We were 600 miles from home , on our way to a funeral and a sway bar broke off our front wheel. 3:30 on a Friday and 2 degrees F! Thank you, Vern at Midas in Bennington and the staff at Town Fair Tire. In Wednesday 8/7 I was driving Rte. 30 from Boston to Sunderland, VT and needed to stop at a local store. In doing so I hit the potholes of potholes. This resulted in a large sidewall bubble. No worries, I have tire replacement coverage from the dealer. So I thought! I called the Bennington Honda, and after 3-4 calls, no verification they could accept the insurance I bought at a Honda dealership, and an appointment with no guarantee if i was paying or not. I decided to call around with the caveat that a shop had to initiate the claim and I couldn't be reimbursed without this. Spoke to Tire Warehouse, nope, not something they do. I called Town Fair Tire, they looked into it, called me back and told me they could not either. However, they offered to call other retailers and check for me. This is where Vern at Midas came in. He was unsure if the could, called the insurance company, called me back, confirmed they could and he initiated the claim, informed me they had the tire, and scheduled my appointment for yesterday. My appointment went perfectly with the manager Chrissy greeting me and being fully aware of my situation. RIP OFF ARTISTS!!!Got a full brake job done there for $1,300 in September of 2022, with a year warranty. In November 2023 I started having brake issues. I brought my vehicle back. I was told I was months out of warranty, needed another FULL SET of brakes, my vehicle was dangerous to drive as they all had brake fluid on them but they would help out by partially honoring the warranty and it would be $1,500. I declined. I brought my vehicle to another, reputable, brand name service center in Manchester, VT and they fixed my brakes for $245!!! read more

My sisters and I were on our way to Vermont yesterday for a bit of shopping and girl time. An hour from our destination Bennington, Vermont the change oil soon warning came on in my car. I was thinking what bad timing this was with our time in Vermont and the drive home to Connecticut and I had a lot of work Monday and was driving to my daughters on Tuesday. My sister got on her cell phone and looked for a place to get my oil changed at and called Midas. They COULD NOT have been nicer. They even said if we came in a bit late someone would stay to change my oil!! We got there on time. The people were great. The oil change was done quickly and for less than I have ever paid. I am thinking of finding a Midas near me or maybe I'll just drive back to Bennington when the next change is due. read more

Heard that the Midas technicians do or did work on commission, so when I made the appointment for an oil change and tire rotation, I expected to hear this that and the other about the car. Arrived about 15 minutes early took me right in, did the whole job in about 15 minutes and was out of there. In addition, I didn't hear this this that and the other about the car. My wife and I were traveling through Bennington, VT on our way up to Canada and had brake problems. It was a Friday at 4:30pm and most of the car garages were closed by then. We called a local shop and they told us Midas may still be open so I called. Midas was just closing but after I told him our story, he had us come in so we can get it fixed. Midas went above and beyond to help us and fixed our brakes and we were able to continue our trip up north. Midas told us they wanted to help us because they thought what it would be like if they were in our situation. This place is the worst. Brought in the car with some vague issues, they recommended a $400 brake job when it didn't need them. We also had to replace a battery that failed when it was under warranty and they charged us $90. This place is a rip off, don't trust them otherwise they will take advantage of you. read more

We brought our Xterra in because of a noise in the engine. Vern and his staff were right on top of it and diagnosed a loose spark plug within minutes. On the Saturday morning of Labor Day weekend, on a brief vacation in Bennington [we live in NJ], the starter on our 2005 Honda Accord died. AAA made a temporary fix and led us to Midas, the only repair place open that day. Owner Vern Mc'Guire was fully booked, but took us anyway. When the appropriate starter didn't look right, he did the research to uncover why our car had an unexpected starter in it, found a foreign car place in Albany NY with the necessary part, and had our car ready sooner than expected. DO NO GO HERE!!! I brought in my car because the windshield wipers were stuck in an upright position but still worked, they just would not stay down, and my car squeaked sometimes. I went in to have them look at my car and they told me I needed a new motor for the wipers and a new timing belt. They were going to charge me $400+ for all of it, so I made an appointment. I left and after about 20 minutes my windshield wipers completely broke, they fell off and would not move. I went back and my husband demanded they fix them since they broke them and they said they would fix them back to how they were before. I said absolutely not and we made an appointment elsewhere. When I got to my appointment elsewhere he just tightened the timing belt and put something back in place for the windshield wipers to work. It cost me less than $60. Clearly Midas moved something so I'd have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for something that could have been easily fixed, if not than they don't know what they are doing, and I'd highly recommend going elsewhere!!! read more

1 year ago, this Midas charged me $800 for a front and rear brake-job... rotors and pads. The rotors and pads have already failed due to caliper troubles that they clearly overlooked when doing the brake-job... about $200 later (from my TRUSTED MECHANIC elsewhere) I am back on the road with no troubles, lubricated calipers, new rotors, and new pads.... ONE STINKING YEAR is all I got out of $400!!!!!!! I will NEVER go back to this shop again, even if they offered me free brake-jobs for life, how could I trust the work they did was complete and good? read more
