After living in Dickson all my life, I had never made it in to Lugo's before. Then my friend made reservations for both of us. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but after reading through their menu and other information on their website, I was pretty sure I would like it. Upon arriving we were seated within 5 minutes by the sweetest most personable server I have delt with in many years. The interior of the restaurant is so pretty, with white table clothes and fresh flowers on every table, it was absolutely breathtaking! My friend and I tried the empanada, and it was brought out in a timely manner, and OH MY GOODNESS it was soooo good! Then I ordered the Salmon, and my friend ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu. The presentation of the food was so upscale and beautiful! And again, I was shocked! The food was soooo good, definitely worth every penny I paid for it! Then, for dessert we both tried the Affogoto. I was sooo surprised at the quality of the espresso! As a barista of 2 plus years, I might be considered a little bit of a coffee snob My words after my first sip were, "Oh wow, this is really good!" Nearly every single item on the menu is handcrafted in house, and what isn't is sourced locally. The chef even personally came out to check on us, and see how we liked our food! We went for a birthday celebration of four. Everything was delicious. Our waitress Tracy was great. I had the special beef shoulder tacos - excellent. Other - shrimp n grits, healthy bowl, beet salad and grilled chicken all delicious. Desserts are house made - fresh key lime pie, cheesecake, cream brûlée and the brownie. I have been to Lugos many times. I always feel a little disappointed. It probably has one of the best atmospheres available locally for a nice night out. Recently was the best meal I have had there. The ribeye is a solid choice on the regular menu. I have been disappointed in the other mains. Recently I had the lobster bowl (mussels, halibut, lobster, and some other Fisk with ramen in a sea food broth. It finally lived up to my expectation for an upper scale restaurant. If I was to go I would get the calamari appetizer and drinks. Then I would go do whatever else I wanted but for dinner the ribeye is good and the fish bowl (special menu item) of the desserts I would choose the tiramisu. With that specific menu I would give 4 stars however if I branched outside of those courses it would probably be a 3 read more

My bf and I went to dinner at Lugo's and the food did not disappoint!! The appetizer we had was the fried plantains, which were delicious! My bf had the chicken cordon bleu and I had the salmon, and those were both delicious also! The waitress was working hard, but we could tell she was exhausted. She did pick out a tasty moscato! It is pretty loud in the restaurant, made it difficult to have a conversation, but over all we loved it! read more

The absolute best shrimp and grits I have had in the past few years. My wife had barbecue sliders and homemade fries. Sharon was impressed by the fry's which were made fresh. Went to Saturday lunch with her girlfriends in downtown Dickson TN. Lugo's is open for lunch from 11 am - 2 pm. They will take a reservation for a group. Their lunch menu is somewhat different than the dinner menu but features the fan favorite Grits with a spicy Sausage and Grits. Totally YUM! Their Mahi Mahi fish were a special for the day and were wonderful. Salmon Sliders and slow cooked BBQ pork quesadillas also found their way to our table! Our waiter Steve was terrific and very attentive. We started with the fried plantain chips with a dipping sauce that was more than enough for the give of us to munch on before and during our meal. The food was served very quickly and was presented very nicely on the plate. The dessert menu features crème brûlée, coffee tiramisu, chocolate brownies, ice creams and sorbets. Desserts the right size to finish a lovely meal without putting you in a sugar coma. The decor is nice and inviting st lunchtime and at dinner. It's our family's favorite special occasion restaurant. A nice touch was that the chef came out to greet and talk to everyone. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a more upscale type atmosphere that is too over the top. Last evening was my second incredible experience at this restaurant. It's a bit of a drive, but had been on my list to return since the first time. Again, I was so impressed with the helpful and extremely knowledgeable wait staff. The menu selections, plus the specials make it difficult to choose because you want multiple dishes. We've had a gift card from here since before COVID and finally decided to try the restaurant out. Honestly I wonder if it would be better to eat in than to do to-go. So we called and placed our order and the woman who answered the phone took our order but when we arrived, she missed 2 of the 3 lasagnas we ordered. Plus our food was sitting in a table at the door. I was expecting it to be under a warmer or close to the kitchen but what do I know. She offered to put in the 2 additional orders but I wasn't sure at first if I should wait since everything else would be cold. Thankfully the chef volunteered to recook our mussels and calamari to ensure it was hot when the order was ready. Very nice chef! So the food, as you know I don't eat cheese but the 3 family members who ordered lasagna thought it was pretty basic and needed seasoning. I had the calamari and mussels. The calamari was good and there was a lot of mussels. But the mussels were in a water down tomato sauce (think some sauce ran through the water but mostly water). The marinara with the calamari was also thin and flavorless. I had high hopes for Lugo and thus meal missed the mark. I will say I have an extra star because the chef was so nice! read more

This is a treasure in Dickson. We enjoy eating out but have no interest in fast food. It's really nice to not have to drive to Nashville to get this kind of quality. While I haven't eaten at every restaurant in Dickson, I can't imagine there is a better restaurant in the town. While staying at a cabin nearby, we celebrated my wife's Birthday here with simply one of the greatest meals we've ever had. The reservation process is simple, the decor clean, modern, and comfortable, the staff friendly and great at what they do. Most importantly, the food is tremendous. Starting with pre-dinner cocktails (I had the old-fashioned, she had the espresso martini) we then went with the server's recommended daily small plate special as an appetizer--the pork belly. Our cabin host had also recommended we try at least one of the chef's daily specials and we're glad it was this one. I've had pork belly in the past, but this may have been the best I've ever had. A generous portion of crispy on the outside, melt in your mouth juicy on the inside pork belly coated in seasoning and a delicious soy/ginger (?) based sauce, it was good to the last bite. We also had complimentary biscuits with a sweet cream butter--really one of the best butters I've had and surprisingly good biscuits. For entrees, I went with the lasagna and my wife had the chicken cordon bleu. Both were excellently prepared--simple, elegant, and wholly unpretentious. Simple, good ingredients used perfectly. My lasagna was hearty and filling and not too salty. My wife's cordon bleu was crispy and flavorful (I can attest to that given I was lucky enough to try 3 or 4 bites) and served with a great linguini. We grabbed our tiramisu to go and it was good--she loved it, I found it just a tad too moist but that was probably just a personal taste/quirk. We'll make the drive to try this place again on anther special occasion, for sure. read more

I came here for dinner on a weeknight with a colleague to discuss work. The folks here are very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The vibe is nice, I liked the décor and the coziness of the entire restaurant. It's probably the most upscale restaurant in Dickson. They have a decent wine list and do cocktails as well. The chef/owner's wife is the bartender. They do daily specials for entrées and they also have a daily empanada. I started with the empanada and it was good. The wrapper was really good and the filling was OK. Not as much flavor as I would have liked. And the dipping sauce that accompanied it was almost like a boring poppy seed aioli. The wedge salad was good, far from great. It had diced bacon that kind of got lost in the fork full of lettuce and the iceberg lettuce was still wet in the inside, thus making a somewhat bland salad way more bland. The diced tomatoes offered little to pick up the flavor of the salad also and the dressing was decent. Their fresh fish entrée that night was a branzini. It was a filet and it was rather thin. It appeared blackened, but I think it was just the cook and possibly crust. It had really nice flavor. If it wasn't so thin, it would have been great! It sat on top of some amazing shredded carrots and greens and that offered amazing flavor. The bottom was a crayfish cake which was really good, lots of flavor, especially with the sauce on the plate. Prices are fair here, slightly high, but when you consider this was all prepared with fresh ingredients, I thought it was worth it. I'll definitely stop in again... I love to try some of their Italian dishes, like a pasta. Oh, BTW, our server was excellent... I really liked her and I wish I could spell her name (had "John"in it) to give her a much-deserved shout out. read more
