The ACTUAL best. Hands down no question about it. I have had the pleasure of working with these insanely talented women for about 5 years now as the owner of Events by Rebecca and a wedding planner myself. However this time around I got to be the client after I hired them for my very own wedding this month. Of course, client is SO not the right word. These ladies quickly make you feel like you're their best friend in the whole wide world. Are you like me and nervous about being in front of the camera? Welp, look no further. I have NEVER felt more comfortable being photographed literally all day. PLUS engagement photos!! And it's all thanks to Lindsay and Mandy, they made my now husband just as comfortable too - and managed to get some INSANELY good photos of us even tho he was SO DONE taking pics (can I get an amen from any ladies out there dealing with guys ‍) Selecting your photographer is such a personal decision. It's not just someone to snap a couple photos of you and your friends/family so you don't have to. It's SO MUCH MORE. It's a finesse, an art form, that takes years of experience to master. It's an understanding of your quirks, what really makes your eyes smile, your chemistry - what works for a good photo of you and what doesn't. It's seeing the shot before they take it and making sure to snap it just right, in the right light, at the right angel with the right lense. It's crafting a timeline BASED OFF THE SUN. Yep I said that right - they will make your timeline based on all they know about indoor vs. outdoor lighting, time of day (morning vs. evening light) etc. THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU. And it's RIDICULOUSLY FUN!!! I've never felt more like a superstar in my life haha! Photography is so important - not just in weddings but in all events. It's the one lasting piece of the day outside of your own memories. It's worth the investment to pick someone who... gets it. Who works their a** of for it to be everything you didn't even know you wanted. Who makes you cry with the delivery of the most breathtakingly gorgeous photos you have ever laid eyes on. Stunning photos, countless laughs, and a newfound sense of being comfortable in my skin - and dare I say, feeling beautiful. That was my experience with Lindsay and Mandy. I have never been too comfortable in front of the camera, but with them, it was very different. My husband and I were not too keen on taking engagement photos and when we first considered wedding photographers, I initially thought cheap, cheap, cheap! I wanted to save money for a honeymoon, and I just didn't think it would be a worthwhile investment. After looking at portfolios and comparing work, I immediately knew we had to go with Lumi. Seeing their work, hearing the passion, and spending time with them made me immediately understand that every dollar spent would be worth it. (it's been 8+ years and every time I see our photos I am grateful we went with them!!!). They captured all the magic and all the real that is a wedding. We are so fortunate to choose to go ahead with engagement photos and those were absolutely incredible. (We had family friends that could have sworn they were magazine photos!) I felt so incredibly comfortable with them and they made me feel so special that I even chose to do a boudoir shoot as a surprise and I cannot recommend that enough to someone who wants to feel beautiful, have a fantastic experience, and have images that document that beauty that we all have on the inside. We happened to find Lumi through one of our bridesmaids who had used them for her wedding. At first, I was a little skeptical. We live in the bay area so I was sure we could find someone closer... but boy, I am SO happy my Wife stuck to her guns and made me try them out. LUMI is AMAZING! First, the people, Linds and Mandi are just the best humans out there. So chill and fun to work with, but second, they know what they're doing! We already have some of our engagement photos and a handful of wedding photos, and oh my gosh they are stunning. Their vision and understanding of photography is amazing. My bridemaids who lived on the east coast even said they wanted LUMI for their wedding that are that good (at a reasonable price!). I can't recommend Lumi enough! read more

Where do I even begin!? We weren't even sure where we were getting married when we started our photography research. We looked at Bay Area photographers, Southern California, and everywhere in between. No one compared to them. We eventually knew we were going to get married in or near our hometown of Sacramento, and we found LUMI through yelp! They didn't have too many reviews but the pictures we saw of their work amazed us! My husband met with Lindsay and they looped me in on a phone call. I could tell by the tone of my husbands voice he liked her. I was sold. We love how clean their work is and how much it captures people's emotions. We aren't in to "epic" shots on a cliff side with my veil blowing in the wind, we wanted to capture our wedding day, our faces, and the emotion of the day, they were our gals! We hadn't thought about doing engagement photos but they were included in the price and they offered to come down to us in Carmel! Let me just say that's when I really fell in love with these two! I feel so awkward getting my picture taken and they were so amazing!! We started in our house and cracked open some wine and whiskey to share. Nothing like a little liquid courage. We felt so comfortable with them, it was like having friends over. By the end of the evening I didn't want them to leave and knew we made the best decision possible. They are so easy to communicate with throughout the whole wedding planning process and make it so easy and so fun! The day of our wedding it just felt like I had two more friends hanging out with me in our hotel room. They were on the more expensive end of all the photographers we looked at but THEY ARE WORTH IT! Oh my god I cannot even tell you how much we are obsessed with our photos! We completely eliminated the videographer to make room in our budget for them, SO WORTH IT! I don't even care that we don't have a video the pictures are that good. I have nothing but amazing things to say about these two, everyone at the wedding wanted their information for future weddings, family photos, etc. I feel so lucky to have found them and to call them our friends. My husband I found LUMI through Beatnik Studios. They are listed as a preferred photographer when you book the venue. They were the first and only photographers we met with because we just knew they were a perfect match. They made us feel comfortable, calm and I felt that they really listened to what I was asking for. I wanted real photos that showed true happiness and love. They went above and beyond our expectations. I recommend doing the engagement shoot with them, it helps you get to know them, and helps them get to know you. It also helps with getting comfortable in front of the camera. I'll be completely honest, I don't like taking photos so this was an adjustment for me. By the end of the engagement shoot I totally let loose and finally started to feel like myself and normal. On the day of the wedding, they were fantastic! We had so many relatives and friends raving about our photographers. They were so fun and happy to be there! It really felt like they were part of the wedding and not just photographers. But besides them fitting in with our family and friends they did an amazing job! I highly recommend LUMI photography for any occasion. We actually found them through Beatnik Studios. They're the in-house photographers. Initially wanted to do the traditional wedding through Beatnik Studios but...we went through our guest list and lets just say...not enough people would come. So financially it just didn't make sense to do that (Side note: would totally recommend getting married there tho! Such a pretty contemporary space that has a unique feel to it. Also, great people there too!). Back to LUMI Photography...They're the best! We had them shoot our (after) elopement. Lindsay and Mandy did everything they could to work with us and made the whole process so painless and straightforward. My husband and I are super awkward and pretty much hate taking pictures. With these ladies though...we had such a blast! We were laughing and joking the entire time. I can't fully articulate how much I love their work and how wonderful our pictures came out! My husband and I were married a month ago, but had the pleasure of working with Lumi throughout the entirety of our engagement. After choosing Beatnik Studios as our venue, we immediately decided to use Lumi for our engagement and wedding photographers. Needless to say, we haven't regretted it one bit.
