I always used to think about how cool it would be to have a personal cheerleader that motivates and encourages me through life's challenges. So at a point in my life where I will be making some important career choices, I decided to contact Lucy Yeh for some guidance. Now this wasn't the first time Lucy has helped me with carrer stuff. Lucy is the positivity that everyone needs in their lives. I met Lucy approximately 5 years ago when I was an HR Director for a tech company in the L.A. area. We were having some interpersonal communication issues on our team among high level personnel and things were getting intense, so I thought it would be a good idea to find a life coach/business consultant to come in and help certain team members work out their issues. Finally, I recent had time to meet up with Lucy for our consultation session and it was hands down 5 stars. I'm sure it's different with each person, but I'll give you a general idea of my experience. Upon sitting down, Lucy offered me water and chocolate treats. After settling down, she dove into my desired direction. Following that she will looked at resume. I very much valued her opinion and guidance. We discussed what my resume projected and the level she feels I should be projecting. She discussed the weak parts of my resume and I agree. It was pointed out I was not portraying my capabilities like I needed to and I got pointers. In terms of career direction, Lucy sensed my hesitation with pursuing something better versus settling for something immediate. She knows I can easily get a job with my last level of salary but needed a push to pursue something more. I have an upcoming interview in which I know I'll get the job if I go but it's not what I want to do in terms of position and duties. It's not as challenging as I would want. The choice to have an immediate career or a satisfying career is definitely my own choice and it's not easy to hold off sometimes. But I have decided to hold out for the right career and company. It's hard to admit but I needed a push. I also needed for someone who I viewed as objective to tell me what they see my potential was and give me advice. I'd been feeling very stuck in my job. I'd been sending my resume out and not having much luck getting interviews for the jobs I really want. I'd known Lucy for some years and expressed how I was feeling. She told me she worked with people in my situation & told me to give her a call to schedule an appointment. A few months later, after finally deciding I needed to do some different, I have her a call. Her office was calm, cool, & welcoming. We sat down and starting delving into what my desires, goals, dreams, and aspirations were for my career. She asked some interesting and tough questions. I was trying just about everything- posting in magazine classified ads, Craigslist, and even putting up ads on bulletin boards in coffee shops. Nothing really seemed to generate any solid leads. I am a personal trainer and was looking to fill in a few open time slots. A few open time slots=lost income. The one advantage of working for a corporate gym like Equinox is that they will send you referrals. However, now that I am on my own, it was difficult to find new clients. I was referred to Lucy by my neighbor and upon meeting her I felt very comfortable with her and could sense that she really cared about helping me build my business. Her enthusiasm made me very glad that I was introduced to her. She helped me discover new ways of generating business and helped me set price schedules. Her advice and mentoring proved to be invaluable because within a couple of months, I have been able to finally find new clients and fill in those open time slots. DO NOT get life coaching services from this woman. She does not conduct her business in a professional manner. Whether or not she has skills is irrelevant in this case. She does not make her boundaries clear in terms of what you will get for what you are paying. Then later, once you have what she calls 'the big heavy talk' to discuss boundaries, she will tell you that it was YOUR responsibility to set the boundaries, not hers. She says she can't set any because everyone needs something different. Even though she is the business owner, not you. Funny, but other coaches / therapists / healers, etc usually have a set fee for a period of time, and give you an idea of how involved in your life they will be for the service they will be providing. Not Lucy, I was the one that had to come up with a price to offer her. I should have known then. Not a good sign. I met Lucy through a friend who recently passed away. We initially really hit it off through email, and she asked me to meet her for lunch so that we could meet and talk further. Among other things, I mentioned to her that I wanted to find out more about the dating coaching she mentioned that she offered. Who doesn't need help in that area? Lucy and I immediately hit it off with a great connection and got to know each other over a 2 1/2 hour lunch the first time we met. During that lunch I did decide to try on her dating coaching, but it never occurred to me that it meant we were not friends. To me we were friends, and I was also paying her for her coaching services for a short period of time. She neglected to mention that the 'friend' act she was putting on with me she considered part of the coaching, and was not because she actually wanted to be friends with me. Looking back, I am certain she saw that I wanted to find a close friend, and used it to her advantage. Yes, even this seemingly really genuine person has her own level of fake. Hey LA embraces it, so why not? Recently, she decided that our month of coaching was up and didn't I want to 'renew'. First off, who said anything about a month?!? My offer to her that she accepted was a $300 flat fee which I estimated would be for approx. 10 hours of coaching. The fact that we had been in touch waaayyyyy more than that didn't concern me because I thought we were friends, not just coach/client. And she wasn't logging our time that I was aware of. So I asked her how it would work continuing to be friends, while I move out of the dating coaching stuff - what do we share, etc. She looked at me like she was just going to have to set me straight. She told me that we were not friends, that she had not told me anything about herself (not true), that she acts differently with her friends than she did with me. She keeps up this 'invisible' wall for my sake. Thanks for letting me in on the master plan! While it is true that we did discuss stuff going on with me mostly, I attributed her not sharing with me equally to a bad breakup and close friend dying, all of which had just happened days before we met. I was trying to be kind, and wasn't going to pry. The amazing thing about this is that when I tried to point out that it was her responsibility to inform me of her boundaries as a business owner, she told me that I should have never assumed anything. Even though she is the one offering a service. And it is her responsibility to set the boundaries of said business. Does it sound like coaching to talk/text/email constantly several times a day? How about a spur of the moment lunch mid-day with a visit to the mall? I don't remember any coaching going on that day. Just girlfriends hanging out. This girl was such a 'professional' that when I communicated how angry I was about her boundary-less coaching, she kept blaming me, telling me I should have never assumed anything. And has not contacted me since! If you worked for yourself with the intention of building a referral business, wouldn't it be wise to try and smooth the situation over and take responsibility for your slack-a*s business practices? Oh and thanks Lucy, for confirming that you are still not taking responsibility for your lack of professionalism, based on your response below. Classy how you mention that you 'feel my pain' but have still made no effort to rectify the situation, even after this review has been posted. It appears she now has a website detailing her coaching services, which she never referred me to or mentioned. My hope is that this review will help keep anyone who is lonely for a friendship connection not to fall into this trap. There are a million 'coaches' like this in this city, all looking for what you can do for them, not the other way around. It really is true about the people in LA, unfortunately. Even the coaches with a good heart partake in this mentality of 'I am so amazing that I should be compensated for ALL the people I grace with my energy with'. Good luck! read more

We all know that we should take our cars in for regular tune-ups but sometimes wait until we see the oil on the driveway, right? Even worse, we try to fix the problem ourselves thinking we have the right tools. Lucy was a huge help with me during a career transition six months ago so when I decided to create a self-imposed "oil leak" in my personal life, my immediate thoughts were to get with Lucy. Even though I was content on continually stubbing my toe with this adventure in my life, Lucy was great helping me through texts with damn near live advice and more importantly never judged me. It took me a while to actually make an appointment with Lucy but when I did it was so worth the wait that in retrospect, I shouldn't have waited at all! I was new to Yelp and found myself randomly reading a review that Lucy had written. I was impressed with Lucy's thoroughness and attention to detail so I clicked to see what other reviews Lucy had written. Each review was insightful, thoughtful, and though at times brutally honest, always fair. After reading a dozen or so more reviews I reached out and sent her a message introducing myself because there was just too much synergy between us and I was drawn to connect with her. Over the next year we were just Yelpers and always Lucy was so supportive whenever we connected on Yelp and her reviews continued to be as consistent as ever. Finally I reached out to Lucy directly to ask her for some pointers about marketing because I figured I could learn from her savvy and expertise. What ensued was a cascade of support that I could have never imagined. Lucy was and has always been the epitome of professional, responsive, and caring. I have shared both professional and personal issues with Lucy and she has given me stellar coaching, guidance, and support with everything I share. What really makes Lucy stand out from other coaches is the care that she takes to see the full picture of what's going on with me, and also the compassion that she employs while helping me weigh through my different possible action options. Although we are all unique individuals on our own life paths Lucy always gives me plenty of emotional space to choose my own path and to steer my own ship, all while maintaining an exceptionally high degree of heart connection. I had an interview fast approaching, and I wisely made the choice to get a coaching session with Lucy focused on interview prepping. It was incredibly helpful and inspiring! She looked over my resume along with the job description, and we went through potential interview questions. We talked in a conversational style which eased my anxiety. Because I've had sessions before and she knows my background, she gave me great ideas about my strengths and experiences to highlight which had not occurred to me. We discussed a positive way to manage my lack of experience since I had a recent career change. It made me feel more at ease and prepared going into the interview which is anxiety-provoking as it is. Lucy is not your average life coach. I would call it heart-centered, business-minded, intuitive, and growth inducing coaching. She has a remarkable gift. She creates a safe, open, and warm environment to share whatever came up. A lot came up around my relationships, some childhood events, my profession, and my dreams. She helped weave these seemingly separate parts of my life into a whole which wasn't clear to me at first. This is how life is, and she illuminates it so well. I went in open-minded, while also thinking that it's probably about setting some goals and maybe looking into some blocks that I may have. IT'S WAY MORE THAN THAT. She sets the stage so well...this is not a quick fix, someone to tell you what you need to do, nor is it therapy. It's an inspiring and revealing experience, and it's clear that I'm doing the work. In one session, I had a huge a-ha moment, got emotional, and was left with a lot to think about. Long after my session, I'm still shifting and perculating. She has a way of reflecting back what she senses that works on a deep level. Lucy was not afraid to challenge me too. I appreciated it because it made me trust her more. I thought, "She's for me....she won't let me get away with being less than I am capable." Also, she models and sets her own good boundaries which I respect. I was feeling stuck. I wanted to direct my passions and personal qualities into my career somehow. I decided to scour Yelp. I played around with keywords: resume, interview coach, ... etc. Then, one afternoon I serendipitously stopped at Lucy's page. I followed a good feeling and read on. I decided to go ahead and give her a call. Just as I was feeling a bit shy to talk about this matter, I felt immediately comfortable talking with Lucy. I decided to make an appointment and I'm so happy I did. First off, she's easy to talk to. Her office has a good feeling to it as well. She makes sure that you feel comfortable. At the same time, it's a productive atmosphere - so there's a good balance. I certainly felt both at ease, and in a good space to discuss career goals. Also, she helps you hone in on your individual goals, while possessing a keen understanding of the way the business world operates. Lucy has a unique gift. In a session, she listens both intently and beyond the words. For instance, when I shared my story, she listened, processed, and synthesized. I first came in for an initial 2-hour session, with particular goals. I was eagerly looking forward to getting professional help and feedback, then arriving at a plan of action based on those goals. In the first session alone, however, she spotted some internal obstacles, and helped unearth deeper priorities. On top of this, she has scoped out some helpful contacts. Lucy's coaching approach is truly holistic - looking at the whole person. I am so thankful to have happened across her Yelp link. Sometimes, talking things through can really help a person focus in on their goals. And getting professional feedback and advice on those goals is even more powerful. Lucy Yeh has been instrumental to me for both personal and professional coaching for years. She has a way of honing in on exactly what you want to achieve and focus on, and making those concerns and goals of the utmost importance to her. Though you may go to her with the intent of discussing one aspect of your life (career for example), she will focus on everything surrounding that area of concern as well, and how it's affecting your professional goals. Her insights are brilliant, and though I mill over my own ideas (which I think are awesome and revolutionary) in my head for hours a day, she will always come up with concepts and ideas I never have thought of that completely change my direction of thought and intention in a very positive way. I'll admit prior to working with Lucy, I had some preconceived notions about what life coaching was. I pictured some sort of therapy-type meeting with a non-professional, and I stayed away. It wasn't until I found out a successful doctor I knew considered Lucy their go-to source for professional coaching that I realized I needed to leave my prejudice at the door and finally meet with her. Years later, I can't refer enough people to Lucy for coaching. Life coaching with Lucy is much more than you can really describe, and the experience is so personal to what areas of focus you need to discuss with her. I always leave feeling uplifted and like I can conquer anything, because she gives you the tools to do so. Lucy is fantastic at discussing a variety of elements of your life intensively within a session. (continued from my previous review) "Good Conscience"? What kind of professionalism is it that you would choose money over an unhappy, unsatisfied client and your reputation? As far as the "YOU have to do the work" comment...her excuse to all the negative reviews.... I hired her as part of "my work". Yet, what work has she done? Where is her responsbility in "the work". I hired her to "work" with me. I walked out of her office with NOTHING. No career path or plan. No creation of consulting practices or entrepreneurial ventures, no level of strategy, no career assessment ....didnt even ask about my resume. She got 2 hours of my time and $400, yet I have to do all the work? How self righteous. I responded to her with yet another email addressing all her invalid excuses, explaining again that I was not happy and she did not deliver what we spoke about and what she promised. That I wanted to resolve this. Anything to help make me feel better. I was willing to compromise. I asked her to at least consider a half refund of $200 and we can walk away with no hard feelings. No response....shocking. She really doesn't care. I am now demanding a full refund of $400. I wish I had the same experience as all the positive reviews state, but I did not. At all. It looks like you need to be a friend or relative of Lucy's with ALOT of cash to spend in order to get this elusive help she speaks of. As far as Lucy's ridiculous response to this review. Takes time? No, I already did the time of 15 years in a professional career. I have a determined skill set. I already know what my strengths and weaknesses are. It doesn't take rocket science or time, you idiot. What you should have said is it will take much more money. It's been 3 days and I gave her several opportunities to try to resolve this with her in a professional matter ..and I "cannot in good conscience" let this go and I am demanding my money back. Is it really worth it, Lucy? I think we both know the answer to that. (Update 4/26/15) Luckily, I was smart enough to pay Lucy by credit card and I immediately disputed the charge when she refused to mediate the problem or even communicate. Lucy had 2 billing cycles to prove that a service has been provided and since she couldn't prove sh*t because she is a scam, I got my money back. To bout, I was able to find an AMAZING career coach. One that actually uses tools like a questionnaire and career assessment test. One who took a ton of notes during the session and gave homework. One who follows up and is there for any questions and concerns. One who actually offered intelligent and tangible help. And I am happy to say, I have now found my calling and a new career path. Also, I had almost a dozen people contact me and tell me about their experience and what a loser Lucy is or to ask me about my experience in which I was more than happy to respond and all have decided to go in another direction. So for $200, she could have avoided all of this but her selfishness and un- professionalism just costed her several potential clients and $1000's. Justice has been served and I can rest knowing this piece of crap will go down in flames. I love you, Yelp! I welcome and encourage more questions and emails. Yay for YEH! I initially went to Lucy for some message therapy, but I ended up talking to her for nearly an hour before the session even began! Lucy speaks to you like the world isn't going on around you. Truly captivating, and genuinely caring. Not even feeling down on myself when I walked in, I left with straight spine and a bounce in my step. In addition to the superior life advice, she rebuilt my resume like a true professional. I've since tossed the resume I've been using for years because it just pales in comparison. The services Lucy can provide are essentially endless. It's catered to whoever needs them. What's more is that she loves doing it. It totally shows. You'll find everything she does will be meticulously above and beyond your expectations. I expected a quality experience and believe me that word is not enough to describe Lucy Yeh's approach to massage therapy! Yes, I got more than quality! First off, Lucy and I talked not only about my body's aches but also things in my life that may be leading to them. Lucy has much experience in letting you know what it is your body is asking for. She is very patient and knowledgeable ! While she tries to find a way to balance your needs with your body's needs you get to sit back in a calm environment with the most soothing music in the background! One of the first things I noticed was an aquarium with turtles and the animal lover in me felt right at home immediately. She has a great sculpture right by her door. Things that all went well together. The walls are of different soft colors. Before the massage you will be relaxed. During the time Lucy asks you where you think your pain is coming from you get to see what a great warm person she is. She reminds you that there is no reason to think you cannot be at peace with yourself and your fellow humans and surroundings. We are all part of a great reality which we can all help to make even better. Lucy is a great way to contribute to that! The massage was honestly like the parts of a dream! First you flow into relaxation and then you begin to drift away. She has a strong but soft touch. She seems to soak up negative energy. She seems to try to understand you by what she feels leaving your body. In her hands your body is like an open book and if you give her the opportunity you will be able to give your body what it asks for. Lucy is also a great counselor in other dimensions of life. Someone you can count on to get up off your feet. She offered to help me with my resume as I am looking for a better job. She suggested that I cast off fears regarding the resume and its appreciation by others. She said this was necessary in order to beam the confidence necessary to impress others with your positive energy - especially those that are to interview you. Lucy encouraged me strongly to return to the hiking paths with my BF to strengthen our relationship. She also suggested that I should return to the tennis courts so that I can improve my health. Lucy has a great approach. She does not just massage you. She hears you. She hears your body. Wow! Very disappointing. I can't believe all the great reviews. I felt good going in but was torn apart right from the beginning by this self-righteous and arrogant "life coach". I felt my blood pressure go up as she was talking down to me. I thought people like this were supposed to give you guidlines on how to better your life, not tell you what to do, like a scolding mother. Because I didn't want to do things her way and wanted her to hear my side, she basically asked why I was there. Really? This is how you treat/help potential clients? Shame on you you condescending, self-righteous, so-called life coach. Thank goodness the first session was free because she is not even worth a penny. What a waste of time. I found Lucy at a time when I was feeling like changes needed to happen in both my business and personal life but wasn't sure how. In a free phone consult, she suggested that my business was pushing for growth but that I was blocking it. This instantly hit home when she said it but it took me a month to accept it and call her back to schedule. After my first session I knew that Lucy's dual ability to act as my business strategist and life coach was exactly what I needed and I signed up for an unlimited 3 month package. In those 3 months she was my consigliere, helping me restructure my team and create job descriptions. She identified specific personality traits to choose or avoid in new hires so that they would fit in well and prequalified applicants for me. Changes that she suggested for my existing employees even fired up their motivation, and made me look great! Having Lucy to coach me through this growth helped keep me calm. The biggest help was having her figure out the best way for me to deal with different personalities, which ended up helping my personal relationships because she pointed out similar patterns that I hadn't even noticed. Lucy consistently sees the big picture, hones in on areas that need attention, and then reflects back to the big picture to show how things could play out if I choose one path over the other. Her ability to be there for me and give her opinions, push me when necessary, yet always leave the final choice up to me is very empowering. She helps me see things that are just out of my line of sight and that has even included specifics about paying attention to my own health. My cousin had his resume redone by Lucy a couple years ago and told me what a different process it was compared to the times others did it. She really got to know him during a coaching session and pointed out patterns that never occurred to him. He realized a different career path would be better for him based on this one session. The resume version she did got him interviews he never thought he would get into and his career is now in a very different place. This year I wanted to have my resume optimized so my cousin reminded me about Lucy. In just one session with her, all my questions about how to get what I want were answered. I went to Lucy after finding her on Yelp, and I'm so glad I did. When I first met with Lucy, we went over the expected basics regarding my career, but she also went deeper than that. We discussed family, friends, life goals and fears. I also see a psychiatrist, and I found working with both improved my sessions with each. My only regret is taking far too long to write this review. I cannot recommend Lucy's career coaching services highly enough. I went to her last December with a very limited idea of what I wanted to do (as a friend of mine used to say, "It's hard to see the bigger picture when you're inside the frame"). After a slew of jobs I felt disconnected from my only thought was to go the non-profit route. Lucy was a huge help when it came to the bigger picture. She listened thoughtfully to me talk about my interests, routine, and skill set for awhile before she provided me with an analysis of my past career choices and what that could mean for any I may apply to in the future. Where I was seeing inconsistency on my resume, she saw the core drive behind them and and helped me realize what exactly tied my seemingly erratic employment together. I'm a certified Academic Life Coach for teens, and I went to see certified Life Coach Lucy! It was awesome. Lucy was very warm and created a very safe space. She provided valuable insight about how to market my coaching practice, navigate personal and business relationships and network in unique ways. I went to Lucy primarily for business coaching, but I came away with so much more. Lucy is very talented and immediately put me at ease with a warm greeting. She even offers water and healthy snacks. Although I walked away with confidence and a better outlook, there is no magic transformation or cure to my issues. I did not see any immediate results.
