I had Lumby Concrete put in about 880sf of concrete in my back yard and 50sf at my front door. Travis really cares about concrete and takes pride in his work. He is definitely more of an old school contractor, which for me is preferred. He is the one answering the calls, coming out for the bid and is leading the pours and finishes. For me dealing with so many contractors it's nice when you are not routed through dispatchers and given a 5 hour window for a bid. Travis was always on time for bids and the project and wasted no time getting right to it when he came on site. I had 4 other bids for concrete, and Travis was the most knowledgeable and attentive to details by far. He brought up potential issues that he had with my plan and state of the yard, which other contractors didn't mention and I was able to rectify them before he started work. Some people might find that frustrating but I find it a testament to the quality he is committed to leaving behind which is exceedingly rare with contract work. For the actual finished concrete: I'm in awe of the quality and consistency he laid. The concrete is so perfectly sloped, grated and mated against the house and old slabs that when I hose it off it just beads right off completely opposite the house. Cleaning this new concrete is going to be a breeze and I'm excited to enjoy it. I didn't expect the concrete itself to be the cornerstone in the yard, but it is truly a functioning work of art now. The photos attached are after 3 months and everything loo Value: His cost was very reasonable. He was not the cheapest bid but he was certainly not the most expensive. He even put extra material in his invoicing he wasn't sure he would need, and when he ended up not needing that material he removed it from the final bill. We hired Lumby Concrete in December 2023 to pour a new parking pad, replace a cracked section of our driveway, pour new front steps, and a pathway around the side of our house to match up with some pavers in the backyard. Prior to work starting, Travis came out to look at the site and take measurements. He explained the process, answered all of our questions, and offered suggestions when we weren't sure what the best option was. He also sent over an estimate afterward. Pricing was more than fair for the work we were having done. The demo and pouring of new concrete took 5 days. The crew showed up on time every day and the site was cleaned up daily. Travis would call at the end of the day to let me know what had been completed and what they would be working on the next day, which I really appreciated. The whole crew was very courteous and made sure no vehicles or debris were in the way for our neighbors. We are so happy with how everything turned out. We've even had several neighbors (unsolicited) tell us how nice everything looks. 11/10. I would highly recommend Lumby Concrete. I reached out to Lumby concrete for an estimate on building a complicated patio (engineering issues, drainage issues, existing structure etc). I spoke with Travis, and he asked me to send some pictures ahead of time and some measurements so that he could at least give me some preliminary information before someone was able to come out and see it firsthand. This was very helpful, with everyone being so busy, that I could get some questions answered quickly without having to wait several weeks. All I can say is that if you are looking for someone to do concrete work, stop scrolling and just pick them rarely have I encountered a company with the level of integrity and helpfulness. We were looking to add on a side driveway to help put an end to the 3-car shuffle now that our teenage daughter is driving. Travis came out a couple times to take measurements and make sure the work was spec'ed to my satisfaction. I had an estimate within a couple days. He helped draw up the plan that I could submit to the HOA as well (after I provided my deposit of course). We scheduled about 1.5 months in advance and Travis communicated the entire time with updates and other information. Excellent job...AND THEN SOME We selected Lumby Concrete--largely due to the high percentage of 5-star Yelp reviews--to do a demolition/new install of our front walkway, and they provided excellent service from start to finish, but there's more to the story... I've found that you can often separate out the 5-star contractors more from the follow-up than from the initial job,, and Travis Lumby delivered on both counts. After they finished the job I noticed some of our landscape lights, which were fine before their work, weren't lighting. Not entirely their fault, as our wiring had to be moved during their job, is old, and doesn't necessarily run as would be expected. I contacted Travis about that and he responded quickly, spending ~2 hours re-wiring the nonfunctioning lights to be sure they lit up as they had before the concrete work. That's what a responsible contractor does, so good on him! read more
