Based on a referral, I contracted Warrior Landscaping to do a small job. All I wanted them to do…read morewas remulch, install some edging, and trim a few trees and bushes. They estimated that it would take 2-3 days. It ended up taking over two months and cost about twice what they estimated. They underestimated the amount of materials (mulch and edging), as well as the labor. Granted, it rained a lot during the period of performance, but it still shouldn't have taken over two months! There was very little attention to detail (could be because the owner wasn't around because his wife was due to give birth). They left mulch directly on the lawn (not on a tarp) prior to transferring it to the beds. What resulted was a lot of mulch left on the grass which ended up killing portions of it. They were supposed to lay the fabric on the beds and then put the mulch on top. They evidently didn't have enough fabric, because there were a lot of gaps that allowed the weeds to poke through. I could have overlooked a lot of this, but about a month after they finished, I got a big surprise. I had been out of town and working odd hours, so I didn't pay much attention to my sprinkler system. One morning I noticed that one of the sprinkler heads was not working. I discovered that they had installed the edging directly on top of a sprinkler head - and that wasn't the only one. I had my sprinkler service company come out and check the entire system - there were several broken heads located next to the edging. The system had been serviced about a month before the landscaping, so the only plausible explanation was that they were broken during the landscaping job. I was still in for another surprise when I got my water bill. It was about $100 more than expected and then I received a notice from the water company that I might have a leak. I spoke with them and they said the high reading was probably attributable to the broken sprinkler heads. I contacted Warrior Landscaping to tell them about the broken sprinkler heads and the water issue. They apologized but said that I should have notifed them when I discovered the issue so they could have addressed and/or rectified the matter. Unfortunately, I didn't trust them to handle the matter quickly or resolve it to my satisfaction, so it ended up costing me more. I'm a military veteran and liked the fact that the company is veteran owned and operated. I really wanted to be happy with their work but, unfortunately, I cannot recommend them.

However...what we were not so happy with was the artificial turf installation which came out a bit wavy in one area and didn't seem to be stapled down well along the edges in places. Also had to ask for warranty paperwork for the turf. Pioneer sand and gravel is where he bought our turf from and they have a 12 year warranty on it. (I'm sure it's pro-rated). Plus he bought turf that now the manufacturer supposedly doesn't even make anymore. Pioneer backs it though so they better replace it if we ever have issues on quality! Not sure if he knew this and got a sweet wholesale deal on the turf and didn't pass any savings to me or not- - guess we'll never know. They were also supposed to come back and repair a place in the turf that they sat a hot leaf blower on that kind of melted the turf but haven't seen them. Also really not happy with the fact that I told Don 3x that I wanted the yard graded the same from one end of the yard to the retaining wall on the other side which didn't happen. Don was not there at the very end of the project to ensure we were happy with the job. Decided just not to fight to get them back to do what I asked to begin with. In the end, I did the rest of what I asked him to do myself, plus install more turf, and at around a savings of $10k! (He gave another estimate of what it would cost to do what I originally asked to begin with, (minus more turf), which ended up being over $13k more). My advice- get at least 3-4 different estimates on any landscape work and don't sign any contract unless you list what you want in exact detail!

Their work is beautiful and their plants hold up and look fabulous year after year. But initially I was cowed by the expense. We did a lot of the landscaping ourselves to save money. Then it was time to update and upgrade my yard. I saw the work other companies had done and even had a friend who ended up calling Pro Landscaping to re-do the work a less expensive company had done for them. I had Pro Landscaping come do a quote for me. The owner himself came and I loved that it is a small business that he takes personal pride in. He listened carefully to my ideas and made some great suggestions where I had trouble envisioning the results. Of course when the quote came in it was expensive. Landscaping is hard, expensive work. Pro Landscaping was very sensitive to my needs and helped budget and prioritize the work. My yard is amazing! His team is clean, efficient, and thorough. However, the guys missed 3 dead limbs when they cut the limbs back in Nov. 2023 and I been have been calling and texting Carl since June 2024 ( had to make sure the 3 limbs were dead) to come trim up the limbs his guys missed. I have sent out at least 4 texts and 3 phone calls and Carl has said he would come by 2 times but not connected on the other communications. I guess Carl has enough other business to not be concerned with finishing one job completely.

Ultimately, I requested a referral from our lawn care company, Integrated Lawn & Tree Care. I was referred to Devon for this 2020 season and we have had no issues at all. We have been very pleased with the lawn maintenance services provided by Devon and his crew. They strive to provide services as requested by the homeowner in addition to making suggestions to improve the property. Devon came with the crew the first couple of times to ensure that our specific mowing requests were met. Our requests were met then and continued to be met on a weekly basis throughout the season. Just like it should be. ON TIME. JOB COMPLETED WITH INTEGRITY. HAPPY HOMEOWNER. The issue of alternating directions was a non-starter with this crew because it was standard practice. Devon is a really good guy. His business stays quite busy and is usually completely booked throughout the mowing season. He is responsive to texts and/or emails. The backyard was overgrown, uneven, had poor drainage, and a huge dead tree. An overwhelming eyesore was a huge, non working waterfall/fishpond. After speaking with Nick we knew we could trust him to make things right. He fixed all the structural issues, completely dismantled the water feature, then designed and built us the most awesome fire pit and paver patio. He also installed turf in part of the yard so our granddaughters have a clean and safe place to play when they visit. The upper yard is leveled and ready for a future swing set/gym! Nick is a meticulous worker and true craftsman, with a phenomenal work ethic and great personality. He responds immediately by phone or text and worked long hours to get the job done. We had several deliveries of rock, stone, and sand during the project. Nick was very respectful of the neighborhood and everything was immediately moved to the back yard.
