A diamond in the rough! No offense La Junta, but you don't have much to offer besides Lucy's Tacos. In a sea of nothing lies a quaint, clean, friendly, authentic, and delicious food trailer. We had the #4- Two Carne Asada Tacos Combo with rice and beans, the bacon potato egg and cheese breakfast burrito, three rolled tacos with guacamole and cheese, and a strawberry churro. After I ordered I spoke with a guy in line and he said their signature items are the California burrito and the super nachos. I took a picture of the super nachos and they looked incredible. I'd highly recommend the breakfast burrito, refried beans, carne asada tacos, and the strawberry churro. The Spanish rice, guac, and the rolled tacos aren't worth your time. The rolled tacos have very little meat, the rice is dry, and the guac is more like a purred avocado salsa than a true guac. Ithe things I had were either wonderful or disappointing, not much of a middle ground. Good luck trying to navigate their menu to find the good stuff, it could be tough. But most of what I had was great and most of what other people ordered looked delicious. I can't wait to go back. read more

Real, fresh, authentic Mexican - can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Tacos are fantastic - especially the carnitas and the barbacoa. The breakfast burrito must be great cuz lots of people were ordering it at dinner time! Worth coming to every day to go through the whole menu! In La Junta for a quick trip. On a walk for fresh air and stumbled across Lucy's. We saw a few cars and people in front waiting for their food orders. We decided to try it for dinner and were so glad we did. We are from Los Angeles and Lucy's rivals any of the Mexican food in Scal. We ordered tostada's and the chicken salad. Both so good and fresh. Was staying in La Junta with my husband and 4yr old for work. Let me tell you its hard to find good food in La Junta but Lucy's is beyond expectations. Between my husband and I we have pretty much tried everything they offer. Everything on the menu is amazing. My husband prefers the Carne Asada Quesadilla. Its listed under side items on the menu but its so big its a meal in itself! My favorite is the Grilled Chicken Tacos. My son loves the Rolled Tacos and the Churros! My buddy and I stopped at Lucy's on our way to Picture Canyon based on a blog we read. Lucy's did live up to the internet hype from our research. The carne asada burrito was fantastic though I couldn't decide if it was the steak or guacamole that made it great. If we have time, we will definitely stop back after our backpacking trip. TL;DR version: Very good, so authentic they may or may not understand what the hell you're asking for. All of the food is made fresh to order, with the pleasant addition of Colorado-style pork green chili as a smother for just about anything. Their guac is heaven. Tacos are street-style but loaded up with more than you'd be used to, and you have to restrain them to cilantro and onions only if that's how you like your tacos (I do). The Adovado pork is excellent but chili-heavy with less sweet-heat like a normal Northern Mexico al pastor. The lengua is slow-cooked and FANTASTIC, a deserved point of pride with Lucy's. The rest of the fillings are as good as or better than what you'd expect from such an operation, the chicken in particular has a smoky grilled flavor that works well with everything. read more

One of the two or three best places in town (La Junta, Colorado) and very popular with the locals. Everything is fresh and fast, lots of take out orders, or you can eat inside. Try the horchata instead of yet another boring soft drink. Its a traditional Mexican iced drink made of rice, milk, vanilla and cinnamon - very cooling in hot weather of which Colorado has had a lot this year. read more

Not fancy surroundings by any means but I was there for the food. Ordered the tacos and when I opened the box I was amazed at how perfectly they looked. On our way from KC to New Mexico, we stopped by Lucy's Tacos for lunch. It's a taco stand, for lack of a better term, with outdoor seating. I had the number 1 combination with 3 rolled Tacos and they were amazing! The rice is also delicious! For dessert I got an apple churro. I yelped for breakfast burritos and came across Lucy's taco truck in La Junta,Co. We were on our way back to Denver and stopped by Lucy's taco truck and order 2 breakfast burritos. I ordered the breakfast burritos with chorizo in it. Boy, this was a big breakfast burrito stuffed with potatoes, scrambled egg and chunks of chorizo meat. The other breakfast burrito had scramble egg, potatoes, and sausage. They were both delicious. You could cut it in half and share their breakfast burritos. One of my local favorites. Everything I've had there has been wonderful and you can tell they're making it fresh to order and pack the food full of flavor. I'm a big fan of their tacos de Adovada and tacos do carnitas, they're both 5's in my book. The fish tacos arent the best in the world, but for SE Colorado they're pretty good. I love the pickled carrot, onion and jalapeno relish that comes with the dishes. Most of my co-workers go nuts for the burritos, but I've never tried them. The Horchata is pretty good too, I've never heard or seen it anywhere else, but its a coconut, cinammon, sweet drink that is pretty amazing if you're in the mood for something sweet and refreshing. read more

Being from Southern California I am used to authentic "California Style" Mexican from those bright yellow buildings that serve great food in large portions at reasonable prices. When I got to Colorado they do more a Tex-Mex thing. I missed the Mexican food I grew up on, so when Lucy's came to town it was a real treat. After reading several yelp reviews I thought I'd visit. This is a taco truck, just to be clear, nad that usually means exquisite flavor. It looks like it has a restaurant attached but it is just seating inside a small building and the day I went it was full of flies and not worth eating in. The food was mediocre, which surprised me. I went back again because someone said the carne asada was the best they ever tasted...well I figured out they had not tasted really good carne asada. I was not impressed. I went back and tried the "best breakfast burrito ever" (another review) and it was meh. I've tasted taco truck food all over the southwestern states and this was lacking, the cashier was sullen and snippy, harried, and the traffic going by...ok, enough. I haven't gone back. I came through town with a group of adults and Boy Scouts. We stayed overnight at the Koshare Indian Museum. Our group ate here at my request. I received a lot of compliments from my group for picking this establishment for our dinner. The adults loved it and the boys were all satisfied.
