I've used Lucy's cleaning services for almost a year now for our 1500 sqft house (monthly). Lucy's team typically does a decent job and is available with a week's notice. Their pricing started rather high given the standard cleaning work they do, but we were looking for a reliable and consistent cleaning service to work with so had no problem paying the hourly rate + generous tips for every visit. WHAT CHANGED: After our most recently cleaning, we were handed the visit summary and noticed that the rate per person, per hour was increased by $11.50 without any kind of heads up (our last cleaning was less than a month earlier). This means the new rate is $59 per hour per person (you are required to have two people for every visit). I'm sorry, but as a working professional, I CANNOT justify paying my cleaning service a rate that is equivalent to an annual salary of more than $120k per year. That coupled with the complete lack of transparency in the price change (only shared AFTER the work was completed) is totally unacceptable. I called Lucy to ask where the price increase was coming from and was told this is the new price for new customers. Again, I have been using her service monthly for almost a year now. She offered to return the difference between the price we paid less than a month ago and what we were charged today and offered discounted pricing going forward, but I just can't accept this. We're now actively looking for a new cleaning service. read more

For the very first appointment it was amazing great communication and excellent and scheduling services but the follow up afterwards is bad I've tried over the past month and a half to schedule with a maintenance cleaning and haven't had any luck it's been always a let me check and get back to you message and never a follow up and every time I check in I get completely ignored not sure what happen but I just gave up and hire a new company to come and clean I guess there only looking for new clients and not long term ones very bad on there part Lucy and her team are awesome and amazing detailed they did a super job at cleaning they had shoe covers on the whole time and face mask which is great appreciated they always checked about the smells which I'm ok with I'm definitely using them for my maintenance cleaning. read more

So.... My cleaners did show up an hour late, however, in my mind, they took extra good care of the house before mine and that means they will do a thorough and amazing job with my home. I honestly didn't even know how dirty it was until I came out mid-way and saw all of the grossness. The two ladies did such a great job, my bf and I both walked in to a brand new apartment. I am very happy with their cleaning skills. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5? They did break something of mine that was sentimental. I would have possibly been able to fix it had they left all of the pieces. I was not thrilled about that. I paid in cash and had expected some sort of invoice left somewhere stating I paid and what they did, etc. I was told over the phone that I would receive a 10% discount because it was my first service, but was asked to pay full price, which I did. They also were willing to spot clean right before inspection so we could avoid getting overcharged by our landlord. Very friendly and efficient for the time given. We hired Lucy's service for a move-out clean of our apartment (about 1400 sq. ft. of almost completely empty apartment except for one couch and a table). They quoted 45 an hour per person and said two people in about 1.5 hours should be plenty. They then said the estimated cost would be $135-$200. We arranged for them to come the day of our move out and when they arrived they said it would actually be 5+ hours (it took six hours) and we had to pay $540 bucks which is about 3x what they had originally quoted. But since we had no choice and were leaving the next day we were forced to oblige. The cleaners who came were very friendly and sweet and did a decent job (I'd say 4/5 stars on quality of the cleaning). But overall we felt fleeced by the whole process. I really cant imagine how sweeping and mopping an empty apartment and cleaning the fridge and oven took 12 person-hours and could cost over half a thousand dollars. Oh my God, please pick another company tire. This company was hired by me to do a deep clean of all surfaces after a house. Fire occurred. I hired them to deep clean everything and wipe everything down that was covered in fire extinguisher dust. Not only does this company not listen to what they're asked to do, but they can't be trusted if they're not being watched. I asked them to take everything out of the cupboards in the kitchen if it was dirty, wash it, if it was dusty, rinse it and let it air dry. I also asked them to clean the cabinets so that they were no longer covered and fire extinguisher dust. I also gave specific instructions that any wooden kitchen plates, holes, spoons, etc., to leave them for me to clean as they need to be washed a specific way. So naturally this company put all wooden things in the dishwasher and started the dishwasher. Along with this, they broken and ruined a new glass that I had just bought, I'm not really sure how they were able to accomplish that. I had to go back many times and ask them to do things again, that they supposedly cleaned. When I was in my Tupperware cabinet, I lifted up Tupperware to see an obvious clean spot of where the Tupperware has just been sitting, and the rest of the cabinet was left dirty and dusty. Even when I asked them to their face why didn't you clean this? They said oh yes, I did. This was such lazy work. Majority of the areas that they cleaned. I had to go back and redo it. I was also very clear not to enter my bedroom and start cleaning my bedroom, I was also very clear to leave piles of laundry on the floor as they're covered and dust from the fire, so again naturally the cleaning lady picks them up and puts them on my mattress. You've got to be kidding me. She then entered my bedroom and started cleaning. When I just told her not to. They started vacuuming. When I had told them not to. I couldn't have been more clear on the reasoning that they were higher. I was also very clear with the person on the phone when I scheduled for this cleaning, what they were hired for. To end the awful experience of being lied to, thinks not being clean properly, having to babysit these cleaners, I discovered that they threw away $200 worth of gift cards. How this happened I don't understand. Maybe 20 years ago when gift cards were a new thing could this be a common mistake. But this was simply ignorance and not caring about what they were doing, what they were touching, and the home that they were working in. I've never experienced a cleaner show such a little care for their customers. I also had to adore being argued with when I said your cleaners had the gift cards in their hand. What did they do with them after that, I had to deal with the manager, lying to me and saying that didn't happen, what I saw wasn't real, it was awful and completely unprofessional. I then had to take more time out of my life, for the cleaners to show back up and decide to go dumpster diving for the gift cards. This was awful. This company was hired to help Out after this fire, and I was considering hiring them again to do more cleaning in the house. I would've paid them whatever they asked, I would've worked with their schedule, and yet this is what they gave me in return. I had never used a house cleaning service before but was excited not to have to clean the house myself before our dinner party after being sick for months. My house is 1000 sq feet, and I told Lucy I would take care of the bedrooms, which left about 600 sq ft for them to clean for a few hundred dollars. Was happy to pay and tipped each woman 20 bucks. I asked for a DEEP CLEANING on the phone. I worked in my home office while they were here, trusting they could do a good job. When they said they were done, I just paid them and off they went. HUGE MISTAKE. I kept hearing the toilet flush and thought wow, they are cleaning the heck out of that john, but no, it turned out they had no buckets and were mopping all my floors with toilet water, which had funky smelling bleach tablets in the tank. They totally ignored the outdoor laundry sink with buckets underneath and used my tub (ew ew ew) and john for the mops. So all of my oak floors were washed with toilet bleach. My kitchen floor was not scrubbed (nothing was scrubbed), just lightly swirled the dirt around with toilet water using a well worn sponge mop. One woman left a wet, filthy rag on a mahogany side table. They ignored my request for them to use my green cleaning products. Nothing around the house seemed clean, in fact it seemed just as dirty (see pictures from my email to Lucy) but now smelled like toilet bleach tabs and funky smelling cleaning solutions and the finish on my table and possibly my floors were ruined. Dust strings still hung in the hallway, they cleaned the top of nothing (fridge, bathroom mirror, doorways, pictures, lights, etc.) The pictures and mirrors had cloudy streaks, walls and door jams were not cleaned, bathroom hardware and lights were not cleaned, The next morning, I scrubbed the still filthy floors and walls for an hour before I finally worked up the nerve to call Lucy and ask for some help. She insisted on sending the same incompetent women, she said they were in training and needed to learn. I disagreed with being their training lesson but she sent them anyway.
