I started here two years ago. When I initially showed up, it was after closing hours, and the staff still allowed me in to get some info. They were super helpful, and I started my trial the next day. My first thought after my 3 day trial, "I feel at home." Before making the trip to this particular gym, I had traveled city to city looking for a place where I felt at home. This gym, did exactly that for me. I was reluctant at first, because it is located 1 hour and 30min away from where I am staying. It is well worth the trip. The staff greets you as soon as you walk in, and Sensei Duane Ludwig always has a smile on his face. I'm very big on energy. From the time you enter, until you leave, there is a consistent positive atmosphere there. Which always leaves you feeling like your at home. Whether you are an Athlete/Fighter, looking for Self Defense, Or burning calories to lose weight... they have something for everybody! Oh! The Kids program is also phenomenal! Day after day I see kids run out of their parents cars to jet to class. I usually get to the gym early and I'll peak in and watch the kids. Head Professor Sam runs that program and I can't tell you how amazing he and his assistants are with children. I don't have kids myself but I'd recommend the kids program for those who do. I've been two years committed and I have many more to come. I'm proud to be a member here! I've been a student here for almost 4 months, and the excitement to go to class and learn is still as strong as my first day. Admittedly, the first few classes can be a little intimidating and overwhelming as there is a lot to cover - especially as someone with no prior experience - but everyone is willing to help you. All of my classmates have been super great at being patient and slowing down the pace to meet me where I'm at, even though they're at a much more advanced level than I am. All the staff are super warm and welcoming the moment you walk into the dojo. Sensei Ludwig is a great teacher and not only tries to break everything down to be easily understood, but also looks out to make sure everyone is safe and not getting injured (whether that is proper body mechanics or encouraging to always protect your partner). All the coaches are super great at being resources for questions, and have always been a source of encouragement and support for me. One thing to note though is that it does require hard work. We're frequently reminded that "you get what you put in", and those words are true. In order to benefit from this dojo, you have to be dedicated to wanting to be there and learn. LMA is THE gym to learn and grow in Muay Thai Kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Ludwig, his staff/coaches and students show a great love for each other and for learning and sharing knowledge. My husband and I flew across the country for him to train for the week with Professor Ludwig and everyone embraced us with open arms truly treating us feel like family. As a well known and highly skilled professional athlete Professor Ludwig is humble and friendly showing absolute love and care for each student. The students care as well for the growth of each other and help one another in training! I would recommend this school for anyone from professional fighters to hobbyist. This gym is family friendly, respectful having integrity & everyone shows great character. I was really impressed to see professor Ludwig greeting & acknowledging his students, by name, as they entered & left the building after class. I can't give this school enough praise! When I heard that Duane Ludwig has a school down the road, I had to get off the couch and get in there. Right off the bat I was greeted with a really kind front desk staff. I was pretty intimidated before going in since I've never thrown a punch, I'm out of shape and I'm walking into a dojo full of actual world-class athletes. But right when I walked in, everyone was so chill that all the intimidation went out the window. Mr. Ludwig walked up personally and smiled and welcomed me which was really cool. I thought he would be behind the scenes but he's on the mat almost every night helping out and joking around. It's a really fun group. The coaches are the best I can imagine. They take their time with you, teach you proper technique and give you the tips you need to stay safe. I also like that there are people of all levels, from brand new all the way to professional fighters. All in all, this dojo has changed my life for the better and I'm excited for every class. Prior to becoming a student at Ludwig Martial Arts I was a wrestler but had no prior experience to martial arts or the art striking. I have been a student here for almost a year now and I can't begin to say enough great things about my time here. I have been treated with nothing but kindness, love, and respect from everyone including students, management, and Sensei Ludwig. Sensei Ludwig is the most accomplished and competent instructor anyone could ask for, he leads by example and teaches from personal experience competing at the highest levels in Muay Thai, kickboxing, and MMA. LMA offers kickboxing and BJJ classes for all levels and all ages ranging from four years old and up. Both programs teach martial arts from a self defense application while also offering an avenue for any of the students to compete if they so choose to in striking, gi and nogi jiu jitsu and or mixed martial arts. This is hands down the best martial arts dojo I have ever been to. Professor Duane Ludwig provides the best hands-on coaching with innovative techniques that are changing the striking game as we know it. He truly looks after each and every one of his students and works with them individually and figures out what they need to do to improve, it's amazing to see. Professor Sam Coutts is the best BJJ instructor I've ever witnessed. Classes are much more in tune with learning technique and drilling as opposed to the standard BJJ classes I've been a part of (10 minutes of one technique then live rolling the rest of the hour). I love this place, the instructors/coaches, the students, and the atmosphere! I had never had kick boxing training before attending Ludwig Martial Arts, but the instructors/coaches make it easy with great instruction. They break down combos, move by move, give scenarios where combos would work in competition, and can assist one on one, during class, to ensure proper technique is being used. The other students are awesome as well. Always willing to help with technique and giving best practices to help new students advance and thrive. The atmosphere is one of encouragement, fun, and a big sense of family. These are the reasons I look forward to training everyday. I drove to Denver all the way from Maryland to train with Duane and the other coaches! I stayed in Colorado to train with them for 4 days and I am definitely going to miss this gym for the time being that I'm gone. Not only was the training WORLD CLASS, the instructors are very detailed and will help you 1 on 1 to make sure you understand the technique. The classes are great for all levels from beginner to experienced! Everyone here was extremely welcoming and makes you feel at home! I just signed my son up for the kids classes! And his first experience was amazing Julian is so welcoming and kind hearted I couldn't have asked for anyone better to talk to! Then Sam did such a good job helping my boy feel comfortable and confident he has such a way with the kids that is so special! My son is so excited to start his journey in something he loves! After training off and on for 10 years I can honestly say this is the best Kickboxing / Muay Thai gym I've ever been to. They have flexible class times, great coaches, and an amazing gym culture that will only push you as hard as YOU want go. Get in shape while having fun or work towards competition. The head coach trained a UFC champion but is still a fun and humble guy. There are bag classes, technique, BJJ, and sparring. Even in sparring some people just want to learn while others compete but they all train to each other's level so no one goes too hard. Trust me, just try it and you'll see. This place is awesome! I've been going here for three years now and the improvements that I've seen have been shocking. The staff is friendly, the coaches are dedicated and the classes are fun. They challenge you which is the best part of it all. Duane is awesome every time I come by. Always making the atmosphere enjoyable. This is HANDS DOWN THE VERY BEST GYM TO TRAIN. The classes are all highly structured and very organized. They begin and end promptly exactly as the schedule specified. The instructor for kickboxing (Duane Ludwig) is always pleasant and very eager to help any and all of his students before and after class. The No-Gi grappling, The Gi Jiujitsu and kids classes are all run and organized by a incredible coach (Black Belt and life long martial artist Sam Coutts). My initial impression was this is by far the best striking gym in Colorado, they're instruction is world class and the BMT system was created with a diligence rarely found in any discipline. This is probably the best place I've trained at in Colorado!!! The people I train with are very helpful in teaching me the little details of the techniques and combinations we learn together, as well as making jokes & keeping everyone in a good mood/attitude. The sessions could sometimes be intense but that's what it is all about. Sensei Ludwig is also very friendly and straight up when letting me know what I should work on/need to learn.
