    Lumberjack Breakfast
    Tom S.

This is one of the best places in Rockland County for breakfast. I don't get here as often as I would like, but every time I leave raving about the delicious food and wonderful service. Today was no different, we can by just after the place opened and we were able to get seated immediately. (sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but given how great this place is, it's worth a few minutes) My daughter had the French Omelet, my wife had the Lumberjack special, and I had the Banana Bread Nutella French toast from the specials menu. These were all beautifully prepared and delicious. My French Toast was hands down, the best I have ever had. The service was perfect, and the eclectic vibe is always a treat. Can't wait to go back.

This is absolutely the cutest cafe I have ever been to! We met the owner while we were there and she was an absolute doll. I just flew in from LA and I was starving! I had to have the Banana Nut Bread French Toast with Bananas and Strawberries.... YUMM! I ate them to fast with my crispy bacon to even take a pic!!!!! The whole vibe in the cafe is so adorable and welcoming! The food is soooo good and the customer service is phenomenal! If you are looking for a great breakfast spot this is your place! I'm definitely coming back for sure!

Two Eggs platter with turkey sausage

Very cute and small cafe , perfect for breakfast or brunch. They have a lot of options on the menu. We went with the simple lumberjack platter and the two egg platter with turkey sausage and no complaints ! Also got a delicious latte and Oj. Can get busy fast since it's a small place but definitely worth it. staff was very friendly. We'll be back for sure.

What a find Lulu's Cafe is! Nestled in a small strip mall in West Nyack Lulu's is a small yet elegant little cafe on West Nyack Road. Eclectic in its decor, it is an excellent restaurant with a great assortment of breakfast and brunch options. Delicious omelettes, sandwiches and salads can be found. The wait staff is fun, courteous and friendly. And food came out of the kitchen quickly and wonderfully prepared. If you are anywhere in West Nyack and don't want to go to the Palisades Mall to get some boring tasteless chain store grub, then Lulu's is for you. Fair warning, it's a small restaurant without reservations so there may be a wait.

Second time here and as others say it's adorable. Food is great, service even better! Had the lumberjack lol this time an egg cream, and cupcake. Didn't eat again for a week.

It was difficult to find as there is a small sign by the driveway leading to the parking lot and restaurant. The building is set in, not by the street, and there was no obvious signage. It looks like a simple house in the parking lot. Upon entering, the room felt quaint and cozy. We were immediately seated as we went during the week and it was quiet. Hubby had the pancakes with sausage and I ordered the omelette. The pancakes were tasty and not dense. The sausages were unfortunately 3 small breakfast sausages. For an additional $4, 2 fat sausages would have been nice. My omelette was good but I don't know if I would call it fluffy. The eggs were flat and the only "fluffy" part maybe that the inside of the omelette was slightly undone. Coffee was nice and rich. I gave this place 4 stars because there was nothing wrong and the food was good. Although this place isn't mind blowing, I think if I lived here it would be a nice regular place for brunch. Definitely a place to try for locals.

I was then warmly welcomed with the most sunny smile by Stephanie who offered to seat me right away. Since I wanted take out instead, she provided me with a menu and pointed out wonderful options and made great suggestions. I decided on the Turkey chili which seemed like a solid choice. While I was waiting I was introduced to the chef, Christopher and the owner, Ramona. Both Christopher and Ramona were a joy to talk to and despite being busy, were kind enough to spend a little time with me! My meal was prepared and packaged in hardly any time at all and leaving actually felt like I was leaving home! Honestly, it's hard to find such wonderful family values and it was a short but wonderful experience. My turkey chili was rich and delicious and hit the spot. Do yourself a favor soon, take a ride over to Ramona's in West Nyack and try out some of the home cooked with care treats on their menu. Look for Stephanie's million dollar smile! Highly highly recommend.

We were chatting with Vanessa before realizing she would be singing later, and wow--she has a beautiful voice and sang some favorites like "Just the Two of Us." We ordered the fried whiting over a waffle, fried chicken with collard greens and fried okra, and shrimp and grits with a pecan coating. Portions were huge, so we took plenty home for our group of three adults and a toddler. Everything was slightly spicy, super crispy, and absolutely delicious. A small but much-appreciated touch: they brought our 2-year-old ice water with a lid without us even asking. The warm sweet potato cornbread muffins were amazing--we liked them so much we ordered some to take home. We'll definitely be back!

The chicken looked good but I only ate 1/2 piece of the wing. (Still have me a horrible headache on the way home). Place is small but that's the least of their problems. Entire staff primarily speaks Spanish and aren't properly trained enough to even know how to take an order at your table. The poor girl tried hard to try to write down our simple order but the language barrier made it hard for her to type our order into the system. She returned to the table 5x to explain the various mistakes she made trying to put the order in. As I stood near the bar waiting to put my OWN drink order in, the young confused waitress ran over to tell me that the kitchen was out of collard greens. I smoked and substituted it for something else. 10 minutes later she arrives with my oversalted chicken and collard greens. Maybe wait a few years and try them, if they happen to stay open by some miracle.

This time I came in with my parents after my wife kept raving about the Dominican chimi and the grilled chicken. We came specifically to try those and, as usual, left completely satisfied. I quickly consulted The Yelp and found this nice sit-down place, so we came on over and enjoyed a restaurant to ourselves on a Saturday afternoon. (I won't lie - "Ixchel Bakery" caught my eye first for the name alone - but I haven't checked that out yet; we were there for lunch, not dessert.) What caught me first is that the logo sign inside is exactly what Yelp events want. I told them about potentially hosting Yelp events in the future... Anyway, the menu is straight Dominican Republic, and I enjoyed comparing the similarities and differences to my local Honduran restaurant. Some very authentic dishes on the menu here, lovingly and authenticly prepared. We started with a pair of empanadas for appetizer, the res and the pollo y queso. I'm an empanada snob but these have a nice balance of ingredients and flavors, good size for the price. While the mondongo intrigued me, I went with the equally intriguing Yaroa, a Dominican street food with meat and cheese on a bed of green plantains (or fries, if you prefer), topped with ketchup and white sauce. I'm not a ketchup person, but I wanted the dish exactly as it comes, and that's good because it tasted excellent as it came. And it arrived right as we finished the empanadas. The staff were very friendly, but a bit focused on kitchen operations; I did have to flag someone down at one point for a water refill. So that is the one imperfection in an otherwise wonderful experience, and not worth docking a star over. I would absolutely come back here again. The owner was talking potential redecoration, I was talking about trying other dishes - so there are convenient excuses moving forward. :)
