It turns out that Bella did not have the bordrtella vaccination and would have to have it before we check her into the place in Lafayette. We found Rocking Rooster Veterinarian via google maps and just walked in. I was greeted by a sweet kitty cat and Kim! I told her our situation and in just a few minutes she got us fixed up. The vaccine she administered no longer goes up the doggie nose, it is beef flavored and goes in her mouth. While we were there Bella scooted her fanny on the floor so Kim expressed her anal glands while we were there. Pleasant office, REALLY nice people! If we lived here Kim would be our veterinarian forever! Thank you Kim and staff. I hope you have a blessed year!

That wasn't an option, so I will give him 1 star! On may 29, 2013 at 8:00am I took my dog to Rocking Rooster in minden, La. I presented him to the vet Tech and told her after a long day and night of playing with other small dogs that he was acting like he broke something in the hind area. That when we got up he was dragging both hind legs unable to weight bear, with noticeable pain. The vet was not there when I dropped him off. I called after lunch to check on him, and the tech said he didn't have anything broke and his spinal cord seemed to be fine. They give him steroids, antibiotics, and fluids. I called Tuesday to check on him and she said he was pretty much the same and they were still giving meds and fluids. Wednesday my husband called and the Tech told him that since the swelling had gone down they could tell his hip was broke. He would need to stay in the kennel for rest and remain on meds and fluids. She said he ate a small amount of food out of her hand. When they got his pain under control he could come home. We called to check on him Thursday and they said possibly we could possibly pick him up Friday and go home with meds. We arrived at the clinic at 10:15 am. Got his meds, can food and wrote a check for $434.00. My husband went in the back so he could carry Buzz out and when he picked him up out of the kennel he was soaking wet from laying in his feces and smelled as though he had been all week. We get him home and attempt to hold him up to urinate when we noticed his urine was almost pure dark blood. I returned to the vet to get the dog food we forgot when we left. I FINALLY was able to speak with Randy, the vet, only to find out they never x-rayed my dog and he was told by the vet tech that he was hit by a car. I questioned him about the dark urine and was told that was normal for that type of injury. It would get better with more fluids and when he started moving more. We made the decision to take him to another vet hospital only to find out he was paralyzed in the rear and his kidneys had shut down from nerve damage. Most likely do to severe back injury. The vet's prognosis was less than 20% due to the amount of time that had past already. We had to make the difficult decision to put our beloved pet to sleep. I have filed complaints with the BBB, State board of vets, and La veterinary medical association. RIP BUZZ March 2009-Aug2013

I found this place while just searching for a place to board my puppy while we went out of town. I…read morewas excited that the price was affordable. My gf dropped off and said he was fine. Upon pick up one of the desk assistants was short and almost a little cold. The lady with the colorful hair was much more friendly and seemed to be happy to be there, help me and answer my questions. I did appreciate that they listened to our training methods we are using with our pup. As owners we did tell them he hadn't never interacted with other dogs other than his litermates but we should've thrown in that even then he was a loner and likes dark and confined places; so he's not lonely just a bit of a loner. The only alarming thing about this experience was that he had an appointment a couple days later and he totally freaked out when we got to the place and around the other dogs. This behavior was completely unfamiliar. We would hate to play the blame game but either he thought we were going to leave him again and he just didn't like the experience of being boarded or something ugly happened while he was there. We decided no more boarding places for him, he will stay with a friend of ours from now on when we do go out of town.

The place is clean and the rooms the pets stay in, are clean, and appear comfortable for your pet. Here's the reason for the two stars...they get almost zero interaction with anyone. They get taken out like once every three or four hours for about 7 to 8 minutes. That's it. My dog stayed here for four days, and she spent the entire 4 days waiting at the door for that precious 7 or 8 minutes. It was heartbreaking. I know this because they had a camera in her "suite". It was the saddest thing I have ever seen. I recorded her entire visit and I wish I had never done that. She was sad, lonely and at some point during the four days, simply gave up and just lay on the rug on the floor looking out, hour after hour. She was lucky enough to have a window. Have you seen the one's without a window? I cannot imagine how lonely those poor dogs must be. I just simply can't believe the staff is too busy to take the dogs out more often, or spend a few minutes with them. They charge enough money to perhaps hire more staff or a more attentive staff. If you want a safe, warm environment, this is it. If you want your dog to be stimulated, played with, taken outdoors, and talked to...pass this place by. Do your research, watch the camera on their website. Don't watch it for a few minutes..leave it up on your computer and check back every once in a while. You will definitely see what I mean.

Since he left the practice, not a single one of the staff has introduced themselves. I have no idea who the veterinarians are. Not a single one of them presents as a veterinarian. They could be housekeepers for all I know. I come from a family of veterinarians and all of their clients know who they are. This clinic provides good care. I hope one of them is a veterinarian. But I'm not really sure.
