An overnight in La Junta, Colorado, a quick Yelp search and validation from the hotel concierge and we were off to Lucy's Tacos, a roadside taco truck plunked down in what looks like a town center, with picnic tables out front and an air conditioned room with tables and TV attached. My friend had the tacos and I had a pulled pork burrito. Best burrito ever. Just the right size, spicy enough but not over the top heat, and pulled pork to die for. Have eaten there a few times authentic and good but got a bad case of food poisoning the last time we stopped

I have eaten Mexican food all over the Southwest and in Mexico and these Tacos were some of the best I have had. It's kind of like a stationary food truck. I had their Carne Asada Tacos. Excellent beef, fresh guacamole and pico de gallo. The sauces (Green and Red) taste like homemade. Many of the locals were getting the Carne Asada Fries. I wish I would have tried those. I am not sure I will ever get back to La Junta again but if I do I would absolutely stop at Lucy's Tacos. read more

This is a food truck parked, skirted, and permanently parked- walk up window, employees speak broken English- and the food is delicious. SE Colorado has a flavor unique to Mexican food, and this is a good way to sample it. I had beef potato burrito smothered - green chili a bit vinegar heavy, and red salsa pretty spicy hot. My wife had chili rellenos which was very good- portions huge. Downside is served in Styrofoam to go containers and plastic utensils. Eat on the picnic table in front or in your car or take to a motel or if your home. read more

Okay, I'm one of those persons who tries to eat the absolutely best thing and eat that every time I visit. Luckily someone insisted A Carne Asada burrito from Lucy's. We have stopped here for the last 3 or 4 years on our trips out west. We look forward to it every year. They are fast and delicious and so very nice. We have eaten at the one picnic table but usually we get it to go. They are great! read more

I love Lucy's! It's open 7 days a week and one of the very few places in La Junta that is open late. They are really quick at whipping up your order and it is very inexpensive. I would definitely recommend the carne asada fries, they are to die for! The California burrito is a great choice too! read more

Pretty good burritos and enchiladas. They are a bit on the over priced sized tho to the point of wanting to make you drive to pueblo. Pretty good taste and nice staff tho. Great for late night snacks or dinners. Churros are pretty good also and the horchata. read more

Yelp does it again. We would never have found this place except for the great reviews and luckily it was open as we passed through town. Super nachos were amazing- they have carne asada on it! One order was enough to feed our 3 hungry boys. My husband got the chicken tacos and said they were the best he had ever had. I got a carne asada burrito based on the other reviews on here and then had it smothered. It was good, but I wish I hadn't. It would have been easier to eat and then I could have added my own salsa to taste. Yum yum. We wish we lived closer so we could go back easier. read more

I stop at Lucy's every time I go through La Junta. It's a great breakfast stop after an overnight at the nearby Midtown Motel, and they're even open early on Sunday mornings. The breakfast burritos are superb - fresh and savory with generous portions. Lunches are good too. Choice of red or green salsa, provided in separate containers for individual "dosage." I also like the horchata. Lucy's is technically a taco stand, but it has an air of permanence about it - an unpretentious place that the owners and operators take pride in. read more

My wife and I were disappointed in the quality of the food, especially the fact that they use pickled ingredients, (carrots & jalapeños) that obviously came out of a can and the corn tortillas rapidly became hard and cold. That is NOT authentic Mexican food. For a "no service" business the prices were unusually high. We won't visit this place again. read more

On our way home from John Martin stopped at Lucy's Taco for lunch. Fish taco was the best, beans and rice have good flavor (not bland like most other taco shops). Also outstanding, was the carnitas and grilled chicken taco. You should try it out, you won't be disappointed! read more

This is the best for the price, i can get a sandwhich, a regular order of french fries, churros, other than the typical mexican dine. I love that they have expanded otions on every matter. The food is good. The price is right. I live about a block from it and find it hard not to have it once a week.

Tacos are more texmex than authentic. They top their tacos with pico instead of onions and cilantro. They're Asada had little flavor as well. They add so much pico that you can't eat the taco without dropping half of the taco or tearing the corn tortilla. I asked if they had chorizo tacos (not breakfast related) and he said yes but thought I was ordering a breakfast chorizo & egg burrito. Then they're tacos are $2.75 each, really? read more

I enjoyed the Carne Asada burrito with rice and beans, but the guacamole consisted of a flavorless, green purée most likely from a can. Exactly what I needed , but dont get anything vegetarian all non beg is good

Was driving through La Junta on a Friday afternoon and needed something to eat. Couldn't find anything very exciting on Yelp and didn't want to eat some nasty fast food (Carl's Jr?). This was the only restaurant with any customers. Strange layout - the kitchen is in a totally pimped-out clean and shiny sort of tractor trailer. This is parked next to an old gas station with a few tables and a bathroom. Ordered the tacos adovada combo + horchata and crossed my fingers. The order came in a styrofoam to-go box. I carried it into the clean and air-conditioned little seating area. Open it up. Looked PERFECT! Two pairs of corn tortillas overflowing with pork, guac, and pico de gallo. I was scared to eat it because I figured nothing could taste as good as those tacos looked. I was wrong. They tasted PERFECT!. Beans were great, horchata was great. I will definitely be stopping here every single time I am in the area. Actually, I will time all my future trips to the La Junta area around meals at Lucy's. read more
