We love VMA @Flatirons Mall! Every black belt instructor is not only super friendly but extremely supportive of all the kids/adults who are working towards their black belts. My child has been working towards his black belt and has worked his way up to a green belt in the last year and half. He has since gained self confidence in several aspect of his life. As an autistic kid, he gets picked on and bullied a lot at school, since learning taekwondo at VMA his confidence level has gone up and he no longer feels vulnerable (though this does not stop the bullies, but my son doesn't feel that he is weaker than anyone). The instructors at VMA flatirons have created a safe atmosphere for my son where he feels comfortable to share his school problems with them, he never shared that with others before. Since learning taekwondo his attention and focus has also increased at school. Taekwondo works on bilateral coordination and this has helped him get better at his balance overall core strength. It's like doing OT and PT but a lot more fun while building positive self esteem and confidence. We met them at a trunk or treat in superior in 2025 and it took us a while to come in, my son was very nervous and even though he was excited to try something new it was a challenge for him to step out of his comfort zone. He cried the first day and wouldn't go on the mat. Someone from the team very gently got him to get out there onto the mat. They asked him if he would like to try off to the side and worked with him one on one. They eventually integrated him with the other kids. It was amazing to see his confidence immediately boost and him come out of his shell the way they praised his efforts! The team has been absolutely amazing and are very obviously well trained to deal with neurodivergent kids. My son has really found himself! Another note is my son has a brachial plexus injury on his right shoulder from birth. (Fractured clavicle from delivery) and has to go to physical therapy quite often for it. Taekwondo has been an amazing form of physical therapy for him as it works all the same muscles they are pushing him to work on! Our son joined Venture Martial Arts in January. What an AWESOME and positive place for kids (and adults)! The 2 instructors; Mr. A. and Mr. Gonzalez, are truly passionate about what they teach and it is evident in all that they do, especially in the way that they treat each of their students. They are both incredibly competent martial arts instructors, they are hands on, patient, respectful, fun yet firm and truly care about the personal growth, development and success of each student. We decided to try martial arts to help with our daughter's behavioral problems (ADHD and ODD) as they were starting to impact her at school. We found Venture at Flatirons Crossing and started with the first month and within two classes there was a tangible, noticeable difference and our daughter was having a much easier time with self control and attitude! He had had some negative experiences with overly aggressive coaches or coaches who did not understand the sport they were coaching. My son has been at Venture for about a year and half, and we couldn't be happier. He tried traditional sports (baseball, soccer, etc.) and nothing ever "clicked".
