plates of mexican food on a table

I've eaten here twice since they've opened, both times the food has been great and service quick. I did order the same thing both times and got two different meals, both were good, just inconsistent. I'm sure I'll be back!

I am SO happy to finally have a fire Mexican restaurant in White Bluff! The service was fairly quick, and our server was extremely nice. He made sure at multiple points throughout the night that we were doing ok and would even make small talk with us. It's fairly casual, but that's expected and very welcome. It's the best place to go for some "Mexican therapy" as my family likes to call it. Finally, the fun part, the FOOD! Out of everything we ate, we loved all except one item -- the Chicken Chimichanga. I would stick to beef here as of now, as the chicken didn't taste seasoned. Other then that though, every other item that we tried was the BEST of that item we had have. Cheese Dip - Best. Salsa? Best! Steak Fajitas, oh my goodness amazing. And then the churros and ice cream? Superb. Overall, you can't go wrong here -- I would just stick to Beef for the time being (and if this changes, I will change my review ). Enjoy!

Nice clean place. Good service. Food is good but it's the same you would expect at most Mexican restaurants.

I always get the half order of catfish fillet, usually with a baked potato, and I have NEVER been disappointed. No joke, some of the best catfish I have had in my life! I was able to go last week while visiting, and tried the spicy catfish fillet for the first time. The breading was a little thicker than their regular fillet, but crisp and full of flavor without being overly spicy. The sides are served family style, which is dangerous for me, because I could easily take down a family's worth of creamy coleslaw, white beans with red pepper relish, and hushpuppies before my catfish even has an opportunity to get to the table. Those hushpuppies..... soooooo good! Nice and crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Large parking lot out front with the iconic Catfish statue alerting everyone that they got the right place for catfish. The interior is unassuming, and according to my dad, hasn't changed much in the last 50 years. It's clean though, and in my opinion, if you have a good thing going, then why change? The staff is super nice, and they take cash and card. Please NEVER change Catfish Kitchen!

I especially love it when simplicity and genuine passion is served, not just presentation. Anyway, to start off - this market, and it's a market, not quite a restaurant. When my friend and I stopped in, there was one table, four chairs. Since we were there late, we were able to sit and dine in. Sitting and eating there allowed us to chat with Kojo - the owner. Learning not just about the market but his history and his passion for what he does. Switching gears again - the market is in a huge shopping plaza. Lots of parking. And free. As for the food - see the pics. Dinner pics is mixed in with what was left in the market. I can't even begin to explain how much I enjoyed the flavors of the dishes he made on the spot for us. As we were there late in the day, most of the popular dishes were sold out however, he made a few suggestions, even two that were off the menu and made it to order. When we were there, it was a one man operation. So he was also our host and server. If you couldn't tell - service was excellent. Chatting about food. About seafood. About the beginning of Gulf Port. And about life in general. This is one of those places, that if I lived there - I'd frequent the place just because of him. It's just too bad that me going there requires a plane ticket and a five or so hour flight. But, also know this - next time I fly into Nashville, I'll make my way to Hermitage and have more delicious, fresh seafood.

**April 2025: Saturday Evening Visit**…read more My friend and I wanted to eat somewhere in the Hermitage area since that's where we were staying and Gulf Port Seafood had really high ratings, which were 100% well deserved. I should preface this by saying that Gulf Port is a seafood market first and that they have one table (4 chairs) so you can dine-in - but space is limited. Kojo, the restaurant owner, has both raw and hot options for patrons to enjoy. We came pretty late on a Saturday so many of his popular items (gumbo and lobster roll) were sold out, but we decide to try his other offerings which were delicious. We ordered the 2 orders of Cajun Crawfish Roll (methinks $15?), Seafood Mac & Cheese (methinks $20?) and Shrimp and Grits ($20? maybe) and all were made to order and brought to our table in a timely manner. The Cajun Crawfish Rolls came out first (I guess one order is given two rolls) and we demolished it. The toasted bun had a nice char, but was fluffy on the inside and the cajun sauce gave the crawfish nice flavor. We devoured this and were really impressed with the item. Next the Seafood Mac and Cheese came our as well as the shrimp and grits. The Mac and Cheese had such a great blend of cheeses and the noodles were cooked al dente. The grits on the shrimp and grits were scrumptious - not mushy at all and the shrimp was cooked through. Everything tasted very comforting and the prices are very reasonable! Overall, this was definitely a highlight meal of my Southern States travels and the next time I'm back in Nashville I hope to try the gumbo and lobster roll!
