This is a *massive* liquor store that carries just about anything you could possibly want, and that applies to beer, wine, liquor, tonics, ciders, cordials, mixers, apéritifs, and pretty much everything else in the wide-world of adult beverages. I'm a bourbon/Old Fashioned drinker, and this store sells three different brands of maraschino cherries/bourbon cherries, which is truly outstanding, when you consider that very few liquor stores carry any maraschino cherries at all. Now, keep in mind that you're pretty much on-your-own in this huge store. I've been shopping here for over 10 years, and not once has anyone ever asked me if I need help finding anything (and there have been times when I did). This is the "Home Depot" of liquor stores, and in that sense, you'd better know what you want, and you'd better know where to find it. No one's going to ask you. If you don't know where to find what you're looking for, be prepared to wander the aisles for a while until you do. In terms of selection, Luke's just can't be beat. You'll eventually find whatever it is you came for. Just remember to bring a healthy dose of "retail independence" when you go. read more

I shop here once a week and purchase about $95 in wine and spirits for my wife and me. On 3/16, I bought an 8-pack of Guinness cans. The beer was spoiled with an awful bitter taste. I know Guinness, and I know when it's off. I saved 5 of the cans and brought it back to Lukes. They called manager CJ to exchange the 8-pack out for fresh stuff. CJ refused and asked me for my receipt, which, of course, I didn't have. He said, sorry, I can't help you. Company policy. I told him to toss them in the trash. What a sham. Do better, Lukes! This kid will ruin your business, Mr. Luke. Talk to him and explain common sense! You risk losing my wife and I, which is $5K per year, and everyone I tell about this, for $14 (my cost). This is a big store with a large selection of just about anything you could ever want, and somethings you'd never believe existed--anyone care for moonshine pickles? You can find them at Luke's Liquors. We went there because my friend had read about liquid, alcoholic Eggo Waffles. And they had it, so it wasn't a wasted trip--success! They have a wine room and actually say it's the biggest in Massachusetts. I sort of doubt that, but I didn't question them about it. Best price and variety in like an hour radius . This place has never done me wrong . The liquor aisles are clearly labeled and they have beer organized by country in a portion of the store. I called probably 10 liquor stores before I reached out to Luke's. All 10 didn't carry what I was looking for. Many of them said they'd call me back. None did. Some said they'd gladly place a (not so) special order for me. None did. Luke's had the rum I was looking for, and they had it in vast quantities. While it was probably 10 minutes out of my way, I gladly made the trip. I picked up a case so as to make the trek worthwhile. Huge selection of just about everything here. Probably the one and ONLY reason for me to go to Rockland, but definitely well worth the trip... Holyyy craft beer mecca. This is my adult candy store. I could spend hours. There was SO much to see. A whole section of domestic micro-brews and then a longggg row of import craft beers. The prices were fairly comparable to other places I buy beer... some better, some a tad higher. But the selection is without contest. If my wallet allowed, I would have left with a lot more but opted for a favorite, Wells Banana Bread Beer and a new one to try, a Cappuccino stout. Apparently we had just missed a beer tasting which was a bummer, so I will definitely have to come back for one of those. read more

I recently went to Lukes to purchase some IPA's. Nothing outside the cooler was within its best by date. It was like a boneyard. Then I got to checking some of the other products on the shelf as well and what would you know, also past their best buy. So be aware and check the dates before you buy. Most respectable retailers would take these off the shelves and take the loss. Bottom line, if you cant sell it then don't stock it. read more

Went to my first Luke's Liquors wine tasting last weekend..I'm a changed woman. For only $5.00, you get a wine glass, samples from over 300 different wines, and as much appetizers as you can eat. As far as liquor stores go Luke's should be an automatic go-to for any South Shore native (or if you happen to be visiting friends or family in the area and need something at the last minute). Their selection is unrivaled in the region and for a store of its size it is also very well equipped with knowledgable staff that is observant more than willing to offer help to any patrons that enter and are overwhelmed by the scope of the variety and selection. Promoters are often just inside the entrance to offer tastings. I have visited Luke's a number of times in the hours just before major holidays and sporting events and arrived to a full parking lot, but never spent more than a few minutes in line at checkout. If there is something you can't find, they will see if they can find it for you and if they can't, they'll offer to get it. What more could you ask for from a liquor store? *Additional highlights are deserved for their craft beer selection, which for domestics is sorted by state and region, and for imports is sorted by country and their combined inventory accounts for the entire left quarter of the store. read more

Well, if I was perpetually stuck in the middle of Rockland, I'd probably need the largest selection of liquor this side of Boston. Luke's Liquors has the same idea. If they don't have what you're looking for at this place, then you probably don't need to have a drink that badly. I bought 2 bottles of wine at Luke's a while back that had spoiled, I brought back the 2 half full bottles and they didn't even bat an eyelash, they were happy to let me exchange them. This place is excellent! I go here for my cheap PBR kegs. Nothing like walking into a supermarket of alcohol. I'm sure many yelp fans would agree! Though I have really only bought kegs here (they have a wide selection) I also have browsed their seductive aisles of booze that make my pants slowly get tight as I traverse down each aisle. Only quirky downside to the kegs are the tap rental is 5 dollars which....some places just let you throw down a deposit and you get the full amount back. Also you have to return the tap to the normal shopping area, then you have to leave the building and bring the empty keg to the bottling recycle area which is a 2 minute walk outside down the large side of the building. This kind of makes it awkward depending where you parked haha. Other then that the staff has always been more then friendly, and even one time their credit card machine was on the fritz so they paid me back my tap and keg deposit in cash. SAID IT. woooo! Come here if you're looking for an alcohol that is tough to find, or you want some of the cheapest keg prices around. I was really excited to find Luke's Liquors because it reminded me of my favorite liquor store to find good beer back home in Connecticut. I stopped in here to find some New England brews and wine for the Christmas holiday. The beer selection here was very impressive and included beer from all around New England, New York, and even from as far out as Seattle. On the other hand, some of the shelves were in disarray and had random singles laying around without any indication of where their 6 or 12 packs might be. I did try to cut them some slack since it was the day before Christmas Eve. I subtracted 1 star from my review though for one of the store clerks who quickly brushed me off when I asked where the Harpoon Winter Warmer might be. I then found it in the back at the end of an aisle (there were plenty of cases there). After finding our brews, we moved onto selecting wine for the holidays and found it comforting that they had a separate section for Washington wines. We found familiar brands and reasonable prices for some of our favorite WA wines. All in all, I'd probably stop in here again because of their large selection of microbrews, but hope next time they clean up their stock and train their employees to be more helpful. read more

This place is massive. I agree with P.G., if I were in Rockland for more time than it took to do the job I was doing, I too would need that large an amount of alcohol. I was slightly alarmed at the amount of people I saw in here around 5pm on a weekday... But then again, it's Rockland... I guess?! I found everything I needed in here, and then some, the prices were decent for everything. The lady who rang me up was nice enough and let me give her change so that her change for me wouldn't be obnoxious and take up my entire wallet. She knew what I was doing, which gives her a few extra points. They carry Kools in a box too. This is a point that made my friend's uncle beyond happy. read more

What a fantastic find this place is! Great selection of hard liquor, beers, and wines. Check out the wine room at the back of the store. Staff there is knowledgeable and excellent. I understand why it is in a large shopping plaza but would do just as well as part of Union St as well. Definitely a go to if you have time to look for something or need advice. Do not rule out small stores for the "quick" 30 rack or bottle though. This is like going to Toys R Us. You can't just go in and leave. Too much to see!! read more

I used to love coming to Luke's even before I lived right down the street in Rockland. I have to say, lately, the employees they have are just down right rude. They do not care about the customers at all!! I work in the service industry, so I know exactly how it is!! If you can't say hello when a customer comes up to the register that's pretty awful! What's worse, if a customer says, hello, how are you and you don't reply, then you suck at your job!!! You are literally employed to handle customer service!! If it's to hard for you to say hello or even answer a customer back, then maybe this isn't the right job for you?!? Honestly, going here was the worst experience I have ever had at a liquor store. This is the only that I have written where I felt really deserved a 1/5; consider also I have been to hundreds of liquor stores, restaurants, and establishments where I have dealt with staff. In terms of the store itself -the selection was extensive and the facility was fairly big and clean enough; but the staff was so inexcusably rude it honestly ruined my day. Both me and my partner were honestly pretty shocked about it. I personally will never even consider going back there again. Craft beer section is unbelievable, if you like real ales and lagers etc.... as opposed to the repugnant horse piss that is produced in Boulder, CO and Saint Louis, MO, then Luke's is your new store. Trust me, they stock the best proprietary new crafts, the oldest abbeys, Dubbels, Imperials, Porters and any other funky concoctions. It's Disney World for people with tastebuds. B. Liquor in stock: Solid selection, I don't drink any hard liquor aside from Irish and Scotch Whiskies. Crown Royal is ok too. Prices are for the most part, lower than the corner packies. Prices are NEVER higher than normal. And the sales, are actually sales. Sale examples: 1.75 liter of Bailey's - 21.99 750 ml of Macallan 12 year single malt - 39.99 750 ml of Tullamore Dew 17.99 (1.75 - 29.99) 750 ml of Tullamore 10 year single malt - 29.99 12 pack of Carlsberg Elephant - 12.99 12 pack of Anchor Steam Porter - 12.99 Now to the unfortunate fact that customers will not return to businesses where the employees are smug and in this case, hitting on the 21 year old girl giving out free shots of whatever sugary pomegranate garbage is "hip" now. I politely approached this dude, said "excuse me, could you help me locate a xxxxx Porter?" Pause, looks at girl, points to the beer section and says they're over there. So I walk away and dig through the endless selection and finally see that xxxxx is out of stock. No biggie, except the racist comment he made to "sound cool" for shots girl as he continued to act like a tough guy. His cross to bear though not mine. End game. The moral of the story is using the N or K word in your place of business, not only is ignorant on a social level but reflective of an otherwise good place to go. The irony: Did I mention my friend heard the comment after I walked away? I am mixed race and look almost 100% Irish. My friend did not take too kindly to the WWII joke this buffoon made. And my black wife.... she let this guy have it. I do know his name and will not share it publicly. Please do not ask. If you are a Luke's owner or employee, I will discuss privately. I haven't quite decided whether or not it's a blessing or a curse that Luke's is located so close to me... But if you're looking for a large selection of adult beverages, this is it. Beer, wine, and hard liquor. So why 4 stars? For a store so large there is a rather small selection of refrigerated beer. Some of the aisles are rather narrow so it's best to park your shopping cart elsewhere. If there was a sign or some type of advertisement to let patrons know how they can request Luke's to carry a particular beer, wine, or liquor, it would make it that much better. Very friendly staff. Very impressed with the selection, quite vast! We went looking for a particular hard cider which is not too readily available...they had it. My husband took nearly 2 hours perusing the store! Great selection of beer, wine and alcohol. Prices are good but by no means do they blow the competition out of the water. You can spend an hour in here wandering around looking for what you want to drink. My one complaint is that many of the beers sit on the shelves for sometime and not are as fresh as they could be. Granted many of these are small microbrew and are sold limited places but beer is best enjoyed fresh. I tend to shy away when I see some dust or two bottles of the same beer with different labels. Not that they are bad but I can't be sure of the age. read more

Totally awesome selection! They even have an international section that is organized by country for your convenience.. I was able to find Hitachino Nest Beer made by Kiuchi Brewery Japan!!!! First time I went here was for a wine tasting.... a killer time was had for $5, that's right five bucks! There were about 47 tables, each with 4-7 wines to sample along with appetizers being served as well. You also get a wine glass and a booklet listing every vendor and their displayed wines All displayed wines are discounted for the event as well. I've been to three wine events since and spend an average of $800 restocking my cellar. They have two major wine events per year. One on the first Saturday in May and the second in October. Oh, I almost forgot to mention this place is HUGE and full of anything and everything you need including hard to find wines and liquors. read more

The store is huge with lots to choose from. Nicely organized. I recommend if your in the area. I, however, do not recommend the redemption center. If your even a slightly respectable person please consider going elsewhere. How can you complain about Luke's? It has every kind of beer you want. They keep all the regulars in the fridge, and all the odd ball craft beers and imports out in the store. So if you're looking for something different you will want to pick it up ahead of time to let it chill on ice. I mostly use Luke's for beer. They have all the wine and spirits that you want and need though. It has supermarket style registers so they ring you up quickly, and get you on your way to drinking. If you need to get your Jesus fix, there is a born again Christian church next door in an old K-Mart building! read more

The store is so big you could literally get lost in it. They have just about every beer, liquor and wine imaginable. Huge cooler. Great selection of beers at fair prices. As with any place that stocks a large variety of beer, you have to be sure to check the dates on the bottles, as there will be some expired stuff, but I have found that Luke's has this problem less than some of the competition it seems. I like the layout of the beer sections, it's pretty well organized. They also have a redemption center which is very helpful. Location is a little out of the way, but the selection is good enough to make Luke's a destination for South Shore beer lovers. read more
