Sausage green pepper onion
Jaclyn W.

I was visiting a friend in Kankakee, and we were watching the NFL playoffs and he decided to order pizza. This was my first time ever trying this place. He ordered a sausage, onion, green pepper pizza. I actually really did enjoy it. There was a lot of meat and the cheese and sauce had great flavor. Everything was seasoned well.

a half eaten pizza in a box

We called our order in and the young lady on the phone was very curious. The delivery guy was very friendly and curious as well. Our pizza was very good and will order again. This was first time ordering and they are just down the street from us.

It smelled so good I couldn't wait and I ate a piece!

We ordered a small sausage pizza New Year's Day and it was here in 45 minutes. It's hot and tasty! Since they deliver well have to try their lasagna sometime!

a slice of pizza and a hot dog

Your basic pizza. Nothing extravagant but definitely no regrets. It's a good pizza. This is definitely a go to local pizza joint that would fall at 4 stars. We opted for just a XL cheese and bosco sticks. 3 star pizza but the bosco sticks are a 5! Fried bread stick with mozz in the middle soft inside with a fried exterior. Pizza was a good thin crust soft but firm with fresh flavor in the sauce. Definitely recommended.

Italian Combo with fries.

Not a bad place, not bad food. Not great, but not bad. It desperately needs to be remodeled. It is pretty much a dump.

Perhaps the most notorious replacement was Piggies(or something like that name). The owner in the 1980's painted the building pink as an act of defiance against the village. Later, the owner took it one step further and set fire to the building to gather Insurance proceeds. He was convicted of arson in local circuit court. Well, as I said, a few months ago, I decided to try the new restaurant occupying this classic downtown space on Broadway. I was relatively optimistic as I entered the restaurant with a friend. We selected a booth with an excellent view of the then operating dry cleaner across the street. I chose as my meal a basic breakfast staple: French toast... So, nothing fancy, like Eggs Benedict. When my French toast arrived, at first, I thought the waitress had brought the plate to the wrong table, because I did not really recognize the food on my plate as French toast. Well, when questioned, the waitress admitted that the plate she brought to my table was in fact the order I had placed. So, I settled in and began to eat the food on my plate. It resembled in some ways French toast, I suppose. But, in critical ways, related to texture and taste what I tried to eat was not French toast. Rather, it was somebody's idea of a concoction that built upon the concept of French toast. Perhaps that was a good artistic idea, but it did not satisfy my need for French toast. I have not been back.

But my goodness, this might be one of the most unsanitary restaurants that I have been to. I often stop here to try and get some work done while I make the trek from Chicago to Central IL, but I'm having second thoughts about re-visiting. Let's get some of the tame stuff out of the way. The food here, average and over priced. Last visit I had their half sandwich and soup. The sandwich that I ordered honestly wasn't too bad, it had chicken and avocado and some peppers inside. It was warm and the flavors balanced well. My soup was the French onion soup, which was bland and lukewarm. It came with a side of bread which was cold and hard, so eating it was no easy feat, even while dipping it in the soup. The biggest price catastrophe went to the mango smoothie. Sure, the smoothie was decent, but $7 for half of what a Smoothie King offers is painful. The horrors of this Panera were in the bathroom. I went to wash my hands when I arrived, and there was a ring of mold growing on the handles of the sink. It wasn't just a small ring, it was growing upwards, meaning that it hadn't been addressed for quite some time. It was quite honestly as bad as I had ever seen it. I always say that a restaurant's bathroom is a big indicator to the general practice of the everything else, and I shutter to think what else goes on behind the scenes. I even had to use the bathroom at the end of my meal and just left instead of using that bathroom again. Visitors beware!

As for the food, the Pepperoni Pizza was excellent and the salad bar was a nice addition. Unfortunately, the Buffalo Chicken Wing Pizza was quite dry, which was a letdown for others in our party. Overall, a decent spot for a quick Friday meal.

The pizza we ordered was thin crust and it came to the table greasy as all grease. It didn't smell like pizza nor taste like it either. The manager said it looked as usual to him, said the cheese was making the pizza greasy, what? The salad bar was still good so that is all we ended up eating and leaving. Was comped the pizza and asked if we wanted to take it home- not sure why we would want to take it home to only toss in the trash. Never seen this manager before, again the ingredients changed on this place, I'm sure due to the cost of everything today they may be seeking lesser valued items and it sure tastes like it. We'll be looking for another pizza place to visit out of this town because there are no other good pizza joints.
