Satsuma Creamsicle: A multilayer drink that was so fun to drink because each sip at a specific angle allows you get a little bit of the tangy and creamy foam, as well as the sweet and cream soda-like drink. -Plantain Colada: A banana/plantain prominent drink with some coconut vibes and bites. -Negroni in the Shade: A refreshing drink with just the right amount of grape flavors. Drinking out of the bowl while eating the tea leaf salad from a miniature bowl/spoon was also fun! Overall staff were very nice and attentive. They helped me get on the waitlist for Sip and timed everything very nicely so that the transition from dinner to more drinks was seamless. My friend booked this spot and I was initially worried looking in that we wouldn't be able to hear each other at the bar when catching up cause it was so loud/divey, but little did I know they had a bottom floor for the "Sip" speakeasy. The top is the Guzzle. We headed down and it was a completely different vibe - felt like I was back in Japan. We got various cocktails like the tomato one which was very interesting and tasted like a tomato, strawberry hot pot, and grandmas pie (easy drinking tasted like Christmas) We ordered some food too like the mochi fries which came in a swirl which was fun. Cool experience to try cocktails and interesting food options. Definitely recommend making a reservation as it is filled. If you want the burger you need to be there early as they run out. Drinks were wonderful! Food was tasty and an experience but the portions are extremely small. The potato salad was very rich but tiny! We got the hot chicken which was fun to cut up with a giant scissor. It does have Szechuan in it which I am not a fan of. We got the vanilla soft serve special which had a tumeric shell and a lemon sorbet puree at the bottom. Soft serve was thick and cream with rich vanilla flavor. We got to the bar 90 minutes before opening on Friday to try one of the 12 exclusive burgers a nights. We were the first ones in line. Within the next 30 minutes more people showed up. If you do not have a 4pm reservation you need to be one of the first 4-5 parties in line to secure a burger, but that is hoping that reservation parties share. The burger was super delicious and unique with the toppings. Was it the best burger in America though? Not sure. Wish the meet had more of a char outside because the patty seemed too soft to me and the patty seemed a little small. They get an A+ for presentation though. The mochi fry was delicious. Super unique dish. The soft serve was my absolute favorite. The milk just melts in your mouth and the outside shell was great. The lemon preserves were so yummy. But the ice cream was so expensive. In terms on drinks I actually prefer the drinks upstairs compared to downstairs. First of all the drinks upstairs are more affordable and personally thought they were better. The drinks downstairs while interesting, I thought had too much going on for a lot of them. And were so expensive. Upstairs the sun dried daisy was so yummy. The strawberry Negroni was good and the coconut flavor was great. However in the beginning it was so bitter to me compared to a normal Negroni. It grew on me though. The coffee drink was great. I love arcane coffee so can't go wrong. Downstairs we had the apple pie drink, the spicy one with a tincture, thought it was much better without adding any tincture to it ngl, hot pot drink, and a very acidic whiskey drink that came in a very heavy and small cup. This drink was way too acidic for me. Hot pot was the most interesting and worked for me. Wish I saw Japanese people working here. And I was much more impressed at the SG club in Tokyo. Service upstairs was super weird as well. People weren't that friendly and had a strange attitude. Especially the one woman who was our main bartender. We had drinks and bites at Sip and it was an enjoyable experience. I have a lighter palate for drinks and can't go for too strong, and really enjoyed the Gimlet over rice (light, sweet but not too sweet), tomato tree (light and refreshing), and one of the newer drinks that uses grape (a bit on the sweeter side but still good). The food was excellent. We had the potato salad - which comes with taro crispys though I could not appreciate the crisps well, but it was so delicious it almost didn't matter. Highly recommend. The yakiniku comes with 2 skewers and they are so soft and delicate, really savory along with the yolk sauce which provided an additional umami boost. The cabbage salad was a miss unfortunately. My husband and I had one of those memorable nights at Sip & Guzzle and now we understand the hype! Discovered this place through 50 Best Bar (ranking) and I was particularly excited to try it. They have two-in-one experience: Guzzle (ground floor) loud, high-energy, social and Sip (downstairs) intimate, refined. We didn't have a reservation but Guzzle is first come first serve and we got there just minutes before they opened so we made it to the bar seats. It's actually designed so you can start casual and end elevated-- or bounce between both, that would be the ideal if not bc the place gets very busy. The cocktails are exceptional and innovative. We had the Wagyu Old Fashion, with a delicious subtle peanut butter flavor, the Yuzu mugirita and the Lychee Martini with playful twist. The food was solid with so many standouts like the "Electric" chicken, fans fav, with a zesty flare that gives a numb feel to your taste buds-- especially paired with the cabbage that compliments it perfectly. The Wagyu Sandwich, one of the best I've had in the city, was an incredibly indulgent experience, featuring melt-in-your-mouth tender Wagyu beef packed between toasted bread. Got the last burger of the night with a 4:15 reservation, it was totally worth it. Just know, that the burger basically starts to fall apart once you pick it up because the A5. Both the burger and the sandwich were worth it, they were tender in different ways. The burger just melts as you eat it along with the cheese which doesn't over power the patty. As for the sandwich, it's crazy tender for steak to be able to eat it without any cutting. I wasn't wild about the seasonal soft serve marmalade, but it was otherwise just soft serve ice cream. I decided to treat a friend to a round and selected here as he's very much into Japanese culture. I was unable to get a reservation earlier in the week but secured one around midnight via walking up to the door. After a five minute or so wait, we were instructed to head downstairs to Sip (upstairs Guzzle is very much a BAR) and we sat at an open table for two. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. Unfortunately for us, we just missed the kitchen and it closed. I settled on a very strong Yakitini and unfortunately I can't recall what my companion ordered. First of all the service is so kind and attentive. We only had so much time to dine (about 90 minutes) and I've never seen service be so attentive and respectful about it. This is for Guzzle specifically, not Sip. I ended up here because of TikTok. Embarrassing, I know. But they have this viral burger that is supposedly the "best in North America." Who named them the best, I haven't been able to find. They release reservations a couple weeks ahead of time, and like others have said, it's not overly difficult to get a reservation. But the trick is they only make 12 of their famous burgers a night, and once they are gone, they are gone. So getting the 4 PM reservation when they first open is the trick. I was able to do that. And service was pristine. She immediately asked me, "Do you want me to reserve a burger for you?" The burger is a wagyu burger served with a single slice of cheese on a sesame bun. The burger was good. It was fall apart soft (I ended up finishing it with my chopsticks, that's how fall apart soft it was). It had an interesting flavor. Served with fermented shishito relish, it was rich and very savory. The burger was good. But it's not the best burger I've ever had and not even the best burger I've had in New York. This is definitely a thing where they create scarcity to create virality and to get people in the door. No fries with the burger. It stands alone. Though you can buy one large "fry" that is a mochi tube topped with nacho dust. To have something a little lighter to accompany my burger, I got the "addictive cabbage," which was essentially cabbage covered in white sesame and was underwhelming. They also offer smoked oysters, foie gras (no thanks), electric chicken, and other funky little offerings. This was more of a four star meal, but the attentive and wonderful service gets it to that fifth star. I would not come back here for another round, but I'm glad I tried it once. Burger = 35 dollars. The drinks weren't bad. I had the yuzu margarita, which was light and refreshing. I also had the Hemingway highball, made wit rum, sparking grapefruit, cherry, and lime. I couldn't recall what the names of our drinks were but they were all light, fruity and refreshing. They weren't too sweet either. They had a lot of different Asian themed drinks and snacks. We ordered the Hokkaido milk ice cream, the fried chicken and the mochi fry. All of the snacks tasted delicious. The type of milk they used for the ice cream was so creamy and not your typical tasting vanilla soft serve. The fried chicken came out hot, fresh, crispy and well seasoned. It had a little kick to it too! The fried chicken comes with gloves so that way you don't get your hands all messy when eating. Lastly, the mochi fry we ordered was delicious and so unique! The mochi fry had a bouncy, chewy texture and was cheesy! It came with a side of ketchup as well. I would highkey recommend ordering all the food items we ordered! Reservations are required. Sip & guzzle gets packed quickly but I would say it's definitely worth trying. They have an upstairs and a basement level. It was really fun coming here. My husband and I went to the SNG in Tokyo, Japan. I remember enjoying their interesting and exotic cocktails. It was fun to come to this branch in NYC. My husband was even able to try the Sip & Guzzle pop up in San Francisco a few years ago at True Laurel and Trick Dog, which he also enjoyed. Anyway, the funny and cool thing about the SNG Tokyo and this NYC Sip Bar is that the NYC one is a replica of the Tokyo one. So the layout looks almost identical, to the downstairs bar, no windows, same paneling, same tables/chairs and layout of bar, and even to the bathroom with the interesting "voices" in the background. They got it down!!!! The drinks though, according to our awesome bartender/server David, have some of the same cocktails, and some different. One of the drinks we had was the same in Tokyo (Whiskey Nigiri), all others were different. Although the cocktails were quite beautifully presented, and interesting, they weren't that strong for $25. One we ordered, Strawberry Hotpot, had szechuan peppercorns in it. It literally did taste like strawberry and hotpot - very exotic. My husband didn't like it, and they offered to make him another drink no problem! But, in our last round, our server David treated us to one Tomato Tree he really wanted us to try. We also got the Dirty Mango. Our 3rd round of cocktails was amazing and what I expected and hoped for. The tomato one was quite interesting - it tasted like I was drinking a garden. The Dirty Mango apparently has this special liquor from Oaxaca, Mexico, which is quite expensive. It tasted wonderful! It was great connecting with our server David, who really came to chat with us about the cocktails and our experience. I'm looking forward to returning in my next trip to NYC. Arrived at 3:30 for a 4 PM reservation because we had to secure one of the dozen Tavern burgers available at Guzzle. It was a rainy day and people started to line up around 3:45 - not sure if they had reservations or were planning to walk in. Was seated promptly at 4 and before we even got our water the server kindly asked if she should set aside a burger for us. The server also suggested my friend and I split one of the coveted Tavern burgers due to its richness, but we easily could've had our own. Honestly, this may be the best I've had all year. It was juicy and perfectly seasoned. Since we split the burger we also shared the electric chicken and addictive cabbage. Both were good, but not incredibly unique. In all, I would happily dine here again if only for the Tavern burger. read more

I went to sip earlier this year and had to come back to try Guzzle! It did not disappoint! I ordered the lychee martini to start- it was very good- it struck the right balance of sweet enough so you don't get any alcohol kickback, but not too sweet. I like the addition of the lychee fruit. For food, we ordered the mochi fry (an absolute must), the cabbage, the bikini, and the electric chicken. Everything was delicious! The cabbage was crisp, dressed well, and had a nice crunch from the tempura flakes. The sticker on the bikini sandwich cracks me up. The sandwich itself is so unique, so cheesy, and so good. The electric chicken was fun to cut. I appreciate the gloves they provide you with. The spice isn't your traditional spice, its more numbing and "electric" like the name. I had these electric flowers from Spain that make your mouth tingle and burn and have a unique after taste, and I am pretty sure they use those flowers in this dish. Such a fun surprise! I truly was not expecting that. I thought it was just called electric chicken because it was spicy (the chicken wasn't spicy at all though- it does have a strange tingle which is distinct from a spice generated tingle). And no surprise, the mochi fry was delicious again! This time it had more of a pattern to the shape... I think I prefer the amorphous shape. It's more sculptural and interesting to look at. This is my favorite cocktail bar in the city! I will definitely be returning! read more

Way way overrated. Now the food was good. The portions made a tapas place look like family style. The nonsense of only 12 burgers are idiotic and will force to pay 150 for wagyu yeah well you know what rhymes with wagyu. This place has been all over my social media and Tiktok for a long time so I knew I wanted to come here. It is not super hard to make a reservation but I would HIGHLY recommend making one - you can choose between Sip vs Guzzle (we ended up making a reservation for Guzzle where I believe you must order food items and for Sip you do not?). We came around 6:30 pm on a Friday night and it was pretty busy in there. We got seated immediately and the staff was very friendly and nice. It is pretty dark in there. They have a small unique food menu and a good variety of drink items. We decided to do family style. For drinks I got a Lychee Martini which was not bad - definitely on the sweeter side but it was pretty small. -Mochi French Fry: This was highly recommend from Tiktok and it was not bad, definitely like one long fry. It was on the bland side with the sauce but pretty good with the sauce. -Foie Gras Mont Blanc: This was more on the sweeter side than savory. The bread itself was super soft and yummy; the mont blanc cream on top was just alright -Volcano Roll: This was pretty good; pricing is just for one though, one end is the coconut rice and the other end is the spicy tuna. Very crispy outside and it went well together. -Electric Chicken: Another highly recommend item from social media and it was very meh. It is not spicy at all, Sichuan seasoning to make it "spicy" but it was meh. It really was not too special and it was not super crispy. Overall - I feel like this place is overhyped. I think that you are like unique drinks this is the place to check out but the food was pretty meh and over priced to me for the portion size. read more

Unfortunately we had to wait up at the bar (guzzle) until there were spots available at sips and had too many drinks at guzzle. if you're waiting at guzzle I recommend pacing yourself bc the drinks at sips are so much better and worth the hype! read more

Sip & Guzzle opened in January 2024 by the same team behind the SG Club in Tokyo. Both follow the same concept. Sip is downstairs, a small, intimate cocktail bar with creative drink list. Guzzle is upstairs, a louder, more casual space where you can grab a table or sit at the bar for food and drinks. Sip & Guzzle was recently ranked the 5th best bar in North America, and what stood out most to me was the service. Every server and bartender we interacted with was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely respectful. Our reservation was for Guzzle, and the standout dish was definitely the Bikini. The Electric Chicken and Mochi French Fry were solid, but nothing I'd rush back for. After dinner, our waiter kindly held 2 bar seats for us, which was a nice touch, especially since the bar gets packed and the space is tight. Later on, we headed down to Sip after being added to the waitlist at the start of our meal. I'd absolutely come back for the cocktails alone. The drink menu is full of surprises and things you won't find anywhere else. You have to try the Rum and Coke Without Cola. read more

We were having dinner and came by as we saw it was ranked one of the top bars in the US. We stopped prior to dinner to put our name on the wait list (it was packed and couldn't get a reservation online). At Guzzle which is the street level bar you are able to go up to the bar and grab a drink but at sip where we went it's only table seating and small so you need a reservation normally. Service was top notch and the drinks were unique. The one the person I was with said she absolutely loved it. I got the tomato tree and it honestly felt like I was drinking a salad. It wasn't bad I just don't know what I was expecting. The drink through was refreshing and if you're a fan of tomatoes may appreciate it more than I did. I did get a gin sour afterwards as that's my litmus test for bars and that did taste wonderful. The ambiance is like a Japanese den and it's quiet compared to upstairs while we did not order any food what people were ordering around us looked and smelled delicious. There is a time limit (think 90, we had only 60 as we were a walk up which we were fine with) so take that into consideration when ordering and they will let you know when it's your last call as well. I'd love to come back to try the food and guzzle which is a completely different experience. read more
