We drove over two hours to attend Frost Fest and take some cool pictures when security shut us down because we *gasp* dared to use a "real" camera instead of a phone camera. We were told that commercial photography is not allowed, and when I tried to explain that we were taking personal photos, they still made us stop. They did not have a clue that people could prefer to use a scary-looking "real" camera for enjoyment. When I tried to contact customer service to request a refund, I got more of the same. read more

Surprisingly enough it wasn't crowded! They're going a grey job at really keeping the park social distance and not having to many guest. It was easy to enjoy yourself and move around. I normally go just for the food lol if I'm being honest, I LOVEEEEE A GOOD FUNNEL CAKE and Hot dog! Nathan's!!! But this time was for my son and he had a blast. There aren't many rides for the smaller children but there's enjoy to keep their attention and give them some fun. My kid loved the fire truck ride where you shoot water and he loved the spinning tea cups. We played an few games at the booths and hit up the arcade too. The tickets are timed between 2 hr or 4 hr, we did the 4 hr, which allows you access to booth parks. The only con for me was that there was one person operating 4 game booths and that didn't make sense. So you had to wait until that one person finished going around with whomever was there before you. And a few games in the arcade weren't working either. Howe my funnel cake was great and the staff at the good area was great also. Part 3 of a day in BK. For a Bronx girl to travel all the way to Coney Island, it's best to make a whole day of it. This day was put in to works by Brooklyn's own Minah (my WCZO) M. Lol. Since putting together an event is her forte, I was in good hands. However, admittedly I wasn't expecting Luna Park to be anything more then what I remembered as a little girl or what recent glimpse of it I caught at the end of my Brooklyn 1/2 run. At first appearance it's nothing major, a small scale amusement park just like I remembered. Where things were switched up was at a couple of the rides that were surely unfamiliar to me. At first glance they look simple and very meh. That is until they take off and then your whole perspective will be changed about the rides and the park itself. Those two rides are Air Race and Electro Spin and all I can say is the age old saying don't judge a book by is cover. Is one that definitely applies here. Epic surprise! We had so much fun here, the tickets can be expensive but some of the rides are worth it. I played games and also rode in the bumper cars which was so fun, even tho I couldn't drive lol it was still a fun experience. The three star review doesn't mean I had a bad day here. The deductions are mainly due to the awkwardly spread out nature of the park that makes it hard to find attractions as well as the older nature of some of the rides that creates a much bumpier experience than other parks I have been to. Overall, this place is still a ton of fun. If you ride the roller coaster is multiple times, you can definitely get your money's worth for the wristband. The staff were very friendly, especially Darnell who did a great job of checking bags at one of the rides. For those if you not from the coast, Luna offers the unique opportunity to experience both the beach and an amusement park at the same time. It is also very accessible from the subway system. Depending on what your goals are, Luna can be the perfect place to go. read more

This was part 2 of our Saturday family day event after a good 2 hour excursion at the New York Aquarium next door. We parked at a 2-hour metered parking spot on the same block as this amusement park and the aquarium. This saved us $9 to be exact because it only costs $1 per hour (x 4 hours) instead of $13 bucks for the day for aquarium parking but not bad if you're planning on staying all day. We decided on purchasing the 100 credits for $100 option so that we could receive an extra 25 bonus credits (only valid on rides). These credits are good for all rides, games and food within Luna Park so we wouldn't have to spend more money than the $100. There were a good number of rides that my 8 year old son (48") and 4 year old daughter (38") could ride together. All day wristband are also available at $42 (under 48") and $69 (48" & above) but it only includes unlimited rides, not valid on any game and food. The arcade was quite small but my expert gamer son was able to win 2-500 ticket jackpots from the doodle jump and barrel of monkeys game while my husband won a 610 ticket jackpot from Quik Drop. In total, we were able to win over 10k tickets, which bedazzled the arcade attendants. This allowed us to get enough prizes to make both kids happy. We will definitely be back again. read more

This place is so trashy also filled with trash people. The place is basically a landfill filled with discarded hot dogs, fries, and so much other gunk littered on the ground. I never see any janitors cleaning anything up. The tickets are way over priced as you will get a better deal at 6 Flags. The ride operators sometimes don't check if you are strapped in the ride harnesses and most are very rude. This place has filthy people who run the games and beg you to pay for the game to play then just try to hit on girls. Its nasty. The rides all in all are boring for the most part. read more

This place probably has the rudest staff I've ever encountered, which seems to be a trend at this place and management doesn't seem to care. I went tonight with our small children and some family from out of the town. The hours online said they close at midnight. We got there at 10:45 just to stop by for a few games after dinner and were told the park was closing in 15 minutes. We were disappointed, but whatever. My kids couldn't get on a ride because they weren't selling the "Luna cards" anymore. They wanted to watch the last ride go around. These two very tall, intimidating male security guards walked over to us and were standing almost on top of me and my kids. They didn't even say anything to me but just stood there. I finally asked one of them if they close early every Saturday night (I honestly needed to say something because they were making me and my children extremely uncomfortable...we had every intention of leaving once the ride was done). I said the hours online said it closed at 12. One of the the guards very rudely said to me "the owner of this park can close it whenever the hell he feels like it". I'm not sure what warranted that rudeness but I didn't appreciate it. Nobody should feel uncomfortable and unsafe around security and they shouldn't be intimidating a woman and her toddlers. I went to the guest services center to ask for a phone number to call and complain about this experience. There was someone already there complaining about how a ride operator cursed at him and his son. How is this allowed here? A place where families go with their children should not have people like this working there. Anyway, as I walk up to speak with the person at the desk, the same security guard comes walking over to me and stands right next to me with his arms crossed, as if he's trying to intimidate me and see what I would say. I told the man at the desk exactly what happened and the security guard laughed at me. Then he walked over to the other security guard and they started saying stuff about me. I got the number I needed and walked out. I get that they're doing their job and making sure everyone leaves. I get that they probably deal with a lot of ridiculous people on a daily basis. That's fine. What isn't fine is the way they acted or spoke to me and my children. There's a way to say things and a way not to. It's sad when places like this don't have any care for their customers because they know they'll be busy no matter how they treat them. The place itself also isn't anything special. There's way too many, much nicer amusement parks and places to go with much better customer service than this to choose from. read more

A really fun place to spend the day! Most of my visits were before Hurricane Sandy. I always enjoyed hanging around getting my pictures of the pier and beach too. The amusement park is historic. I must admit I would not want to live in this neighborhood. You need to be a true blue beach person. The people traffic in the summer must get hectic. The place is kept clean, people are friendly and I love the architecture. I don't go when it is too warm. I didn't find many trees to sit under. There were plenty of benches to relax. There are 2 parts so know what you want to do, because each has a separate charge. It's a glorified carnival, that's it. Save your money. I try and figure out the Luna Cycle because it matches up with my own cycles. But it's hard not to love Luna Park. There's so much history here. It's full of iconic rides that have been featured in a bazillion movies and TV shows. It's spectacular, especially on a summer's day, although there's something to be said about visiting in winter when it's eerily dead and nobody is here. You sort of have to see it both ways. After starting off my family day with the NY Aquarium, which was a disaster, we went to Luna Park which I haven't visited in forever. They only give three options for their cards that use a credit $1 for each credit. ($1= 1credit.) or an all day ride system. First option is $42 for all day rides for kids under 48". Second option is $69 for all day rides for a guest. Last option is $100 which allows you to buy food, ride coasters and play games. My child has never been to an amusement park before so I didn't want to spend so much nor did I want to stay long to ride all the rides. I ended up getting the $100 option anyway because it was the best option available to us. We rode a few rides, played a few games and won a few toys but the most important is that my child had a great time. It turned out more expensive than we anticipated but they made our day better which is key. read more

We should have done more research before going, but upon arriving, we realized that Coney Island is a series of parks next to each other rather than just one big park. Such a beautiful day today and I can not just waste it! Grabbed a huge lunch at Nathan's and walked on over and purchased a kiddie wristband for Kaylen. Kiddie wristbands goes for $20 per child and is good for 4 hours of unlimited rides on rides only for children 36" tall & up. We got on our first ride around 2:30pm and we were like the only ones here, no wait, no lines! Kaylen got to go on most rides all to herself, by herself! Very impressed with their friendly helpful staff for double checking all seat belts, keep it up guys! Area is also kept very clean. The park isn't huge but there were quite a few rides, including a few food stands, a Pie Face, Uncle Louigi's, and a smoothie stand which I don't recall the name. Kaylen had such a great time and totally did not want to leave even though the rain started coming down by 4:30pm. Kaylen was a little disappointed though, because half of the game stands within the park were closed due to "not enough customers today". Wanted to visit the arcade right by the front of the entrance, but did not go in since Kaylen isn't old enough to understand or is physically fit for those big kids games so maybe when you're older Mommy will take you, alright? The new updated rides are pretty dope! If you have not been yet to the new rides you will be surprised to see how cool the new rides are. Me my brother and sister got the all day pass and it was so worth it. They have this ride called the Zenobio and it was 130 feet high going 60 pmh! This was one of many cool rides... but worth it the views were insanely nice to see all the way at the top. They also had the sling shot included in the all day package but you can only go up once. The sling shot was very cool but the speed goes so fast you don't even feel it. The first ride we got on was the thunder bolt and I don't care what anyone say I am a thrill seeker and I found a little scary lol. They have many other new rides such as the steeplechase, the tickler , wild river , Brooklyn flyer and more. Best part was the lines were not as crowded as six flags so we got on multiple times. Place is a scam !!!!!! Don't go here !!!!! Bought tickets online and when I got there they said the system was down told us to wait 40 minutes so we did. After we waited for the 40 minutes they told us to make a long line with the people who haven't purchased their wristbands . It was was probably gonna take another hour or more. They really didn't know what to do with us. We showed them the confirmation but they still refused to give us our wristbands. When we told them to give us our money back because we are not gonna wait another hour or two in another line just so they can tell us something else when we reach the front. Amazing Customer Service!! Yesterday, my husband and 2 children drove 12 hours to Coney Island from North Topsail Beach, North Carolina. We go to NC every summer and we always choose a venue to break up the trip back to Massachusetts. After an incredibly positive visit to Atlantic City during he summer of 2016, we all wanted to give Coney Island a try. None of us had ever been so, to prepare, we watched Wonder Wheel and listened to every podcast we could find about the history of Coney Island on our long drive yesterday. After leaving NC at 5:30 AM and a miserable 12-hour traffic-laden drive, we arrived at the park and were told the rides had closed a half hour earlier due to inclement weather. You can imagine our disappointment especially since we purchased 2 Luna passes for our children who didn't get a chance to use them on a single ride even though the rain stayed away for the rest of the night. We tried to make the most of it but the majority of the other attractions were also closed. Even when we attempted to have a meal at the historic Rudy's, half the chairs were up in the place and we did not get a welcome vibe when we approached. We finally gave up and drove to another part of Brooklyn to find a place to eat. I wrote an email to customer service asking for a refund or raincheck saying we would love another chance to fall in love with Coney Island and change our memories to happy ones. I received a reply a few hours later saying no problem they will grant is a refund and "hopefully we will see us next year". They sure will! I don't even know if we'll be able to wait that long we are so impressed with their willingness to transform our negative experience to a positive one! We heard this episode of Planet Money about the recovery of Coney Island after Hurricane Sandy and it is no wonder to us now why the neighborhood was so willing to get the area back up on it's feet. Luna Park is a fun spot to while away a few hours by Brighton Beach. It's not as expensive as you might think, and a $40 (48-ticket) card got me and my guy four rides together over a couple of hours with a side of people-watching. Rides range from mild to wild, with roller coasters, teacups, and various upside down rides. We had a good time- lines moved fast, employees were friendly, and bathrooms were clean. It's on the small side, so it might be hard to make a day of it but the beach and boardwalk are nearby. read more

I advise you not to go there: they are simply thieves!?! Here's the story: My glasses fell out of my nose during the ride where we lay on our stomachs (the "soerin eagles"). Indeed the merry-go-round makes violent jolts. During a loop and a big jolt, my glasses fall directly into the gutter of the roof of the main building. We can see the branch overtaking with my husband, but as it is more than 4 meters high, they are inaccessible! I am told to go and complain to the "Guest house", and that I will be called back to pick them up either the next day or the day after, because they will be caught by maintenance technicians. I specify that I am on vacation and will return to Europe within 4 days, and that at worst someone will be able to pick them up for me... So since they don't call me back after 2 days, I send them an e-mail, where I receive this response: "Hi A-----, Thank you for contacting Luna Park in Coney Island. I'm sorry to hear you lost your items on one of our rides! Now that we know exactly where to look, I will let our maintenance staff know tonight and they should retrieve it today or tomorrow. When the items are brought to Guest Services, we will be sure to give you a call! Our team thanks you for your continued patience, loyalty, and understanding. We hope to see you again soon. kind regards, Trinity Ducasse Operations Coordinator" After this message I was never called back or even contacted by email. Worse I relaunched them and I received no response! Really not serious, not professional, or even worse, it's theft! My girlfriend and I went to Luna Park today and had a great time overall. The one issue I had was with the new entrance fee. The new policy is that you have to pay in order to enter the park, which differs from the old policy of free entrance into the park and then paying per ride. While this is nothing new for amusement parks (Six Flags and others have similar business models), Luna Park times you upon entrance and you are only able to go on the rides for a short period of time (two or four hours depending on the package that you purchase) before your wrist band stops working. There are three tiers of wrist bands: Family Fun Zone (two hours in the area with the less intense rides), Thrill Seeker (two hours in the area with the more intense rides) and Extraordinary Pass (four hour and access to both parks). We wanted access to both parts of the park, so we went with the Extraordinary Pass. We went into the family area of the park first (which does not allow re-entry once you leave). When we bought the tickets we were told that we were allowed two hours in each section of the park and that the time for the thrill rides section of the park would not start running until we took our first ride in that area of the park. However, that is not the case and it is is a four hour running clock and as soon as you enter the park. Overall the new ticketing model creates a more stressful environment where you feel like you have to rush around to the rides before you run out of time. And we did not feel comfortable taking a break to walk along the boardwalk, play any of the games or even eat lunch because we felt like we were on a timer. Also, the fact that you cannot re-enter the family area of the park is ridiculous. I understand the switch to one fee to enter the park, but there should not be a time cap on how long you can spend in the park. I would gladly spend a slight premium to current pricing for untimed access to the rides. They either need to tweak their current model or return to the old model of paying credits for each ride individually. I am sure the pandemic impacted things, but the current system made the experience far less enjoyable than it has been in previous years. read more

I must say, this has always been a fun and magical place for me. especially since my grandfather took me here when I was small. I came here with My husband and son and although we generally had a great time, most of the staff were extremely rude, had no smile on their faces and just gave pure attitude. this really saddens me- I will continue to come back because it's nostalgia for me but the people working Here really need to fix their attitudes. this was always a place that I felt welcome and now that I take my son here, I want him to have the same feelings and memories. not to mention, they have the nerve to charge crazy prices and have different cards for different rides and games along with the extremely rude attitudes. we all have moments where we do not enjoy our job but this is just disgusting, as it was more than one staff member. on that note, i will always love Coney Island and the magic it holds, but I really hope my review doesn't go unnoticed, and adds to the others that shared my thoughts and feelings. read more

As theme and amusement park enthusiasts, we were really looking forward to Luna Beach. Prior to getting there, we studied their website and checked for the best deal that suited our needs. The website gave a 10% discount, but we would still have to pay $69/per person because we're over 48" tall. We tried to find cheaper tickets and came across the New York Pass. This pass included Luna Park along with 100+ other attractions and discounts. Thank God we got the New York Pass because we were able to do a lot of attractions, saving us a lot of money. Also, if we had paid $69 for Luna Park only, we would have been angry. Once we got there, the look of the park was very old school carnival. The pictures online reflect that, but make the park seem bigger than what it really is. Also, the all-access passes we got, excluded several of their major rides. Basically, the rides that were included where rides for children and major thrill rides. We also stumbled onto another park of rides called Deno's. They are located in the middle of Luna Park. They are a separate park and Luna's tickets don't provide any access to their rides. The few rides we did ride at Luna, were mediocre. There were several large groups of middle and elementary school-age students there. It's expected since it's summer, but a little hard to enjoy. On one of the rides, "The Tickler," we felt wads of spit hit us in our hair, ears and faces and I was insulted by the male employee working that ride. He had the nerve to tell me I couldn't ride the ride if I was pregnant. I told him I wasn't and instead of apologizing, he said he wanted to ask me before the female employee said something. Well she never said anything and I did not have any problem fitting in that ride or any ride there. After these encounters, we were over it! Luna is a waste of money! If you want to go, get the New York Pass, so you can do other attractions that will add up to or exceed the value of your pass. We love NYC and will definitely return. Are you joking me right now??? So I just tell them to give me back my money through original payment(cash) and I'll just leave.
