    Hazelnut croissant limited item
    Kimberly W.

The flakiness of the croissant was amazing. It really was the best croissant I've had. The hazelnut following was delicious. Even the regular croissant, their most popular and common one, was delicious. The flakiness and crisp was delicious and the fluff inside was perfect. I was looking for recommendations and saw this was a super popular shop in Melbourne. When I visited there was a line, but it went by very quickly. The person who takes your order completed it from the ordering to the packaging to the payment so it helps make sure you get your item quickly. There is no seating but people stood around counters and enjoyed their croissant. TLDR - long line, but short wait, worth it - delicious amazing croissants

Cute spot in Fitzroy of the famed Lune Croissanterie. The croissants were flaky on the outside and chewy on the inside! When we arrived, they only had the pistachio croissant with rose cream, pain au chocolat, and regular croissant; I asked and was sad to learn that they were out of the almond croissant. Since I'm not a fan of consuming rose-anything, I opted for the regular croissant and the chocolate croissant, along with a black coffee (no tea as another Yelper had mentioned). The pain au chocolat was good, and good to enjoy with the black coffee. As we were finishing our chocolate croissant, I noticed they were putting an additional item on the "visual menu" at the counter. It was the almond croissant! I immediately went up to buy one. While I was very glad we got to try the almond croissant and we enjoyed it, I wished the staff member who took our first order had checked before telling us they were out of the almond croissants. Now we have an extra regular croissant lying around and I don't like to waste food; I suppose there are worse things in life... The almond croissant was good; I especially liked the crunchy almonds on top, adding to the texture of the whole dish.

    Croissants!!!

Yup. Worth all of the hype. It is the best croissant I've ever eaten -- and I've traveled the world. The almond croissant has a butter/sugar topper that is addictive!

Kind of difficult to find, but the map is your friend. The inside looks nothing like the outside or surrounding neighborhood. The croissants were fantastic and the coffee was good as well. I was there early on a Monday, just after opening and it was not crowded. They also had a full inventory and the staff were busily working. They are "card payment only," which is fine since I didn't have much cash... but good to know if you're making the trip. The tram will get you out here pretty efficiently from the city ... just be aware that it will be completely full in the mornings on the way back! Croissants are buttery throughout, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I generally just do plain ones, so I don't know how the others are -- they had ham and cheese, chocolate banana, almond when I was here. I did try the lemon curd one and it was fantastic. Worth the trip.

Believe the hype for this croissant bakery, some of the best croissants and kouign-amann I have ever had. The service is super quick, however, the ques can get long, so get here early. Once they are sold out for the day they will close. The ambiance is a small cafe and there is barely any sitting space. However, FED squares and benches on the Yarra River are not too far away.

Great and they know it. There is a queue to get an order in at Lune - we were lucky and only waited 5 minutes midweek. The queue is to the counter we're you order - examples on display - we were recommended the almond croissant and chose some others and coffee. The prices reflect the quality and taste. Coffee order came out with the pastries. Coffee was good - disappointed the cup was on the smaller side. Croissants lived up to the hype - they were light, tasty, subtle and more, the supermarket pastry is a mere pale reflection on what is on offer. That said the prices reflect the quality. Loved the Kouign Amann ( looks similar to a scroll but it is not ). Almond croissant was star. It is 5 stars but the prices take off some of the shine - $6.20 for a plain croissant. Loved it

BEST.CROISSANTS.EVER!!! I have been her countless times. I was lucky enough to live in the neighborhood for a few months, so I was a frequent visitor. I have tried every pastry, croissant, food item Lune has to offer. One word, Amazing. I get giddy when I stand in line! The hardest part about coming here is deciding on which items to get. They have some classics that are served all year long and then some awesome seasonal ones. If you must try one pastry and one pastry only, get the Kouign Amann, I know what you are thinking? How do I pronounce that, and what is it? pronounced [kwi amãn] It is simply known as the fattiest pastry in all of Europe. The name comes from the Breton language words for cake (kouign) and butter (amann). BUTTER. That is the secret or not so secret recipe. It is a traditional pastry from France, laminated with sugar and baked in a buttered, sugared mold until caramelised. Some other must try goodies are the Ham & Gruyere Croissant, Lemon Curd Cruffin, and the Almond Croissant. For the seasonal options you can look at their menu online or on Instagram. Service is great, coffee is great, pastries are out of this world. Go, right now.

    These were the offerings.

Very yummy worth the wait. But be advised no tea only coffee. The almond Croissant and cinnamon muffin were the best. We also tried original & chocolate.

Expensive pastries that are very good. I bought the almond and ham and cheese croissant. I prefer the ham and cheese more because I thought the orange zests on the almond was a bit too much for my tasting but they are definitely high quality pastries. I do think it's a bit more on the pricey side but the other issue with some of the Melbourne cafes is that a lot of them only take credit card. So even if you wanted to pay in cash, you HAVE to pay in cash. Regardless I wish the best for Lune Croissanterie. I thought it was a really good croissant place and recommend people to give it a try. There are a lot of people that comes here too so you know it's legit. Hope Lune can survive this pandemic!

To use the Honeymooners' metaphor for spousal abuse, Lune, you had me going, "Bang! Zoom! Straight to the moon!" I had read about Lune's ridiculous wait times, so I was pretty nervous walking up to the building, because: (a) I really, really, reallllllly wanted to try Lune, but (b) had a relatively short window to make it happen. But what a pleasant surprise in that we were in and out in about 15 minutes. And having now experienced Lune for all of its "world's best croissant" glory, made using science by an aerospace engineer or some nonsense (I dunno, I tend to zone out when I start reading food blogs, much like you're doing right now), I have to say that Lune mostly lived up to the hype. We tried three croissants including the traditional, the almond croissant, and one with chocolate, because... I mean, I did travel some 9,000+ miles (14,500-ish km) for this thing, so go big or go back to the other side of the planet I guess... I tell people that I came to Australia to explore Sydney and Melbourne, but Lune was literally the most important thing on my bookmarks. The chocolate filled one was really good. I dunno what else to tell you. The almond croissant was exceptional. It was everything I expected it to be and then some (seeing as how almond croissants are like my basic bish food of choice). But Lune's almond croissant is still second best for me, because the best almond croissant I've had thus far in my short life was this random place I found in Ft. Lauderdale (Florida, USA). But we're talking millimeters in difference (if you can measure flavor in millimeters). The traditional croissant from Lune though was by far the best croissant I've ever eaten. It was everything you would imagine a great croissant to be: Delicious. Flaky. Buttery. Subtle. Pillowy. Delicate. Airy. Light. How many words can I use to say the same thing? One more, just to be extra pretentious: Recherché. These are expensive croissants though. I mean, everything is expensive in Australia (except coffee, which, God bless you Strayans for that), but even accounting for dollar conversions and such, these are pricey croissants. I kinda debated dropping a [*] because the prices are approaching "exorbitant." But they haven't quite reached obnoxiously expensive. Yet. But, shoot for the stars on that, I guess. You'll end up on the moon soon enough, I'm sure...

Long black and amazing almond croissant.

Lune has one of the best almond croissants I've ever tasted in my life, after Ariscault Bakery in San Francisco. But the atmosphere here is way better. There's plenty of seating, tap and sparkling water options up for grabs, clothing and accessories you can buy home, including an open space format where you can watch the various chefs making the pastries! More on that almond croissant though... so many fluffy flaky layers with a ton of almonds on top. This is unique to Lune as all the other croissants I've had only have a couple almonds sprinkled here and there. I came here again the next day and had every intention of trying other pastries but just couldn't. I do recommend following their Instagram page to keep up to date on different flavors and different pastries they have for all the holidays throughout the year! You can't say you've visited Melbourne without trying this place.

Much hyped croissant spot with excellent croissants, and good coffee. They tend to sell out, so get there early if you want to go to variety of flavors.

The best croissants I've ever tried. Even though I door have a sweet tooth I will go there every single day. It's happiness in every single bite. All the croissants are a delicious masterpiece, homemade crafted by artists.

Delicious- so worth it. Get one of each!

This place is so small that it is not immediately obvious that it sells anything at all, that is until you catch sight of row upon row of its yummy looking baked goods or catch a glimpse of the queue of devotees that invariably snake out Fatto A Mano's distinctive red door and onto the street. Me? I was in the market for pastries. Lots of pastries when I stumbled in yesterday for a browse. The owner was a little brusque - but then in a space this small she probably feels as if people are literally and metaphorically standing on her toes - but the selection is wonderful. I opted for one each of the raspberry and blueberry Danishes which were nice - not exceptional - and, it must be said, a little stingily topped with custard and berries. My one qualm is what looked to me like burnt Danish undersides, but was apparently caramelised sugar. Either way the Danes tasted a little ashen.

Positioned near the corner of Gertrude and Smith Streets, Fatto A Mano is a small organic bakehouse…read morethat boasts a wide variety of breads, as well as pizza's sold by the slice, cakes, pastries, and soups. With a queue that often spills out the door, the ordering process has a rather regimented vibe to it (a la Seinfeld's 'Soup Nazi'), and you can almost hear the eyeballs roll (from both patrons and staff) when someone doesn't know their exact order by the time they arrive at the counter. Thus, my query of "which is better - the roast pumpkin pizza or the spinach pie?" is met with the deadpan response: "well do you like pumpkin or spinach?" I suppose I had that coming. In terms of the breads on offer, Fatto A Mano is most popular for its sourdoughs, which are free from ascorbic acid - apparently quite a selling point for the more discerning foodie than I. At $6 a loaf (around 2/3 the size of your standard Woolworths white), it would want to impress, and fortunately, Fatto A Mano does just that - reminding you what bread is meant to be. The bread is moist, hearty and full flavoured and the various pastries on offer (both sweet and savoury) are dangerously decadent. Make sure to try the Blueberry Danish and the Bread & Butter Pudding when available (though most things on offer are so rich that one of anything should satisfy). Fatto A Mano is open Mondays-Saturdays (and closed for the entire month of January).
