So here's the thing. Been here before and loved it so we went back for a birthday treat! They were busy like always but it took forever to get a cup of coffee. Meanwhile we saw our waitress at the table next to us not once but twice filling up the other tables drinks. We ordered two desserts to splurge for the celebration and the German chocolate cake was dry. The flavor was still there but it was a dry cake which was disappointing. The other white chocolate cake (and the name escapes me so forgive me) but it was amazing. It tasted like an Oreo ball in cake form. I love the idea of a dessert bar and had been wanting to try LuLu's for a while but it didn't quite live up to our hopes. We arrived mid-afternoon on a Sunday while it was very quiet. The place definitely has more a dive-bar feeling than I was expecting. Our waiter was very nice and we were quickly greeted and were able to place our orders with no issues. We only ordered a slice of the chocolate chip cheesecake and the strawberry suspension cake that I had eyed in the case up front. Then we waited. Granted, several more parties did start filling up the space but it took nearly 30 mins for the two slices of cake to make it to our table which was a little confusing considering both items were already made and in the case. I really liked the chocolate chip cheesecake and definitely recommend if you're not afraid of sweets- my husband thought it was too rich. I was pretty disappointed with the strawberry suspension cake though, there really wasn't much flavor- maybe it's because it's not strawberry season, but it just wasn't my thing. So the food is very very good, which is why they get 3 stars. If I was basing this off service alone it'd be a lower score. But the cheesecake is so good. However. In the city of hospitality, I did not experience good hospitality here. They were excruciatingly slow when all I wanted was a slice of cheesecake that was already made... I was curious why it took so long and asked the cashier who gave me a snarky response and wouldn't take my order after and walked away to do "other tasks" as he put it. And skipped me and took the order from the girl behind me. Rude. Also there were empty tables but were told we couldn't sit. My boyfriends back hurt and he just wanted to sit for a minute and was told he couldn't and they didn't care about his back in pain. Not impressed by the service. At all. The hostess left a bad aftertaste for our decision to have dessert here. When we arrived, the place was nearly empty with only two tables occupied. She sat us at table 2 right up against the other party of four, which sits almost into the hallway leading to the bathrooms. Why crowd with so much room? And why such an ugly location. I asked her if we can have any of these other tables, she said she had to keep these other tables open for parties of 4. She did relent and had us sit at a different table. By the time we left, every other larger table was occupied by 2 and not once did we see try to seat them in the hallway corner like she did with us. We can't help but wonder why she would do that, is it because we're the only super minority there? Maybe that's a stretch if I'm being really open minded but still, not cool. While visiting Savannah this past week, we were looking for something sweet to finish off our first night in the town. Of course, I went to my Yelp app to search nearby places for desserts. The search brought up several places that were highly rated and all opened surprisingly late! It was already 9pm, so I am glad we had multiple options! After perusing the reviews for a few different places, we decided on Lulu's Chocolate Bar. After much circling around to find parking, we made it! It was self-seat, so we grabbed a table. Server greeted us promptly and gave us menus and took drink orders. Since our drive into Savannah took double the amount of time due to traffic, I opted for a beer with my dessert :) So, along with my Stella Artois, I had Lulu's Signature Strawberry Suspension Cake, which I had read a lot about in various reviews. Super delish! Just what I was looking for. Another thing I loved about this place is the atmosphere. The decor was warm and relaxing and they had a mix of music playing, which was awesome hearing some songs from the 90s. This is definitely a place I will visit again next time I am in Savannah! read more

4 stars for a fun experience and yummy desserts! I've heard some good things about Lulu's through fellow Yelpers, but also from people in Savannah since arriving. I knew we had to check it out! We came here on New Year's Eve after having an early dinner at another restaurant, I think our tastebuds needed something sweet. Before rushing over, I noticed I could make a reservation through Yelp app on my phone, which I'm glad I did because it was a bit of a wait even at 8:30pm and we had a large party. The atmosphere inside was excellent and fun for New Year's, they had many unique items on the menu including speciality cocktails and cake flavors of the day. Lulu's also has a cake bakery, where you can pickup whole cakes, cheesecakes, pies and monster brownies, which is a nice option. Overall, I really enjoyed myself! In search of dessert after dinner we came across Lulu's on Yelp and had to check it out. The display case of desserts immediately gets you as you walk through the front door and we were quickly greeted by staff. We chose to sit at the bar which ended up being a great spot to watch a staff plate all of the desserts that were coming out with designs in chocolate. There is no doubt they are talented! Along with taking a look at the dessert case, there is an extensive menu of dessert martinis and all of the cakes, cheesecakes, and other sweet treats you can imagine. Their creme brulee was one of the first items that we noticed in the display case and the creme brulee lovers that we are, we quickly set our mind on the creme brulee sampler which was an excellent value and way to try a variety of flavors. We had just enough room from dinner to try dessert but decided to skip on the drinks. The sampler was served with a vanilla bean, white chocolate raspberry, and chocolate espresso. All three were incredible and it was hard to select a favorite. The classic vanilla bean was well done and had a really good flavor. I wasn't sure if I would like the chocolate espresso and I'm not a huge espresso fan but the chocolate came through much stronger and I thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate rendition of the classic treat. The white chocolate raspberry had rasberry pieces that were tart but offset by the sweetness of the white chocolate and was also very good. You can't go wrong with the creme brulee sampler but it's a good thing our hotel is nearby because we plan to go back to try other sweet treats and maybe a drink! Lulu's has been one of my favorites for years. The extensive dessert martini list and rotating cakes and pies and such never gets old! I also love that they play loud music that gets you pumped up on the weekends. The staff seem artsy and more open-minded which is my kinda place. A lot of tourists come here as do locals. Their lemon drop martini and key-lime pie martini are really delish, especially for citrus lovers like me. I also recently tried the chocolate covered orange martini which is to die for, and so fun! On my last visit, we sat at the bar and I tried the caramel and chocolate torte which was a lot more chocolatey and gooey caramel than expected! It also had gold edible glitter on top! Update: I went back today with a couple of friends - it's the holidays, why not?- and our server was obviously ignoring our table. We waited and waited. I try to get her attention and she made every attempt to ignore us. It wasn't until I got up to get a to go box myself that she finally said something to me. I heard servers do this when they think you under tip but I typically don't because I know what its like to be a server so I'm baffled by this behavior. Update 2: Thanks Janine for your response! Have you ever wondered was heaven was like? I picture heaven as a place wherr you could get unlimited desserts from Lulu's. Because they are to die for! The team there were also the nicest, hardest working people on that street. Even though they are only doing take out, except for two 2 top tables outside, they managed to get our family of 4 into one of those tables. We ordered the big cookie slice, the caramel cashew brownie, and the white chocolate, chocolate chip cheesecake. Both the brownie and the cookie slice were yummy, rich, and traditionally delicious. The cheesecake was out of this world. Cheesecake Factory doesnt hold a candle to Lulu's. The best part was how reasonably priced they are for all their heavenly desserts. That strawberry suspension cake? I think that's what it's called... Ick!! Yelp, you steered me wrong with that one. I wasted my dessert on a freezing cold and yucky cake that was in the refrigerator for far too long. The cake itself was that gross cakey texture a cake in the fridge adopts when that happens. No thank you. Would have been nice if the waitress asked why the suspension cake remained untouched, but she clearly didn't give a damn. She ignored us for most of the time, even though the place was relatively empty. Now your chocolate mousse on the other hand that my friend got? Ho-lee-schitt. If I'd ordered that, I would have given you a 5 star rating. My one spoonful was divine. That's why you get a 3 star instead of a 2 star review from me. We came here during a torrential downpour. After a somewhat disappointing dinner, we walked into Lulu's Chocolate Bar looking for dessert, based on a recommendation from our Foody Tour earlier that day. We looked over the display case at the desserts. $8 for a slice of cake? Ouch. We decided to give it a go anyway. The sign said to seat ourselves, so we sat ourselves away from the large table/crowd that was seated near the front door. We started to review the menu. We quickly noticed the martinis were above the $10 mark, too. Yikes. Dessert was turning out to be more expensive than our pricey dinner. Still, we stayed and looked over the menu. A server came up and asked which party we were with. We looked at her, puzzled. She then informed us that all the tables in the area in which we were seated were reserved. Huh. I guess the non-existent reserved signs should have given us a clue? She invited us to sit at the tiny, dirty white sofa near the loud, large crowd already gathered at the front of the place, or at the small table by the front door where we could enjoy the 40 degree breezes as people opened and closed the door. We chose option 3, which was neither and went to Starbucks instead. I hope their "reserved" tables showed up. read more

OK, so I've been here a few times ....enough to write a legit review. Super cute & very cozy chill spot. Looking for a place to chill with friends or even a nice night cap? This is your spot! Now this place is small so it can get extremely packed very quickly. Definitely a mid twenties to mid thirties crowd & the music reflects it. They don't take reservations but they do honor some app that allows you to check in & place your name on a wait sheet as if you're physically in line. I personally haven't used this app so I'd call to get more info about it. The dessert drinks are very good! They offer premium liqueurs & your taste buds can tell. A nice selection of after dinner martinis, wine, & coffees. The desserts here are just as good if not better. Decadent delectable sweets! A lot of items sell out quickly so if you see something you like....Order it! The servers & bartenders are usually nice & knowledgeable about the menu. Everyone loves Lulus! This is a unique establishment that services desserts and beverages perfect for any date or night cap. The atmosphere is chill and romantic with a perfect ambience. A great spot for dessert! I ordered a few things...my favorite items were the Pumpkin Spice Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and the Frozen Mousse. The cake had just the right amount of sweetness and I was given a nice, decent portion to enjoy. I can't even begin to say enough good things about Lulu's! My evening there was defiantly the highlight of my Savannah vacation. The bar itself is very modern, but due to the warm lighting doesn't feel stale. Their was an ample amount of street parking available even though it was a Friday night. However, actually getting seated was not nearly as easy. My friend Kate and I ended up taking seats at the bar, which we had preferred not to, but ended up chatting with the friendly bartenders throughout the night. To cut to the chase-the food and drinks were AMAZING! The waitstaff were nice enough to give us suggestions as the array of dessert items was quite overwhelming. But after much debate, I ordered the triple layer chocolate cake while Kate had the chocolate caramel tart. I must say, I was almost overwhelmed by the richness of the chocolate...almost!
