Went in yesterday for a headlight bulb replacement charged 79 dollars still no headlight. I get you can come back on christmas eve and we can try and figure out the problem. So thanks for nothing but adding a dent to my bank account. Love driving in the dark with one headlight. They said they put in a new bulb said it didn't work. I got under and come to find out they never replaced the bulb I marked the old bulb the day I put it in so keep scamming customers im going to the better business bureau tomorrow. read more

Update 6/27/22 Since posting this review, the General Manager, Heather, has been in contact with me and has been very responsive and helpful. She listened to the situation and apologized, and did what she could to correct the issue. I really appreciate all her dedication to do what was right and will be considering Lundgren for future purchases. 6/23/22 Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience with this dealership. Ted Free, the salesman, was great at time of order but then when he was made aware by myself that he had made a big mistake 9 weeks into order, I was told everything was up to par still and then I never heard back from him. The only reason I found out he had ordered the wrong color was because I had been making phone calls to check up on the order number after a few months. I never received paperwork for the actual order showing that he had made an error in color. Had he given me the correct paperwork, I would have noticed and would have been able to resolve the mistake that same day. I reached out to Ted several times and finally decided to call the store manager when calls or texts were not returned. They actually asked me to call some dealerships to see if I could find the same car to do a trade. I found myself doing all the leg work for someone else to receive the commission on my sale. Although Betsy has tried to help out, it kept going back to waiting on Ted. I tried reaching out to Subaru of America as well and they just told me I needed to deal with Bennington Subaru directly. As of today, I still have heard nothing from Ted and have had to reach out again in regards to getting my deposit back. I honestly feel as though I was forgotten as a client possibly because of my age or just that it was a small town and they knew me. I firmly believe had I been an older adult struggling with this order, they would have gone out of their way to help resolve the situation. This was supposed to be such an exciting time for me as it would have been my first car purchase. Instead, I feel as though I was left in the dark over a big mistake made by the salesman. I should also say that It had already been 2 and a half months into the process before finding out it was the wrong color car. All I wanted was for them to take responsibility and do what they needed to make this right, but that didn't happen. It's very unfortunate that a small town dealership where I grew up wasn't willing to correct this issue on their own. So many mistakes were made on the part of both the salesman and dealership. Had they taken responsibility for the errors, I would not be writing this negative review and would have worked with them to make it right. I guess I learned not to put trust in people who once the paperwork is signed, they forget about you. I should have been treated the same as anyone else, if not better because they knew me. Unbelievable!!! Here we go again! Took my Forester in for oil change and tire rotation and they COULDN'T DO THAT RIGHT!! Never take your vehicle to this dog and pony show. Their mechanics don't know the difference between a lugnut and a spark plug. They stripped out 2 lug nuts so bad I had to BREAK THEM OFF to get the wheel off!!!!OMG WTF! I went there on September 14th, 2020 to look at used cars. A salesman, JD, asked how much I wanted to spend. I told him and he said he didn't think they had anything in that price range, but he would check. He came back and said they had one car at that price point. I took it for a test drive. When i got back i asked how much. JD's price was about $2,000 more than I said I was willing to spend, so I walked out. A half hour later, another man form Bennington Subaru called and asked if i could drive back to Bennington because they have a car that fits my budget. When I asked how much, he could not tell me. The salesman seemed willing to work with us on trade in $$$ and took everything I threw at them in stride. We bought a truck. So far so good! All in all a very pleasant experience. If I could leave zero stars, I would. I called and spoke to two different people on the phone who told me the car was ready and was checked over by their shop. Also, I was ensured that the car would pass NYS inspection. Totally different story when I got here after driving 2 1/2 hours on a Sunday in the rain. The car couldn't even be driven off the lot, and wouldn't start. The manager on duty was totally unapologetic. He said you know what you're getting. He didn't care at all that the car was misrepresented. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE DISHONEST PEOPLE! The car had so many more issues than we were told. read more

Went to purchase a car. Had one picked, agreed on a price, trade in, everything. What my monthly payments would be. I was told everything would be ready for tomorrow signing and picking up. All of a sudden the next day, I couldn't get the loan, something about my credit, the car wasn't available and a whole bunch of other excuses. I ended up going to Albany Lia Nissan and got a newer better car for the same monthly payment with no problem with my credit. Not sure what game Bennington Subaru was playing, but very upsetting when ur told ur credit isn't good enough when actually it was! I would NEVER GO TO BENNINGTON SUBARU!! read more

We drove our Subaru Outback cross country and needed a basic oil change and tire rotation. Bennington Subaru got us in right away. Sadly, a few days after we got our car back, it was having trouble starting. Since the car is practically brand new, and the problem started right after it was serviced, we deduced that something may have happened during the oil change. I called them back right away and they took the car back. The lady on the phone was skeptical that the problem was because of the oil change, but she didn't argue with me when I insisted it was a brand new problem. Turns out there was a computer update needed for cars that stutter in cold weather. Since our car is a CA native, this update fixed the problem. The service department was very friendly and accommodating with our tight travel schedule and did not charge us for the computer update and additional service appointment. read more

This dealership sold me a car 2 months ago, knowing I am a veteran and single parent who went through a horrific divorce - not to mention my mother died the day before I purchased the vehicle. The vehicle's engine blew on the interstate over the weekend and was taken to another dealership who spoke to the sales people at Lungren's for help. There is a reason the Autosaver Group has the highest rate of consumer complaints in Vermont. Bennington Subaru sold us a car as like new. He listened to me throughout and gave great advice, and ensured I was confident in my choices. They make sure to take care of all the business behind the sale even though I live out of state. Horrible experience dealing with this dealership. My husband & I were looking for a used car for our son. We were shown several cars on the hill in the back that are sold "as is" we found a 2009 Honda Fit and agreed on a price. After test driving we asked them to check the ac since it did not blow cold air. The salesman assured us they would put it in the shop the next day to let us know if it needed to be recharged or if it's a bigger problem. We also spoke to the general manager who reassured us that they would hold the car and get back to us tomorrow. No one ever contacted us we called them several times left messages with no returned call. We finally reached our salesman 2 days later, he said give me 5 mins and I'll call you right back, never heard from him again. Our teenage son was so disappointed, he really liked the car and was so excited being his first car. My biggest complaint besides that fact that our salesperson was a complete scatterbrain and obviously the general manager has low standards on how they conduct business is that they could of just said NO to the sale of the car. It makes no sense why they put us through all of this especially knowing this was our son's first car. The good news is we ended up finding a nicer car for our son at Toyota of Clifton Park and received great service from them. read more

Whatever you do if you get your headgasket repaired at Bennington Subaru, make sure they put in the Timing Belt Kit. They didn't do it on mine (when it was at 155k), and I didn't catch it, and my engine on my car blew (at 176K) because the idler pulley failed. That would have been in the timing belt kit which I was never offered to buy, which is much cheaper than any sort of engine. I also find it interesting they started calling me every Saturday soon after to buy back my car, then 2x a week this summer before it failed. Too bad I don't have money now to buy one, and if I did, I will not buy one here. I miss my old 93 Wagon, and Subaru's that didn't have headgasket issues, and when people changed pulleys just in case, and don't state, "the barings would have felt fine, so we put it back in" on a 10 year old car that may/may not have ever had that part repaired. read more

RANT: So my generous parents have been trying to find me a car as a gift for graduation. We found a 2012 Subaru Impreza on the Bennington Subaru website. Nice car and right in their price range. My dad emails a man Mike Robinson to inform him that we are interested. Mike then continues to email my dad 2-3 times a week asking us when we are coming to see the car. Chill. My father and I go to the dealership on 3/19 to check out the car. My father letMike Robinson and the folks at the dealership know that we were coming to check out the car and give it a test drive and they gave us the okay. We get to the dealership and we're greeted by a man who we will refer to as "Mr. Pinky". So "Pinky" lets us know that the Impreza which we had planned on coming to check out was at a different dealership for some used car show. Theres a 2013 Impreza in stock so I test drove that. It was dandy and we liked it a lot. The 2012 was in our price range so we wanted to wait on that. Fast forward to this week when my father informs the dealership that we will be coming on Saturday to finally see the 2012 Impreza and the head honcho of the dealership, Mike Robinson, once again gives us the go ahead. He informs us that the car will be parked in the front row waiting for us to see, and hopefully buy. We are literally about to leave the house and we get a call from "Pinky" letting us know that the car has been taken on a test drive by other folks who are thinking about buying it. He tells us he will call once the car is back from the test drive. Okay that is annoying but whatever. He calls around 11:15 and says to come down because the car is back. He said it'll be in the front row waiting for us. At 12:15 we arrive to Bennington Subaru and there is no Impreza in sight. We are greeted by "Pinky" who lets us know that the car is in fact NOT THERE. He then claimed that he sent someone to go pick up the car and it'll take 15 minutes at most to get the car for us to see. My father is kind of annoyed but he's a easy going fellow so he said we will wait. Anything longer than 20 minutes and my father is going to lose it. 25 minutes later "Pinky" comes up to us and tells us that the car IS NOT COMING BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. My dad is pissed as hell and I've only seen him this mad once, when I got cut from the basketball team in middle school because because I was an unathletic spaz, but that is an entirely different and entertaing story for another day. "Pinky" slightly apologizes and as we leave my dad calls him a liar, not to his face. Lolz drama. My dad tells me to gird my loins because he is "about to go postal on social media and rip them a new one". Needless to say, don't ever do business with Bennington Subaru. They are straight up liars. read more

First, I am not a fan of dealers. I do virtually all my own maintenance (I just changed a timing belt on our Baja). Having said that, we owned two Subaru Baja's for 5 years, and I bought many parts from them and was pleased with the customer service. I could order parts over the phone with Bill, no deposit. Always happy. Yesterday, I took a family members 2010 Forester in for recall work, and asked for state inspection, and an oil change (not my car). VERY reasonable charges. While we were waiting for the Forester service, we traded in our 2006 Baja, and left the parking lot with a high mileage 2012 Impreza. I have never traded in a vehicle, didn't want to, but decided to be lazy on this one, as it sucks selling a vehicle privately. Plus, they raised our trade-in $1000 during negotiations. The young salesman we worked with, Brad Croff, was easy going, not pushy, and very personable. We were there for quite some time test driving, negotiating and doing final paperwork. Brad, and his manager were willing to come to terms to meet our financial limits. Everyone stayed late, and were mostly very pleasant. I got home and reviewed the KBB and NADA values, and was quite satisfied with what we got for our money. I checked the Carfax, and they had all the service documented when put up for sale, and they went through this car! All kinds of service items, All fluids and filters changed, new brakes, new tires. Carfax adds $1150 to the retail value. They never mentioned these items at the dealer. Bottom line. I recommend both service and sales here. read more

I drove 2.5 hours to the dealership to check out a 2015 WRX that was in the right price range I was looking for. After the test drive, I mentioned to the sales person that both taillights had cracks in them. He vehemently claims that they are scratches... Apparently the sales person thinks I am dumb enough to not know the difference. So we get to the negotiation table, and he continues to shoot down all my research saying that KBB and TrueCar are garbage and that their numbers are never right and that his numbers are right. In the end, I gave him what I felt was a fair market value for the vehicle and he acts like I offered the dealership a bag of rocks. Needless to say I did not purchase the vehicle. Fast forward a few days, the dealership has called me twice in the week, not leaving a message and won't stop bugging me. I am glad I did NOT purchase this vehicle as after doing some thinking, in order for a 1 year old vehicle to have cracked taillights and has had the trunk replaced from a standard WRX trunk to an STI trunk with wing, the only logical explanation is the the vehicle was in an unreported accident and the person changed the trunk but not the taillights. But the sales person assured that the spoiler was $1000 installed correctly, even though there was NO paperwork of it being done by a shop. Save yourself the time and go somewhere else. read more

Completely done with this place. Two times I tried buying a car here and was lied to repeatedly by the sales staff and manager. Very shady operation that places prices online then denies they exist, stating you have to trade in a specific year car to get the price. I laughed as the sales person fumbled on the website to find the fine print. Funny that he couldn't find it either. Then to be told to my face that he didn't want to sell me a car because he was concerned on how I would rate him and the dealership based on my experience. So unless your a doting half whit who just nods with whatever sales "pitch" aka false advertising they have, they won't sell you a car. Plus the big slap in the face was that they refused to entertain taking my trades. You lost a life long Subaru owner guys. I went next door and had a great experience at Carbone Honda. I was a loyal customer, bought 3 cars there and had them serviced regularly. However this last time, just AFTER having new brakes installed for $800, I was told my ten-year-old car suddenly needed $4,000 worth of work, leaking thises and thats. I took it to another mechanic and yes, the work needs to be done, and perhaps more, but there's no reason why it couldn't have been done over time, kept up all along. That's WHY I went to them, to forestall such surprises, but no more, no thanks. read more

If you get your car serviced here, expect to wait a long time (an hour for inspection!) and DON'T forget your calculator! They are rip-off artists and over-charge for things. They struggle with basic addition tasks. Their prices are crazy expensive (e.g. a cabin filter that NAPA charges $10 is priced at $65 at Benn Subaru). They excel at overcharging and always find something extra to charge you for when all you want is an oil change. It seems like those at the service dept have been instructed in how to rip-off a customer. And forget trying to buy a car here, the sales staff is equally incompetent and don't seem to care about selling a car. read more

Restored my faith in dealer front-shop practices! Firstly, Bob Morin and Isaac Simon quickly negotiated a VERY fair price over the phone with zero haggle. My wife and I arrived mid-afternoon on a Saturday to find a brand new building buzzing with activity...It is a Subaru dealer in Vermont, after all. We were quickly set free for an extended test drive and greeted by Joe Mancini on return. Joe proceeded to seamlessly plow through the paperwork and phone call to insurance, including transit plate for New York state, while casually engaging in conversation about woodworking, the days of full-service gas stations and flying powered parachutes. The final few minutes of the transaction were with Ryan Farrell, signing off and paying up with more friendly conversation. The entire transaction went off without the slightest hitch. Came in for an oil change at 8am 1/6/18. Due to the new building right next door I was unsure where to enter. Called the service desk from the parking lot they said old front door. Door was still locked when I tried to get in, had to wait. I have an after market exhaust on my car. Since the shop is one closed door away from where customers wait for service, you can hear everything. The tech decided to play with the exhaust and rev the engine a few times (other customers noticed and even commented to me about it). This is not good for the car right after replacing the oil. It does not help circulate the oil, the oil should settle for 5 min or so. The car also has a turbo charger on it, revving a car with a turbo and cold oil is the worst thing you can do to it. Will not be returning. This either shows me that the techs there are extremely childish or do not know what they are doing. read more

We were traveling thru VT when our check engine light came on. Prime targets for a dealer to charge us for pricey fix with no real options. Surprise when in just 5 minutes we had the car back with the error code and recommendation on some routine maintenance when we got home. Hardly time to even get our fresh and free coffee. And the cost? Nothing! The service department was friendly and great. Refreshing compared to most dealership interactions we have had in the past. read more

I've gone to Bennington Subaru in Vermont for auto services before. THe first couple of times it was great. Very attentive, good work and professional. The last two times it has felt very sleazy and poor service. Service advisers picking up the phone while you are in front of them checking in. Not getting informed the car work was done. Last two times I have seen my car back in the parking lot, with the work all done but no one has informed me as I waited hours in the waiting room. Then I ask for a wheel alignment check, just a check, and then I find the full on alignment performed so they can charge the full fee. No one even informed me. Jason, the adviser, seems very sleazy. So does the fat guy in the service department. But that's OK. Since it will be the last time I will ever go back there. I used to think highly of this place, even recommended them. Not anymore. And guess what, it's a small area, so word gets around. read more

A while back I posted a negative review on this site. A short time later I saw a message asking me to contact one of their managers to address my concerns. After a little phone tag I was told to bring the car in and they would look at it. Well, not only did they fix the shifting problem (computer reflash), but they also replaced a rear wheel bearing and axleshaft (not even something I complained bout). They also provided a loaner car while ours was being worked on. When we asked what the bill would be we were told no charge. Bottom line, they went above and beyond to fix our problem and i rescind my initial negative review. Thank you Issac and your whole team. read more

I've been going to Benn Subaru since I purchased my Impreza from them in 2009. I went in yesterday for a routine $19.95 oil change and the brake recall service. As, I sat there waiting for the car, the service person that I was dealing with brought out a light bulb from the back brake light and told me it was burnt out. He said it would cost $2.25 to replace it. So, I gave permission to replace it. I waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for my car, after I was told it would take 45 minutes. When it was finally done, I paid the bill and left. As I was driving home I started to think,. How could a $19.95 oil change and a $2.25 light bulb cost $51? I looked at the bill detail when I got home (30 miles away) and they charged me for $29.95 for the oil change and $17.60 to screw in the $2.25 light bulb! I called immediately and spoke with the service person. He was angry with me on the phone when I told him I wanted the money refunded. I went in the next day to get the refund, the same service person was argumentative, rude, and blamed me for his mistakes!! The only thing he did right was get the service manager to help. She was very nice and did take care of the situation. Now mind you I have been there many times and this is the first time this has happened. They do however, have all new people in the service department, including the manager. Very Disappointing. 4/16/15 - Update. The service manager called me and offered to detail my car to make up for any ill will that I had over this visit. I graciously accepted the offer and made an appointment for the detail. Thus I changed my rating from 1 star to 2 stars. In reading the history of this dealership on this page, I noticed that it has not been updated since the dealership was sold. The owners and the family mentioned no longer own the place. I don't necessarily think that is a bad thing, but they could update the page. I will review again after the detail job is completed. read more

Airbag replacement took about four months to fix. We were given a loaner car for two of those months, which was done at no charge. This was nice of them. During that time (November and December), I asked them to put our snow tires on the car. When I got the car back, the heater didn't work, and found they had forgotten to replace a cable which controls that function. They had to disable it during the airbag replacement. Once this was fixed, the car was returned unwashed and unvacuumed, after two months on their lot. Driving home, I noticed the tire pressure light went on the dashboard, and was informed that it was normal for that to happen after changing the tires, and it would go off after driving it for a while. This did happen, but the next day it was on again and would not go off. When I took it back in (for the third time), they wanted $250 to replace two sensors which were not functioning. They returned me a broken car, and wanted me to pay for something that happened during their care. I was told that it was like a lightbulb, and this can happen at any time. The fact that it happened on their lot was immaterial. I felt like this was terrible customer service, and I will not go back there if I can help it. read more
