I came in last week for a medium-length men's cut after finding this salon on yelp and seeing all the raving 5 star reviews. As a guy, I typically wouldn't have gone looking for a luxury haircut experience, but like many of my peers I have been working from home during Covid and used the time away from the office as an excuse to try something new with my hair and grow it out for the first time since I was in college. Now that my hair was long enough to experiment with some new styles, I was eager to get an appointment booked with someone as skilled as Alex to help me find a look that would work for me. As soon as I arrived, it was clear that Alex takes his craft seriously and he's done an incredible job designing an inviting and luxurious salon. I came prepared to my appointment with a few inspiration pictures to help demonstrate the kind of look I was hoping for. After reviewing the pictures with Alex, he talked me through his ideas for my hair and how we could actually go with a more modern, modified version of the type of cut I was looking for. Knowing how skilled of a stylist he is, I was happy to take his recommendations and let him work his magic. By the end of the haircut, I was blown away - this was hands down the most satisfied I've ever left a salon or barber! My whole life I've been so used to having to wait a few days or a week after a haircut before I started to like the way it looked, but not this time! For the first time in my life, I left a haircut appointment immediately feeling satisfied and confident in my look thanks to Alex's talent. Aside from receiving an awesome haircut, I also had a fantastic experience just chatting with Alex throughout the process. His story is fascinating and his respect for his art is inspiring. Alex is highly regarded in the hair styling community and it's a community that he constantly gives back to through the training and workshops he provides to his staff and fellow stylists. He's someone who understands the importance of staying on top of all the latest trends, technologies, and techniques. The world of hair styling is constantly changing, and you either adapt or get left behind - and Alex is clearly not someone who's going to get left behind. The haircut itself was good, I was given what I had asked for without hesitation. However, when my hair was being blow dried, it felt as if my hair was being yanked by the round brush. This was painful and not very pleasant. Overall, I don't plan on going back for the sole reason of if I'm going to pay $60+ for a haircut, I'd like to enjoy my time in the chair. After calling multiple places and speaking to a lot of people, I decided on Shear Salon. The salon is a bit hidden, but that is kind of nice. The place is huge and airy with very tall ceiling. It looks like a warehouse which is cool. They have wine and beverages as well as cookies when you walk in. The two girls behind the desk were very kind. The person doing my hair was Chiquita (probably spelled wrong). She was very outgoing and not snobby at all. She listened to what I wanted and walked me through all of the steps she was taking. It took over 3 hours to complete my hair and she was great through all of it. I got a ton of compliments on my hair. So, if I had to change 1 thing or suggest 1 thing it would be that they get reclining chairs for the shampoo area. The sinks are great because they move and rest on your shoulders. However, I have metal in my spine and my body just does not relax when sitting in the odd position. I highly recommend this salon and recommend Chiquita too!
