Unfortunately, I really feel like the phone call we had only made the situation worse as her empathy came across as ingenuine and made me feel like I was being gaslighted for the entire 16 minutes we were on the phone. I chose Arkle because they had very minimal one-star reviews on both Google and Yelp while also looking to be the highest rated in our area of Smyrna. Looking back, I really wish I would have paid more attention to the other review left on their Google page about a friends cat that ended up having to be put down because I really thought I was about to be in the same situation two days ago. My initial frustration with Arkle is that they quoted us $170 for our first visit which included puppy shots and the exam fee. I was told every visit after would be $120 since it would no longer include the exam fee but honestly it didn't matter since both quotes were incorrect anyways. We ended up paying $210 for the first shots and exam. I told the girl about the initial price I was quoted which she then told me their prices had changed since I called due to inflation. By all means I understand inflation right now so while that (if truthful) was the case I was fine with it but I do think it would have been the more ethical decision to honor the original price I was quoted a week or two prior. My puppy started getting swollen eyes a few days after our visit and the woman on the phone let me know she would leave a message for the vet but I was never called back. I took him in first thing on Monday morning when they opened at 7:30AM where I had to leave him there all day since they had no open appointments. They ended up giving him an exam and then gave him a Benadryl and steroid shot which with all the other charges left us with another bill over $200 and seems to be a customary total every time you step foot in this place. Needless to say our puppy progressed to only get worse and began blistering at his chin so I texted them photos (which I will shout out Grace and appreciate her for responding after business hours) where I was then told to take him to an emergency vet. Before getting a response I made a quick Google search to see if I could find anything that might answer what my puppy had going on and found the closest diagnosis/match to be Puppy Strangles. After being told he needed to be taken somewhere asap I went to one of their recommendations (Urgent Vet) where I left with a $170 bill and was told my puppy either had an auto immune disease, reaction, or mite from the steroid shot. Sunday morning came and my puppy continued to get significantly WORSE, having a face so swollen it looked like he ate a bee hive full of all the bees in the state of GA. We ended up calling a friend who told us to go to Paces Ferry Animal Hospital. I called them first thing Monday morning and they got me in only an hour and a half after calling! I cannot begin to explain the mental and physical toll the past week has had on me and my family but I left PFAH so unbelievably grateful and happy that my puppy was FINALLY going to get better and had a diagnosis! The vet at PFAH told me as soon as she looked at my puppy she knew he had Puppy Strangles, which funny enough the owner of Arkle told me she also knew that once looking at his file but yet she never called to inform me of her diagnosis at any point until she finally called me after asking to talk to her TWO days in a row. I am not only frustrated but also INCREDIBLY disappointed in how my puppy and I were treated at Arkle. I really feel like they were trying to capitalize off of my emotions by looking at my puppy as a dollar sign. I wanted to write a really detailed review for anyone like me who choses who they give their business to off of their reviews so be careful and know that you might be able to save your pet and money by going somewhere else.

The vet tech went back and a conversation occurred with Dr. Day. She did not want to "get in the middle of" a lost dog and the dog should go to the pound. All of these conversations occurred in the back but I could hear all of the commentary clear as day. I informed the vet tech that posters had been posted (physical and e-postings), the Cobb county pound had been notified, and I just wanted to make sure the dog was healthy while we continued to look for the owner. Another back room conversation occurred and I finally opened the door to inform the group that I could hear them. If they did not want to provide services I can find another vet. I was just trying to do the right thing by the dog. I felt so uncomfortable and judged by Dr Day for being a descent human being. It's funny because we usually go to Powers Ferry Animal Hospital but I'm searching for a closer vet since we just moved to the area. They not only lost my business with this dog but also with two other pets as well. Do better and know that people can hear you and your words and opinions matter.

He was not simply a pet to me. He was a member of my family and brought an enormous amount of love, companionship, and happiness into my life. Losing him has already been devastating. What has made this loss significantly more difficult is that I have been left without answers about why he died. I understand that not every death can be explained. What I cannot understand is being left with no opportunity to seek an explanation through a necropsy or other appropriate post-mortem examination. I now have to live with questions that I may never be able to answer. I have been bringing my fur baby to you for over 8 years, this beyond disappointing. What concerns me most is the lack of compassion I feel I have received during an already devastating situation. Veterinary medicine is supposed to be about caring for animals and supporting the people who love them. He was a source of love in my life, and now he is gone. I cannot bring him back. But I should at least have been given every reasonable opportunity to understand why I lost him.

Flexible and reliable…read more Animal Care Clinic is the vet office that Georgia Homeless Pets rescue primarily uses for all of their spays, neuters and other vetting requirements. While not super conveniently located (for a Smyrna native at least), I can see why GHP prefers to work with them. I have heard through the foster grapevine that Animal Care Clinic is extremely flexible and is accustomed to working with the unique needs of a rescue. I have transported all three of my chihuahua-mix foster pups here for vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries and every experience has been good. All of the vet techs seem like huge animal lovers here. They are always offering up advice or friendly conversation and sometimes throwing in a free nail clip or loaning an e-collar for the benefit of the foster dogs. I love animal loving people.
