Came here with my boyfriend last night. First they start you with complimentary bread that comes with an herbed butter and a delicious garlic oil that I couldn't get enough of. We both got the skirt steak with chimichurri and it was cooked exactly how we liked. He got a side of fries with his that came out perfectly crispy. He did say the fries could of used a little seasoning. I got maduros with mine and they were also great. Service was excellent and accommodating. The ambiance was also nice. Early dinner here on a Saturday and the place was empty. Place is nicely decorated and clean. The food was outstanding. We ordered the coconut shrimp, shrimp scampi, and the chicken breast stuffed with shrimp and crab meat. We ordered the banana bread for dessert. And WOW just WOW! Everything was simply delicious. And the staff were very attentive and super nice. I really hope this place gets the recognition it deserves and that people actually come here more often. Since moving to Rockland from Manhattan, I've had a hard time finding restaurants worth eating at. And no one in Rockland gives food reviews so it's hard to find a good restaurant. I tried to come back with friends, but we had to leave because the bartender said she doesn't take out-of-state IDs (??) even though everyone with us was 25+ and she was super short about it. Beautiful ambiance. Separate bar area from dining room. There were only about three tables for dinner and it was nearly impossible to find our server. It took over 15 minutes just to get our drinks back after they were ordered. Waitress said that the menu was wrong and that one of the entrees had arugula on it so she wasn't entitled to a salad, even though the menu clearly states that all were accompanied with a garden salad (that was rather small on a large plate). I asked for no potatoes with my stuffed shrimp but extra veggies and came plated with potatoes. Waitress kindly brought extra vegetables. Overall, the food was mid and I don't think I would return. read more

i was really excited to try this new place based on some of the photos I saw online but I ended up being a little disappointed. since they are new, I will cut them some slack but the service was slow. took us about 2.5 hours to have dinner. the menu is great but honestly the food is just okay. the interior is really nice and the bar looks like a fun place to hang out for drinks after work. not sure if I will give this place another try. read more

I've been coming here for months -- it used to be an enjoyable experience for drinks and apps. I was recently here for a dinner with a large group. I understand it was a busy evening and our waitress was as kind and accommodating as possible but everyone else we spoke to seem to be annoyed. From the bartender to the man assisting our waitress, they would roll their eyes when we asked for a drink or order, etc. It felt as if they were miserable working let alone dealing with patrons. The food being delicious almost made up for it, but the whole experience was offputting. read more

Wonderful atmosphere with an attentive wait staff. We have eaten dinner there half a dozen times and have never been disappointed with the taste and freshness of appetizers and mains. Had an awesome dinner at Sage Bar and Grill the other night. The vibe was super chill but still felt a little upscale--great for a date night or just grabbing a nice meal with friends. Service was on point--everyone was friendly and made sure we were taken care of without hovering, (especially the hostess and Pablo). Food came out quick and everything we ordered was seriously good. I had the arancini's and the clams oreganata, and it was cooked just right, super flavorful. My partner got one of the specials, (tropical tuna tartare), and was equally impressed! Also, shoutout to the bar--the cocktails were legit, Lucy is spectacular! Creative without being too out there, and you could actually taste the quality. Overall, it's one of those places you're glad you stumbled on. Good food, good drinks, solid atmosphere. Will 100% be back soon! read more

My wife and I, along with another couple, had dinner at Sage Bar and Grille last night, and we were thoroughly impressed. It was our first visit, and everything--from the food to the ambiance--exceeded expectations. The evening started off strong with appetizers: the shrimp tacos were bursting with flavor, and our friends thoroughly enjoyed the crabcakes. For mains, my wife had the coconut-crusted halibut special, which was cooked to perfection--crispy on the outside, tender and flaky inside. I went with the Chicken Di Parma, which came with Penne in a rich vodka sauce, and it was equally fantastic. We ended the meal on a high note with a homemade chocolate espresso mousse cup, which was amazing. Our server was attentive and professional, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. A special shoutout to Josh, the owner, who went above and beyond--stopping by our table multiple times and even treating us to complimentary after-dinner drinks. His warm hospitality made a lasting impression. We're always on the lookout for standout dining experiences in Rockland and northern NJ, and Sage Bar and Grille has definitely earned a spot in our regular rotation. Highly recommended! read more

We ordered take away last night, one of the dishes was ordered with the spring mix as a side, the receipt says spring mix. When I returned home the dish had french fries. The restaurant wasn't busy. Why should it take 15 minutes to have a waitress come over and then another 15 minutes to get a soda??? They also take a long time to refill water and only give out small glasses for it. Restrooms: while clean and new my main and probably only complaint is that they have sub par toilet paper. But for me this is something that should be a priority is a higher end restaurant. Atmosphere: This particular location has always struggled with the atmosphere, this iteration Is no different. The main room carries conversations from other diners and the glass display sports games and movies from the bar giving a cheep feel despite the decor and wine display trying to emphasize a classy feeling. Made in the shade Special: the drink was light and refreshing, though it felt diluted. Grilled Octopus Special: This was one of the few dishes I did like but for its price it's not worth it. The octopus was good but had no char and was difficult to cut with the butter knife they expect you to eat with. The pesto sauce was delicious except for the olives, while they offered a nice color contrast they completely overpower any other piece you eat with it. The cauliflower was nice and well paired. Salad: Despite the fact the salad was free it is not worth eating. One came out hot as if it was sitting under a headlamp and the other was so full of vinaigrette it caused me to choke. It added nothing to the experience aside from discomfort. Cajun swordfish bruschetta: Each aspect of this dish was underwhelming. However when taken as a whole they actually complemented flavors very nicely. Still pricy but not as bad for the quality. Cream brûlée: one of the thickest sugar crust I have ever had. It made it difficult to eat and the lack of real vanilla bean does not feel like a higher end establishment. Cappuccino: presented nicely but lacked any real flavor and the glass maid it hard to mix. Price: For two people splitting all but the entrée the meal was over $100 personally for the quality of the food and experience it's not worth it in my opinion. read more

Pleasantly Surprised ! My Fiancé and I really enjoyed this place and will be back in the near future! It was a last minute reservation to come have dinner here on New Year's Eve and I must say we were both really blown away by the food, the ambiance, and the hospitality. Our server was polite and extremely attentive, we later found out our server was the owner of the restaurant. Such a nice guy, cooks incredible food and an extremely dedicated worker . We ordered the muscles which came with these super thin French fries, the muscle / fries combo was Brilliant ! For an entree I went with what our server recommended. I had the chicken parm w/ vodka sauce. IT WAS SO DAMN GOOD!! My fiancé had seafood fried diablo which he really enjoyed as well. For Dessert we ordered Crème Brule and sampled the house made coquito! Let's talk about that "Coquito" I mean WOAH! I highly recommend you try ( if available). To sum it up , Everything was tasty, well plated, and well worth the reservation. Small Town Hospitality, Big City Food I was in town from Los Angeles, visiting my family and we had a group dinner at Sage. My parents (who are in their 80's) had been for lunch a few weeks earlier and the owner, Josh, came out and greeted them like old friends. We had a complicated group of picky eaters and everyone found something they liked from the very varied menu. Everything was delicious and cooked exactly as we requested. I have never been to a place where they charge you for olives in your dirty martini. $5 up charge for blue cheese olives, $3 up charge for regular olives. what's next? up charge for Parmesan cheese on my pasta?
