Some years ago I wondered into Elli's Wine Cellar and it was the best experience of my life!. The place is inviting and what I call buyer friendly. The layout of the store makes it easy to move around and find what you are looking for without getting overwhelmed by the selections. Elli's friendly and welcoming nature makes you want to stay just for conversation. Everytime I go in there I feel as if I never left the neighborhood. I have learned so much from her and always love her selections and recommendations. Since I found her I have only had 2 bottles of wine that I did not like for myself, but were loved by my guests when I served them. So no loss for either. She has recommended wine for a wine tasting I did 10 years ago and friends still ask about those wine. I make sure to tell friends about Elli's Wine cellar. Her knowledge about wines and the grapes that make them is immeasurable to me and I am so glad I met her. I no longer live in Weymouth but I try to get in there to see her (and buy wine) when I can. I never leave with less than 2 boxes and as I have already stated never disappointed. Life has kept me away in recent years but I am making a trip to see Elli soon. Hopefully I will leave with enough to hold me over until the next time I have a gap in my busy schedule to make the trip to Weymouth. I would love to catch up, say hello, enjoy the conversation, gain more knowledge about my choices and of course to leave with my regular purchase of the best wines I have ever purchased anywhere. They also have neat wine gadgets, gift bags, lottery, cigars and cigs. My favorite thing about Ellie's Wine Cellar is the knowledgeable, friendly service! It looks small from the outside but they have a great selection - including local brews from Weymouth, Scituate, and Hingham. Elli wasn't there when I arrived, but I met her husband who was knowledgeable, polite, and also willing to just let me take it all in. I ended up trying one of the beers he pointed out when he learned that I like Harpoon IPA - it's a new one from Harpoon that just came out - UFO Boarding Pass IPA. Looking forward to giving it a try. There's also a good-sized wine room in the back. If you like craft beer and good wine mixed with knowledgeable service, you should give Elli's a try. read more

Always friendly and helpful. Great selection to choose from whether it be beer or wine. They even have homemade olive oil which may sound odd but given the owners are Greek it'll knock your socks off. If you haven't been, certainly give them a visit. You won't be disappointed. read more

Elli's Wine Cellar is an oasis specialty wine store in the desert of Weymouth packies. It is pleasantly decorated with nice finishes, lighting, and displays. The best part: it's walking distance from my apartment and there is private parking in the back if I'm stopping by on the way home. Elli will always greet and ask if help is needed or if there are any questions when I walk in the store, but then she hovers incessantly until I leave. When I'm looking for something new and different this is very helpful. When I say, "no thank you, I'm just looking" she automatically assumes I will be lifting bottles from under her nose. Seriously, I saw her reflection in the glass doors of the refrigerator watching until I picked something. I'm wearing skinny jeans and carrying a wristlet. Back off, will ya? This is the treatment I get from her and her staff - who tend to be extremely snooty and don't even bother greeting me. Maybe it's different if you're 45 years old and over, but this is the last straw for me. read more

Elli has a great selection of both wine and beer. I enjoy that she tries her products before selling them in her store. The customer service here is great as well, and Elli always greets you with a smile and offers her help when picking out beer or wine. Absolutely love this place. I had the same experience as another reviewer where something was marked wrong and they charged me the higher (non-marked) price so I'm knocking them down a star for that. Legally I thought you were supposed to charge whatever it's tagged, but oh well. Apart from that hiccup, the wine and beer selection are fantastic and they're really nice and helpful. She gets excited for every sale as it seems that she carefully curates all the items stocked on her shelves. Amazing first visit on the night of their Grand Wine Tasting. Friendly smiles, helpful staff and 30 wines to sample...a wonderful time. Store has character and lots of nooks to investigate. No liquor, some beer and a lot of different wines. Discount if you buy six bottles. Will return to refill our wine fridge early in 2014. read more

I love Elli's. The owners are some of the friendliest, kindest, sweetest people you will ever meet. When this place first opened up a few years back I was really looking forward to it as there is not a specialty wine store in the area. Every Friday night they have free wine tastings from 5-8pm with about 4 different kinds of wine. They know their wines and will work with you to help you find what you like. The store is clean and they are constantly bringing in new wines and wine accessories. read more

This store is amazing. I stumbled upon this gem while visiting a friend that lives nearby and still go there from time to time from the city. Their sparkling wine tower is enough to make me happy, but fortunately for the rest of you it doesn't end there. The selection here is primo - from Bud Light to some hard to find beers, there's something for everyone. Not to mention incredible wine for any budget. The owner once picked out a $7 bottle of Sauvignon Blanc that was amazing and that I buy all the time now. I think my favorite part of all is the grand tastings each quarter. There are always at least 3 tables full of awesome wines to try and I hear they also do brew tastings. I also even had a wine-label caricature done one time. Know anyone else that does that? One of the best craft beer selections around! Great atmosphere and everyone was really upbeat and pleasant. Such a nice change of pace from your average packie store in the area. They also offer 10% off cases of wine and 5% off 6 bottles which isn't great but better than nothing. read more

Nice, clean store right on Broad Street. I didn't find the prices high, considering the selection of nice bottles of wine & beer. They carry generic beer & wines too. On the plus they have an extensive collection of Cigars ( our main reason for going here) and they are open late on weekends! The woman owner is very friendly & helpful too. read more

Elli has recommended some fabulous wines (not too expensive either!) and I love that they always have local beers to chose from. I came here regularly for the beer selection, but had an experience today that made me wary. I chose a beer (Shakesbeer Imperial IPA that was clearly labeled with a price) but noticed that it was ringing up at a higher price. I pointed out the discrepancy and she shrugged and said that things the prices aren't always up to date-- she didn't even offer to sell it at the labeled price. I'm not sure it is a good business model to overcharge your customers and hope they don't catch it. I went around the corner to Brady's. read more

I have to disagree with the above post. Yes, the staff is super friendly, this wine shop is immaculate, but they also have a huge selection of wines in any and every price range. They also hold tastings every week! Each time I have gone, I left with 4 or more bottles. Definitely a must on the South Shore. read more
