The regular croissant was good , but honestly it was very similar to what we normally get at the South Melbourne Market. The almond croissant, however, was amazing..incredibly rich and flavorful. The caramelized one was the standout for me. It was easily the best one we tried. The texture and flavor were incredible. The first thing I will seek out on any adventure is the quintessential coffee and croissant. Obviously not expecting a croissant to deliver a French baker seal of approval outside of a French bakery, but I'm not picky. Croissants are my kryptonite in any form because...butter. Also, this is a pretty average price of a croissant or pastries at most coffee shops in the states, especially considering it's located next to Chanel and Dior. I was through the line within 5 minutes, and had my croissants and coffee within 3 minutes, then was on my way to food heaven. Now to the croissants. I think I half expected these to be over-hyped because of the bougie location and who's who status of these croissants. Literally 4 different people on my walk back to the hotel, and a girl in the elevator saw the bag and asked if I had ever tried these before. Luna is THAT girl. Luna IS the instagram influencer. Starting with the impossibly glossy exterior, then I started into the first layer. Layer by layer flaking off one by one until you start to reach the perfect buttery soft, stretchy layers inside that melt in your mouth, one by one. It was marvelous. Man oh man was this an awesome stop. It's worth the wait in line for probably the best croissants I've had out of France. So fresh and so good. I went with the almond croissant, kougin-amann, and lasagna pastries. I had some amazing almond croissants before, and this was not it. It was good, don't get me wrong, but I've had better. Per yelp, the opening time is actually off by 30 mins which worked out for me because if you came at the actual opening time, the line was literally around the block. On a Monday towards closing, only the original croissant was left. It's located in the CBD area and inside had a good amount of people but wasn't too packed. Lune's croissants are out of this world. No, really - the New York Times rated them as the world's best croissant. Given her former aerospace engineering background, it's no surprise that Kate Reid, the owner of the renowned patisserie, has her crescent creations down to a science. For my 30-minute trip to the moon (aka the line that stretched out the doors), I made sure to order multiple pastries: the Croissant (A$6.60), Pain au Chocolat (A$7.20), and Kouign Amann (A$8.10). Sadly, they were sold out of their twice-baked Almond (A$11) already. Of the three, the classic Croissant was my favourite. It was a marvel to watch the pastry chef closely inspect each croissant to ensure that they were nothing short of perfection. In their unbaked form, I could already tell they were (super)stars in the making. Once baked and cut, they glistened with their flaky, golden-brown crust to unveil the soft, buttery honeycomb structure. The juxtaposition of textures from the lamination was phenomenal. I found myself picking up each delicate layer that fell onto my plate, not wanting a single morsel to go to waste. Finally, I have to commend the genius of the logo: not only is it a rocket ship with a croissant engine to pay homage to Kate Reid's aerospace engineering background, but the crescent shape also pays homage to the patisserie's name, being "moon" in French. This is all to say that it's all in the details, which stretch from the exquisite pastries down to the ingenious logo. Love you to the moon and back, Lune! read more

As of December 2023, each croissant will set you back by at least $7-$11 AUD depending on the variety you choose. They were all delicious, but the price point is a tad steep. Came here on a Saturday 5 minutes before 8am, right before they opened, and there was a small line in front (maybe 10 people in front of me). They opened promptly, and the line moved very fast. No seating here, but there are tables that you can stand and enjoy your food at. Service was super friendly, and even though we weren't technically seated, they treated us as if we were - pouring water for us (still or sparkling), setting utensils out for us, and bringing out pastries on plates for us.
