Probably a good idea to book in advance though, the restaurant filled quickly, particularly with people staying at the hotel. The main dining room was modern in décor, with well-spaced tables to suit all party sizes, and some impressive artwork on the walls. The room itself perhaps needed a little more natural light, it felt a little on the dark side. Skipping a starter, we went straight for the main courses, a decent array of different dishes from duck breast to beef, sea bass to cannelloni. I went for the rolled confit of Gloucester Old Spot Pork, with dauphinoise potatoes and black pudding in a jus, with black cabbage salsa. Great rich flavours; a little fatty perhaps, but that is the nature of the dish. The spicy black cabbage salsa cut through the fattiness perfectly, but I couldn't have eaten too much of it, very spicy! My wife had the Bromfield rump of lamb with minted peas and broad beans, with a celeriac and potato gratin; again rich, bold and flavoursome, a good hearty meal. We also shared a portion of seasonal vegetables, which accompanied both dishes nicely. After such rich flavours, I chose a dessert with contrasting flavours, chocolate and salted caramel served in a glass, a match made in heaven! But only when I'd used a teaspoon to chisel through the inch depth of solid chocolate to get to the caramel, a very strange way to serve such a dessert. Wonderful flavours yes, but many times the glass nearly ended up on the floor, as I tried to get through the chocolate! A post meal flavoursome coffee rounded off the meal nicely, as was the voucher we were given to encourage us to return. The staff were knowledgeable, and unobtrusive, but looked a little flustered as the restaurant filled.

The staff were all very welcoming, and we were all really impressed with the friendly, efficient service. The menu was full of English comfort foods...and they executed everything beautifully. Just look at my photos to get an idea...I tried the goats cheese and caramelised onion strudel, which came balanced on potatoes and perfect ratatouille. If you ever find yourself in this part of the country, it is definitely worth popping in here for some lunch! *Pro tip: It sounded like they get very booked up in the evening, so ring ahead to ensure you get a table!!

The Rake & Riddle caters for everyone with a tidy sized restaurant, sports bar and cafe. There is an outdoor seating area and play area for the kids. With a tidy sized car park to the rear. I had the mixed grill, which was cooked perfectly, and my wife had the Gammon which she thoroughly enjoyed. The chips that came with both are cooked just like regular chip shop chips, which is a major plus from us. The price is comparable with similar restaurants and I felt the portions were good value for the money.

Bwyty Mawddach is (I think) a beautifully converted barn, full of oak and slate and that breathtaking vista. It's run by Ifan and Amelie, with much of the lamb served in the restaurant farmed on the surrounding land by Ifan's brother. Downstairs is a lounge area, with the main seating area upstairs. I've always been in a big group every time I've been here and can attest that it's a great venue for friends and families. The food is largely local and seasonal. It's reasonably priced and there's a good selection. I've never had any complaints about the service.

Both times that we came, the food was bursting with delicious, fresh flavors. The halloumi fries had the squeaky bite they're known for. The fish and chips had a light and crispy batter and flaky fish. The cheese and potato pie was creamy comfort. Both of these dishes were recommended and ordering twice. The steak sandwich was tender and meaty. Desserts were sweet, satisfying, and left us all feeling quite content after the savoriness of our meals. We had the same server both times and she was fantastic! She was friendly and attentive, making sure that we had everything plus any extras that were needed. It's got to be said that the view here is phenomenal! The Corn Mill hangs above the River Dee, which gives spectacular views. The patio area makes one feel like they're floating above the river, while the dining room's spacious windows give a full view. A friendly, independent cafe that serves top notch grub…read more We found this place online and decided to pay them a visit as the burgers sounded good - we weren't disappointed! One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Served with a choice of either fries or chunky wedges (think roast potato wedges and you'll get the idea). The cafe makes its own hot sauces and strawberry jams, all of which you should try if you get a chance as they're all scrumptious. You can even buy jars of the sauces to take home. Service is warm & friendly and you're made to feel incredibly welcome the second you walk in the door to the moment you leave. If you're on the lookout for something a bit more genuine and satisfying than what the nearby commercial chains can offer this is the place!
